There is something about this boys story you dont quite trust. Where are his parents and why has it taken him so long to find help? You also feel a deeper arcane disturbence. Something beyond the stone you were brought here to fix. It feels like a low vibration coming off of all things in the city.

Thanks for the investigation check! I was going to ask for one. I used this check for the door. If you go inside I will just use the same check there.

If you go down the stairs I will also need a d20+dex followed by a d20+con.

There isn't much more to see on them. The corpses are so old and damaged that you cannot pull any more information from what you see. You may bee able to steal some rusty knives off them, but they will fall apart when used. The armor they wear is mildy and falling apart like their bodys. Its impossible to tell cause of death or identify them beyond what you already know.

You mentioned that the stones name is Winters Grasp is that something I can use for a check? Perhaps a history check or something of the sort?

You can use a history check. You can also use and arcana check. Then if you go into that room you can look through the books and study for information (investigation check)

These are all intellegence checks so you may be proficient in them. If you are proficient in any of them roll twice for the check and take the highest result.

Did you roll with proficiency on both? Looking at your character sheet you selected history and arcana as proficient skills.

With these checks here is what you know,

You cannot recall the item by name, it is too common and generic. But you know the boy translated it from dwavish and you recall reading about items like this at length. The item given in your text books as an example was Burning Sun. Speak its name and its power will release. Speak its opposite and the power will retreat. Cooling Moon. These stones were commonly forged into the weapons of dwarf eldrich knights to embue every attack with the power of a spell.

You believe that finding the opposite of Winter's Grasp in dwarven will turn this stone off.

@GoonSquadI is this enough information for you to move forward. Is there anything else you would like to make a check for? Will you be entering the room with the Winter's Grasp stone?
