Discover the Power

Raising his hand to reach for the boy as he ran, though failing, Isaac muttered under his breath. "Wait hold u-..." A low groan escaped him, and a clear sense of disappointment was expressed by his face. However, it steadily shifted towards a sense of rejoice as he saw Bliss. First, out of the corner of his eye, and then in full sight. His shoulders slumped in relief, as if a tension that had wrecked in his chest was finally released. With a few, pained steps, he made his way towards her, despite the disapproving looks of the village woman, who most probably was uncertain whether he was in good enough sense to be walking around just yet.

"Allo', ya'sleep well?" He let a slight grin creep upon his face, but immediately felt he was being almost too friendly, and had to restrict himself. "N-...Not that it matters or anything, I mean, as long as you can travel. I don't know." The tall boy's shoulders raised and fell in a light shrug. Isaac's eyes hovered around the village in which they were now situated. "Do you ... know anything about the place?"

Bliss stood in the doorway, biting her lip and trying to push her smile down. She placed her hands on his chest and gently pushed him back down to the bed he was laying on. "Go lay down." Bliss said softly, sitting next to him as he lay down. "And I slept fine. However... I only know that this is a village outside of the government rule. There aren't any officials. Plus the women here do not speak very much English." She said, staring blankly at the wall as she spoke. I'm such a coward. Why was I the one to pass out? She thought, gnawing on the inside of her cheek. Bliss then opened her mouth and lightly said, "We can leave tonight or tomorrow morning, depending on how you feel." She sighed softly and drew an odd circular pattern in the dirt that made up the floor. He will never trust me. Not if he thinks I'm always going to pass out if I use my magic. She sighed once again and rubbed one eye.

Isaac allowed himself to be pushed down, his expression inquisitive as of why Bliss seemed more reserved than usual. Despite the fact that usual could only account for the short time that he had known her. "I'm not all too surprised; if the Government does not have hold here, they're probably ..." He wanted to say savages, but it felt inappropriate after having experienced first-hand their generosity. But then, pretty much out of the blue, a thought hit Isaac; two people -... in a bed -... His face flushed violently, as he awkwardly flailed his way back to his feet, clearing his throat. "W-...We can leave whenever." Eye contact was reserved, and he kept his sight elsewhere at most times during the following conversation. "I-...I mean, yeah. No. Alright. I feel alright. We can leave whenever." After a few seconds pause, he'd furthermore add: "Also -... Hope you're not feeling down about the whole ... the incident. I'm surprised you managed to hold yourself for as long as you did." Both of his arms crossed across his chest, and he puffed himself up, still avoiding eye contact. "If anything, I'd say it was pretty impressive - ... If we work together, I doubt we'll have any problems on our travels." What travels? Were they traveling together now? He assumed so. But to where?

Bliss listened to him silently. She rubbed her other eye then rubbed her cheek, slowly standing and leaving him on the bed alone. "Sunset we will leave. Get some rest until then." She said simply, glancing at him. Bliss realized he didn't want to make eye contact so she took that as a sign the conversation was over. She gnawed on the inside of her cheek before taking a deep breath and leaving him in the little hit. By the time she got outside, Bliss leaned against the wall to the hut, shaking slightly as she sank to her knees, covering her face with the small fists she made with her hands. The girl was mentally beating herself up over being too weak for Isaac. She took shallow and shaky breaths and sat there for hours, trying to gather herself enough. Finally Bliss stood, walking over to her bag which was by another little hit. She picked up her bag and made sure everything was in there before nodding and sitting down by the outskirts of the village, keeping out of the women's way until Isaac had gotten up.

With time, Isaac would recover from his flustered state; the light red shade covering his cheeks dying down. After having calmed down, he made his way out of the bed, groaning lightly. She left. He'd give a slight pout, but wouldn't let himself stay disappointed. After collecting his meager belongings, he would make his way outside once more, only to be greeted by nothing but a dark sky and illuminating stars. Looking left, looking right - she was nowhere to be found around here. Isaac wandered about the village for a while, asking around, until finally, one of the residents informed him that they had seen Bliss walking towards the outskirts of town in that direction. Thanking them, he'd make his way towards said place.

As he lazily walked, still in semi-recovery, he shouted out for Bliss into the dark. "Ey', Bliss - ey ... egh." A slight worry overcame him. Did one of those shady officials pick her up already? The shouts he was throwing out into the dark became a tad' more intense. "Ey! Bliss? Are you here?" In such dark, where every shadow merged with the endlessness of the fields and forests, it was almost impossible to make out her small figure. Isaac's brows knotted as his concern rose.

