D6 Star Wars Private Game

As you sift through the various messages they all seem to check out. A correspondence with Agents Of Dyas stands out, as do messages with a higher up at SIS HQ.

Giz has been given full authority to make calls in the field and just to give regular updates and reports. Any operations engaged in will be given full disclosure and you will be able to liase with those heading up the military operations.

Agents of Dyas have sent several encrypted files of possible locations to investigate. You'll have to ask Giz about the specific details.

As you stare into the cascade of hyperspace your mind drifts back to the dreams you had but are interrupted by Giz giving a slight cough. "Everything to your satisfaction?"

"Lets just say that someone taught me not to trust anyone, and it was a lesson hard learnt."

"but in answer to the question. yes everything seems satisfactory. What is in the encrypted files?"

"Well we should do something about that, we can undermine his operations, collate evidence and confront him then take him into custody." Giz gestures before folding his arms again and leaning against the doorway again.

Upon speaking again, Giz walks over and sits in the copilot chair. "The encrypted files are possible leads we can follow. If your father is as heavily involved in the war as we think, he will protect his interests. The war won't come to his doorstep which will play into our favour. If we get too caught up in the war, we'll find it difficult to gather the data we need. But the war can act as a distraction so we can target these locations that should be left alone with light defences. Some of these leads we shouldn't go after straight away as they'll draw too much attention, such as your father's accounts with the Banking Clan. I don't have a lot of data on it but their headquarters are on the planet Scipio. If we go for that, we'd get a lot of notice fast. I'd say we'd make that our last port of call before going straight for your father."

"We need to start small, get more information and evidence of his double dealing. He can be put away for treason and war crimes at the least if we get enough evidence. One of his droid attaché G3-M4 who conducts meetings for him, is currently on Coruscant. This droid typically deals with Republic delegates buy we believe has a counterpart who handles Separatist dealings. If we can uncover that information that would be a bonus. We can do some recon first but we would need to figure out it's itinerary, then I'd say we disable and capture the droid, download it's data and see what else it leads us to."

"We can go about this in several ways, if we want to go unnoticed this would be harder as we would have to carry this out in such a way that the droid unit wouldn't find anything out of the ordinary, or we just take what we need and risk suspicion and possible heat."

"Another option is intercepting shipments bound for both Separatist and Republic world's. We'd need proof of supply of arms to both sides of the war. I'm not sure the droids would have information on this such as routes etc. Our best bet would be slipping into a waystation on a major trade route, these are currently blockaded by Separatist forces, so in effect they are controlling what gets through. Quite suspicious right? So supporting our suspicions. A station at Corellia would intersect several major routes running throughout the galaxy and would be so busy we may go unnoticed, there we can get more data on possible ships. Then we can figure out how and when to intercept their shipments."

"Another smaller objective, which would strengthen our position, would be to disrupt relay stations belonging to your father's business. It would slow down response to any actions we take as well as disrupt his business dealings as transmitting data would take a lot longer. We could use the opportunity to listen in, plant bugs and leave them operating, which might be more beneficial at a location we're not carrying out any other actions."

"Swoop racing will actually be a good cover for all of these objectives as it gives us mobility in primarily built up areas and won't draw suspicion either. We should go through all of this with Zal and J once he's healed. What are your thoughts?"

Giz relaxes and focuses on you now, where previously his eyes appeared distant, formulating his multiple plans and variants. He sits forward eager to hear which you'll go for.

"We need that Droid or at the very least the data that it is carrying, couldn't we simply switch it out with our own, that way we could program it to continue 'normal functioning' with a back up of all the data that we get from his droid. If we strike the relay first we could set up a hidden network allowing messages to be passed between this droid and us, we could be getting messages and be in place before they even knew their deal was done."

"Intercepting shipments is the hard part once we do it, He will know, but with a bit of luck we might be able to complete the other objectives without suspicion. I think we need the relay first so we could program the droid to use the correct channels, the less contact any one has with it the better. what do you think?"

"As for those two, we tell them nothing until they make a choice, We give them a chance to leave this behind because were going in deep by the sounds of it, And we already owe them more than we can pay back, deal?"

"That could work. We'd either need to highjack a relay or set-up our own for that. Highjacking would mean compromising the benefits we would get from taking out the relays and their response time would be faster."

