Episode 2: The Wolf of New York

Delphina watched as LA looked at the thugs leaving, she was tempted to push him over to see if he could survive since it seemed he mad that jump.  Delphina looked him over once more and it appeared that he did some type of lifting or exercise but it still bewildered her that he could make that jump.  Delphina walked over to the edge and took a seat next to LA while still looking him over.  Just from the look on his face, she could tell he wasn't a psychopath but he could be a reckless idiot drunk off of adrenaline,"You know I find it hard to believe you could make that jump.  I don't even think Michael Jordan with Usain Bolt's speed could cross that gap....Something....is telling me you are not lying.....,"She juggled the sucker around her mouth with her tongue and slipped out of her mouth slowly as she noticed the black box still sitting on the other building,"What is that black box?"Delphina questioned LA as she pointed at it using her sucker.  the box itself stood out completely since it was completely black and sitting in the middle of the other building's roof.  Just from looking at it from a distance Delphina it was somehow connected to the box she received.

Lavernius watched as the girl sat down and took a seat nearby. He felt like he might have seen her face before, but he didn't know where. Lavernius shook his head as the girl questioned how he made the jump.

"I think you're overestimating the jump there. It wasn't that extreme. As for how I did it.." LA took a moment to think upon it. "Let's just say it was a leap of faith and I succeeded." He watched her take the sucker out and raised an eyebrow just noticing it. "Why do you have a sucker?" Lavernius over where she was pointing and thought about the card in his pocket. "That black box? I have no idea what it is, honestly."

Matthew was making good time down the sidewalk when he heard someone call out "Hey! Wait".

Fuck, he thought to himself, and with a deep breath, turned around with a pleasant yet confused look. The man that had called out to him was not the commissioner, but another man. This guy wore a black coat over a button down shirt and tie. His face was unshaven, and his hair was messy. Just by looking at his appearance, Matthew safely assumed that he wasn't a cop or a paramedic or any other kind of first responder, although he was aware that this guy might be a detective. He would have to approach this very carefully. Matthew decided to keep calm and just say that he was on his way home, and had noticed nothing abnormal. He knew the police wouldn't find any weapon on him. However, if the man had seen the body, then that might result in some difficulties.

"Yeah?" Matthew answered, in a calm demeanor.

David Corrigan, AKA Mephistopheles

"What is your black card?" David demanded. "It lets you appear after death that's for sure. You've got balls to show up at the crime scene like that too." David added shortly after, walking a bit closer as he spoke, however keeping his distance yet. He didn't want to die from a sudden bone decomposition, or whatever else Matthew was capable of, and didn't want to be reveal his real name, so he gave his alias. "I believe we started off wrong. I'm..." David paused and shortly after continued. "Mephisto Pheles."

"Anyway, if you don't want to end up like a government lab rat, get out of here, and take my business card." David reached into his suit and took out a vanilla-white slip. On it was the fake name he just gave and a phone number, along with instructions. "All it takes is to call my name."

Jonathan was amazed at how sharp his eyesight was even at high speeds. He could clearly see their reactions as he sped past them, which are mostly the same surprised gasps and awkward double takes. Perhaps he shouldn't use his newfound power this much in public but he couldn't help it. This is too fun.  He then stopped just outside an electronics store that was still open as the news coming from the TVs in display interested him. Apparently, a new victim of the New York City Mangler was found not far from where he is right now. The mangler cases has always peaked his curiosity. Perhaps right now, there's something helpful he can do about it other than post theories on random forums. He decided to run towards where the murder took place.

When he arrived, the police are already gone and most of the gore have already been cleaned up. But the horror that occured in this place was still evident as scratch markings and blood stains are still present throughout the crime scene. It was as if the killer was a beast instead of some creepy psycho. It didn't even look like the killer was trying to hide his tracks. It was like they just attacked whenever they felt like it. Jonathan once posted a theory that a pack of wolves from the New York zoo are responsible for the attacks since the wolves suddenly disappeared a day before the first attack happened. But this was debunked when someone from the New York zoo also posted on that thread and told him that the wolves were moved to the Manhattan city zoo due to upcoming renovations. So it's not wolves, he thought. He decided to take a look around the murder scene and see if there is something he could find that the police weren't able to.

