Episode 2: The Wolf of New York

"No offense, but I don't think giving out powers to random people would bring the best out of humanity", Jonathan voiced his opinion. "Like, have you seen the 'X-Men' films? This is literally the plot of 'X-Men'! Humanity can't even handle having people with different colors, I doubt they can keep it together when they discover super powered humans running around." He blushed when Elsa praised him for figuring out that other people were given god cards. "Hehe, I'm not that clever. I was just guessing since, like, y'know, err-", the rest were incoherent mumbling noises that even Jonathan himself wasn't able to understand.

He tried to analyze every word Elsa said about the mangler. Maybe he could get something out of it. The mangler... If he or she was a card holder, I'm afraid I cannot divulge that information. Does this mean the mangler is a god card owner since she's very adamant about giving information about them? The Olympus Group strives to keep the identities of its participants private.  The same reason why we will not tell the other participants that you are a card holder yourself. But what about those who are not participants? Would she tell him if someone, who is not a participant, is a card owner? He looked at her intently, trying to look for clues from her facial expressions that may give whether or not she's withholding information. But then, he remembered that he has no idea in reading body language and he found himself admiring her dark round eyes.

Jonathan scratched his head. She didn't confirm nor deny anything about the mangler and he can't prove she's lying so he's back to square one. "Let me get this straight, so you won't stop other card owners in doing whatever they want with their powers right? Even if they attempt to destroy half of New York City or even the Olympus group itself?"

@IamNotLoki

Elsa chuckled lightly at Johnathan's comments about the X-Men.  "Mr. Jonathan, we believe that the creation of the god cards is the first step to reclaiming humanity's bond with the powerful entities we call gods,"  She smiled gently at him.  "The gods want us to become one with them... and it's only appropriate.  If we do not answer their call, humanity will be engulfed by the Void..."  She paused, sensing his reaction.  "Ha!  You might think I am spouting nonsense... and fair enough.  I don't think you need to worry about the concerns of the Olympus group.  Those powers are a gift not only from us... but the gods themselves.  Please do not let concerns of serial killers and X-men parallels keep you away from your enjoyment of these powers..."  Elsa seems to have a slight eastern-European accent that she seems to be concealing well.

She listened to Jonathan's concerns once more.  "Like what we stated in the note in the black box, we wish for you and all of our participants to do whatever they wish with their powers.  Even if it means destroying the world as we know it, we will try our best not to interfere.  However if the Olympus group itself is destroyed it will have a negative effect on the experiment.  We will try and preserve ourselves if it came to that.  Do not worry about me, the Olympus Group is not a pushover... you will be surprised how powerful we are when forced to defend ourselves."  She smirked proudly.  "Anyways, I don't think you should be worried about serial killers or the destruction of New York City.  You should remember that you are one of the lucky few granted with the powers of a god.  Your life must look a lot brighter now than before don't you think so?"  She tilted her head and smiled warmly.  "Do you have any questions about how the cards work?  I will be happy to answer any questions that will make using it a lot easier for you.  I want you to enjoy my gift and make your wildest dreams come true!"

Thankfully, Matthew had seen no more of the man from before, and was able to quickly return to his home. Hustling in and locking the door behind him, Matthew stood in the entry hallway into his house, pondering what to do next. His one-floor house was small, with a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, a dining room that also doubled as a living room, and an empty room that he did not know what to do with. While he was thinking, it occurred to him that it would be unwise to stay, as the police might have probably discovered his identity, and would be soon coming over to collect evidence. He decided that he would need to quickly pack up.

Grabbing his backpack, he quickly stuffed some necessary items in: clothing, water, some toiletries, food, etc. He would need to prepare to be out for a while since he was now presumed dead, and the house would go up for sale after the police investigation. It wasn't like he could just move back in. He threw in his laptop as well, since he still wanted to do research. Once he had packed all the basic stuff, Matthew went to his living/dining room and flipped his only armchair over on its side. Taking a screwdriver, he unscrewed the secret lid underneath. Inside the hidden compartment sat a large stash of cash, as well as several narcotics. Matthew had forgotten about the drugs, which had been given to him by his fellow gang members in order to celebrate a particularly successful drug scheme. He had never bothered to try them, but they would need to be destroyed. He flushed the drugs, and carefully placed most of the cash in a secret pouch in his backpack that he had created as a precaution.

Once he was done packing, Matthew laid down on the bed, tired. He knew that he had to leave soon, but he wanted to sleep first. Better to start with more energy he rationalized. On instinct, Matthew stood up, and walked over to his kitchen. Opening up one of the small cabinets, he found a half-drunk bottle of Jack Daniel's. He poured some of the amber liquid into a small shot glass, and silently toasted his "new" life, and downed it. To his annoyance, he didn't feel anything, not even a small feeling of warmth. Nevertheless, he was still tired, and when he got back to his bedroom, he flopped down and quickly fell asleep.

_____

He was awoken by the sound of his doorbell ringing. Matthew didn't know how long he had been asleep, but stumbled to the door regardless and peered through the peephole. The sight of a grim-faced police officer on the other side made him recoil in surprise. He didn't expect them to be this quick. However, he knew that he needed to act fast. If the police found him, they would undoubtedly take him into custody. They would be quite interested as to how he was both dead and alive at the same time, not to mention the fact that they would discover all the shady stuff that he did for a living. The best route for Matthew right now would be for him to escape, but how?

