Elderwood
There’s a little town down the river, circled by an endless forest and protected by the fae. Those stories fill Elderwood’s folklore, although many people have lost faith in magic there still exist a few that know the truth behind those “tales”. The days of swords and magic have long been over so instead of a crown the four founding families rule Elderwood through a proper council now.
A letter has come this morning, an invitation to a ball celebrated tonight. No one recognizes the name of the hostess, no one except for your parents apparently. You’ve never seen them paler, they try to hide their fear but it’s obvious. Has Elderwood era of peace finally come to an end? You have a feeling that’s the case and as the heir of your family you have the duty to attend to this ball with your parents.
Founding Families (Fairies)
The Spring Heir: (Claimed)
The Summer Heir: (Free)
The Autumn Heir: (Claimed)
The Winter Heir: (Claimed)
Supporting Families (Fae Descendants):
The Shapeshifter Heir: (Claimed)
The Kitsune Heir: (Claimed)
The Witch Heir: (Claimed)
The Medium Heir: (Claimed)
Fairies are the original founders of Elderwood, these magical beings can create the elements attuned to their magic and have no consequences when casting spells. Those that descend from fairies but aren’t actually fairies are still able to use the fae magic their attuned to but can’t create the elements associated with that magic (only control them) and overusing fae magic will have consequences on their environment.
Spring Magic:
Spring represents life and growth but is the hardest magic to control entirely, Spring magic is the most potent form of healing magic because it grants power over vitality itself; this allows the caster to control plants, light and earth. The Symbol for this type of magic is the Clover Suit. Casting too much Spring Magic doesn’t directly affect the weather as it only calms it in the case of storms and makes plants overgrow around the caster.
Elements: Plants, Earth, Light.
Type of Spells: Healing, Shapeshifting, Summoning and life force transference.
Summer Magic:
Summer magic is the most offensive oriented magic, using fire and water spells to overwhelm the opponent. Is also the most suitable magic for having fun at parties as its spells deal with preparing food, charming people and are less complicated to cast. The Symbol for this type of magic is the Heart Suit. Using too many Summer magic fills the caster with irrational joy and fun, also it clears the sky so the sun can burn brighter.
Elements: Water, Fire, Steam, Sand.
Types of Spells: Charms, Food Creation, Cooking, Telekinesis, Summoning.
Autumn Magic:
Autumn represents death, decaying and ailments, it’s the opposite of Spring magic as can only be used to harm and deceive. The Symbol for this type of magic is the Spade Suit. Repeated use of Autumn magic causes plants to wither, food to rot and cloudy skies with powerful electrical storms.
Elements: Air, Lightning, Darkness, Poison.
Types of Spells: Illusions, Curses, Necromancy, Summoning.
Winter Magic:
Winter represents perpetuity and preservation, winter magic is mostly used for defense and not directly offensive objectives since this magic is the opposite of summer magic. The Symbol for this type of magic is the Diamond Suit. Using too much Winter magic causes snowstorms to appear in the sky and liquids to freeze around the caster.
Elements: Ice, Crystal, Metal.
Types of Spells: Wards, Divination, Scrying, Binds, Magical Contracts, Longevity, Spirit Communication, enchantments and Summoning.
The most powerful magical beings playable, they can create the elements of their magic out of nowhere but their magic is not fully accessible to them while in human form. They must transform in order to use their full potential (including creating elements), if not transformed they are weaker than the other races. While transformed they have a pair of wings on their back that allows them to fly and they gain immunity to the specific fae magic they are attuned to.
They are related to spring fairies but not enough to be one, they specialize on shapeshifting (not needing to use a spell for it nor using magic to maintain it) and their true appearance resembles a fusion between a human and a chameleon.
They are related to summer fairies but not enough to be one, they specialize on charms (they don’t need to use a spell or maintain the charm with magic) and their true appearance resembles a fusion between a human and a fox.
They are related to autumn fairies but not enough to be one, they specialize on spell casting but are unable to create elements and their true appearance resembles a fusion between a human and a raven.
They are related to winter fairies but not enough to be one, they specialize on communicating with spirits. Aside from their powers they don’t have a supernatural appearance, although they all are naturally white haired.