"You are pretty open when it comes to using your powers aren't you?"  A sultry female voice spoke behind Jonathan as he conducted his investigation.  The woman had red hair and wore only a simple black dress and red lipstick.  "You're not afraid of others finding out about you god card?"  She tilted her head and smiled teasingly.  She looked around the latest crime scene... the mangler was hard at work as usual.  There was blood in very hard to reach places... it was almost as if the victim exploded and all their parts were scattered all over the alley,  She smiled calmly at the puddle of dried blood staining the concrete.  She knew that even though the attacks were brutal and messy, the police would never find anything to lead back to the killer... there were no traces of DNA from the attacker even from such a messy place.  There were no hair samples or leave behinds that would tie back to the so-called "mangler".

"Forgive me if I startled you.  My name is Elsa.  I work for the Olympus group, if fact I was the one who gave you that card..."  A white mask appeared in her hand... a single eye was etched onto the mask's forehead.  "Don't worry, like the note said, I won't interfere with anything you plan to do.  I'm simply here to observe and help you use your powers to its fullest potential,"  She crossed her arms on her stomach.  "Consider me as the flight attendant in your personal journey.  If you have any questions about the black cards or the Olympus Group... I will be happy to enlighten you,"  She smiled kindly at Jonathan.

Delphina could tell he was telling the truth about the jump but something in her head was still telling her he was hiding something revolving around the box.  She brushed it off as if it was nothing.  Delphina looked at him with raised eyebrows,"Why don't you have a sucker?  Yea, I answered yo question with a question...deal with it, bro!"  Just as she finished speaking she popped the sucker back into her mouth countless text notifications could be heard coming from her phone.  Delphina pulled out her phone and seen that all of her siblings were texting her back to back

"SHIT!"  Delphina jumped up from her seated position and started pacing back and forth.  Looking over at LA with hope,"Do you have a car or motorcycle!"  Her face washed with desperation and hope, but it quickly faded as she thought about the New York traffic.  Looking at LA once more she thought about the "leap of faith" he took and thought if he could do it she could do it,"Either this is gonna be a good day for my father or a terrible one!"  Delphina walked away from the edge a few feet then took off sprinting.  getting to the edge she pushed off and as jumped she felt like a huge push come from the ground launching her high into the air than humanly possible.  Landing on the opposite building with a casual roll to make sure her landing was safe,"What the fuck!!"

Matthew listened to him as he spoke. When he mentioned the black cards, he managed to hide his surprise. When the man said his name was Mephisto Pheles, Matthew gave a little inaudible snort of disbelief. It was obvious this man was hiding something. That, and he knew about the black cards. Either he had one, or he was part of this "Olympus Group". Before Matthew could say anything, the man had said something about rats, and then handed him a business card. Matthew studied the business card, which read the same name the man had just given him. Perhaps he did have such a strange name after all. "Alright, thank you" Matthew said with a small smile. Putting the card away, Matthew then said "I really need to be getting home now", and gestured toward the street in front of the alley, where more emergency workers had arrived, "you should probably do the same". Hoping he had gotten his message through, Matthew turned in the other direction and quickly walked off.

Sunni had finished homework. There wasn't much. She took out her black card again, feeling its smooth surface. She decided to take a walk. Sunni opened the door to be greeted by the cool evening air. She walked outside, still staring and fiddling with the card. It had said she had the powers of Demeter, but she really doubted it. Where did this come from, anyways? The girl kept walking. Her face was blank due to how deeply in thought she was. Sunni hadn't realized it, but she had taken so many twists and turns that she had walked to somewhere she didn't recognize. The girl noticed this when she almost walked into a car. Her eyes widened as she took in where she was and what had happened. Her hand practically slapped her pockets, searching for her phone.

