Salwa stays silent, recognizing the signs that Thamina is studying the guard with plans to take his form. If there is anyone able to approach Unser and take down the guard without raising an alarm, it is the nimble thief. Don’t get clumsy now, princess.

The bandit seems not to be too observant, or maybe he thinks they are safe here, in their base of operations. He seems to be in his mid 20s, a robustly built olive-skinned man. He is carrying a scimitar on his belt, and seems like he knows how to handle it.

Taking the form of a small mosquito, Thamina flies into the cave and lands behind the man before returning to her true form. Moving closer to the man as silent as a ghost, Thamina takes out a small dagger. With a sudden lunge, she grabs the man from behind, placing her hand over his mouth to stifle his scream as she drives the knife into his throat. Then, she lowers his still form to the ground, she leans over and drinks from the open wound in his neck, taking into herself his form.

She closes her eyes for a brief moment, then stands up and takes on her newly acquired form before quickly taking the dead body and dragging it out of sight. Thamina then waves up to Salwa to signal her that it is her turn to go get a fresh disguise.

Seeing Thamina’s success in cutting down the first bandit, Salwa takes on her human form and casually walks into the cave, the blades of her gauntlets extended. She makes no serious attempt to be stealthy; these bandits will all be dead soon enough to tell the tale of how quiet she is.

After the demise of the bandits, the two Lunars make their way south. You may travel in your new Human forms, or in animal forms, and can take either the more direct route through the Mountains of Forgotten Dreams, with it's wide passes, or skirt them to the east, and go through the outskirts of the High Desert. In either case, you'll need to make your way south towards Tajar, City of Trade, the northernmost of the Pearl Cities. There, it would be a relatively easy travel south to Jumlat, either by boat, or by caravan, or by other means.

Sought-But-Not-Found hasn't given you a specific route to follow, trusting you to make the best decision.

Always a thief, Thamina will take a few minutes to look at what loot might be here for them to take. There may be something valuable here, and there is no way to know unless they look.

Rolling - 8 dice

Holy crap! Eleven successes on eight dice!

Thamina quickly realizes that they are in a very rich city. Maybe not as some parts of Huzuz, but definitely rich. To the left she can see a man wearing a silk Caftan with gold thread embriodery, and a jewelled knife tucked into his belt. Next to him is a woman in a fine Chador, and on her head is a necklace and a headpiece in gold and sporting some gems. And walking in your general direction is a man with a saber whose silver hilt has a large pearl at the pommel, and behind him a woman in chador wearing a pearl necklace.

Knowing that Thamina has been trained as a thief, Salwa murmurs over to the other Exalt, “Keep your focus on the job at hand and don’t waste our time getting your sticky fingers into trouble. Let’s go find our contact to get our jobs in the caravan lined up.”

Thamina does her best to hide a pout as her fellow Lunar chastises her about keeping her fingers out of other people’s pockets.

She says, “Very well. I’ll behave myself. In the meantime, let’s get our jobs lined up and make sure that this jewel gets to the temple.”

You have several options traveling south to Jumlat, where you're supposed to start your mission.
There's a clear paved road leading there, so you can travel there by yourselves, either in human form, or in animal form.
You can board a ship heading there, probably by offering your services in payment.
Or, you can hire yourselves as bodyguards to a caravan heading down, and there's plenty of travelers between the cities.

Knowing how Salwa will probably react to travel by ocean, Thamina suggests, “Let’s go ahead and secure passage on one of the many ships traveling south to Jumlat. It will probably be faster than going by land and the beds are more likely than not going to be better on our backs than sleeping on the ground. Sound good to you?”

Salwa smiles at the thought. "Yes, indeed. Let's book passage. I'll let you do the negotiating for the cost of passage. Just don't go . . . overboard. Get it? Overboard? Ha! I slay myself. Why aren't you laughing? I thought it was funny."

Thamina rolls her eyes at the comment, saying, “Your sense of humor eludes me. I just don’t understand most of what you think is funny.” She thinks for a moment, then says, “We’ll hit the docks and see if we can find a ship going to our destination, and if that is unsuccessful, we’ll go to plan B. But I fully expect that our search will be successful.”

There are about 5 ships in the harbor, one of them, "The Moral Compass", is headed to Jumlat. The captain is a big man with a beaked nose, and piercing green eyes that eyes you up before saying "Salaam Aleykum, what can I do for you?"

Stepping up to the captain, Thamina says, “ Well met, good sir. I am Marcon. The two of us are seeking passage on to Jumlat and wanted to negotiate a mutually beneficial fee for the trip.”

Thamina/Marcon gives a half smile. "Aside from the fact that we are both skilled fighters, we have coin to offer for the passage. If your ship comes under attack while we are onbaord, we can offer our skills as men-at-arms to help defend your ship, cargo and crew in return for a discounted rate. Up to you, of course, but it sounds like a reasonable deal to us."

OOC Both Cha and Man are 4 dots, with one in Bureaucracy.

Only 2 successes.

Adding in dice for a Cha Excellency.

One more Success.

He still seems displeased, and agrees to take you on, but it will take one third of the money you have. You feel like he's overcharging you, but it will be a faster journey than on foot.