Shit Shit Shit, Matthew thought as he frantically thought of a way to escape. And then he realized. Quickly returning to his room, Matthew reached under his bed and grabbed his gun from under. The gun was still loaded, and the safety was off. Matthew stared at it. Dare he do it? What if the first time had been an accident of some kind? He really wished that he could have gotten drunk first, then he would have pulled the trigger without hesitation. A second ring of the doorbell snapped Matthew out of his indecision. Fuck it. Putting his backpack on, and tucking it under his jacket just to make sure it stayed with him, Matthew rested the barrel of the gun against his chin. He felt the lump in his pocket that contained his wallet reassuringly, and then pulled the trigger.

The shot was loud, and its noise ricocheted off the walls of the small house. Matthew collapsed once again to the ground. Once again, the feeling of dissolving quickly arrived. Thankfully, this time death came quicker.

"This is Commissioner James Irons of NYPD, is anyone home?  I came to tell you about what happened to Mr. Matther Hansen..."  Jim called out from outside as he rang the doorbell once more.

BANG!

A loud gunshot echoed from within the house.  "What the--"  Jim's heart accelerated as he pulled out his pistol.  Anything could have happened beyond that door.  A robbery?  Another murder?  Jim embraced the adrenaline as he kicked the door down.  He ran quickly to a wall and scouted the area for any signs of intrusion.  "Freeze NYPD!"  He called out as he moved from wall to wall.

"Shit..."

Jim covered his mouth as he saw a body literally being eaten alive by bacteria and insects.  The stench of death filled the room as Jim moved in closer to the skeletal remains.  Even without the flesh Jim could confirm the identity of the body from it's teeth.  The teeth were very similar to the teeth he has observed at the morgue... every tooth fits the image in Jim's mind.  "This is... Hansen's body..."  Jim said as he watched as the bones too decomposed.  Jim knew for a fact that this body did belong to Hansen... the corpse failed to show a spectral scale... it must have dashed off already, just like before.

"Crap..."  He looked at the rotting skeletal fingertips of the corpse still holding on to the gun.  "He did it to himself... it was suicide..."  Jim rubbed his temple and tried to piece the clues together.  Jim looked around trying to understand what just happened.  "He cleaned up..."  He observed the room closely.  "What the heck am I talking about..." he face palmed in disbelief.  If I didn't receive the Anubis Card 2 weeks ago, I wouldn't have believed what was going on now... nothing is impossible anymore.  The rules have changed.  The commissioner scratched his head as the entire corpse left behind quickly disappeared.  He has a Black Card... definitely.  "Damn that tricky kid..."  He grunted and ran back to his Ford Focus.

---------------------------------------------------

When Matthew wakes up behind the Celtica it is already dark outside.  A giant silhouette cast a huge shadow down at him from the Bar's roof.  6 glowing red eyes watched Matthew as he recovered.  It's fangs twitched open... each tooth ready to mangle flesh and bone. "Krakkakakkakakakakkaka..."

Jonathan gave her a strange look when she mentioned something about the gods wanting man to be one of them. It's not that he doesn't believe that those entities exist, but he's very doubtful that the gods would want anything to do with them. But despite the mysterious aura she's been giving off ever since she appeared, Elsa seems to have strong faith that their group was doing the right thing and that mankind will be one with the gods. It's like talking to a nun, he thought.

"Well, there is something I need", he then pointed to the mask with the golden eye on it that Elsa was holding on to. "Do you mind if I borrowed that? Your comments on me using my powers publicly made me think how dangerous it would be if people found out my identity. I'll bring it back without a scratch, I promise. Wait, how do I give it back to you? Do you have a number I can call or something?"

@IamNotLoki Sunni was walking when she heard a loud BANG. She turned. Someone had burst into the home of some other person and was now shouting. The girl watched curiously, unsure of what was happening. There was silence. Sunni looked at the house, as if there was a chance for the whole building to just sprout wings and fly away. Had someone died?

That's a bit unfortunate.

The unforgiving side that Sunni had gained said. Was there a murderer? Who murdered who, exactly? Then the man who had burst into the home came out and went into a car. Did the murderer get away? Why then, had Sunni not seen the murderer dash out of the home? Sunni sighed, too many questions inside her mind to think properly, and looked at the car and the man inside of it. After decided that he might be a cop, Sunni ran up to the Ford and knocked on the window gently. If he was nice, she could ask for a ride home.

Elsa shook her head.  "Unfortunately I cannot let you borrow this mask," Elsa looked at down at the mask in her hand.  "Consider these masks sort of like police badges or ID cards... If you see anyone wearing one of these masks, that means they are a member of the Olympus group,". She placed the mask on her face... All the features fit snugly as if it was custom made for her.  "We have put great effort in making sure people do not attempt to impersonate us.  It would be very confusing to the participants if someone pretended to be a member of the Olympis Group and made false claims about the Black Cards, right?"  She said through the white mask.  "We have outfitted these masks with a safety feature that makes them explode and release a toxic gas if someone other than an authorized member decides to wear it.  In addition these masks also act as transmitters showing our locations to the rest of the group," Elsa explained.  "So for your safety, I cannot give you this mask.  However with your powers I am sure you can simply acquire a different mask that will not kill you," she placed her hand over her mask and removed it, revealing her beautiful face again. "I am flattered that you want to keep in contact with me, but I am only a part of the Olympus Groups' guide division.  We are constantly watching our participants at all times.  If you need any help, just run your finger on your Black Card and make a simple star shape.  If you do this, either I, or one of my co-members will appear before you and give you as much assistance as we can,". Elsa made a star shape with her fingers.  "Anything else?"  She asked patiently.

