D6 Star Wars Private Game

"My designation is M9R5 sir, I'm afraid blasting in a hive network would jeopardise the structural integrity of the tunnel network. My masters have high hopes of your machine meaning they can spread the work load more as they cover more of the planet."

As the lift stops at the bottom, Zal spots a tunnel that has barely been started. "I'm guessing this is where we start?"

"Indeed sir." M9R5 responds.

"Well, let's get to work and show em how it's done." Zal takes flight excitedly.

"Right no sense in waiting around, we got a new record to set! Let's just hope your digging skills are better than your Pazaak Zal. Righ J?

//Assuming that to use the Load Lifter I will be using my mechanical skill as that is what walker and swoop control is under, in which case its 3D+1 (8+1 = 9 (x2 for force point = 18))//

//1/2 force points remain//

You begin moving the load lifter with a determined look on your face. You make it look easy and are approaching the rock face of your tunnel.

"Nice Gum, can tell you're an experienced driver." Zal praises. "Let's get this tunnel going!"

//So you've used a force point you can earn back later. Wild die remember a 6 you can reroll and add on top of results. A 1 on wild die can create complications to results though.

Now, how do you want to go about digging. In stages roll per post or do a set of rolls for the period of work?//

"hmph." is the only response that gum gives as he concentrates on his work.

//Lets roll for the period of work/ until something of interest happens so that when work is resumed I need to reroll?//

//3D+1 = 14//

You get off to a good start, but you reckon you'll need to quicken the pace and get a smoother operation going if you are to set a good time. Giz, Zal and Jowpirr are working hard alongside and behind you to ensure rubble is moved aside. When not putting in supports and welding Jowpirr and Giz are cutting down rubble and then disintegrating it to clear the tunnel passageways as you press on.

"We need to push harder, we're just about matching Chi times but we can do better. Let's go Gum, give it all you got!" Zal shouts, rallying your team.

"Don't you worry, I'm just warming my drills up, I'll show you what this beauty can do"

//Three rolls are:

18

35

21

//

You press on with drilling, showing a lot of skill for the first few hours of work. The pace has picked up a bit but it's still not enough to break any records. "Keep going Gum, you can do it!" Zal cheers the team on.

As you settle into a flow you become more focused and relaxed, a calm comes over you and everything becomes simple and easier. The next couple of hours you drill like none have drilled before, your team are finding themselves quickly falling behind you and can't believe their eyes as you put in an extraordinary effort, M9R5 begins transmitting data and over time Chi have emerged in the tunnel to watch your progress. For the last part of the work you level out but maintain a top class professional standard above and beyond the capability of the Chi. Your crew eventually catch up with you but are worn out. "Where...did you learn...to drive...a load lifter like that?" inquires Zal, barely keeping his breath and no longer able to stay aflight.

"I'd guess you've done more than enough, let's stop and look at the data."

The Chi and M9R5 approach your team.

"I didn't even realise how fast I was going, I just focus on digging and nothing else, but based on the looks on your faces, that was a pace your not used to maintaining? But I'll be honest, this is probably some of the best digging I have ever done."

Gumbrai gets out of the load lifter to stretch his arms, wrinkling his face at all the dust in the tunnel

"Heads up Zal, We got company"

M9R5 addresses you. "Your performance has impressed my masters sufficiently, we ask that you show the Chi how this machine is operated and then we will discuss designs and a deal with the company producing the load lifters. But you need not continue putting more energy into digging as you have shown that the capabilities are far in excess of what we expected. The Chi ask that they take over this work now and get used to using this new equipment. Are we in agreement. You will also now be taken to see the Queen. This is a supreme honour."

Chi click in recognition of your work.

"Wow, I still don't know how you did it, but this is the fastest I've seen a job progress in my whole career." Zal proclaims.

Giz then whispers to you. "For the Chi to stop their work digging and come out to see us means they have taken great recognition of our work."

Jowpirr finishes up his welding of putting in the final supports and a Chi aproaches the load lifter, clicking.

M9R5 translates.

"The Chi ask that you show them the controls before you leave to see the Queen."

"Of course" Gumbrai will proceed to teach the chi worker how to operate the load lifter.

"The chi might be slower in these machines to begin with, just as all species are when given a new tool. And could you have measurements for a standard chi worker sent to the ship so I can begin work on a more appropriate design?"

Gumbrai whispers back to Giz "Lets just hope that they don't think poorly when they cant match these speeds, we have an exceptional team, Im surprised that we could maintain that speed for as long as we did; although it looks like we only just did"

"Can't say I've ever met any royalty before, how about you guys?"

The Chi follow your instructions and try their best to operate the load lifter, already you can see adjustments that will need to be made before they can begin to use it to optimum effect.

M9R5 responds to your requests.

"Chi parameters will of course be sent to your ship, the Queen now awaits your presence and arrangements of payment will be made shortly. After the Queen has seen you, I believe leisure facilities have been set up by visiting ship crews in the star port hub if it is your custom to partake of such."

Zal perks up. "Well we'd better get going to see the Queen then hadn't we!"

Giz tugs on your sleeve.

"Royal honour this is, never met royalty, but make this more important it does. Gum, special you are. Never before have I seen such work, fantastic, fantastic, fantastic." Jowpirr comes up behind and gives you and Giz a big tired hug, picking Giz up.

Once he's put you down, Giz looks at you again.

"Don't worry Gum, if anyone can get the load lifters working for the Chi, you can!"

The Chi take over the digging as you leave with M9. They continue to press on with the load lifter, slowly growing accustomed to it's operation.

