Fandom Death Note - Rebirth of God

Katsumi smiled softly and wrapped her arms around her friends shoulder "Nah it was not any problem. I had nothing to do anyway." she admitted All I had to do was watch the police office with no one doing anything really. She silently added "Dont be sorry, I was bored at home." Katsumi patted her head softly "Nothing to be sorry about. Since i'm here, we can hang around and wait for school to start." a grin appeared on her lips "How about later we go over to your house and do some homework together. Because I know how you are with some sibjects." Katsumi was the one to have fun with her friends and study with them if she needed to. Kats was a nice girl. "If you dont want to, thats fine by me. I'll find something to do like always"

Inwardly Sayuri rolled her eyes at the sign of affection but outwardly she giggled and hugged Katsumi back. "W-Well I do need help with maths....But I don't want to take advantage of you!" She pouted and pulled away, hunching in on herself. Sayuri was fine with maths but to draw attention away from herself she always made sure to make her grades waver on occasion, nobody was perfect after all. "I'm sorry." She mumbled, kicking at a stone near her foot awkwardly and glancing up from the ground, towards Katsumi and back again.

Katsumi laughed "As if you'd take advantage of me. Even if you did, as long as i'm helping you, i'm fine." she shrugged "What do I keep saying, Sayuri, dont be sorry, theres nothing to be sorry about." she said, pulling her arm from Sayuri and walked with her hands at her sides. She didnt feel awkward at all "I wonder how much time we can pass just walking around and talking, what do you think?" she looked at Sayuri, smiling down at the young and shorter girl.

"Watch out...!" Akemi yelled, running straight at Sayuri with a soccer ball flying just next to her like it'd been hit real hard and fast. She flipped over on her hands and spun when a rock tripped her, her foot flying just short of Sayuri's head and kicking a soccer ball away that would've otherwise hit the girl. The soccer ball flew fast across the ground and into the top of a tree, avoiding people completely. Akemi slowly flipped back onto her feet, sighing in relief. "Sorry...!" She said, bowing to Sayuri and then Katsumi.

Akemi slowly raised her head, her eyes meeting Katsumi's for just a second. Oh...? Such a strong sense of justice... She though, turning around to return to her ball that she had shot into a tree. Her eyes met Sayuri's on the way, catching just a glimpse of something out of place compared to who the girl initially seemed to be. And you... Interesting look in your eyes... She though before running off to the tree where her ball had shot into, starting to climb up the tree fairly fast to get the ball out, her roommate who had kicked the ball helping out.

Sayuri blinked at the shoe in front of her face and the ball that had been kicked away because of it, her mouth was open partly and she stood completely still. Sayuri didn't even have time to respond when Akemi bowed. Their eyes met for a moment and Sayuri felt...something. It was as if Akemi had truly seen Sayuri, not just the petite, timid girl. She glanced at Katsumi and followed after Akemi, watching in awe as she clambered up the branches. "Amazing....Y-You're so fast." Sayuri peered at Akemi, studying her closely. She wanted, no, needed to have a conversation with the girl. "Thank you!" She called, hoping Akemi heard her.

(sorry it took so long, was in class >.>)

Akemi swung backwards, now hanging from a branch by her legs. She handed the soccer ball over to her roommate, who waved and said goodbye because she had a few pre-school things to get done real quickly. "Don't mention it. I was half the reason it was flying at your head anyways, so if I didn't stop it, it would've been my fault if you'd gotten hurt." She swung her legs forward and in, doing a single flip upright, then continuing into a full backflip before landing on her feet. "When you've been playin' sports your whole life, you get fast n' strong." Akemi said, stroking through her perfectly well-kept twintails, checking to make sure they didn't get damaged or anything.

