She nodded and kissed his cheek. “I know honey I know.” She murmured just holding onto him tightly, “you gonna take a walk with me? I did grab you underwear on my trip home yesterday to get the car. So your butt won’t hang out.” She smiled. “And socks.”

Jeff finished washing the dishes up and just nodded, wiping his hands off. “You both almost had an older brother. Many many years ago. He’d be 23 now… after losing him the last thing I wanted was to ever lose my kids again.” He assured them.

Alex took a deep breath and nodded some "Yeah that um...that sounds good." he said quietly trying to get up slowly with her help giving her a small smile

Luke looked at him in shock completely confused now "A brother? What are you talking about? Mom had another kid before me?" he asked not even knowing about the child he almost had with Max.

“Not with your mother. With max. Back just after high school. I wasn’t gonna throw away any chance to have my kids after all of that.” He told them both seriously. “Your mother loves you both very much. H fortunately in the process she has intentionally hurt all of us to keep you with her.” He said.

carmen helped him sit up, getting him the underwear she’d picked up, helping him balance while he got it on. “Come on let’s get you some fresh air.” She smiled getting his dressing gown for him as well

Luke looked to his sister and frowned some "This is a lot to process...I'm not saying we don't believe you. This is proof enough but...this is a lot to take in all at once." He murmured pulling his siater close who looked in complete shock and was silent.

Alex nodded some getting dressed and took her hand as they started to walk "I want to get married." He said firmly to her.

Carmen smiled at him some. “Oh yeah? What’s her name? I bet she’s lucky.” She teased him, gently bumping his hip

Jeff just nodded and spoke a little longer then let them go, calling max to let her know he had the whole day free for her now

Alex looked at her in all seriousness "Carmen. Her name is Carmen. I should have married her a long time ago. I want to get married Carmen, to you. I'm serious." He explained and stopped walking.

Max came over about 30 minutes after he had called giving him a small smile "Hey, how did everything go?"

Carmen frowned a little and just sighed quietly. “We can’t change what happened. There’s no time machines but if it’s important to you that we do this soon… yes Alex… I’d love to marry you.” She smiled up at him.

He shrugged a bit, taking her out to the lounge with the large sectional couch. “Better than I expected. They’re devastated. Luke took it better though…, you take a nap yet?” He asked her.

Alex smiled happily at her feeling tears prick his eyes "You will?" He asked quietly before moving closer to her "I love you so much." He said softly before kissing her lovingly

Max gave a small nod and laughed lightly "Sure did, as soon as I got home." She said before pecking his lips "Its a lot to take in thats for sure, but hopefully this helps them come around more."

She smiled some and shook her head a bit. “I don’t know why that surprises you.” She murmured, slipping an arm around his waist and continued walking with him til they made it back around to his room, helping him get comfy again.

Jeff nodded tiredly and yawned a little. “I know it is…. But we will get there. I’m sure we will.” He told her quietly, starting to fall asleep

Alex got comfy once their walk was done and smiled wider at her "Your ring is at home, I'll make sure to give it to you as soon as we get back." He said quietly kissing her hand gently

Max smiled softly and nodded cuddling up with him starting to drift off as well against him. She woke up about an hour later smiling a bit just staring at him as he slept peacefully

She rolled her eyes a little and watched him some. “You will be the death of me you know that?” She asked, moving to lay with him and just slipped her arms around him gently. “I can’t wait to get you home tomorrow though.” She smiled.

Jeff was snoring loud as he got the rest he’d missed that morning from being so nervous about how the meeting would go. In enough of a deep sleep that when the door opened cause Jake was home a little early it didn’t wake him up.

Jake walked through to the lunge, greeting the dogs as he went until he saw max ans his dad on the couch how they were and just raised an eyebrow. “I’ll uh… I’ll be in my room. Damn.” He muttered heading up there

Max frowned when she heard the door open and quickly moved her position to not be ontop of Jeff when she saw Jake "Shit Jake, um...hi." she said sighing heavily when he just rushed off with the dogs behind him.

Alex smiled sweetly and nodded some "I can't wait either. I'm ready to sleep in our bed." He said happily

Carmen sat up a bit when her phone started ringing, sighing as she realised it was Alex’s mom. “Your phone is at home she’s probably worried sick.” She muttered having forgot to call her with everything and just handed him her phone, going to the restroom and leaving him to talk to her.