Episode 2: Wolf of New York

Previously: Most of the characters have received their black cards an are passively trying to understand what powers the cards offered.  Some participants have expressed their desire to communicate with other participants but overall attempts to make lasting bonds happen have failed (lol).  The Police is currently investigating the Mangler case, where a serial killer is targeting what seemed to be unrelated groups of people and mangling their bodies.  However while commissioner Jim and his detective Mark was coming back from the morgue, a strange event happened where a certain Matthew Hansen was shot in an alley.  What seemed to be typical New York Street violence escalated into a paranormal phenomenon when Matthew's body quickly disintegrated (and he was reborn at the back of a bar called Celtica).  A strange figure who calls himself Mephisto Pheles approached the newly revived Matthew and immediately knew that he carried a Black Card, he offered him his business card before Matthew walked away.  The NYPD commissioner wanted to question Matthew's close relatives or friends in his home, but when he got there Matthew has already shot himself and was immediately reborn again at the back of the Celtica... where the Mangler lurked above him.

While this was happening, Jonathan was conducting his own personal investigation on the Mangler case and managed to get the attention of Elsa, an agent of the mysterious Olympus Group.  She answers a few of his questions telling him that the Olympus Group wants to remain as transparent as possible without ruining the experiment.

Objective: Investigate/Defeat the Mangler.

Side Quest: Investigate the Olympus Group

Side Quest: Team up with others.

If he was nice, she could ask for a ride home.

Jim flinched when the gentle knocks on the car window startled him.  He was still in high adrenaline mode, the shock of hearing a gunshot made him tap into the police training drilled into him at the academy.  He looked through the window and saw a young Asian girl with silky black hair.  He sighed and rolled the window down.  "Can I help you?"  He asked her with tired eyes.  He looked at the steering wheel and thought of what to do next.  Should he call for backup and report the suicide?  If he does where is the body?  There is nothing to autopsy and the investigators will just think Jim is growing senile.  The other option was to simply ignore what happened and not report it at all, but will that be the right thing to do?  Damn, these cards make simple protocol so complicated...

He looked at the girl again and saw the spectral scales floating above her.  She seems to be a typical honor student... the scales appear almost balanced.  He waited for what the girl was going to say.  He held his badge under his right thumb, debating whether or not to reveal himself as a cop.

David Corrigan

LocationWhat's The Scoop: Ice Cream Parlor - 2nd Floor

David sat in his office, with goggles on his eyes and a striped pink-white kitchen apron from the ice-cream parlor on his body. On the desk before him was his Mephistopheles card, and in his right hand he held a rectangular cardboard cutout colored with black paint that dried quite a while ago. it was roughly the shape and size of the black card that David had. He looked up at the lamp and looked at how the light was reflected from the cutout. He laid it on the desk and compared it to the Mephistopheles card... the two were nearly similar, but the cutout was a little too big in length. David grabbed some office scissors and cut it, making it perfect. "Alrightey." He commented, as he looked to his computer. On the desktop was a single file, named 'mephistopheles-highquality.jpg.' David opened it and printed it out. The printer on his desk soon distributed a regular white sheet of paper, with two sides of the Mephistopheles card. David took his scissors once more and cut out the two and put them next to each other. He took the cardboard piece in his hand and stared at it. He covered both sides in glue and attached the previously printed copies of the Mephistopheles card to it, creating a fake black card that looked real to a naked eye. "Molto... bene!" (Very... good!)

He looked at the fake black card, and at the real one and realized how similar they are. "I could easily mistake you two for each other, howzabout a little dress up?" and took the fake card in his hands, ripping off a small fragment. He laid it back next to the real one and sat back. "Now, I have a trump card for safety, but... question is: Do I leave the real one in a vault, or do I take it with me for safety?" David thought about the alternatives. He wasn't looking for trouble, and if anything like that came up, he'd run away. He's brains, not brawn. The chances of getting captured and his card being taken from him were thus very low, however knowing that other people had powers he felt... anxious to leave the card alone. He instead decided to take both, but if he was to show or give his black card to someone else, he'd only give up the fake one.

David took off the goggles from his eyes, then took off the kitchen apron that was stained with pitch-black paint and threw both of them to a small cupboard on the other side of the room. He took the two cards and shoved them in his suit, making sure he remembered where the real one was, and where the fake one was. David made sure his gun is loaded, but uncocked and put it in his suit once again. He briefly looked in the mirror on the wall, still sitting in his chair and slightly adjusted his hair, as the goggles screwed it up. He stared at his reflection for a moment, then smiled in a suave way, like a businessman that wants to sell his products. He played out a hypothetical conversation with a customer in his head, and then he heard a 'BANG!' noise outside, exactly what you'd expect from a pistol being fired. Gunfire wasn't exactly something hard to hear, however David didn't quite show any form of care about the gunfire, as it did not concern him. Why would he care about gunfire far away? It was the only logical thing to not take interest... but... David cocked his head to the window. "Resist the urge... Resist the temptation, David. There's nothing worth seeing there." David forcefully laid his hand on his temple and turned the head back to the mirror. He bit his lip and looked back at the window. "No, of course there's no one, or anything... if someone wanted to make a deal I would have felt it by now... but... maybe?..." His fingers were moving rapidly and David was unable to control them. The anxiety of making profit from a deal, it was too much for him to resist.

