Fandom Dragon Age: Origins- A Retelling

@Jazimon

I will allow you to use poison on your arrows as well as on everyone's weapons. As to the inventory/ harvesting question, neither really need to be maintained. You cannot just assume that you gather the herbs though, your character will have to actually do the action in the RP and since I am not factoring in leveling of you or the enemies, the combat will be pure RP so it will be up to you how many arrows you use and as long as you don't act like your quiver holds 100 arrows at once, there will be no problem.

I was planning on making my character a human noble and the dog (Jazimons companion choice) is a part of the human origin, so we will not be including that quest. The side quests of Ostagar are not really important either and so I was planning on keeping it purely centered around the main quest which includes the ritual, the cache, and the Tower of Ishal. I think the first few side quests we will really experience will be when we enter Lothering and encounter the highway men.

A lot of the questions I have been asked so far have been about how 'in depth' this RP will be to the game so I feel like I should explain. The best way to think of this RP will be as just another casual fantasy RP taking place in the DA world. It will act very similar to most adventure RPs on this site, the fighting, what we do in 'down time' and where we go are all up to the RPers. The differences are that instead of a world where anything is possible, the world is already created for us and I will be pulling direct quotes from the actual game whenever possible. Inventory, armor and the like are not going to be included unless it is directly involved in a quest (ex-King Cailans armor) or if you want to mention what you are wearing in order to help create a mental picture. Just like most RPs it is up to the RPer to decide if their actions fit the situation, are not overpowered, and add to the story.

Yay poison arrows!! And hurrah for Human Noble with Dog :] So who are our camp companions officially? Alistair, Morrigan, Dog, Leliana... and was it Zevran or Shale? And I do like that the RP will be laid back a bit. We can enjoy the DA world, and still have a major plot to complete, so we'll always have something to do.

That was my intention when I created the thread :) I was thinking about my companion choice being Zevran from the beginning so as of now those six are our companions. The rest will be left to die or ignored.

I have no regrets picking dog. None. What are you going to name him? :]

I don't know yet. Since he is a war hound I was thinking about something along those lines of war or battle. Ares, Fang, Fenrir, Set, etc I am opened to ideas though!

Oooh Ares sounds cool! And yea, trust me, you don't want me to help with ideas for names for Dog. I always named mine either Waffles, Applesauce, or Sprinkles lol.

Mmmm, sounds like Peanut Butter haha
Yeah, that wasn't the intention. He looked just like the beagle from the movie My Dog Skip and thus was named based on that beagle. He was a good dog.

My Dog's ingame always had pretty wildly different names, so don't look at me. Though I think I called my first Dog Bloodspawn? I was a little violent in that playthrough ( :P )

It's cool to hear about how casual things will be. Honestly, yeah, I just wanted a fantasy RP to be set in Thedas for once. A brief idea - when we enter new areas, we could potentially find quests by doing something like "I look/search to see if anyone seems like they need help." at which point Viper/GM or our own post can reveal various sidequests that don't directly find us. Also, we can of course say (whenever we enter a place) "I check the Chantry Board!" or "I go looking for the Mages' Collective!" and stuff to find those quests too.

Since Shale is not one of our companions, I assume we'll just skip all of the Stone Prisoner DLC? Aw~ Now Kallana can't show off her shiny new golem when she returns to Orzammar~

Alos awesome! Yeah a Human Noble should even things out pretty well, character/story-wise. Looking forward to seeing your CS!

Also my character being a mage would be more likely to want to help the Mages' Collective; especially once he find them.

@Jaye We actually will have Shale on our team (although he wouldn't be following us to Orzammar anyway) You asked for either Shale or Zev, and since I specifically asked for Zev, you technically asked for Shale.

@Viper Oh that's neat! I never had the Stone Prisoner DLC, so I never got to play with Shale. I've heard all it's banter though and I love it :] (Or her maybe, since it used to be a lady? I dunno.)

I believe the correct one is 'it' as Shale has pretty specifically said that it is nonbinary (and even that it prefers it/itself pronouns). (Part of why I love Shale - idk if Bioware even really noticed, but horray for a canon nonbinary character!)

Also @Viper - ah! I got confused, no worries. I didn't realise you requested Zevran. That works out excellent then.

Can I just say @everyone - I think we have a really great mix here? (Of origins, characters and companions). It just really tickles me how great a range we have. Argh so excited don't mind me <_<

I'm excited too :] I can't wait till we get to see our last Human Nobel Warden! And I thought I remembered Shale saying something like that... but I read a lot of fanfictions too, and sometimes I'm not sure if I headcanoned something or if it really happened, haha.

Ah~ The good ole "Is this canon or did I read it in a really good fanfic?" I know that feeling well ( :P ) To be fair I don't remember it directly from the game - my memory is aided by a post I read pointing out that Shale is totes nonbinary and hey ain't that superb (:3)

Now I don't know if it was in a fanfiction, the game, or if I saw it on Tumblr! Either way they are non-binary, so they/them pronouns are the ones I'll be using.

Probably a mix of both. The post more jogged my memory - Shale does pretty clearly not identify as any gender, despite finding out that it used to be a female dwarf.

And no no! It uses it/itself pronouns all the time! It is so totally its proper pronouns! (I mean it uses it pronouns for other people too but <_<)

Ugh, that's what I meant (and what I originally used), I thought non-binary and my fingers automatically switched back to they/them. *Slaps hands*

Haha ( :P ) To be fair it's a good habit to be writing they/them. Shale is a rare one that uses 'it' after all.

I still think it will be interesting when everyone finds out Altibon is a mage. After all he will be clad in heavy armor and wielding a sword and shield, he has to be a warrior right? Nope, he is a mage through and through. Question is will @Viper have Duncan say Altibon is a mage from the tower or will he let him introduce himself? I personally like the idea of introducing themselves. Altibon won't say anything about his mage origins, not that he will be hiding it from @Jaye (Kallana), @Jazimon (Revas), and whoever the last Warden happens to be.

I don't think Duncan would be worried about introducing each other, apart from "Go find Alistair." He doesn't give a background on the other recruits in Origins, you have to find out by asking them.... if I remember correctly. Either way, I think it would if more fun if formal introductions took place AFTER the joining. Before it doesn't matter...because you might not live. (Not that we will know that but still.)

I gotta agree - I reckon Duncan will be all "Okay so you guys are recruits, go grab Alistair as he is marginally your senior and he'll tell you what you need to do before the Joining." and then we'll be left to our own devices.

I kinda like the idea of a brief "How does everyone fight?" between our characters+Alistair before the Kocari Wilds, maybe. And then proper intros after the Joining? idk. Maybe. We'll see what happens when RP kicks off ( :P )

Can I just say how much I love how interactive you guys are! Ever since you all joined there have been nearly constant conversations, which is nice to see in a group RP.

Oh yeah, and I'm going to make my character tonight/tomorrow. So keep an eye out!