Giz looks back to the doorway before continuing. "I agree keeping the other two out of this might be beneficial, plausible deniability can work to our benefit. Particularly where Zal is concerned. Jowpirr may catch on to it, but he'll understand why we've kept him out of the loop. He is my partner after all, but his lifedebt to Zal may compromise him again, so if things don't go to plan we can cut them loose and they won't give anything away."

Giz ponders again, coming back to his initial thoughts. "If we're going after the droid, we could piggy back the space relay orbiting Coruscant, the busy traffic would help us in conducting this espionage mission. But then we destroy a more remote relay between Coruscant and the nearest Separatist system or your Father's business operations. Whichever is closer, we can work that out later. This way we can achieve the best of both objectives. We can plan this out further on the medical frigate while we wait for J to heal up. I'll call in some favours as well."

Giz stands up, and motions you to follow him. "We'll be arriving within the hour, also you lost your blaster didn't you? I have a small cache if you want one of mine, but we should get you outfitted with some gear. We'll need a new ship too as this one will be easily identifiable now. We'll need one off the books, pay in cash, buy on an outer rim world. If we put money together we earned with Zal and J we could do it. What do you think?"

"Sounds like a plan, and yeah lets get J back to full strength. But if they choose to follow us, we give them full disclosure, we can't let ignorance ruin this, too much is at stake"

Gumbrai rises up and follows Giz. "A new blaster wouldn't go amiss. Oh and get your contact to find us a team, if J stays on we will only need 3 more mechanics; and maybe a guard. I want career soldiers, the incorruptible sort, were fight money with justice and the less surprises the better."

"I spend my life trying to help the republic fight its wars on the front lines, now look at me, spies and Jedi control my life, I might as well have gone into politics.Ha!" Gumbrai shakes his head as he follows Giz.

"That's fair enough, we can deal with that when the time comes. I'll look into a swoop team for us to get set up." Giz opens his storage compartment and reveals several varieties of blasters. "There's a KYD-21 blaster pistol, silenced. BlasTech DH-17 with scope to assist targeting and has a longer range. A SoroSuub Kylan-3 Heavy Pistol, packs quite a punch. And finally, a SoroSuub Bi-polar BMC-150 carbine which can fire in two modes, very powerful weapon." Giz grins. "Any take your fancy?"

Gumbrai lifts the carbine and aims down it, looking the gun over he sighs and puts it down.

"Its a nice weapon but no manager for a respectable team would be found carrying that. Now the KYD I think would be the most useful, we dont want to draw attention, now do we."

Gumbrai lifts the KYD out of the locker and puts it into his blaster holster, adjusting the straps to make it fit.

"Thanks Giz." A thought strikes gumbrai as he looks at Giz. "I just had a thought, Is Giz even your real name? Don't worry i'm not looking for a fight, it just struck me as funny that even though I know you are a spy I never questioned your identity."

Giz is caught slightly off guard but collects his thoughts after the momentary lapse of silence. "Well my last name Mombasa is a cover yes, and my actual full first name is Guzzregiz. The latter part being my go to alias. I don't particularly want to divulge my family name, but Giz is generally one of the names I go by. Guzz, Regi..."

He looks you up and down with the new blaster at your side. "A silenced blaster, starting to fit the spy personal already. We'll just have to sort you out with some appropriate attire and gear." He looks back to the cockpit as the panel signals that you're nearing the Nav buoy to come out of hyperspace.

"You go check on Zal and Jowpirr, I'll bring us out of hyperspace and signal the medical frigate." Giz slaps you on the shoulder as he walks away past you.

Gumbrai sighs. "I suppose we may never really know the real truth about each other" Gumbrai lets his voice drift off as he mutters to himself.

He Quickly readjusts his holster to get the pistol just right before heading to the med bay.

"Hi Zal, How's J getting on? and yourself, how are you doing?" Gumbrai finds a seat and sits down, studying J and Zal in turn.

Giz sits down in the pilot chair and checks the instruments and displays over to make the final checks before bringing the ship out of hyperspace.

Zal is watching J who is resting and heavily bandaged on the bed in the small med bay.

