Fantasy Entrance to 'The Rift' {Accepting!}

{Still accepting sign-ups. I'll start the RP once I get at least two more people. Preferably female characters for diversity.}

Role-play will begin now. Those who want to sign-up can still sign-up. Just remember that I'm looking for more female characters.

PLEASE READ Before Starting: Entrance to 'The Rift' {Sign-Ups Open!} - Rules Here is how the RP will start. For those that sign-up now and a bit later you will end up near the gateway to 'The Rift.' You have no idea how and why you are there, but you find that there are others beside you. You have the option of deciding whether your character starts off sleeping and waking up near the gateway, or find yourself warped all of a sudden. Up to you. Now then allow me to officially kick things off.

Within 'The Rift' there lies an ancient temple, and inside that temple lies a giant door. The guardian of this temple sits in wait as he listens to the animals outside in their natural habitats. A slight breeze comes into the temple and brings a feeling of comfort to the guardian. He sits and waits for he knows that today, of all days, is the day he will guide a group of individuals. This particular guardian is not of old age, but of a young adult. He gets up prepares to welcome the new group. "Well now... it's been a while since I've had newcomers here. I wonder how they'll adjust?"

- At the other side of the Gateway -

A bunch of individuals will find themselves here with no reason as to how and why they are here. This is where their journey starts, and a new beginning will shine on through like a morning glaze in the sky. The individuals will find themselves near a large door in the middle of a mystical forest. The door is covered by some sort of tree and in the middle of door seems to have some sort of insignia. (Okay, so I guess I'll do this first. Okay, HERE WE GO!!)

Lilith opened her eyes, and light blinded her for a quick second. She blinked a few times, and rubbed her eyes before they adjusted to the landscape around her. She glanced around, at the people beside her and the strange door in front of her. She tilted her head in confusion.

"What the..." Her voice trailed off. "Who are all of you? How did I get here?" She asked, stepping out of the formation they appeared in.

Jet's appearance in this place meant nothing to him. I've gotten used to all of this, warping and appearing in places out of nowhere... Yeah, all in a day's work. "The same way I did, probably warped by some good guy who wants to beat the bad guys... That's usually how it goes" Jet said in a cold, calm tone. "It's all the same to me, just now... That we'll eventually be fighting some big bad guys and fleet's of small guys to beat the bad guy, it always goes like that... I really don't care anymore" Jet looked around, he was in a forest of sorts, not the usual place he'd expect to be warped to... But it was all the same.

He looked at the one that asked the question and said. "Now then... Since I clearly I see I'll be working with you and some others, I'll ask all of your names, so without further ado, I want them" Jet now had a loud tone to him, as if he was a commander. His face was expressionless, as he grabbed his 2 swords. Behind this someone good or evil awaits us, I'll be prepared. He got in a readied pose while looking at them, his aim was to jump back and be behind his target then get the info he needed off them. Is he/she with us or against us? Always a good tactic to know.

"Oi, Ioanni, Weigh anchor and shove off. Lotso waves a'tween us and the next."

The salty air-brush wind played at the captain's face as he looked out toward the new bearing. Fangway Gorge was several hundred nautical miles to the south of their current port, and after a short holiday for the men and a restock of supplies the crew of the Crescendo was ready to disembark. This particular gorge was known across the seas as the domain of the great Archeoclops, an ancient creature with a nasty reputation for eating the hearts of visitors and ships that happen to pass by the unfortunate land mass. With a hearty howl Quinn hopped onto the sail rope and slid by hand to the deck.

Normally Captain Despereaux was not one for foolhardy crusades for the greater good, to defend the helpless people of the world from monsters, to put demonic spawn from hell back from whence they came, to show his true heroism and courage! Huurahh!

No that was not the goal. Despereaux simply overheard a conversation one evening while drowning himself in a local dirt-hole pub. These particular loud gentlemen were discussing the vast vast reward for the capture or destruction of the Archeoclops.

Quinton Despereaux and his crew were not the courageous and selfless hero sort, but they were willing to do anything, even tangle with an ancient eyeball monster from hell, for the possibility of treasure. What else would one expect from pirates?

He would never meet the monster though. He would never meet the deck of his ship that day either, for after releasing the rope his boots did not meet the familiar wooden deck, but soft and spongy grass.