"Fine! You win, subconciousness! Today, you are victorious..." he yelled, looking up, as if he was talking to a silent god. David got up and sighed, getting in his car.

Soon after, the diabolical businessman arrived near the house that Matthew resided in, however he was several minutes after the deed has been done, afraid of anything that could have taken place. He sat in his car and watched from a distance, identifying the figure in the Ford Focus to be the same detective from before. He started having suspicions, as he saw the detective two times today. First on the crime scene from before, now here. 'Why do I always give into the urge to go and investigate random shit that doesn't concern me? Maybe I was destined to be a detective and cheated fate? Screw it. I'm just more earnest than other people - They spend time thinking how much the opportunity costs, but instead I buy it up. I am a businessman. Let's see. There was a gunshot - Either he killed someone, or someone killed someone else. Both could have been only attempted though, I may gain more information if I ask him... buuut... that would be a bit suspicious. Now I regret not taking any of my underlings with me on adventures like these... Note to self: Always have backup from now on. And take a holiday, maybe walk William out.' referring to his faithful dog.

David got out of his car and slowly approached Jim and Sunni, thinking of what he should say. 'Okay, if I ask what sort of crime took place - I might be screwed badly. I still don't know if it was a murder, or suicide, and I have no idea if the family knows about it - so a lawyer is out. I'll try to fake being a family member. Maybe an uncle, I don't know the friggin' surname, though. Shit-shit-shit. Bollocks. If I walk past them, all is lost. THINK... Okay, I've got an idea.' David approached the two of them with a worried face, then, displaying a lack of confidence said. "H-Hello, I'm Alex Clustermeyer... I... live in the neighbourhood. I heard a gunshot... is everything okay?" Playing to be a low-level corporate drone that works all day and has a serious lack of confidence. David didn't exactly take acting lessons, but he was still very skilled in pretending, acting and manipulating others, so he hoped he could fool the detective and the little girl that stood next to the car. A normal person wouldn't know who Jim is, but David's already seen him and he knows that Jim is a cop.

@Shmivian @IamNotLoki

Jim looked at the concerned neighbor and did a double-take.  Above the seemingly innocent looking young man hung a scale that had its flaming side tilted all the way down.  this man must have done something terrible... No, more than that... The scale is barely moving anymore, he must be in the business of committing crimes.  As soon as concerned dog walker approached, Jim smoothly hid his badge under the coat on the passenger seat.  The powers of Anubis hasn't failed before.  Each time a person's scales were this imbalanced, they usually turned out to be highly dangerous criminals.   This man isn't who he's saying he is.  Although Jim knew this, he knew that "because the scales were imbalanced" wasn't a realistic cause for arrest.  Legally he could not do anything to this man until he finds solid proof of his crimes.  Jim knew that times like these more than ever, the information about the black cards needed to be kept secret.  Who knew what kind of plan someone with evil intentions might have if they knew of the black card's existence.  Also, at the same time, Jim knew that right now, the young girl's safety is in jeopardy... He can't predict what this morally imbalanced man might do to the girl.  Jim told himself to remain vigilant and keep his guard up.  He decided to play along with the pretender's charade.  "To be honest I thought it was a gunshot. As an ex-marine my training kicked into gear and I found myself rushing in to help anyone inside that might be getting attacked.  I was surprised to find not a single soul inside the house, strange huh?"  He explained with calm eyes.  "I feel bad now for kicking the door down, do you know the owner of the house?  I think I need to call them about payment for the door... Here I thought I was being a hero... Seems like I'm just getting old! Haha!"  Jim played along while at the same time fishing for information.  Jim was confident that even if these two wanted to go inside and check out the place, they will find the body altready turned to dust... Bones and all.   No evidence of someone committing suicide and no evidence of black cards.  Jim watched the man carefully, ready to pounce if he tries to hurt the young girl.

Sunni fiddled her black card in her hands nervously, staring as another man and his dog had walked up and asked if everything was okay. The one in the car had a sort of manly man yet relaxed look to him. He had spiky black hair that was brushed back, too. The girl looked at the one with the nervous voice. Her had cool teal blue eyes and gentle brown hair... She stayed silent as the man talked about a gunshot... empty house... kicking doors down... getting old... The girl finally opened her mouth to speak:

"Um... I heard the gunshot too. Did you check the whole house?" Sunni suddenly realized she was supposed to be going home.

Now Sunni was extremely uneasy around adult men- it wasn't her fault, she had always been terrified of getting raped or assaulted or something. There was a slightly trust able one, then there was the one that made Sunni feel uneasy. Something inside her told her to be a bit careful.

"I need to go home." Sunni forced herself to say. "And I'm lost. Could you help me, please?"

She tried to act like sunshine, but she was extremely terrified of what one of the two males might do to her. She fiddled her card even more, her palms starting to sweat.

She may or may not have forgotten her own address, after all...