As you sit with Zal by J's bedside he looks up at you both briefly and solemnly before looking back to the wounded Wookie. "J has been resting for hours, not stirred since passing out from the pain during the battle. I probably would've died from that alone myself."

Zal looks down not wanting to look at you or J as he speaks now. "He jumped in the way and took those shots and attacked the droids. What did I do? I flew off and hid in the ship and got us into more trouble. J was honouring his stupid life debt and I just abandoned him. What kind of friend does that make me? You all deserve better!"

Zal is now crying, you're not sure if he was saying all this to you specifically, to Jowpirr or just to himself and wanting to let it out.

You feel the ship drop out of hyperspace and the sublight drives kick in. The sound of the wings opening out and then locking into position punctuate Zal's sentence.

"Zal, I..." Gumbrai starts before drifting off. "Zal listen you don't have anything to be ashamed of out of all of us, I suspect you're the only who hasn't been a solider in their life. You didn't make J take the shot, he took it for you and hes going to be fine. We must be near the rendezvous." Gumbrai notes at the sound of the wings unfolding.

"I know this has been hard for you, and I'm afraid its not over yet, in the next few hours and days your going to be asked to make a lot of tough decisions, choose what's right for you, because I assure you that whatever comes if we aren't ready the next time, someone will die."

"Anyway" Gumbrai stands up and stretches his arms and legs "I'll teach you how to hold a blaster and shoot regardless of your decision, the galaxy isn't as safe as it once was and I don't have enough friends that I can afford to lose them."

"You're a good kid Gum, I just wish things were simpler. I'm no soldier, I just want peace and my tools and something to fix."

Zal looks around and begins to collect himself, packing things for Jowpirr as well ready to disembark.

"Can you promise me, that once this is all over we can get away from it all and just have a quiet life? Just a nice out of the way workshop."

Zal looks up to you now. "I appreciate you looking out for me Gum, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to learn how to look out for myself." his gaze drifts back to J. "Yeah, better that I can defend myself in future."

"Come on, let's go see what kind of ship we'll be staying on, want to make sure accommodation will be up to J's standards. He's fussy about his beds." Zal pats J on the head as he leaves through the doorway to the cockpit.

"A workshop... That sounds nice, I'll take you up on that offer!" Gumbrai winces slightly at his words, he knew that the galaxy would be far from restful over the next few years.

"If this ship is as big as I think it is, hes not going to like his bed. Its vertical and full of Bacta." Hoisting some of the bags into his arms and shoulders Gum heads toward the hangar bay.

"you know Zal, we've only been travelling a short time, but it feels like I've known you for a lot longer than that. I'm glad I met you."

"Me too Gum, me too" Zal looks over at J again. "I don't think J's in any fit state to complain really." Zal pats you on the shoulder, picks up his tool belt and flies through to the cockpit to check how Giz is doing.

Screen swipes away to stars.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

A starfield pans up to a red planet, a small transport vessel enters screen left and opens its s-foils.

As the G9 Rigger approaches Ryloth, a red and white vessel in orbit comes into view. It is a Republic Pelta Class Medical Frigate used for transporting troops to medical facilities, obviously the Republic has become desperate with routes being blockaded by the Separatists.

Giz has already communicated with them and has been given clearance to dock, you half expected that to take a bit longer as they would usually prioritise military personnel.

The Rigger comes in to dock as the Medical Frigate opens up it's midsection to accept your ship. Once safely in a docking bay, a couple of troopers come forward with a medical droid to greet you as your ramp lowers. Giz sets it down and the troopers push a grav lift up your ramp with the medical droid in tow.

Gum steps out of the way to allow the soldiers and droid pass.

Giz must have had some might fine strings to get this good a response. Gumbrai knelt by his bags for his republic uniform before donning them. This may be the last time he ever gets to wear his corporal stripes he acknowledges begrudgingly.

Gumbrai disembarks the ship to wait/join the others, waiting for giz to take the lead.

Zal accompanies Jowpirr as he is taken away by the droid and troopers on the grav bed towards the med bay. He nods to you as he departs. Giz waits with you as a helmetless trooper approaches.

"Welcome aboard Commodore Mombasa, Corporal Oral." He salutes to you both. "I'm Captain Keeli, currently in charge here. Jedi General Ima-Gun Di is currently planetside negotiating with the local Twi'lek populace."