Jeff grumbled when he felt her move away and started waking up, watching her carefully. “Mmmm where you going?” He asked quietly.

Alex frowned softly when he saw his mother's name giving a heavy sigh "Hey ma." He said softly as he heard her voice down the line "I'm okay, I'm at the hospital right now. I uh...I almost went into liver failure."

Max sifhed softly looking back at Jeff when she heard his voice "Jake is home...he saw me on you. He didn't look very happy."

“Alex where have you been?! You’ve had me worried si- you what?! You need me to come down there? Carmen alright on her own with you? What’s going on?” She questioned him.

Jeff grumbled a little and just got up. “Well seeing as he’s not supposed to be back til tomorrow night I don’t think he’d unhappy about this.” He mumbled gesturing between the two of them and went to go check on his son

Alex frowned letting her yell before giving a heavy sigh "She is okay mom, no don't come up. We're going home tomorrow, why don't you come over for dinner alright?" He said trying to stay calm "We can talk everything over then okay?"

Jake looked up from his phone when he heard his door open. He frowned at his dad and turned himself to face the wall not wanting to talk right then.

Carmen got back once he was off the phone and frowned a little, watching him “you okay?” She asked him quietly, moving to sit down with him carefully. “You know… how you told me not to eat that cheese pizza and I told you not to sass me….” She mumbled.

Jeff frowned and sighed some. “Come downstairs and talk when you’re ready okay? Max isnt staying the night. Just here for the afternoon. I don’t mind what we get for dinner alright? Let me know what you want.” He told him and headed downstairs again, leaving him to it for now

Alex gave a small nod and sighed some "Yeah mom is just worried. We'll have her for dinner tomorrow." He mumbled before giving her a small smirk "Coming back to bite you in the ass isn't it?"

Max frowned softly as he came back downstairs "I should go...I'm sorry if I've made things awkward." She said softly

Carmen just nodded, pulling her knees to her chest and frowned. “I’m ignoring that pun… mistakes were made.” She mumbled pouring at him a little.

Jeff sighed a little. “No it’s alright. Clearly something happened at his moms… I’ll see you tomorrow alright?” He smiled and oecked her cheek

Alex laughed a bit and kissed her temple gently "I told you to take those lactaid pills." He murmured

Max nodded softly and said goodbye before going off.

Jake came down about an hour later and frowned more as he looked at his dad "Can we get chinese for dinner?" He asked quietly

Jeff was finishing up dishes and just nodded looking over at him. “And I will order it as soon as you tell me what’s going on.” He told her quietly.

Carmen just grumbled a little and leaned back watching him some. “You’re kinda cute yknow.” She winked at him.

Jake frowned more and sat with him taking a deep breath "Luke dropped Cassie at Mom's. She started screaming at her. Saying how she was a liar and it wasn't good. I wanted to leave so Luke brought me back. Told me what happened and then I find you here with my teacher, the woman that apparently ended your relationship with mom." He said giving a heavy sigh before wiping his eyes quickly "Its just a lot to take in...I feel like my life has been one lie after another."

Alex chuckled quietly and held her close to him givjng her a smug smile "I try." He said happily

She smiled a little and just shook her head. “You think you’re still gonna be up for the ski trip in a couple weeks?” She asked him quietly, a little concerned about doing that with him.

Jeff sighed some “It was a picture that I kept in my wallet to remember my eldest son… it was never even about max but your mother never wanted to listen she just wanted me to be the bad guy so she didn’t have to be… your mother loves you. Very much.” He tried to reassure him

Alex sighed some and gave a small shrug "Not sure to be honest with you. We'll have to see how this medicine starts to work on me." He said softly to her

Jake frowned more and gave a small nod taking a deep breath "What...what happened to him?" He asked before looking at his dad straight in the eyes.

She nodded and smoothed his hair back, “I think we should still go. You don’t have to ski and I don’t mind not skiing either but it’s fine with your siblings and your parents and it’s a break from the madness.” She pointed out, snuggling in close to him.

he sighed a little and shrugged. “Just… didn’t make it past the eight month mark.” He told him quietly. “Nothing happened he just… didn’t make it.” He mumbled.