Anastasiya was doing the final preparations to her bike, since it needed a little maintenance. As well as the fact that she wanted to go out for a drive, as well as keep an eye out for anything. Finally done she sighed, pushing her blonde hair back. She oddly enough had put some makeup on before hand, although she had her whip by her side and was prepared to fight off crime this night. Especially keeping an eye out for this 'mangler' who was tearing innocent people apart. She was currently wearing a red faux leather jacket, black jeans and black motorcycling boots, and had just put on her motorcycling helmet with her blonde hair flowing behind her and started the engine. It's soft purr revving and evolving to a loud roar as she revved the engine and prepared to leave. Then as she began to leave, she noticed a black box glistening on the ground. She then stopped, leaving the engine running kicking up her kickstand to hold the bike upright, as she got off and grabbed it pulling her visor up to investigate it. She saw its silver flame with the eye on it, opening it up letting curiosity take ahold of her, she then read the content of the paper in it

Raising her eyebrow at what would probably seem like a prank, she looked and saw white cloth covering up what was probably the object in consideration. Unraveling it, she saw the black card, taking it and turning it over she saw the symbol of a balanced scale with a sword down the center, with what seemed like gibberish written on it, until it all suddenly began to click as if she understood it. And knew all too well it's name... Nemesis...

Taking it felt it was warm, as if it held stored untapped energy. Then she suddenly began to feel empowered, and she began to see as someone was walking by they're unpaid debts and unpunished crimes. As it seems the one she was looking at stole candy when they were little and were never caught. She for the moment could only muster out a "Huh, I wonder what else this card did to me..." She mused to herself aloud in flawless English although with a Russian accent. That's when she felt as if she was perfectly balanced, even though she was slightly unbalanced having looked and focused on the card. She decided to put it in a safe place, so she took out her wallet, and stuck it in there for the time being. Anastasiya continued speaking to herself quietly aloud. "So, I can probably assume that any other powers that come up will probably be accidentally activated by myself, or will manifest on their own..." She then climbed back on her bike and began to drive along the road with he blonde hair flowing behind her. As she felt the thrill of the wind flowing on her as she rode. Then suddenly she began hearing a whisper like voice, which honestly scared her a bit. Then listening carefully she heard it was saying "Avennnge meee. Bring retreebution." That's when she could feel that it was an armed mugging gone wrong. Yep, something she never had before, even better is that it was innately guiding her there, as if it were a GPS. And even better is that it was not all that far away. Driving over there, she caught the sight of a young woman shot in her gut, in the middle of the sidewalk. She was gripping the spot and was still alive, glancing forward she saw who was the mugger. Bringing her bike forward, she rolled out her whip, and as she propelled forwards she waited for the right moment, whipping the whip around her head, closing in... And then crack went the whip as it made a small sonic boom and in one solid motion right as the mugger caught glimpse of what was about to happen. The whip then came down full force and struck right into his back a little bit after his spine and on right right side so that, combined with the velocity of the bike and the force of the whip the man got brought off his feet and caused him to collide with the concrete. Anastasiya then curbed her motorbike, turning off the engine and putting the keys in her pocket before bringing up the kickstand before taking off her helmet and putting it onto the arm bars. She then began approaching the mugger who was still on the ground struggling to get up, especially with the vicious lash he got which cut through the sweatshirt he had on and his shirt as if it were butter, and gave the man a good deep cut which was beginning to bleed and smashed his bone hard probably breaking a small portion of it. As she approached closer she was shooting daggers with her gunmetal blue eyes glaring down at the mugger who began to try to use his pistol to shoot her, which she easily noticed and swung the whip directly down on his hand, which was now effectively broken and took a very nasty lash to the hand which began to bleed profusely like a river since she hit a couple veins. Followed with the man's screams, and whimpering as he lay on the ground gripping his arm "Tsk, tsk, tsk. Got nothing better to do eh? Well, looks like you got what you deserved, you're lucky she didn't die, or you would have met the same fate, you worthless piece of shit." She said as she approached him kicking the pistol away from him. Then catching a glance of the woman's wallet which was still in his hand. To which she began to chuckle. "You really should have stuck it in a pocket of yours or something pal..." Which then lead her to stomp down with the boot down on his other hand which held her wallet, which caused him to yelp, and to lose grip of it. To which she picked it up, and pocketed it with the intent to give it back. As well as call the police and ambulance, to deal with the rest of it. She then hurried back to her bike, turning it around. She then called out to him sarcastically who was still lying there "Good luck getting up from that! And make sure you remember that no crime goes unpunished! Because if the police don't come, I will be there. Ta-ta!" As she began driving back and hurrying over. She saw the woman who was lying there, although now had someone over there watching over her. The woman had brown hair, and chocolate brown eyes that currently now looked strained and less silky that they looked previously, with a caring look on her face Anastasiya bent down and laid her wallet down there and said "I am so sorry that this happened to you, I was able to get your wallet back. I would assume you called the police and an ambulance?" Glaring over to the other man. He nodded, and the woman who had been looking grim finally was able to make a faint smile. And quietly say "Thaank... you..." Anastasiya smiled slightly and said "You are welcome. I beat the fucker hard for you. I hope you recover soon, good luck." As she then hopped back on her bike putting on her helmet, and began to drive off again. Feeling good for having helped another person out.

Jennifer sighs, continuing to wander aimlessly. She had absolutely no idea where she was, her phone was dead, and she was starting to get kinda tired. "Well. Today just is not my day." She mumbles, ducking into a dark alleyway for a moment and sitting against the wall. "Ok, time to come up with a plan of action instead of just wandering aimlessly. Step one, ask someone for directions to the nearest police station, step two, see if they can give me directions back to where I live... This is a stupid, overly complicated plan, but, I'm too tired to come up with anything else at this point. Chasing that kid down took a lot out of me. It's not even really that late, and here I am practically exhausted." She mutters to herself. She stood back up and walked out of the alleyway, asking a few people who passed by how to get to the police station before one of them finally gave her an answer. She thanked them, and made a mental note of how to get to the police station from where she was. After taking a moment or two literally just standing there doing absolutely nothing she headed on her way, following the directions she'd been given and taking a leisurely walk towards the police station, which was quite a bit farther away then she'd expected. It was about a fifteen minute walk, if she had to guess based on the directions she'd been given.

