Both Ryan and Peter tried to reassure her that Arlene could be okay and it didn't mean she was dead just because she was missing. Sinead sank back a little into Peter's hand as she felt his soft touch on her back and then slowly nodded. "I know she's a strong person, so... I hope you're both right," she softly reasoned.
Sinead managed to smile again at Ryan's joke about sticking a note on Thomas. "Aww, I'm sure he'd love that," she remarked, rolling her eyes. "But you should probably leave us your number and address, then James can find you?" she suggested. "I mean, I could just give you his address - you can hardly miss the place. But then, he does have some serious, moody men guarding the house and I suppose they won't recognise you, will they?" she pondered.
With Peter's suggestion that Ryan should get over to the prison, Sinead had to agree, as much as she wanted to catch up with her friend. "Yes, you really should be quick. Conor will be so happy to see you, I'm sure! Tell him to hurry up and get out of here before I rent the spare room out," she playfully threatened. "And tell him I've made the room extra sparkly and fluffy for him," she added. Was it a joke, though?
Once Ryan had departed, Sinead briefly checked on the children before returning to the kitchen. She rested one hand on the worktop as she gazed into the filled sink and wiped a stray tear from her cheek. It wasn't just the talk of Arlene that had overwhelmed her. It was Ryan's return, Peter's unwelcoming attitude towards her returned friend, and the mention of more children she would have loved to have had. With Peter so distant and the kids grown up, she felt a void in her heart. She hoped the club and her own gigs at least could keep her distracted from it all.