"Still....that was a-amazing." Sayuri mumbled, still watching Akemi closely. Her hair was pretty different, bright red pigtails that eventually turned blonde at the ends, she wondered if it was natural. "M-My name's Sayuri, this is my friend K-Katsumi." She gestured to herself and Katsumi with one hand and held her other hand out shakily. Her expression seemed to be that of a curious deer, fighting between running and hiding or simply exploring the strange and unknown. Inside Sayuri was assessing Akemi thoroughly, depending on whether or not she actually took the hand would speak volumes, not to mention that if she did she could gather more information. Either way Sayuri would learn something about her, she'd have to keep an eye on this one at the very least.

"I'm Akemi, the nation's third best high school athlete, and eighth on the nation's test scores! Pleasure to meet ya!" Akemi said, taking Sayuri's hand energetically, but calmly at the same time. Not much to see here, Sayuri. Everything about me's hidden too deep to see. She thought, eyes completely full of energy and cheerfulness, perfectly energetic smile on her face as well. I can see a good bit about you though... You're just the kind of person I'm looking for... I have to talk to her alone some time. Akemi let go of Sayuri's hand after a few seconds, looking back at her roommate off in the distance for a second. "Well, I'd best get going now! We have another nationally-scored test today, and I plan on going up from eighth to fourth or better!" Akemi said before waving as she ran off. "Bye!" Was her last word before pretty much vanishing in the distance, clearly too fast for most people.

(I'll be on later today. Just gettin' something in for you to respond to right now.)

(Sure thing ^^)

Sayuri was disappointed by the handshake, Akemi seemed completely and utterly innocent and yet she had this nagging feeling in the back of her mind. Something wasn't right. Sayuri ignored it for now, she didn't have time to worry about other people anyway, she had to initiate her plans soon and that required preparation. Her hand moved to pat the pocket she'd stowed the syringe in and she heard the faint crinkle of the packaging, safe and sound. "G-Goody bye...." Sayuri's voice was drowned out by the ambient noise of everyday life and she turned back to Katsumi, grabbing onto her arm and smiling. "As we were saying." She looked up at her and waited for Katsumi to respond, she'd been awfully quiet this whole time.

@Britt\-21

Katsumi watched the two, not really interested in talking to the new girl who recently made an appearance. She then looked down at Sayuri and spoke "Hm? What was I saying?" she said, laughing softly and walking with her around once more "I dont even remember cause I was so into what you guys were talking about. I'm a horrible person arent I?" she looked at Sayuri and laughed "We were talking about studying, right?" Katsumi was pretty sure that she was.

"Yes, I-I'm pretty sure you offered but it's okay....you don't have t-to help. I'm sure you're very busy anyways." Sayuri nodded and looked down at the ground, tightening her grip on Katsumi harmlessly as they walked. Her mother had been complaining lately they she didn't meet her friends often enough and yet she still made sure Sayuri was at home on time as often as possible. She had even been grounded for coming home a half hour late because she had been studying at the library. She barely had any freedom. Now was her chance to gain more of it and considering Sayuri's father was almost never home once her mother was out of the picture she could do what she liked, when she liked and he'd never know.

Getting rid of the problem would open up so many new opportunities, she could relax when she was home as well instead of constantly maintaining her meek mannered facade. Her mind turned back to Akemi and how strange the girl seemed, she was pretty much perfect, the only strange things about her really was that perfection and her odd colored hair which she seemed especially proud of. Either way Sayuri mightn't see her again, she probably had nothing to worry about there.

Kenchi slouched out his house in his uniform. He didn't really feel like going to school today or even walking, but he understood the need for employment and the education it required. Luckily, the highschool he went to was close by so he didn't have to wait long before he could sleep during his first class. Kenchi enjoyed the the warmth on the walk, it making him even more unwilling to waste energy. As he arrived he saw people standing outside, waiting for the school to open. He chose a warm spot on the steps and plopped down, watching the clouds fly over his head. They were so peaceful....

Arisa, confused and uncertain as she was, stuffed the Death Note in her bag along with her other notebooks and such, getting in her school uniform and making her way out the door. "Today's the day of the test..." She mumbled to herself, worried about how well she'll be able to focus on the test while she knew of the existence of a book that may or may not have just killed two people with no more than their names and small details to their deaths written down. Se made it to the school just as the doors were opened and the bell that let everybody know school would be starting soon rang. Arisa made her way to her classroom, it silent because of all the tension the test they were to take today.