She had left it at home.

Crap.

Sunni panicked. She could be anywhere. Anyone could find her. She could get kidnapped and nobody would notice but her parents. The girl's hands clenched into a fist. Her heart pounded, but she tried to look calm.

Jennifer sighs, continuing to wander around on her aimless walk, caught deep in contemplation about that card she'd gotten earlier. Her phone had died in her pocket about thirty minutes ago, since she'd been stupid enough to forget to charge it all day, and at this point she was just wandering around just because why not? She was incredibly lost, but, she didn't really care all that much. She'd be able to find her way home...erm...eventually, hopefully. Still, not much for her to do but keep walking. She wasn't paying attention to her surroundings.

Eventually she bumped right into someone from behind, snapping herself out of her internal contemplation. "Gah! I'm sorry!" She says almost immediately, backing away a few steps. She really should have been watching where she was going. Now that she got a good look at the person she'd bumped into though, they seemed pretty young to be wandering around on their own, although, looks could be deceiving. "Are you okay there? You seem a bit distressed?"

@Shmivian

@AllQuiet

Someone bumped into her. Sunni inhaled sharply and tensed up, quickly whirling around to meet whoever was about to murder her. Her eyes were wide, trying to take the figure in front of her in. A young adult of a woman, who had asked if she was okay.

Don't trust strangers.

The most important rule when it came to city life was to not trust anybody the people you knew well. So the girl smiled angelically, putting her hands and the thing she was holding in her pocket. That kinda looked like Sunni was trying to hide something. She kept her black card in her pocket and instead took her hands out of her pocket and instead kept them at her sides. She tried to look anything but distressed, or worried, or lost. No, she was fine, she could find her home. Everything was fine. Everything was fine

"I'm okay!" She said cheerfully. "I'm just going on a walk."

The girl stayed still for a moment. The cars still made beeping sounds as they drove past. People were passing by Sunni and the woman on the sidewalk. Sunni added,

"Well um, yeah uh... bye!"

Sunni started walking forward at a fast pace, threading herself through crowds of people. She was scared that this woman would follow her and keep asking her questions. She was scared that anyone would find her and ask her questions.

Jennifer immediately started following Sunni, quickly weaving through the crowds. Sunni's rather immediate retreat away from her had her a bit curious and suspicious. She had a bit of trouble keeping track of Sunni, but, she managed to keep a far enough distance that even if Sunni looked back she wasn't likely to notice her. She took a moment to realize that she probably looked like a complete creep, like some sort of stalker or kidnapper. She probably looked like she had some sort of malicious intent, but, well, that was quite unavoidable.

And now, she had something else on her mind as she chased them down. Why were they running in the first place? And what could they have possibly been grabbing at in their pockets? A weapon? Something illegal? She was quite curious. Plus, well, it wasn't like she had anything better to do anyway, and besides, something interesting might come from randomly chasing this person around.

Despite thoroughly searching through every posibble nook and cranny within the vicinity, Jonathan couldn't find anything other than dirt and trash. Disapointed, Jonathan relized that detective work isn't as exciting as those noir films showed them to be. "Perhaps I missed something...", he said to himself as he tried to remember if he forgot to search some part of the murder scene.

"You are pretty open when it comes to using your powers aren't you?"

Jonathan was caught off guard when this woman appeared out of nowhere. "Jesus, what the heck man?", he blurted out in surprise. How long has she been standing there? The red-haired woman, who called herself 'Elsa', was wearing a black dress despite the freezing cold winds of the night. The woman was pretty, and Jonathan might have fallen for her under different circumstances, but something about her didn't sit right with him. But she did make him think about the possibility of him getting caught using his powers. Sure, he could just run away from whoever is trying to catch him, but it would be difficult to find a place to hide if everyone knew who he is. He should probably look for some way to fix that.