"What the devil?" his head on a swivel, he scanned his surroundings. Several other humanoid figures, trees, a large door, and no sign of the great ocean he was overlooking just seconds before. The others were already talking. A boy demanded names, a girl meekly questioned the situation. Quinn was not to be left in the unknown. He locked eyes on the boy.

"Avast lad! Learn yourself some manners. I'm the captain Quinton Despereaux, and I'll not be left in the dark." he drew his flintlock pistol. "What 'ave ya done with my crew?"

Lilith furrowed her brows, in confusion. "A mission? Quest? Adventure?! What in the world are you talking about?" She asked, flailing her arms while she spoke. She took a deep breath and stopped. She tried to get a bit more of a calm state, then spoke again. "You may call me Lilith, or Lilly. But I have no plans in joining this 'adventure'." She crossed her arms, sternly. She jumped a tad bit when another man spoke up, threatening the younger boy. She blinked and stepped back, to give space. "Sir, I apologize, but I'm just as lost as you are. Apparently, the only one who knows what is going on, is this young fellow. Or at least knows more than we do." She claimed.

"Be careful to whom you point that, it might bite you in the ass later" Jet simply looked at him with a calm expression. "Let me guess, both of you, it's your first time being transported into the middle of nowhere to do something or whatever?" Jet asked. "Mhmm... I thought so... and since I'm not getting names, I have no issue here" He turned his back to the group, looked at the door in front of him and ignored anything else they had to say. He gripped his swords tighter. I'm ready, when are you going to appear? It had always gone like that, someone was going to open it and he needed to know if he was in another world or dimension, if he had a way to get back to his world, if he had a way to just live his life again.

Before he had been warped Jet was walking to a village because of rumors of Sanzi, The Roaming Samurai being there, and if he was, Jet could've killed him and taken him back for the bounty he had on him. Jet wasn't necessarily a bounty hunter, but if he found someone or heard he was close by, he'd go kill them for the money, just like a bounty hunter. Maybe If I can leave this time, I'll do so and get back to looking for Sanzi in the village, or if I am far, I'll go to another place, just please let this be my world.

As the three individuals stood within the forest, the large door soon began to shimmer a bright light emanating from the symbol engraved on it. From the other side, the guardian saw the same light emanating from the other side, it was as if the heaven's were opening the pearly gates. The guardian simply stood still, closed his eyes and muttered a chant. "Heaven's gleaning on the land, Hell's fire burning the soul, and the world moving at it's whim... may the door of fate open once more." With the chant said, the door began to open very slowly, and it would be perhaps a bit of time passed before it is fully opened. From the other side within the forest, the three individuals would be able to see the door slowly opening as well.

(Anthenna's POV: )

My eyes blinked slowly as I woke up. Huge stony doors blocked my vision, emitting a growing light. Diamonds? Did I fly into a diamond field? How in the world did I get that lost?

I rolled on the ground, and used my beak to push myself up. From the sounds, there were people there, arguing. I should be careful to find out who they were before revealing who I was. If I was seeing well, there were for of them. One spoke in riddles, the youngster (well, they looked like youngsters, but that one in particular looked very very young). Two of them spoke normally and own spoke in a language I had never heard before.

I needed information. To get it, I'd have to pass as what I looked: a bird. To that end I chirped, and shook my body, taking slow chicken-like steps. North, west, east, south, north, east, south, south, west, etc...Each of my steps Ibraised my foot randomly to simulate the bird's way of wobbling about . I couldn't deny I was awake, so I might as well fit my oart until I knew whether K could or it trust these people.

Despereaux did not lower his weapon, but he did move his finger from the trigger. He was not in the mood to blow the skin off of a youngster, but he was in unfamiliar surroundings and he would not let his guard down. The boy was aloof to the point of incorrigibility; the Captain did not respond well to disrespect. They must be somewhere far off the beaten track, hundreds of miles away from any mass of water for these people not to have heard of him. He gritted his teeth. It occurred to the Captain that he was the least calm of the bunch. The boy was nearly robotic in manners, and the girl was calmly explaining her innocence and ignorance. The boy clearly had no more information than Quinn, but he did seem the most prepared. The others seemed no more knowledgeable than he, so for the most part they were on equal footing. This gave the Captain a slight bit of clam in this storm. It was clear these people had not absconded with his crew; he would hold his temper until more was revealed.

