Fandom Dragon Age: Origins- A Retelling

@Jazimon True. And that would make it all the more interesting if Altibon doesn't end up having to use his heal spell. Though he will have his sustained spells active, those are not too obvious.

@Jaye I agree, finding out how each other fights is usually a good idea so you know what to expect in a fight.

@Viper Cool, I'll have an IC opinion for your toon from mine once you get it up.

Can I just say how much I love how interactive you guys are! Ever since you all joined there have been nearly constant conversations, which is nice to see in a group RP.
Oh yeah, and I'm going to make my character tonight/tomorrow. So keep an eye out!
Woo! Looking forward to seeing the Noble.

It bodes well that we're all chatting - lets keep it up! (Feels all nice and cozy (:3) )

@Hodgic - yeah exactly. Proper intros can wait but if we're gonna fight together we should probs know how to fight... together ( :P ) Also I just realised that between Altbion, Kallana and Alistair we have three front line fighters? We should give Alistair a crossbow and tell him to go hang with Reeva ( :P ) That was a joke, btw, I make no real suggestion about what to do with Alistair.

I can use Alistair as a warhorse and shoot arrows from his shoulders hahaha

@Jazimon - «insert terrible 'riding Alistair' joke here» (^U^)
Yea I was trying to avoid that by not mentioning the word 'mount,' Haha

Can't wait to see it :] Also... *sniffle* I love you guys haha

@Jazimon @Viper @Jaye Even though my character is a front line fighter he is more akin to a Dex based tank due to his sustained spells. Spell Wisp boosts his spellpower. Combat Magic gives attack/damage bonuses based on spell power. Arcane Shield gives defense bonuses based on spellpower. Heal gives heath with a bonus based on spellpower. Aura of Might gives a attack/damage bonus to Combat Magic. And Fade Shroud gives a mana regan bonus and a dodge bonus. Effectively Altibon doesn't get hit as much and when he does the damage is reduced even after the armor reduces it.

And that is why I love Arcane Warriors in Dragon Age. Mix them with the Spirit healer (which gives even health regan bonuses +healing) And maybe even Battle mage (for the specialization bonuses alone) and you have a good melee damager with some magic that barely gets hit. I am not even using my full toon build for Dragon Age and Altibon is this overpowered. xD

Caines thoughts on his future companions.

Kallana: I have never met a dwarf before yet this one is far from what I expected. From the stories I thought she would be a drunkard and be fearful of the sky, yet she holds her head high and speaks like a noblewoman. In fact, she reminds me of Howe a bit, friendly to your face but capable of great violence when she deems it necessary. Still, we share much in common and I see no reason why we couldn’t work well together. We both are of noble blood and know what it is like to have responsibilities that put you in the line of assassins and other dangers. Not to mention we were betrayed by one we thought we could trust, all in the name of politics. I look forward to learning more about this woman and her race.

Altibon: This is a weird one. Not only is this an elf, but a warrior mage? I have never heard of such a thing and a mage with combat training makes me a bit uncomfortable. The only interaction I have ever had with mages was when one of our men got wounded in battle and a mage from the circle healed him. Healing magic has saved many of our men, it is a gift. I do hope that this elf will be able to control his magic, and I won’t wake up one night to an abomination standing over me. Even the Chantry blames mages for the Blight… but I will try to stay open minded. Fear shall not cause me to judge him prematurely yet I will remain wary.

Revas: I must say that this one carries herself differently than the elves I know of. Most elves I know serve, either in the Circle or a human, and even those from the alienage seem to be rather docile. I had thought that this was normal elven behavior, yet there is darkness in this one’s eyes and the distrust for humans she wears on her shoulder. She appears more exotic than most of the others I have seen yet, with her scar, mannerisms, and tattoos. Not to mention she is blind in one eye; I wonder how she uses a bow and arrow with such flawed depth perception… Either way, it is nice to see a fellow rouge, and I hope she will not judge me simply based on my race and that we did have elven servants.

@Viper

Altibon's thoughts on his final comrade.

As with most nobles he seems a good man as any other noble. And it seems he can play the politics game well, even if it wasn't as involved as it is with the dwarves. Despite being more...mischievous? than myself it seems we have some similar qualities. Although those similar qualities seem to have come from different reasons. Just as the rest of us it seems he met his fair share of misfortune, not that there won't be any in the days to come.

@Viper @Jaye @Jazimon

I might end up having Altibon switch over to massive armor at some point during the role play. That way he can be more of an aggro holder than he already is. That is if we continue to use the system in DA:O where the heavier your armor the more initial aggro you get.