Elsa then explained that she was from the Olymous group and she was the one who gave him his card. She also told him that she'd be willing to answer any of his questions, which delighted him as right now he has many questions he is aching to find out the answer. "Well, I hope you have all night, 'cause you got a lot of explaining to do", he joked. "What is the olympus group? Why are they giving out power-giving cards? Why did you choose me? What kind of criteria do you have for selecting people to participate in whatever you are doing? Did you give cards to other people? Why-", he was going to say 'why are you so drop-dead gorgeous?' just for the sake of being silly but the idea of having other god-card owners gave him a terrifying thought.

"Is the mangler a god-card owner?"

"Is the mangler a god-card owner?"

@IamNotLoki

Elsa chuckled at all the questions.  "Easy there tiger, If I answer too many of these questions you wouldn't have the motivation to answer them yourself!"  She grinned.  "Okay first question... what is the Olympus group.  We have nothing to hide.  We are simply a group of very dedicated people who want the best for humanity.  We seek to bring humans and gods back together... just like the ancient times.  We are not magicians or vampires... no, we are simply ordinary humans with the time and money to invest in such pursuits..."  She explained simply.

"Why are we giving out power-giving cards?  Simple question with a simple answer.  We want to observe what will happen if people are given a link to the powerful beings we know as "gods".  Like the note said, this is an experiment,"  She looked up and tried to remember the next question.

She laughed loudly.  "Chose you?"  She looked at him with a hint of amusement.  "Simple.  You were compatible with that card,"  She tilted her head.  "If you weren't compatible, you wouldn't be able to use it!"  She looked wistfully at Jonathan.  "If we conducted this experiment in a different location where we have another person compatible to the card... they would have been given that  card instead of you..."  She explained.  "But don't worry, we do consider you a very valued participant and we will do everything in our power for you to use this card to its fullest.  You are very clever to immediately realize that there are others who have cards just like you... you should be a detective!"  She praised.

She paused and thought about the last question.  "The mangler... If he or she was a card holder, I'm afraid I cannot divulge that information.  The Olympus Group strives to keep the identities of its participants private.  The same reason why we will not tell the other participants that you are a card holder yourself.  We do not want to give anybody an unfair advantage..."  Elsa tucked a lock of hair behind her ear.  "The other information I have given out is available to all participants.  We want to try and make our group as transparent as possible without ruining the experiment.  We want to make our participant's experience as comfortable as possible.  I believe that if we keep our organization shady and mysterious, you wouldn't feel very comfortable,"  She said formally.  "Did these answers put your mind at ease?  Remember, it is my job to help you in any way I can..."

Lavernius watched confused as the girl stood up, panicking. He did have a car, but it was back by his apartment. LA was further confused as the girl began to walk towards the other side of the rooftop. When she turned around to face the roof he had just come from, he stood up. "No hold on-" LA tried to say, but the girl already took off. He watched her run across the roof and his blood pumped faster. Then, LA's eyes nearly popped out of his skull as she suddenly launched herself into the air and landed on the opposite roof. "WHAT THE FUCK!?"

@Shmivian

Sunni turned. Shit, the woman was still following her. The girl turned quickly and looked at her with huge eyes.

"Why are you following me?" Her voice was breathy and her sentences were chopped up from her heavy breathing. "Get away from me!"

Her hands were oddly warm in the cold evening air, as if they were gathering energy. Her every muscle was tensed up, ready to fight or run at the speed of sound. Her mind was racing. If this woman really did want to kidnap her, then Sunni would scream and everyone would notice. If this woman even did or said anything close to kidnapping, Sunni would run.

It was a bit odd. Because there was the side of Sunni that was scared and afraid, but there was a voice inside of Sunni that said "You're okay, just kill her and you'll be fine." Sunni, noticing this, became even more scared and backed away ever so slowly, not wanting anything to happen at all.