A particularly noisy bird bounded about in the grass nearby, and was slowly and surely getting on Quinn's nerves. He grumbled to himself. 'Don't 'ave big birds like that on the sea. Where's my ship gone?" He could not muse on the thought for very long before the jungle came alive before him. The large door inside the tree trunk began to slide, revealing a sliver of light beyond the wooden gateway. An eye flicked to the door, but the pistol stayed trained frosty in his hand. No suprises.

"Behind this awaits a fight, I believe..." He whispered under his breath. "You, the guy with the gun, get over there" He pointed to the left, there was enough things for the man to hide and shoot at anything if he needed to. "And you!" He looked at the woman. "Yeah... I'm not sure what you can do, useless then" Jet positioned himself once again, as to rush whoever was going to appear from there, his cold, calm but serious look screamed that he had been doing this for quite a while now. Well then, if he does as told and the other one doesn't interfere with my plan, it will all go good, with this, he could at least wound them for me to finish them off, or I can fight and he can shoot for kills, with that gun, he must be at least decently useful. Jet didn't respond well to people who didn't follow instructions, so he expected them to not be annoying, seeing as they were also warped here with him.

Riptide was lying asleep on his back not far from the rest of the group, which was making quite a ruckus at the moment. His eyes slowly opened and found himself staring up at a star filled sky . Huh, I must have slept longer than I thought. That thought was immediately replaced with one of bewilderment. How did he end up on dry land? He hadn't been on dry land in a good couple of years. Sitting up, he yawed as he rubbed his eyes. It seemed as if there was a small group of people standing around, preparing for something. Having nothing else to do, he stood up, brushed the dirt off his clothes and walked over to the people.

"Hello friends of friends!" He said in a cheerful voice while waving at his compatriots. "The last thing I remember, I was chasing off some stupid blond pirate and his crew and I seem to have gotten lost somehow, would any of you know where I am?"

Quickly, he spotted a pretty looking bird doing it's own thing. Never before had he seen such a beautiful creature. He practically squealed and without waiting for a response from the rest, he ran over to Anthenna.

"Bird friend!" He shouted as he bent down and picked her up.

Sakura opened her eyes and picked her self up "What the hell?" She saw a opened door and some people 'round it. She walked up to the group with a scowl. "Which one of you brought me here? You're all gonna have a bad time if nobody answers."

Lilith couldn't wrap her head around anything these people were saying. She blinked and face a face the youngest boy, who insulted her usefulness. "W-well, I do have powers you know! I'm useful. In fact, I could go on the journey without you... Watch me!" She turned toward the door and walked through, preparing herself for the worst. She felt her body tingle with a strange sensation, then she opened her eyes slowly, viewing something that was unbelievable. She went wide eyed and gasped in awe.

As the light on the door shone, the guardian from the other side decided to test this group's capabilities. To survive in 'The Rift' meant to cooperate and trust each other, as one would with family. This is not a world of complex works, but rather a very simple one. Surviving simply means as it would in any other world. Trying to survive is the only difficult part. "Now then...," the guardian scratched his head trying to think, "What should I use to test them?"

The guardian had thought about it for a moment, and finally decided on the perfect candidate for the job. With his two fingers, he emitted a sound similar to a whistle, and soon a large ape-like creature wearing armor soon ran towards the guardian emitting a low growl. With a simple touch on the forehead, the ape's eyes soon turned blue and became instantaneously obedient. "Go... I want to witness their power for myself. If they are able to defeat you then they are ready," and with the words of the guardian the door fully opened and the ape went on through. The ape would find itself on the other side where the group was, and soon it let out a low predatory growl.

Note: The Ape itself has an actual height of 8'5.