"Ok, Jennifer, after this, you've got one thing and one thing only to do. Go home, figure out what the hell these supposed powers of yours are." She mumbles to herself while she walks, coming up with a plan of action for when she gets home. "Step one, check back of card. Who knows, maybe it has instructions on it. Step two, if that doesn't work, just try random things until you manage to figure it out. Step three, if that doesn't work, give up for the time being and instead work on trying to make a superhero costume despite knowing nothing about sewing or any of that and having no materials... I'd rather not have to get to step three." She mutters to herself as she walks. "I just want to figure this out, is that too much to ask?" She asks herself quietly. She probably looked like a crazy person at the moment, considering how much she was talking and mumbling to herself, and she quickly realized that her actions were rather odd and stopped talking to herself, deciding to continue on the walk in silence. Boring, boring silence.

David was very careful as he approached, watching the movements of both Jim and Sunni, however he didn't notice the detective hiding his badge. It's not like it mattered anyway, as the two of them already knew what each other's professions are. He heard Jim's lie and wasn't sure if the man was lying or not, but he had solid doubts. As a conman, businessman, drug lord, gang leader and the founder of a criminal empire, David knew when he saw a liar. Of course, he was always eager to send his goons for a muscule-only job, but something like this required finesse. One skill that nearly no common grunt possessed.

He turned his head to look at Sunni, then answered her question for Jim. "I'm sure the detective has it handled." turning to Jim once more. "I'm glad to know we have such competent men ready to protect and serve." but despite what he said, the only things he thought about were: 'I wish I could watch Steven Universe right now. This was a waste of effort.' David politely played along, keeping William close. He chuckled with the detective and decided to establish a safe conversation and build a basic profile, to engage in further banter. "Oh, I know all about it. My dad was a marine, before he... well... passed away." Which was a lie. David's father was of course in prison, but he was well and sound. David did not yet expect that the detective knew who he was. "Well, I'm glad no one was hurt. By the way, detective. My boss is a competent lawyer, I'm just his assistant. In case you stumble on anyone that needs someone to defend their rights: give him a call." Giving Jim his business card. The same one he gave to Matthew. "Young lady, detective." David bowed his head to the two of them and left, walking to his car once again. He noticed that Sunni had a black card too, but it would be stupid to attack her for it in the middle of the street, especially next to Jim. Besides, David was looking for cards that could help expand his criminal empire, and while ANY card could help with that task, he didn't just feel like stealing from a 13 year old girl. It was not only too easy, but it was also brutal, cruel and not his style. David was a businessman with standards, not a low tier pickpocket that takes away candy from children. Even IF he wanted Sunni's card, he'd offer her something in exchange, and make a deal.

Jim took the business card and looked at it.  The name on it says "Mephisto Pheles".  Jim shoved it inside his coat pocket.  The man apparently knows that he's a detective, it was no use denying that fact anymore.  "Thanks..." Jim said as his hand came back from his jacket pocket.  "Have a nice evening..."  He said as the man walked away.  The commissioner then looked at Sunni.  "So, you need a ride back..."  Jim sighed a tossed the junk from his passenger seat to his back seat.  "Do you need to borrow a phone to call your parents?"  Jim said to Sunni with tired eyes.

Sunni watched as the man walked off, referring to the man in the car as a detective. Detectives were reliable, right? The man had given the detective a business card and had left. The girl said a quick goodbye, just for politeness's sake.

"He looks suspicious." Sunni mumbled a bit too loudly.

She fiddled with her black card, looking at the gold characters. She then looked at the driver's tired eyes with her own dark brown ones.

"Yea... Yes please..." Sunni nodded when the man asked if she needed a phone to call her parents.

(am I allowed to kill off Sunni's parents... for the fun of it.... @IamNotLoki idk I'm bored)

Marina was beyond annoyed at this point in time.

She hated New York. Sure, her dad got a fantastic job offer here. But that didn't mean that she'd loved it. Her father had begged and pleaded for her to come with him, and after relenting, she moved into a place not far from a college that she could afford to go to. Thankfully, she had also secured herself a job at a cafe. Which there were plenty of, so she didn't exactly need to worry.

But then again, there certainly were a lot of strange happenings going on around here. Like that Mangler guy. Or how some people have apparently started walking on air. She didn't believe that end of it, of course, but she made sure to stay prepared when she was going anywhere.

At the moment, she was leaning on her open palm, overlooking the streets and lines of houses. Nothing out of the ordinary, as far as she could see. Sighing in exhaustion, she silently mourned for the rolling fields of her old town. Which as a matter of fact, did not smell like gasoline and sound like hundreds of cars. Only now did she realize how much she missed it.

Closing the window, she turned back to the small room which she called home. Her father had offered her a stay at his place, but it was nowhere near the college she attended. So, she decided to find her own place. Sitting down at her desk and grappling a pencil, she bore into the paper before her as if she wished it would catch on fire. She took a small sip from the water bottle sitting next to her, mentally preparing herself.