Jennifer finally slowed down to an eventual complete halt, taking a moment to gasp for breath. "You were really desperate to get me off of your trail, huh?" She mutters to herself. "I just...wanted to ask something...jeez..." She says sighing angrily. "You're doing something illegal, aren't you? Otherwise, why would you have been acting so suspicious earlier, huh? And why else would you have been wandering around by yourself? You seem way too young to be wandering around on your own, so, I inferenced that maybe you were doing something illegal." She asks, taking a single step towards Sunni. "That, or you're lost, in which case why the hell did you run away immediately? I mean really, retreating immediately after you see someone is pretty much asking to get chased down... Seriously, did you not realize that? I mean really... Look, I just want to talk, ok? No need to be scared, ok? Just, just give me a second to catch my breath real quick..." She says, seeming quite exhausted.

@Shmivian

"Oh no, I'm not scared. I really just need to get home." Sunni spoke, her face like sunshine, her smile beaming bright. "I'm honest, I don't have anything illegal, and I would rather prefer to return home alone."

Some extra emphasis on alone. She looked up at the sky, sort of for no reason other than the irony of coincidentally seeing someone make a daring leap across two buildings. Her eyes widened before she put her attention back to the woman facing her. She smiled and decided in her mind:

Fine, catch your breath and say whatever you need to say.

"What do you want to tell me?" She asked after a while, hoping that the woman had caught her breath.

It was getting a bit cold, even though Sunni wore a fuzzy jacket and long pants.

Mentioned: @AllQuiet and @Eagleye415

Jennifer glares at Sunni. "I know a lie when I hear one, kid. Nobody in this kind of situation, being interrogated like this, puts on this kind of cheery facade unless they've got something to hide, or the person interrogating them is onto something." At least in the comic books, she mentions to herself in her head. "If you really aren't doing anything illegal, well, than what's in your pockets, huh? I remember seeing you shove a hand into one of your pockets before you made your hasty retreat. Seemed a bit like it didn't matter before, but now? Now you've got me curious. Go on, show me what you're hiding. I'm betting it's some kind of illegal drug." She says smiling. "And if it is, well, I've got a civic duty to call the cops. After all, possession of an illegal drug is, well, illegal. Now, I hate to sound like some sort of thug, but, you either show me what's in your pockets, or you're not going to get away from me. If it's something illegal, or something I think may be related to an illegal activity, like, I don't know, a mugging, I call the cops so they can come detain you, otherwise, well, you can just go your separate way. If you try to run without showing me though, well, I'll just chase you down." She says, shrugging. "I hate to have to be a jerk to you, kid, but I just don't believe you, and, well, you're acting suspicious enough for it to be quite justified." She was completely bluffing, but was doing a quite convincing job of it. Her phone was dead in her pocket, so, she couldn't make a call if she wanted to, but, she would drag this kid all the way down to the nearest police station if she was doing something illegal... If she could figure out where exactly that was. She had no real evidence that Sunni was doing anything illegal, other than inferencing based on her actions, so, this was probably just a waste of her time. Didn't mean she wasn't going to be stubborn and stick to what she was doing though.

@Shmivian

@AllQuiet Sunni didn't know what to do. So she calmed down and let her gut take over.

"Sorry," Sunni said, her mouth still curved upwards in a pleasant smile. "But if you do chase me down, wouldn't that make you look like the villain?"

She walked close to the woman, looking at the woman's eyes with her own dark brown ones.

"You'd look like a kidnapper," Sunni's voice was a bit quieter. "And we have quite a lot of people around us, don't we?"

The girl stepped back and grinned, back to her sunshiney self.

"Well, I really don't have anything illegal." Sunni reached into her pocket and held out the black card. "Just a card. No marijuana, no drugs, nothing bad or suspicious."