Giz salutes back. "At ease Captain, thank you for your quick response." Keeli nods and relaxes. He then looks over to Jowpirr and Zal then continues. "We'll take good care of your Wookie friend. We're stretched pretty thin at the moment with Separatist blockades cutting off resources and reinforcements. We're also getting a lot of refugees coming through here seeking aid. Now, Commodore, you mentioned something about commissioning some of our forces?"

"Yes, we need a small team for special operations that I cannot disclose the details of. I'll need files on all of then men on this ship given to the Corporal here to assess and draft from."

Captain Keeli salutes again. "Yes sir, I'll get straight on it."

Gumbrai salutes the captain as he approaches

"My thanks, Captain"

"Have you any news about the Separtists that were engaged by General Windu?"

"Why is the general negotiating with the Twi'lek's?"

Gumbrai stares impassively whilst waiting for any information, trying to not give away his concern for his friends or the jedi that was with them.

Keeli looks to Gum as Giz salutes and breaks away to discuss arrangements for refitting the Rigger with the dock master.

"I'm afraid no Chi made it off the planet, a Republic Cruiser stayed behind to assess the system and attempt any recovery efforts. General Windu and the rest of the fleet have been stretched thin trying to track down Grievous. The Separatists scattered and some are running interference to put more distance between Grievous and our forces. Things aren't looking good as main trade and supply routes have been cut off. There is currently a major operation underway on Christophsis also. So at the moment we're out here alone. Only Admiral Dao has any ships in this sector now."

Keeli motions for you to walk with him. "I'm afraid I can't stand and chat all day as I have a lot of duties to see to. I came down here personally because of your friend's status. Now, as for the Twi'leks. General Di is trying to negotiate with Cham Syndula of the Twi'leks to set up a garrison for the Republic as this is quite a strategic location and staging area. There are vast caverns that already house starports that could be utilised as well as other opportunities for bases. I only hope we get an answer soon and reinforcements before the Separatists catch on."

Keeli stops by a doorway and calls for a turbolift. "Your friend, the Wookie, will be in the Battalion tank for a while. I'll get those files to you shortly. In the mean time, make yourself at home. I'm afraid there aren't any quarters spare for you so your ship will have to suffice. Enjoy your stay Corporal."

"Thank you for the update captain" Gum salutes the captain as he gets the lift.

Gum looks around trying to think of what he needs to do. With no pressing matters evident to him he starts his swoop bike and rides it out of the ship before checking if everything is OK. Now might be a good time to replace a few parts. The 207ZY capacitor he remembers was always a little temperamental.

Over the next week, you get the swoop in good working order. Zal found some spare parts laying around that can be swapped in to give the swoop some better performance if you can wire them in right. (Make a mechanics check.)

Zal spends a lot of time checking in on Jowpirr who isn't very conversational in the Bacta tank. Giz spends a few nights going over the files on the different troopers in recovery on the ship. Giz handles most of the evaluations but wants your opinions on who to sign on as your crew.

Giz wants you to round it down to 4 troopers:

Sev is an Engineer class commando with standard blaster rifle, he is truthful and merciless. He brought down a bridge section using demolition charges while he was still below the bridge and broke his leg while trapped under the rubble but saving his unit's flank and taking out a unit of Droideka that were using the bridge to outmanuever Republic forces.

Lackluster is a basic Commando trooper, usually on the frontline in firefights, out to prove himself to his peers. Usually ends up getting injured as he gets into a lot of scrapes with Separatist forces. He's lucky he's not already dead, which all of his scars can attest to.

Commander Smithers is a devout leader of the Republic and even obsessive in keeping order. Carries a holopad around with him, good at keeping everyone organised but can often follow orders too close to the letter where initiative could've saved lives. Smithers was shell shocked in an explosion in the bunker he was operating out of. A skilled tactician that has scored higher than most other commander's in simulation.

Commander Funn is a medic who is fascinated by xenobiology having only trained on other clones initially. He is wisecracking and puts others at ease while seeing to their needs. A good trooper to have around and affectionately named Funn by his squad. He ended up needing medical attention himself when he ran into a crossfire to rescue members of his squad that had been pinned down and injured. All survived but needed evac for Bacta treatment.