Bliss sat in the tall grass, breathing softly as she waited for Isaac. She could hear his call for her ringing out and she stood, the grass reaching about waist height on her. The girl turned around and took a deep breath, her left hand producing a small, ball of light, like a little sun. She waved to him, the light slowly glowing a bit brighter. I'm over here, you prick. Come on, we need to go. She thought while sill waving to him. Eventually Bliss did catch his eye and she dropped her arm, biting her lip. She then began to walk over to him, letting the dark night sky hide her face. "Can I ask... How long will we be traveling together?" She asked gently, trying not to cross whatever line Isaac had drawn between them.

In the distance, he saw it - illumination. Quite smart, isn't she? His expression reflected his thought, but it was wasted due to the cover of the dark. As he approached her, he felt to some extent that she was very ... tense. As she stepped up to him, Isaac gave a slight smile in greeting, but it was quickly wiped off of his face at her question. His hand wrapped around his chin as he entered a state of thought and reflection. After a while of thinking, he shook his head and replied: "As long as we need to, right? I mean -..." He trails off, avoiding eye contact for a short while, "we're different, you and I. We should stick together, I'd say. But I won't hold you back if you have something else that you feel you need to be doing. Though -... if I can be of help, then do tell." The young man's hand fall on the back of his neck, which he awkwardly rubbed, facing her once more. Somewhat suddenly, both of his hands dropped on her shoulders in a friendly manner, gently grabbing her small figure. Isaac's head cocked to the side, and he let off a slight grin. "Hell, we make a pretty decent team, wouldn't you say? So ... really ... it would be a shame to split off already. Right?" Until either fended off or answered, his hands would remain on her shoulders.

Bliss extinguished the light when Isaac had gotten close enough to her. She took a deep breath and looked up at him, focusing on his face even though he refused to make eye contact as he spoke. There was a momentary silence as she searched for the right words to reply to him. Eventually, Bliss sighed a bit and chewed on her bottom lip before replying, "We are different. We are new and therefore dangerous. To be honest... I need your help. I've barley lived- if you call that living-" she then rested her hands on his on her shoulders, looking up at him still. The short girl stoos on her toes, trying to come into eye contact with him but it simply couldn't happen. She was too small. Bliss rolled her eyes a bit and rocked back on her heels, playing with the button on her denim jacket. What should I tell him? He'll just die because of me- she thought, biting her lip and dropping her head, knowing that Isaac would eventually get hurt because he decided to stay with her.

Isaac's hands rolled off her shoulders as she replied, and he gave her an understanding nod. "I doubt neither of us have 'lived'." A slight grin forms on his face, but he immediately takes it back. "And you're not the only one." The young man's eyebrows knotted, causing a sense of urgency and concern. "I need your help too, you know. Without your help, I most probably would not have gotten out of the city." His cheeks flushed slightly at her touch, but he took no notice of it at the moment; it was too dark anyway, right? As she dropped her head, a low sigh escaped Isaac's throat. She'd be scared, no? Of course she would be ... this situation ... encouragement. Or at least that was how he justified his next action. If allowed to, his large frame would curl around her - his arms wrapping around her and pulling her tightly to his chest. "Y-..." He stuttered at first, but quickly gained confidence. "You can depend on me, y'know? And I'll depend on you. But we've got to stick together and figure out why we are what we are, and maybe ... maybe we can truly 'live' someday." He'd let a few moments pass by before breaking the embrace, attempting to make eye contact with her the best he could. "Alright? So don't lose heart."

Bliss dropped her shoulders a bit when he took his hands away. She bit her lip and nodded at his words several times, not really letting them sink in until he admitted that he needed her help. She looked up at him and thought, There is something different about him. But thank god I have a reason to fight now. Bliss then opened her mouth to speak but gasped instead as his arms wrapped around her small stature and pulled her close to him. With shaky hands and a gentle touch, she hugged him back, burying her face in his shirt for a moment. Isaac pulled back and she did as well, keeping her head down so he wouldn't see her mad blushing. "Thank you- really. Being able to depend on anybody in this world is almost impossible. Heart will never be lost until I die, it better be true in you as it is in me." She said gently, rubbing her cheeks softly as Bliss raised her eyes to his, taking a deep breath as she took another small step back from him.