Sunni was terrified, almost certain that whatever happened next would be horrible. She backed away some more, starting to walk away. Maybe now the woman would leave her alone and not ask any more stupid questions. What can a child do to just find their way home? Now that Sunni thought about it, she could go to the police and have them drive her home.

Jennifer seemed a bit confused for a moment. "That's quite the odd card..." She mutters to herself before quickly rushing over to Sunni, who seemed to be currently making a rather slow retreat, to apologize. "Alright, yeah, I believe you kid. You can go if you want. Sorry for hassling you." She says. "You wouldn't happen to know anything about some group called, uh, what was it...shoot...uh...it's on the tip of my tongue...oh nevermind, I can't remember the name right now. All I can remember is that I got some strange card from them, and, well, nevermind, I'm just babbling on about unimportant things here. I'll just let you be on your way." She says letting out an exasperated sigh and just turning around and walking the other direction, having decided to just leave the kid alone, since the kid obviously wanted to head home. Besides, that kid had kind of creeped Jennifer out a bit.

@AllQuiet and now we can interact with the other characters! (I plan to make my character meet lots of people haha.)

Sunni stood and listened to the woman with a cheery expression, though she was extremely exasperated at the woman's multiple attempts to talk to her. When the woman finally walked away the girl smiled and walked her own way to who knows fucking where. She looked around her, everything becoming less and less familiar. She was sure everything would be fine- either she would find home or the police would find her and her parents would beat the shit out of her. Either way, Sunni would be okay and nothing too bad would happen. Sunny looked back at her black card. If she really had powers, why didn't she feel powerful? Why couldn't she use her powers right now, to make food or something? Maybe she had to be an experience magic card-holder? What the woman had said also intrigued her. Were there other people with black cards like her? What exactly were these cards? The girl walked mindlessly forward, unaware of her surroundings.

"Are you sure you want to go there alone?"  Detective Hamilton asked Jim as the rugged commissioner took one final look at the file on his desk.  He looked at the home address of the victim of the shooting he witnessed earlier this afternoon.  Mathew Hansen.  The commissioner scratched his beard and placed a hand on Mark's shoulder.  "It's not a big deal.  I'm just a bit curious, that's all.  Keep investigating the Mangler case... This is just a small sidetrack that probably wouldn't even lead anywhere..."  Jim said, giving his subordinate a lazy grin.  "I need you to organize a chart for me when I come back.   I want the names of each suspected mangler victim, their photographs, their backstory... Everything.  I want all the victims pinned up on the pin board in chronological order... I'll try and bring back donuts,". Jim said as he put on his old grey trenchcoat.  "Alright alright..."  Mark said reluctantly, pushing his blue framed glasses up.

the commissioner took a civilian car... A dusty blue ford focus and brought it over to Matthew's address.  He figured that if the boy had any relatives, he would tell them about the awful news that happened earlier today.  It's sad news but he needed to tell the. Exactly what happened.  Part of why he didn't ask Detective Hamilton to come was because a discussion might occur where he will have to ask about the black cards.  Jim didn't want to police to know about the black cards...at least not yet.

Jim got off the vehicle and made his way to the front porch of Matthew's home.  He pressed the doorbell button and waited.  No answer.

Thankfully, Matthew had seen no more of the man from before, and was able to quickly return to his home. Hustling in and locking the door behind him, Matthew stood in the entry hallway into his house, pondering what to do next. His one-floor house was small, with a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, a dining room that also doubled as a living room, and an empty room that he did not know what to do with. While he was thinking, it occurred to him that it would be unwise to stay, as the police might have probably discovered his identity, and would be soon coming over to collect evidence. He decided that he would need to quickly pack up.