Arisa was definitely going to aim to get in the top ten of the school; no, top ten out of all of Japan. That would be a huge achievement, and would definitely help with her goal of a really good college. She even secured her future plans in the medical world, in terms of what she'll be working on. The Death Note was scary, but it was useful. She figured out on her own that actions might be controllable, so she decided to take every criminal from the news, and try to get them to do something for the world of science and medication before they die. If the Death Note was real, they would die. If actions could be controlled, the medical world would benefit greatly.

News Channel"According to police, the victim was Professor Drake Carmel. The doctor was suspected of malpractice which caused the loss of fifteen or so lives in the hospital, though we may never find out what really happened. According to witnesses, he'd locked himself up in a room for hours before the incident, only leaving once to drop off some new discoveries regarding the effects of poisons on the body. No further details about this discovery have been released yet, but the police, as well as several laboratories are testing Carmel's discoveries as we speak."

The news channel switches to another person, one who is at a different hospital than the one the man at the news station was talking about. The hospital had a plane crashed into it that had clearly been there a few days, but not very long.

"In other news, police are still investigating the cause of the plane crash that killed six hundred and thirty-two people. Further details on the plane crash that occurred two days ago have been released, and it seems that there was in fact one person who made it out alive. The police have refused to give the identity of who it was who escaped the fatal plane crash, but we do know the survivor was a young girl of the age sixteen. The police have said that the survivor will be open for interview later tonight though."

The news continued on about regular things, such as the weather, the rising and lowering of various prices, the best places to go out to eat or shop, and various other things that would just be regular information on the news.

Sayuri watched as a few teachers began to arrive, opening the doors and letting the flood of students inside the hallways. Most were muttering nervously about the test today, some had abandoned all thought of studying whilst others were all but pacing as they reviewed their knowledge. Sayuri took the opportunity to look up at Katsumi, her dark eyes wide and mouth hanging open. "Th-There was a test today!?" She blinked slowly several times, muttering softly under her breath and shaking her head. "I'm doomed..." Of course she wasn't really, if she wanted to she could easily be within the top 20 or so but to maintain her innocent facade she always made sure to make her grades slip up on occasion.

Katsumi walked into the school and changed her shoes and putting on her school ones. Apparently there was a test, and it was a big one. Looking down at Sayuri she shrugged "This is the first im hearing it too. We can pass it." she said "I bet you its easy." she stated before waiting for Sayuri to finish and she walked with her to their class. Katsumi held her bag over her shoulder, her face remaining normal. Something is up if theres a random test today..Unless I wasnt paying attention to the announcements. Whatever it was, she put her guard up for it "Sayuri, if I leave during class today, dont worry about me." she smiled softly and pulled out her phone, putting it on vibrate before putting it away again. Her face going serious again. The reason why she told Sayuri was because sometimes she did leave in the middle of class because of her cases.

Saruwatari sighs as he rests his feet on on his table sagging into the his leather couch a joint in his mouth. But the second he sits down someone knocks on his door and he moans not wanting to get up. "Who is it?!" He yells from his couch. A horse voice response, "The one paying you." He sighs and stands up walking over to the door and opening it to a mid 30 year old man with a scar down his right eye. Saruwatari looked him up and down and leans against his door frame puffing out a blow of smoke. "So where is the cash?" He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a wad of cash and sets it in Saruwatari's extended hand. They both nod at each other before the scared one turns and leaves. Saruwatari closes his door and walks inside not sure of what else to do he goes back to resting on the couch grabbing another joint on the way replacing it with his empty one.

Katsumi had skipped classes more than once and Sayuri thought nothing of her comment, she simply nodded meekly in response as she changed her shoes. "W-Where to now?" She asked softly, sticking close to Katsumi and clinging to her arm, avoiding the people around them. She even flinched every now and then whenever someone got too close and gripped Katsumi tighter. The act was so perfect that anyone would believe it, especially the taller girl.