Jet sighed, as he backstepped. "Get back here!" he shouted at the woman. I swear if she kills herself by stupidity... He smiled, the ape was about 8'6 or something like that, and the fight was about to begin. He looked at everyone behind him, with a grin, this meant it was fight time, and then he jumped up, with swords in hand towards the giant ape-alien, for some reason, he felt like fighting it. He came down from his jump with swords in hand, one going for the ape's head the other in his hand pointing upward, and his posture ready to land on the monkey's arm for when it would swing at him. "Well then..." Jet's calm mind hadn't wavered, but his movement style did, he walked normally with a cool posture, but when he jumped up, he was like an acrobat about to land a 10.0 trick. The fight, the only one thing that can be enjoyable when you find yourself with a band of people that you don't even know of...

Quinn raised a single eyebrow when he received his orders. He scoffed at the gall of this child. "I'll not be taking orders from one on the level of cabin boy." His hard head kept him from thinking about the repercussions of not working together with the group, but his pride convinced him that as captain, he was not to play second fiddle. His ears burned when a newcomer began speaking.

He whirled around to face a tall blue man speaking ill of the crew of the Crescendo. Before he was able to contest the rudeness the blue man ran off to pick up the annoying bird. He moved to speak at the man, but was interrupted by yet another newcomer demanding answers. Everyone was chattering at once, and it was impossible to focus on anything. It was chaos in this wooded clearing. Quinn began to lose his temper.

Before he could address the group again he was interrupted by the opening of the door. The young girl who'd awoken first had an argument to the cabin-boy's rudeness and ran head-on into the ether beyond the door. Her leaving was answered by the entrance of a large ape-like monster Quinn had never seen before. Out of the corner of his eye Quinn noticed the cabin-boy getting ready for battle. Of all the chaos and nonsense occurring in the clearing, Despereaux decided this kid was the more capable of the group. Nevertheless, he needed to get control.

The cabin-boy leapt without a word. "Blasted Fool!" Quinn growled as he pulled his scimitar with his right hand. This boy clearly was not used to working in a group.

"Keep in your heads lads!" he called to the group. The boy landed at the monster, slashing away with his swords as Quinn lifted his pistol calmly, working on a shot. He knew he couldn't go for a kill-shot. Not with this monster's armor. He'd need to debilitate the creature. A shot to the shoulder or hip could reduce limb movement, giving the kid more openings to cut at. One thing was for sure, Quinn was sure as the devil not going head to head with that thing.

(Anthenna´s POV: )

<Oh no...> I thought, while chirping in agonizing fear as the blue guy pulled me up quicker than I could react, though I did flap my wings in struggle. It took much of my willpower to just prevent myself from protesting with actual words, and instead continue doing the chirping noises. I still I hadn´t got much of any kind of information, and although it appeared as if they didn´t have it either, and it wasn´t like they could wound me in any fatal way, knowing too little could STILL get me in trouble. Not that I needed to really do anything to be in trouble, now.

The giant ape roared, eyes blue (a rather unnatural color, probably coming from ome form of spell) and staring down at us in rage. If I still had my old body, I would most likely have been able to calm it down myself, but while I was like this... I looked at the others. There were more here now. A red-haired woman in savage clothing, wielding a bow. A blond pirate with all sorts of blades. A girl in blue, matching her eyes. The blue guy, holding me. A boy in weird clothing, already up for a fight with the moneky, even though that would most likely make it angrier, only...In fact, practically anything we COULD do would make the moneky´s rage grow.

I could probably fly away and leave them behind, but with that blue guy snuggling on me, I couldn´t do that without hurting him, or setting him ablaze. I couldn´t set him ablaze! He had done nothing wrong, not that I knew of anyway...

The ape responded with the attacks by simply swinging it's right arm towards Jet and Quinn. The gunshots from Quinn would hit the shoulder, but seems the beast could still move. It let out a ferocious roar, indicating that the group became it's prey. Soon it beat it's chest with both arms to signify dominance and started to attack Lilith by charging straight at her. The guardian simply watched from the gateway to see how this group would handle it. "Hmm... the swordsman seems to work alone, which will be a problem. Everyone else is still adjusting to the situation, however if they get through this then they have some chance of surviving."

Jet grabbed on to the monsters arm with his left arm and was basically hand standing on it with one hand on it's arm. As blood rushed down to his head, he slashed with his right arm at least 15 times at it's chest before letting go of its arm and trying to stab its chest with his left sword. Did I hit? He asked himself. He then, all with incredible speed like his slashes, made some space between him and the monster by jumping backwards. This would all be easier if it would be a clear battlefield and just the 2 of us.