Just as she placed the pencil down on it, her foot nudged something hidden away under her desk. Pushing her chair out and leaning down to investigate, her eyes locked onto an obscure black box that she could vaguely define. Putting a hand on the desk and grabbing it, the box was surprisingly light weight. She couldn't help her curiosity, though. Her hand flew to the lid and opened it immediately. There lay a black piece of paper with something of a card nestled near it in soft white cloth. She grabbed the note, reading it:

Dear Lucky Participant,

Your unique characteristics and qualities have gathered our interest.

We have been watching you carefully and we came to the conclusion

that you are a perfect candidate to participate in our special experiment.

Enclosed in this box is a god's name.  We offer that god's jurisdiction to you.

Once you pick up this object, you will receive that god's powers and abilities.

Feel free to use that power however you wish.  Consider it as a gift.

We will be observing your progress, but we will not interfere with your choices.

We hope you enjoy the gift we have given you.

With great promise,

Olympus Group

'What's this nonsense?' Was her original thought. 'Honestly, some people...'

Before long she held the note firmly in one hand and reached her hand towards the card. It read, 'Poseidon'. The jolt was the first thing that surprised her. Immediately upon touching the card, she sensed that there was something off. She felt... Motivated. Ready. Empowered. Shaking it off and grabbing the card fully, she shoved both the note and the card into her pocket and concealed it as best she could. That was all she really thought to do at the moment, because... Well, she couldn't possibly throw something so strange away. Not yet, anyway. She was about to return to her studies when she heard a loud bang from across the street.

A gunshot.

She shot out of her chair, panic taking hold of her heart. The Mangler?!

No... That was a gun. Not the Mangler's style.

But, what was it then?

Marina wanted to investigate, but it could be dangerous. She tossed the idea around in her head for a long while before finally clenching her teeth and charging out the door. Not before grabbing her trusty pepper-spray, of course. But that was beside the point. There already seemed to be a congregation around the house which she suspected held the gun shot's victim. Or shooter. Or both. Pushing the thought aside, she debated approaching. There were a few individuals there already, which in itself was concerning. But...

There was something about them that caused her suspicions to rise. Then again, that happened around everyone. So it was normal for her to immediately become skeptical of them. As one of the people, a man, walked away, she eyed him warily until he was sufficiently far from them. Marina couldn't hold back anymore. She strode towards the car with an obviously irritated aura around her. "Hello?" She called, before planting herself in front of them with a hint of a scowl. "I know I heard a gunshot somewhere around here... I feel like I should be concerned for my safety. So... Do either of you know the situation?" She asked, instinctively crossing her arms over her chest and raising an eyebrow. She attempted to soften her gaze, but it didn't do much.

(Whatever makes it fun for you.  They can't get killed by the mangler tho)

Jim reached his jacket pocket for his old fashioned Nokia flipphone.  He reached through the window and handed the girl his phone.  The background image of the phone shows a young couple looking over the grand canyon.  "Go ahead and call your folks... Its getting dark..." Jim scratched his roughly shaven beard.  Just then another woman approached the car and asked about the gunshot.  Jim tried his best to explain.  "I thought it was a gunshot too so I burst inside the house to help, but nobody was inside..." He rubbed his temple.  "We'll  get to the bottom of it, don't worry."  Jim told the woman.  Jim watched as the young girl play with a black card.  At first he thought  girl had her hands on his Anubis card... However, under closer inspection, he could see that the inage on the card was different from anubis.  Also, the symbols on the edge of the card said nothing to him.. Just random shapes.  "That card... Where did you get it?". He asked her.

Sunni looked as a woman came over. Man, all these random adults popping up and preventing her from going home... The girl listened as the woman questioned the gunshot. Again with bursting inside a house and nothing being inside. The man then asked about Sunni's card. At first she froze, unsure what to say. She then decided that she could trust this man. The girl said this quietly, not wanting the woman to hear,

"I just found it in my books... I guess someone put it in there when I wasn't looking. It says something about having some powers?"

The girl laughed nervously.

"C-Could I borrow the phone now?"

It was cold. She needed to call her parents at least. After all, if she called her parents she could let the two adults and talk and whatnot...

"Yeah... Sure... Here..." Jim handed her the flip phone.  This confirms Jim's theory.  He's not the only one to receive a card from the Olympus Group... There are others.  Apparently this girl hasn't tried using her powers yet.  Jim tried to keep his excitement hidden from the other woman that came over.  Perhaps once the girl finishes her call, he could tell her about his card somewhere private.  He could gather information about the cards and what exactly they do.  This was a great breakthrough.

Sunni thanked him kindly and went a small distant away. A flip phone... a really old flip phone. How old was to man to own such an outdated device? She dialed her home phone and waited for one of her parents to pick up the phone. She was quite nervous to call her parents, because she knew they'd absolutely yell at her and probably more. Well, that's what Sunni would get for walking out of her house. Nobody picked up. Sunni looked at the phone, as if it was the reason nobody was picking up. She then called her home phone again. No answer. Mom's cell phone? Nope. Dad's cell phone? Nope. Her own cellphone? Apparently the call was canceled the moment Sunni called it. The girl stared at the flip phone again, wanting to scream in frustration. Well, getting home was now going to be twice as hard. Sunni racked her brain, trying to figure out where her home was. She knew it was one of those town houses with a small amount of greenery... The girl walked over to return the phone.