Katsumi led her to their classroom "We get to our classroom and we ace that test." she said, smiling softly as she walked down the hall "Trust me, you'll do fine." she looked down at her as they walked into their classroom and to their desks "Just believe in yourself and you'll pass with a high grade." Katsumi hated to take tests she already took but it was needed to stay in school and be undercover in case things happen, She would be a witness.

Sitting in a desk quite close to Katsumi and Sayuri was Akemi, with the "lucky" girl Arisa off in a seat by the windows. The teacher came in and started passing out the test papers, and definitely a big test indeed. It would take most everybody until at least lunch time just to complete it, and then the word was that there was another test later in the day. That one was just a rumor among the students though, them assuming there's going to be a surprise test for them all to take just to fill in the last half of the day which seems to be empty.

Time Skip (Noon/End of Test)

"Alright, pencils down!" All the teachers said. The entire school had finished the huge test relatively late in the school day. It was already 12:30, just proving how big of a test it was. The teachers all informed the students to grab their lunch and eat it in the classrooms, as there will be a special happening on the news that pertained to the school greatly. Most students either went to the cafeteria and quickly grabbed some lunch, or took out their homemade lunch where they sat.

The teachers all pulled out the televisions and set them up on the news channel. They kept it muted since it wasn't on the part the school was interested in yet. Akemi, who had been in the classroom with Katsumi and Sayuri, had left the classroom about an hour before anybody else had finished the test, and still hadn't returned. She did hand her test in on the way out though. Just about everybody knew of her in some way or another, though not a single one of them knew anything about her past her really good grades, as well as the fact she's really athletic.

News Channel

"It's that time everybody's been waiting for. In just a few minutes, we'll be interviewing the survivor of the great plane crash that happened just a few days ago. Don't change the channel, because after the break, we'll be interviewing her live!" The news lady said, it switching to commercials. The news lady had been standing in front of the same hospital as earlier, the plane yet to have been touched. It was really hard to see, but there was one of Akemi's twintails inside the camera's view back off a ways and by the building rubble. She was talking with some police officers that would be there to keep watch on things, the officers trying to help Akemi stay calm for when the interview starts.

Sayuri had taken ages to finish the test. It wasn't because it was particularly hard or anything but she was always required to blend in, even if that meant purposely getting lower scores or 'rushing' to get her last answer in. She didn't think much of when Akemi had left, she was known for her grades and whatnot and it didn't concern Sayuri at all. Sayuri watched the news with a concerned expression. A plane crash. Whoever had survived was probably the luckiest person in the world right now, or not depending one one's point of view. "Th-That's horrible." She whispered to Katsumi, pointing at the screen. She studied it closely, hoping to catch a glimpse of the poor soul. Sayuri rasied a brow and frowned. Her facade slipped for just a moment. It couldn't be. But that colour was so unique. What were the chances? Quickly she regained her composure, her innocent mask slipping back on within mere seconds. Idiot what if Katsumi noticed? She scolded herself silently, she couldn't afford to do that again. Ever.

Katsumi looked at the TV and listened to the broadcast. She heard about this plane crashing and somehow one person lived. It shocked her sometimes but then sometimes she didn't. Turning to look back at Sayuri, she caught her face for just a second. It raised some mental eyebrows for Katsumi but she pretended she didn't see it "It's surprising how people can live though things like that. It's traumatizing." she stated and leaned back in her chair "Well, I hope she'll be okay." now that she had caught Sayuri's face, it made her wonder why she had that expression on her face. Made her think that she was acting suspecious

All the students who would be in the classrooms were now sitting at their desks, lunch with them from either home or the cafeteria sitting in front of them. Some were already eating, but a small handful of others were too interested in the plane crash from two days before to start eating quite yet. The news came back on after the commercials, and Akemi's hair was no longer in the camera's view. I wonder why they're having us watch the news...? Arisa wondered, though she didn't bther asking the teachers. Clearly, if something was on the news for them to see, they would see it. She watched the screen carefully, not even touching her homemade lunch yet.

