[Exalted: Planet Earth] The Creation-Spanning Weave

Seriously, though, Isaac is going to want to come up with a strategy that goes beyond the next heist. He's firmly convinced that pure actionism is a waste of time. Settling on a base or set of bases of operations would be a good start.

I apologize for my lack of updates recently, I've had a few hectic weeks but I'm back now.

For my part, Eric/Edmund will basically try and settle very discreetly in some shitty hotel, and Eric will ensure the secrecy of his identities changing appearance every once in a while between the two personas. He will experiment with some of his charms, coming to the realization that Loom Snarling Deception can be used to create more than 1 false identity, something he'll probably use quite often to remain hidden, all the while searching for any news on the current investigation of his whereabouts.

But the most interesting part will be this little "job" he's getting, and depending on what that is, how he'll use his charms for it. One thing is sure though, he will most likely incur in serious illegal activities at first.

Also, I assume that he murdered his wife via Mind Hand Manipulation in a very gruesome way, any chance he can find on the news the reaction of the german authorities to the lack of physical evidence in her murder?

@Lord-Leafar just in case you're not as familiar with Russian royalty as Eric/Edmund would be; Tsaritsa is the Empress's title, and Romanov is the family name of the Imperial family.

"Boy, am I glad I decided not to go to the protest..." :P

Not one lousy presence Excellency? You are the worst conman ever. The Lunar beatstick is a better socialite than you.

You are shamed, sir! Shamed!

Just to clarify, Eric is not entirely sure he can do everything Edmund's claiming to do, at least not with the same skill or proficiency of a proper scientist of the right field, but a few weeks ago he did not have telekinesis nor he could see the very fabric of Creation with his own eyes in ways no man has seen before, so he's taking a shot and betting he can pull it off with his new set of 'skills'.

I didnt perceive it as dickish, I am just at 0 motes now so I have no juice to throw into an excellency. Also you have a charisma excellency and perfect symmetry, you are probably better at convincing people than I am. Anyway Frank is going to walk away and cool his heels, have fun with the oil man.

@Esbilon, would you be ok with accepting a few of Revlid's mutations or a couple of custom ones, I have a few ideas I would like to implement for my mutation library with Rage Recast, and I want certain mutations that are more of a psychic and mental nature than the "grow tentacles out of my face" kind.

I'd certainly be OK with reading and considering them ;) Specific ones that is. The whole rewrite is quite honestly more than I think is worth the effort so close to The Edition That Was Promised.

Alright, let me know of any changes you might want to implement in case you feel they need to be modified (cost, mechanics, etc), the ones I'm interested with are the following:

Emotionless

Cost: 4-6pts; Keywords: Mental, Internal

The creature is biologically incapable of feeling emotion, rendering them immune to natural Emotion effects, and preventing them from acquiring or maintaining intimacies with an emotional context through natural mental influence. They also suffer a -2 internal penalty to any social attacks with an emotional component. The six-point version of this mutation immunizes the character to even unnatural Emotion effects or unnaturally-acquired emotional intimacies.

Reader Of Others

Cost: 3-5pt; Keywords: Mental, Internal

Whether through hypersensitivity to bodily cues, or rudimentary telepathic capabilities, the motives of others are laid bare. The creature can make a roll to evaluate another character’s motives (Exalted, pp. 131) with an unflurried miscellaneous action (or reflexively once per action, if they are operating on a social timescale), rather than a few minutes of analysis. The five-point version of this mutation allows the creature to perform such evaluations even if it cannot perceive its target, generally incorporating some kind of rudimentary telepathy; so long as the target is within (Perception x5) yards of the creature, it can make an evaluation roll. Characters can acquire the three-point version of this mutation by training for (10 - Perception) months; acquired in this manner, it has the Natural keyword.

Poker Face

Cost: 1-6pts; Keywords: Physical, Mental

Whether through supreme mental control, or a literally blank face, those attempting to pick the creature’s thoughts are often left stumped. The difficulty to read the creature’s motives increases by (M). The creature suffers an equal internal penalty to any social attack (or parry) based on its own emotions, such as an impassioned appeal or fearful plea. Characters can gain any number of points in this mutation as a result of training for (7 + M - Wits) months; acquired in this manner, it has the Natural keyword.