Sergeant 'Smelly' is a Commando with a penchant for science and chemical warfare. Coming up with different devices for infiltration. Smoke screens of varying density, gases that can knock out particular races, even grenades that dispense ionised clouds an interesting variation on the ion grenade for taking out droid adversaries that proved effective when used with air delivery systems to spread the clouds and knocking out whole floors of droid forces at a time. Smelly may sometimes get distracted however and wander off looking for more discoveries and experiences. Often new fumes to synthesise.

Captain Bly is a Technician that specialises in hacking and splicing. He prefers to be left alone these days after rising quickly through the ranks and even being put forward to become a Commando. But under pressure to show leadership potential made a call while retrieving valuable Intel and deciding to do it himself, he got his unit killed and has taken the loss hard. He got himself out but took several hits and was rescued by General Kenobi.

Aess is a pilot for the Republic forces with experience in drop ships troop transports and ARC Fighters. He is adaptable and a fearless thrillseeker. He is in recovery for a crash he only just survived after being gunned down by droid fighters when vastly outnumbered alongside Kenobi and Skywalker.

Todd is a Commando Sniper, agile and lightfooted. Specialising in infiltration, espionage and Assassinations. Todd is instinctive and craven. Never really fighting enemies face to face and when under pressure flees to safety. His cowardly nature suits him being a sniper and gives him an air of caution during his ops but also makes him hesitate when he should strike. He was caught in an orbital bombardment when he gave his position away but was later recovered alive with a few broken bones and lacerations.

The ship becomes more alive with activity as more refugee ships have exited hyperspace and are approaching asking to land and receive aid.

Gumbrai looks through the list hmming and haaaing at a few of the choices some receive little more than a cursory glance and a tut before being pushed to the side.

After longer deliberation he brings the paper work to giz.

"I need sev, smithers and Aess. However I'm not sure about the last. Smelly is a loose cannon but provides options. Funn may be the perfect lynchpin for the squad disguise. And Todd. No scrap that we don't have the opportunity to take the risk."

"Give me Funn."

"I'll need to see Aess for at least 4 hours a day for the next week, if he's going to learn to ride this thing we need as much practice as we can get. Also see if you can find me an empty hangar and spare power

Iifter to build some courses.

Also I'll need Funn to come observe me and sev. Were going to strip and rebuild the bike and Funn needs to learn if he is going to pull off a medic/ part time engineer gig.

Can we also see about getting someone from ryloth to make uniforms for the team? I've got my old one in my bunk use it as a base but tell them to embellish it. We want to stand out. Use my name and whatever credits you can get hold of, use !u savings if you have to, if someone is going to look into us, let's see if we can get it all pointing back to me."

"Ha. I'm loving this. I feel young again. And I hate that. Do I sound like I'm waffling? Am I panicking? Is this a panic attack. Is it cold in here? Am I worrying too much Giz? What if we forget something?"

Gum rises. takes a pace and turns around. Oh! Can we customise the ship interiors? Nothing fancy, but let's at least look serious. Can we paint it?"

Gum hits himself in the face before looking at giz. "Sorry. I'm new to this." He offers as an apology, but his look lingers on giz hoping that he might still answer his questions.

Giz looks over your selection of troops and nods in agreement.

"Those look like a solid team. I'll have them reassigned to you and see what I can do about the other arrangements. If we can't test the swoop on ship, there's always the surface of Ryloth?"

During your time on ship, holovids come in with reports on the battle of Christopsis. News of victory raise the spirits of the crew and the help from the Hutts have helped Republic forces move more strategically. However many blockades still keep reinforcements limited and supplies running short.

Giz stands up and puts a hand on your shoulder. "You're doing well Gum. You've already been through a lot and have had to adapt. Just take it one step at a time and try not to get overwhelmed. It's all just detail, break it down and approach them one at a time. Yes we can try and do all of that but let's not overcomplicate things. Right now, let's see about testing your Swoop. You mentioned making some improvements? Want to show me what you can do with it?"

(Make your mechanics check)

Many refugee vessels have docked and the medical frigate is getting a lot busier. A lot of refugees keep to their quarters aboard their vessels, some go to the medical bay and others roam about the ship.