"Here she is, everybody. The survivor of the plane crash that took six hundred and thirty-two lives, Akemi Kanzaki." The news lady said, the camera zooming out just enough to fit both Akemi and the news lady in the camera's view. "So before anybody else, is there anything you would like to say to the people watching?" The lady asked Akemi. "W-well.." Akemi said nervously, rubbing her finger lightly up and down on her cheek, the hand staying mostly still. "I-I'd probably have to tell them... not to let anything get in the way of you education...?" She said, the last few words sounding more like she was nervously asking a question.

Most of the students were utterly surprised. None of them expected it to be Akemi that survived the plane crash. Then again, Akemi clearly wasn't even injured. For the fact of her being uninjured, the police had to research to see whether or not Akemi was really even on the plane or in the hospital, and they found out she was in fact on the plane during the whole incident. Everybody out of the police and news crew was in utter confusion and amazement at how she managed to survive that plane crash as it was, but even more so by her being uninjured. "Now then, I know it'll probably be hard to go through, but we're going to be asking you a few questions about what happened. Would you be alright with answering some of them?" The lady asked, Akemi giving a nod and a partially nervous answer. "Y-yes... I'll answer as many as I can..."

This time Sayuri's shocked expression was real. She looked at Katsumi with wide eyes and pointed at the TV. "W-Wasn't she here before? We s-spoke to her...." Sayuri's mind was churning. She was running through every logical scenario possible but she came up with just a few that she remained skeptical about. The most likely was that the crash had happened days earlier, so Akemi might have only come to school for the test, but she didn't seem injured or traumatized. What person in their right mind goes to school after an event like that? On the outside Sayuri seemed surprised and concerned but on the inside she had immediately become suspicious of Akemi. Surviving a plane crash without a scratch and then turning to school? "I'm getting to the bottom of this." she mumbled so quietly that nobody would hear. Her hand strayed to the syringe, still in her pocket, and she breathed slowly. She had other things to focus on first.

Sayuri was right about that. Katsumi managed to get a shocked expression out of her. Too easy. "We did speak to her." she stated, "But I wonder what made her come to school." slowly, she narrowed her eyes and then sighed "That makes me wonder many things actually." she stated before she heard Sayuri mumble something. Now Sayuri was definately acting funny. But once again, Katsumi didnt say anything. Looking at the Tv, she watched it "I guess she didnt want to miss more school or something. Thats my only guess."

"Let's start off with something simple. How's everything going for you after that plane crash?" The news lady asked Akemi. "Pretty bad for me, though... There are a good few things that help take my mind off of the happenings." Akemi said, clearly still nervous by how she was talking. "My best friend for instance, managed to keep my mind off of it for the most of yesterday, though how she did it is a mystery to me..." Akemi continued, letting a few nervous tendencies show lightly to make her seem quite nervous about it.

"So what about today? How well has it been?" They asked her, her laughing quietly, heavy amounts of nervousness in it. "Well... Truthfully, things weren't going all too well in my mind up until I almost... Well, almost hit somebody in the head with a ball... Happened because I became lost in thought about the plane... They were nice though... Took my mind off of things, and well... They're probably the only reason I even managed to get myself to come out here instead of running away from the interview I myself planned..."

"Well, I'm sure that they're watching, and praying for you to make it through this as we speak." The lady said, trying to make Akemi feel a little better. Akemi didn't seem to respond to it much, except with a well-placed smile, and with how tiny it was, it was pretty effective in the act of nervous, but trying to keep together. "I hope they are..." Akemi said, shortly after the lady beginning to ask her some miscellaneous questions about her normal life to take her mind off of the plane for a while. Akemi would give the natural responses, expressions, etc. as they went on, nothing all too important at the time.

(In other words, a little time for back and forth conversing. Maybe pull Arisa into the conversation or something, though how to put her in is something I don't really know.)