M9 leads you further through tunnel networks until you are at the heart of the hive itself. It opens up to a vast decadent throne room with the walls carved with elaborate depictions of what looks like the history of the Chi, their great wars, the fall of their race and homeplanet and the search for their new promised land following their saviour the holy Queen and the restoration of a dead world and the white star that cleansed all life. A near wall depicts Chi of old age casting themselves into the sun at the end of their service to the Queen.

A royal guard of warrior Chi fill out the throne room looking very impressive, much bigger than the workers you've seen. And the Queen herself sits on a raised dais even larger and impressive again than the other Chi. Her abdomen swollen with eggs it would seem ready to populate the planet further. You are unsure of how often she can reproduce and what numbers but to have a sole population of 200,000 it must be impressive.

Warrior Chi in formation clear a path directly to the Queen. She addresses you as you approach.

A translator unit is a permanent fixture is apparent to you.

"Greetings to you, far have you come and done so much for us in so little time. The light of the White Star shows that your coming here has been blessed and will spur us on in the restoration of my people and our new home. You are to be compensated appropriately. 12,000 credits will be transferred as commission for your work here which has been of special note. I ask that you now rest and relax before seeing to final designs and we make deals with your executive director. Thank you once more for your efforts. You may go."

M9 ushers you out and guides you to a grav lift up to the surface star port.

"Well that was brief, not that I expected much, but I mean. That was brief. But did you guys see those walls? No one on Mon calamari could make anything like that, I dont think many republic races could. M9 what can you tell me of this planet before the Chi arrived? and what of the Chi have they always used a star as a harbringer of news; it seems awfully archaic?

M9R5 responds curtly.

"To have so many words spoken in your presence is a high honour considering you are outsiders. In answer to your query, this planet was burnt when the local star expanded to a red giant many thousands of years ago, long before the Republic or Chi were in existence and so it is written that the time would come where a white star would burn and a cleansed world would be restored by the holy Queen of the last hive at the end of the endless hive wars, also known as the Chitaka."

Zal ponders all of this perplexed but also thinking of how to spend these credits.

Meanwhile Giz takes great interest in all that has been said and adds his own thoughts.

"The Chi are a monarchical society yes? And come a long way very fast, advances made quicker in times of war but still digging in ancient ways where advances have been made out of necessity such as restoring a world but primarily waging war. Understand now yes?"

Once the grav lift reaches the starport you can see in an open space, traders from various ships have set up shops and ahead a makeshift Cantina. You think you recognise three Ithorians serving drinks.

"It all just seems very self fulfilling, I mean sure it takes a lot of work to revive a planet, but the whole last hive thing, sounds a bit like they planned to go extinct."

"Zal, I suppose we had better get ready for that Pazaak game, how about we warm up on a few of the patrons in the cantina over there? and you Giz and J and I wont take no for an answer, we did good today now lets celebrate"

"Sounds that way doesn't it, can't say I understand it myself." Zal remarks.

Giz ponders further, "Stuck in old ways and advanced too fast, brought about catastrophic event, yes?"

Jowpirr gives a whine.

"Yeah, I agree buddy, less of the philosophical debates and more celebration." Zal beckons you all on to the bar.

//Feel free to name the Ithorians, they are from your backstory after all.//

Gumbrai goes up to the bar and orders drinks for everyone, starting a tab for the evening.

Gumbrai sits down at a table with the others and starts shuffling his Pazaak deck, "who starts?"

//lets call them Haali, Wimmoz and Dobool//

After serving you, Haali chats to Dobool and Wimmoz trying to figure out how they remember you. Mon Calamari are all quite similar to them but their's something familiar about you, despite all the muck and grime of mining.

"Wookie goes first?" Zal looks up nervously. Jowpirr grunts in approval.

"So what are the wagers? Your earnings today to one of us if we win, against us helping you restart your swoop team was it? Best of three rounds?"

//Right, make a perception roll 3D opposed check. Then roll two D10. That'll be your starting hand. Need to build a side deck of 5 cards so let's say you've collected a good deck so the values will be both +or- so roll 5 D6 and those 5 values will be your side deck values.//

Everyone draws their hand, Jowpirr lays out his side deck with +/- 1,2,2,3,5

Giz lays out +/- 2,3,3,4,5

Zal lays out +/- 3,3,4,5,5

Everyone then draws their opening two cards.

Jowpirr a 9 and 6

Giz a 9 and 7

Zal a 7 and 4

Jowpirr plays his sidedeck card of +5 bringing him to 20, he puts his long arms behind his head and grunts in a stifled chuckle very pleased with himself.

Next up is Giz playing his +4 early as well to secure going on to a second round.

Zal draws a new card this turn, it's a 5, taking him up to 16.

Jowpirr and Giz are openly pleased with their opening play but Zal is not giving anything away.

The others look to you to see what you do.

Gumbrai reachs over and draws an 8, bringing his total up to 12, before drawing another 8. taking his total to 20, in 2 cards.

"show us what you got Zal"

Zal seeing it's going to a second round with no winner regardless spares using his side deck. He reaches for a card and draws a 1 taking him to 17. Zal ponders, he doesn't want to be shown up by not getting a 20 as well, or give you an advantage by having more cards in your side deck to use than him. He thinks how he can turn things around and put the pressure on.

"How about we make this more interesting? Anyone object to the knockout rule? Anyone not making 20 on a tie-breaker is out of the game!"

//It's still Zal's turn to draw and finish this round//

"hmm we could, but its high stakes I seem to have a lot riding on this game; what happens if noone reaches 20?"