The soft breeze was a nice relief from the heat of the sun and set to cooling her pale skin as her long tendrils of blonde hair danced on invisible strings, spurred on by the small gust of wind.

She'd been sleeping in the meadow again it would seem; her staff clasped deceptively tight within the folds of her petite hands which rested softly on the peak of her stomach, gently rising and falling with the motions of her breath, her normally sky blue eyes hidden beneath closed lids.

She'd dreamt that she was falling; away from her homeland, away from those she knew- falling towards a strange land unlije her own. She wasnt afraid, Ludivine was not oft to fear, though she pondered the meaning behind such a dream; what purpose would her leaving serve?

The thought had barely crossed her mind when she heard the distinct sound of conflict; though she could not understand why such things would invade her dreamscape and she grew tired of this dream, her eyelids twitching sporadically before slowly opening.

The sun was warm on her skin, filtering through the canopy to bathe the forest floor in a plethora of greens, yellows and oranges as she raised herself to her feet, taking a further moment to process her new surroundings.

Her blonde tresses hung loosely about her shoulders, spilling down her back as she surveyed the area, her gaze coming to rest upon the shoulders of a few individuals caught in the heat of battle with what seemed to be an armoured ape of some variety. Though, unskilled in combat herself, Ludivine sought answers as to her present location and also the purpose of her being summoned so as such, she strode determinedly towards the group, her staff drawn as though in anticipation

@Anyone

The ape roared in pain, as if a child cried out as he or she first came out of a mother's womb. It had caused the ape to lost control of it's emotions, and ultimately itself. There was an intense sensation being emitted from the beast itself, almost as if it was calling out to it's challengers. It is similar to when an alpha male proves it's superiority over the pack with it's gaze. With the cuts created from Jet formed onto the ape, it let out a very ferocious roar. An intense feeling of anger boiled from it's stomach and let out a fierce punch onto the ground, creating a sort of small crater. The real destruction, however was the shockwave that emitted from the impact as it shook the entire forest. Everyone present would be able to feel such power from the shockwave, almost as if a tornado had quickly gone on through.

"Hey! Pirate! Go for the chest shot! Aim only to kill!" Jet said, as he sheathed his 2 swords and prepared his fists. With incredible speed, he dashed behind the ape and aimed to restrain him. Sure, he might get bit, sure, he might lose a vein from a monkey bite but at least he could take a rest and not have to kill the monster, since Jet didn't want to dirty himself with blood splatter. Now then... He dashed at the monster from behind, he could've easily killed him alone, but if he had teammates, might as well make them count. He aimed to restrain him and tried to put his arms below it's shoulder and take them up to put him in a sort of lock.

The pistol shots had gone unanswered by the beast as if they were mosquito bites. Quinn growled and holstered the firearms, drawing one of his parrying knives instead. Cabin-boy was still slashing away and dancing about like a dolphin, but he seemed to be making some progress. Either that, or making things worse by angering the monster further. Quinn stepped toward the duelists with blades in hand. His intent was not to attack, but distract. His strategy was still to give Cabin-boy an opening to strike. Cabin-boy ordered Quinn to go for the chest shot, but Quinn knew it wouldn't work. If the bullets did no damage to the shoulder it was likely that they wouldn't penetrate through the to heart; if the monster even had one.

The beast was swinging it's massive battering ram like arms hither and thither, and making a real mess of things. Cabin boy danced on one side while Quinn, well balanced and more stoic, sliced and parried on the other, double teaming the beast. It looked as if they would succeed until the monster let out an earth rippling howl, sending branches and leaves up in a torrent at it's feet. Quinn was ripped off of his feet and sent careening back toward the others, his blades stolen by the gust and tossed aside. His body connected flatly with another, taking them both to the ground.

Quinn rolled to the side, off of the woman he'd landed on. A tall, beautiful girl with striking blonde hair lay next to him clutching a staff and looking none too pleased about Quinn's introduction. He lifted himself to his knee and spotted his blades several yards away. As the girl lifted herself up Quinn turned back. "Apologies love, got business." With a wink and a cocksure smile he stole off after his weapons; the rampaging beast was only getting madder by the minute.
