Exalted III: Poorly-Named Game

Everything on that list would work fine except for the jewelry. This isn't really a place for luxuries.

And yeah, it's a ton of money. Has to be, for it to be worth travelling out to the edge of Creation, braving an incredibly dangerous sea on the way.

There's actually a lot of money moving on the island, since wonders from the Wyld are extremely valuable and Pa-El likes to pay for things with cash. Frees up ship space for passengers, who pay extortionate rates to get to the island.

Some prices are inflated here, others are surprisingly low.

To put everything in perspective, the five talents of jade that Red Wire claimed the mysterious box to be worth is more than twenty times the value of your cargo.

I hope we're still doing this. I know I've been quite, but that's just 'cause my character isn't in focus at the moment, not because I've lost interest!

I'm just waiting on a reasonable opening for my character to share the spotlight once more.

Unfortunately, no. Talked to him on Tumblr. He's dropping out. Doesn't have the spoons for a game, it turns out.

He said to let everyone know he's sorry. Nobody's an NPC now, and might not live much longer.

Watching on the scrying stone, you see that Nobody is unable to convince the sailor to risk betraying his crew. Pretty soon Pa-El returns, limping slightly. The interrogation continues, and Nobody sticks to their story about working for the Paper Court.

After the interrogation ends, Pa-El re-gags Nobody and leaves them locked in the brig with another sailor as a guard. And then you forget about Nobody's existence completely. You have no idea who this person is or why you're scrying on them. The guard seems equally confused.

Wits + Lore difficulty 12 to figure out who you're looking at.

Oh, well that's really unfortunate. I was having fun with him. I suppose we can continue with Cirno and myself if you want, or we can invite more people if you feel up to continuing the game.

I definitely want to continue. Would rather not go through the hassle of recruiting more people, though. Two's enough.

Ukkoya's good. Doesn't know that Kyros means to come on board, but that'll be fun times later. Anything else @JayTee?

@Sanctaphrax: While I do appreciate the take-back, I feel I should mention that in 3e, demons are generally loyal to their summoner and obey the spirit of the orders alongside the letter (per the sidebar on page 472, and the much larger sidebar that was cut from the leaked document).

I imagine this was done so it doesn't turn in to a tedium of micromanaging demons with lawyer like orders, and can instead focus on the more interesting part of managing their unique habits (which Kyros does by allowing the Blood-Apes to murder anything that approaches the forest by anything other than the path leading to it.)

As for demons summoned, I had an amount pre-summoned before the start of the game (3 Blood Apes, 2 Agata and 1 Neomah), but in retrospect this seems like it would be too few blood apes to properly guard the forest around the Pagoda, so I'd like to bump that up to around 10 or so (7 or so, now that a few of them are probably dead at the hands of Pa-El).

As for terms, most are bound under the genetic "Serve and obey me until your death or dismissal."

They'll obey the spirit of your orders, but only if they know what it is. Blood apes are not exactly intellectuals; I don't think they had the context to figure out what you were aiming for there.

Whoa wait, were you serious about that difficulty 12? I thought that was a joke. Can I at least get a roll to resist the effects first? I don't want to coming off as whining, but that seems a little... excessive.

It does seem a bit ridiculous. But I'm playing the Charm by the book, and it says...

"Roll the Exalt’s (Dexterity + Stealth) and

add her Essence in automatic successes to the result.

Record the result. The Exalt slips out of the thoughts and

memories of everyone who has ever known her, hiding in

their minds. Upon meeting, she is unrecognizable to those

who should know her.

Once per day, individuals affected by this Charm may

attempt to recognize the Exalt or remember her involvement in a past event. Roll the subject’s (Wits + Lore) against

a difficulty equal to the Exalt’s result."

And Nobody got 12 successes on their roll.

On the bright side, Kyros is the only person in the area with any hope of making that roll. Pa-El's no loremaster.

Christ, no-save effects still exist in this game with no way to resist it. I'm already unhappy with the mechanical slough the new edition is turning out to be, and keeping this kind of effect makes me feel like they didn't learn from the mistakes of the previous edition.

Ugh, anyway, here's that Wits+Lore roll from when you originally asked me and I thought you're joking. Since Kyros was in his Pagoda at the time, I'm just going to burn Motes on the excellency and hope for the best.

This fucking dice roller, I swear to god.