Viper I have some comments to make for gameplay that I didn't really think about until now. Not a must obviously, just something to think about.

When we get to that point (of adding a second specialization) wouldn't it be better to allow us to gain more talents/spells (even if only 2 or 3) rather than just change them around? Normally a well balanced character would have 5 or 6 from their combat tree, 2 from their class tree and 2 from each specialization tree. In this case I consider the combat trees things like Shield, Dual Wielding, Primal, ect; and the class tree the mage/warrior/rogue only talents/spells. What I mean by specialization tree I would hope is self explanatory. In total by the end this amount of skills would give us 9 or 10 talents/spells, which is still less than what you can get in game. In game it is likely that one would get a total of 16-20 talents/spells by the time you face the Archdemon. I can understand just having 6 since that is what you get on console versions for your quickbar, though they really just mean for that to have activated talents/spells with sustained ones activated either case by case or before battle from the radial menu. Since we aren't having as big of a focus on combat (and we are not using a dice based system) reducing it from 9/10 to 8/9 would make more sense.

Aww @Viper I just read your character sheet and now I'm sad that you don't even like playing human :[ Originally I wanted to be a Templar, but we're sticking to the game's origins so I couldn't. BUT I'm super happy Caine knows how to LOCKPICK *glares at Zevran*

@Viper Caine: A shem, a 'noble' shem. I suppose he will expect me to serve his every whim, no doubt. I have to wonder why a Noble would even become a Warden. Surely there were other options available than this? But even Nobles must have enemies to face, and I find myself wondering if I will become one of them. He seems playful, though, funny even. But I don't trust that one bit. I've been taught all to well what the Nobles do to their elven servants; I've got my eye on you, mister! I like his dog though... (Revas is going to be SUPER wary of Caine, especially considering his nobility. She'll come around eventually though, especially if he lets her play with Ares.)

(( @Jazimon that is the best gif holy crap yes.))

@Viper Kallana's thoughts on Caine: a human noble, now there's a thing. I'm not sure I understand human politics well enough to understand him, yet. He's in a familiar position - being not quite the heir like I was - yet he doesn't seem to play The Game as hard? I couldn't imagine not acting as if I where a potential heir, but he doesn't seem to do that. He's an odd mix, basically. Incredibly familiar yet utterly alien to me. I look forward to plying human political knowledge out of him and seeing just how cut-throat he can be.

Oh man, Revas is going to be so depressed for a number of reasons. Her friend died (because of her) and she's away from her Clan. She joined the wardens to die, and she's going to survive, she used to be coveted in her Clan for her knowledge of Elvhen lore... she was one of the 'smart ones.' And now she's going to feel like a total dumbass because she doesn't actually know anything about how the real world works.

Expect her to be irritated and mopey, haha.

I'll probably start it up Monday, if not sooner, I want to replay a bit of the game and get a feel for it again.

Usually I would post a bigger side like this bottom one, but since this isn't a Dice game stats don't need to be displayed constantly. Whaddya think? It'll save space as well, while still displaying information we might want to see. (And yea I know we don't be writing down points or anything, but I still like to keep track of the health of my character.)

Yea, I know it's just something I personally do xD

@Jazimon - um wow that's beautiful like srsly holy carp. I might try removing some of the white space but I would like to use that yes pls thank you. (Excuse me guys if I use this post to fiddle around with that side bar).

@Viper - yeah, replaying the game seems like a good idea. I'll probably do that to if I get time. Speaking of - when you say 'Monday' what time zone is that? Or how much plus/minus from GMT is it? (I'm in AEST so... your Monday is probably my Tuesday).

Here's what I'm using in another RP. I'm thinking of changing Revas' to be like that since I like the style, but it also might be too much for the type of RP this is, haha. I'm just the kind of person who references my character sheet, as well as everyone else's character sheet, very often in RP's.

That's mostly why I liked the idea so much - I especially like to have a picture of other characters on easy reach to reference while I write. (And the white space was it looked like there was some blank lines? I'm not sure I'll see what the coding says).

Hey where you gonna have the mini sheet hidden in the accordian or where you gonna have it out all the time? Urgh if that made sense?

Hidden, to save space. In the first post I showed I had it out both ways and was kinda trying to ask you guys which looked better. Hidden or always out.

I would go with always out, personally. I think the side code is a really nifty way to show all the info but not be intrusive. That and I don't like how opening a spoiler or accordian moves the text around if I write a few paragraphs ( :P )

My only issue with always out is I didn't want people to be sick of looking at it, haha. Let me update it really quick and I'll see what you think.