Disturbing (Aspect)

Cost: 3-4pts; Keywords: Physical, Obvious, Sickness or Emotion

Anyone attacking the creature in close combat suffers a -1 external penalty on attack rolls against it. If this is due to a horrifying appearance or chilling cry, it is a fear-based Emotion effect, automatically resisted by characters with a Dodge MDV of 8+. If this is due to a disgusting stench or putrid aura, it is a Sickness effect, resisted with a (Stamina + Resistance) roll at difficulty 4. Either way, the effect can be ignored for a scene by those who spend two points of temporary Willpower. The creature reduces its effective Appearance to 0 for the purposes of determining MDVs (with the usual effects on intimidation) when engaged in social combat with a character who lacks its variant of this mutation. The four-point version of this mutation affects attacks made at any range.

Quick question, how are you handling training times? Particularly for charms, I've got one or two charms I wanna get pronto, and (Not counting the time to get our first exp awards) I wanna know an estimate of how soon I'll be able to learn them. Also, how do you feel about Exp debt?

Exp debt for things you *need* or that are dramatically appropriate is fine so long as it doesn't get too big. General xp debt of a few points is OK to make things fit.

As for training times... I want them to be a slight impediment. A little something to work around. I don't want them to mean that you can never actually use your xp. So, that's something we'll roll with. For now, consider them to be as stated in canon, except that you always count as having a mentor for supernatural traits.

Are you using standard costs for learning Thaumaturgy degrees and/or procedures, I always thought they were somewhat expensive for Exalted, compared to what spells or charms can do.

Some are expensive, and some provide access to things you can't really get otherwise. What do you want?

Ok, here's a list of a few things I would like to do/accomplish to impress this Katarina lady, some of them might require Thaumaturgy, others regular craft:

- Make mundane drugs of the highest quality possible, hands down the best drugs you can get.

- Create a new drug: addictive, expensive, with kickass effects [for mortal/junkies standards]. I'll probably need Alchemy for this, at least if I want it to be supernatural in some way.

- Improve weapons and ammo: Armor piercing rounds are simply 1 dot higher in the resources value, so modifying existing ammo shouldn't be to hard. As it would be improving the functionality of existing weapons [making them exceptional and such].

- Design some kind of mundane software/equipment better geared for the business she is running. [Not sure about this one]

Basically my logic for learning Thaumaturgy would be using modern day knowledge of Chemistry, applied with the knowledge and manipulation of essence and it's reaction using mundane effects as a base to obtain slightly supernatural results, which would be a nice stepping stone into discovering sorcery at one point.

As part of a long term plan, I want to get a powerbase and enough resources to work my wonders [getting them from Katarina, and possibly making her my slave via some essence control], awaken the essence of some mortals and build a group of followers/brain washed assistants to help me maintain a lab where I'll be working my terrible wonders. Once I learn Principle Invoking Onslaught and Tool Transcending Constructs I can pretty much build and or transform anything I want, and that's the beginning of all wonderful monstrosities I'll be bringing into the world, weapons, artifacts, drugs, as much money as you could ever dream of.....

Alternatively, I could learn this really cool charm from the Hundrefold Facets of Englightement pdf if you approve it:

Fundamental Systems Understanding

Cost: —(1wp); Mins: Essence 2; Type: Permanent Keywords: None Duration: Permanent Prerequisite Charms: Factual Determination Analysis

The Principle of Hierarchy laid the foundations of the world and the sciences that its populace study. Such trivialities are no challenge for her chosen servants to master. An Infernal with this Charm may pay one point of Willpower to perform a ritual of any Art and of any Degree of thaumaturgy, without actually learning the procedure or Degree. If the Exalt has learned the procedure or Degree, it costs no Willpower at all to enact and the mote cost to reduce the Resources cost of the ritual is only one mote per Resources dot. An Infernal practicing the Art of the Dead can not gain any of these benefits with its rituals.