Grabbing his backpack, he quickly stuffed some necessary items in: clothing, water, some toiletries, food, etc. He would need to prepare to be out for a while since he was now presumed dead, and the house would go up for sale after the police investigation. It wasn't like he could just move back in. He threw in his laptop as well, since he still wanted to do research. Once he had packed all the basic stuff, Matthew went to his living/dining room and flipped his only armchair over on its side. Taking a screwdriver, he unscrewed the secret lid underneath. Inside the hidden compartment sat a large stash of cash, as well as several narcotics. Matthew had forgotten about the drugs, which had been given to him by his fellow gang members in order to celebrate a particularly successful drug scheme. He had never bothered to try them, but they would need to be destroyed. He flushed the drugs, and carefully placed most of the cash in a secret pouch in his backpack that he had created as a precaution.

Once he was done packing, Matthew laid down on the bed, tired. He knew that he had to leave soon, but he wanted to sleep first. Better to start with more energy he rationalized. On instinct, Matthew stood up, and walked over to his kitchen. Opening up one of the small cabinets, he found a half-drunk bottle of Jack Daniel's. He poured some of the amber liquid into a small shot glass, and silently toasted his "new" life, and downed it. To his annoyance, he didn't feel anything, not even a small feeling of warmth. Nevertheless, he was still tired, and when he got back to his bedroom, he flopped down and quickly fell asleep.

He was awoken by the sound of his doorbell ringing. Matthew didn't know how long he had been asleep, but stumbled to the door regardless and peered through the peephole. The sight of a grim-faced police officer on the other side made him recoil in surprise. He didn't expect them to be this quick. However, he knew that he needed to act fast. If the police found him, they would undoubtedly take him into custody. They would be quite interested as to how he was both dead and alive at the same time, not to mention the fact that they would discover all the shady stuff that he did for a living. The best route for Matthew right now would be for him to escape, but how?

Shit Shit Shit, Matthew thought as he frantically thought of a way to escape. And then he realized. Quickly returning to his room, Matthew reached under his bed and grabbed his gun from under. The gun was still loaded, and the safety was off. Matthew stared at it. Dare he do it? What if the first time had been an accident of some kind? He really wished that he could have gotten drunk first, then he would have pulled the trigger without hesitation. A second ring of the doorbell snapped Matthew out of his indecision. Fuck it. Putting his backpack on, and tucking it under his jacket just to make sure it stayed with him, Matthew rested the barrel of the gun against his chin. He felt the lump in his pocket that contained his wallet reassuringly, and then pulled the trigger.

The shot was loud, and its noise ricocheted off the walls of the small house. Matthew collapsed once again to the ground. Once again, the feeling of dissolving quickly arrived. Thankfully, this time death came quicker.

"No offense, but I don't think giving out powers to random people would bring the best out of humanity", Jonathan voiced his opinion. "Like, have you seen the 'X-Men' films? This is literally the plot of 'X-Men'! Humanity can't even handle having people with different colors, I doubt they can keep it together when they discover super powered humans running around." He blushed when Elsa praised him for figuring out that other people were given god cards. "Hehe, I'm not that clever. I was just guessing since, like, y'know, err-", the rest were incoherent mumbling noises that even Jonathan himself wasn't able to understand.

He tried to analyze every word Elsa said about the mangler. Maybe he could get something out of it. The mangler... If he or she was a card holder, I'm afraid I cannot divulge that information. Does this mean the mangler is a god card owner since she's very adamant about giving information about them? The Olympus Group strives to keep the identities of its participants private.  The same reason why we will not tell the other participants that you are a card holder yourself. But what about those who are not participants? Would she tell him if someone, who is not a participant, is a card owner? He looked at her intently, trying to look for clues from her facial expressions that may give whether or not she's withholding information. But then, he remembered that he has no idea in reading body language and he found himself admiring her dark round eyes.

Jonathan scratched his head. She didn't confirm nor deny anything about the mangler and he can't prove she's lying so he's back to square one. "Let me get this straight, so you won't stop other card owners in doing whatever they want with their powers right? Even if they attempt to destroy half of New York City or even the Olympus group itself?"