A brown, pirate-looking ship approached The Statue of Liberty. A loud music came from it and a man was standing on the Master Tree. "LAAAAND!" The figure yelled, jumping down with a steel cable on the ship's floor. As he landed, the ship's sails opened widely and the ship propelled forward. An enormous wave could be seen behind it, keeping it high and visible. The wind grew stronger and the ship went even faster. The sea's current was at the ship's favor, apparently following the ship's route.  Mini-drones with papers attached to them took off from it and flew towards New York, releasing them on all the people. They all spoke the same message: 10 LUCKY WINNERS WILL GET TO EXPERIENCE (OOC: tranquility, ayy lmao) THE BEST DAY OF THEIR LIVES! As it approached New York's Bay, the ship slowly lowered and slowed down. A man came out of the Pilot's Deck and took a deep breath. "So this is New York, aye?" He spoke to a nearby man, nodding to himself. In his belt was a weird-looking firearm and a golden trident strapped to his back, held to it by a magnet. The ship slowed down and soon came to a stop about 100m away from the bay. Anchors fell down in the water and a boat was slowly getting put onto the water. Gabriel finally stepped on the boat and small waves propelled it toward New York, while he made small gestures with his hands. As soon as he arrived, he looked around. "Pretty good, yes, stunning." He exclaimed, crossing his hands and leaving a glass-suitcase full with a million dollars onto the bay. A little note was attached to it...

"Hope you like this little gift :3"

He then sighed and started walking towards the street, where a car waited for him. He stepped in and sat at the driver's seat and turned the engine on. He started driving until he came by a house where a cop's car was sitting on the street nearby it. Gabriel stopped and pulled down the glass. "Hey, officer, may I ask you, uhm, yes, something?" He asked pointing his finger at him.

Jim let out an exhausted grunt as he slumped down on his car seat.  What's the point of going undercover when every person recognizes you as a detective? First this girl, then that weird dogwalker, then that lady, and now this... pirate.  What the heck is this neighborhood anyways?  People just run up to crime scenes and expect any person wearing a trench coat is a cop?  Jim closed his eyes in frustration and tried to calm down.  "Yes, mister Jack Sparrow...how can I help you..."  He opened his glove compartment and took out a small police cap he found in a dollar store somewhere, he put it on his head.  "I'm officer Jenny, how can I help you?"  He looked at the pirate with lazy, reluctant eyes.  Make it quick... I have to drive this kid home and then I gotta do some more paperwork...

"Yeah." Sunni said.

She relaxed when she saw the man show his ID and badge. She could trust him. Sunni put on a smile and climbed into the seat next to the driver's seat.

"Thank you," she said. "Mr. Irons."

She was about to give her address when a fourth adult came along. At this point Sunni wasn't annoyed anymore. She was just... tired. She watched as the officer walked out of the car and started talking. Sunni listened quietly, returning her card to her pocket.

David Corrigan

David sat behind the wheel of his BMW E90. The car was pitch-black, with dark grey tint glass panes. He looked through the windshield, still observing the detective and Sunni for a short moment, before he zipped himself up with the safety belt, doing the same for William. David put the keys in the ignition and turned them, as the car gave away a mighty roar. "Well, I guess I'll take the rest of the day off." he quietly mumbled to himself. He looked through his phone, with several messages from random goons, reporting how the drug trade's been going. Similarly for his bank account, there has been some income over the day. Even though feeding the streets with drugs, the Demons gang was notorious for it's mysterious, unidentified new leader in charge. The gang activity rose over the last week, especially last three days. David knew it from the newspaper, and he knew that obviously he himself was it's leader. He kept thinking, but then he ultimately decided. "No-no. I'm taking the day off."

David pressed the gas pedal and drove through the city, choosing a random radio station and turning the volume up, so that he could hear the music well.

David found the song delightful and drove through the streets of New York as it played. The sun was shining, however it was long after afternoon. The tall towers of the city covered it in dark shadows, but there was plenty of space for sunlight aswell. The only thing that could make the day any better right now was... ice cream. 'Yes, ice cream. YES!'. The man returned to the parlor and sat by the counter. One of the female employees asked. "Will it be the usual, Mr. Corrigan?" To which the latter philosophied. "Would life be worth living if we repeated the same things - the same patterns everyday? Hell no!" Rising his hand, as if upset, but he wasn't. Then as David returned to his previous position, he thought about what he'd like and mumbled it out. "Darling, please!... Give me something... Hmmm... Okay, give me something - something chocolate. Do it now." The employee moved to the dispenser and gave David chocolate ice cream in a cone. He attacked the ice cream he held in his right hand and enjoyed it.

David got up from his seat and said. "If anyone asks, I'll be up in my office watching Game of Thrones and I heard a new episode of Steven Universe came out." Walking away, through a Staff-only door and going to his office. He sat back in his chair, still enjoying the cold ice cream, trying to eat with moderate speed as not to freeze his brain. He put his legs on his desk, feeling like a proper executive that made something of their own. He looked at his plans for tomorrow and wrote 'Visit Mom.' in between a business appointment and free time. By that, he actually meant 'visit mom's grave' but only he would understand what those words meant. David visited his father fairly recently, so he had no intention to do so tomorrow aswell. He took the TV remote in his hand and pointed it at the television on the other side of the room, turning it on and switching the channels until he found Cartoon Network. He checked when the next episode of Steven Universe would play, and found out that it ended around 5 minutes ago. "Bollocks. I'm always not on time. ALWAYS!" He added, a bit more upset. David finished his ice cream, and changed the channel to Animal Planet, starting to watch something about elephants.
