Futuristic Cypress Collegium

Alexandria Hippolyta

"What?! Orientation's in 10 minutes?!"

In what could only be described as a flurry of movement, Alexandria began to storm through the halls at top speed - She breezed through registration, as she had done it three times before - Just add another number or two here, carry the one there, and she was done. Then she ran off, with a piece of paper that had her room number and name written on it, to drop off her things. And while it wasn't much, she had to put down her stuff somewhere.

She slipped through the door to her room and looked around - The room was incredible, as the others had been during the years before. Alex couldn't help but crack a happy smile as she ran for her bed almost immediately. She stuffed her suitcase and bags into the blankets of the bed, leaving only what she would need for the coming day in her pockets. "Now we're back on schedule," Alex thought aloud, a hint of triumph in her voice. "...Wait, but where's Orientation?"

Illya smiled at the man's offer of help, she hadn't been expecting the first person she met here to be so nice, it was certainly a nice change from all the jerks on the last planet she'd been on. "Um yeah, thanks for the offer, I'll keep it in mind" She replied a little awkwardly, being a tad nervous speaking to someone who was clearly multiple years older than her. Her eyebrows shot up as he complemented her name, most people tended to think it was overcomplicated and pretentious, though she stayed silent, listening to introduce himself. She was about to reply when the elevator slowed to a halt, the ping of the door opening cutting off her train of thought, and before she could speak Aiden was already out the door.

Following him out Illya's tail shot up as she heard the announcement. Fatal!? What did they mean by fatal! Were they planning to go out and attack any students that didn't make it to the orientation on time or something? No, no, they were probably just messing with them, yeah, that's what it was, they were just trying to give the first years a good scare or something.

She nodded to Aiden as told her to come along, and started heading towards the orientation before realizing she didn't actually know where it was being held. "Uh, Lead the way" She said, in a half joking voice to hide her embarrassment over her poor navigational skills.

Dylan watched as the alien glared at him and walked by. He’d seen stares like that, unfortunately it was all too familiar. It was the same stare the bandits gave when they were examining you, looking for weakness, looking for a mark, looking to make you dead. However in this case. Seemingly it was MORE piercing. It struck a nerve, and feeling went over him. was like a shank slid between his ribs, and stuck into in his gut. It didn’t help the fact the alien’s eye were a striking gold. That with the stare seemed to blaze with something, anger? Rage? Hatred? A combination of all three? Some feeling humans could not understand? No stop it. You’re doing what Jade does. Don’t over analyze it…though I didn’t get here by NOT being cautious…avoid him and there should be no problems.

He caught up to Jade in the hallway listening to her question about if he’d modified his armor any. “I’ve installed some Strength and speed enhancers, some micro thrusters for EVA and planetary maneuverability. I increased the armor with some nice scraps I found on Irquan. The proximity alarms have been tweaked enough to detect most motion. Also I shielded some of the more critical systems. It’d take a hell of an electrical discharge to knock the important ones out. Couple that with double redundancy in other critical systems, I think I might have created a more than half way decent survivalist exo-suit. Oh, I’ve gotten one or two tricks up the sleeves, I’ll save em’ for a special occasion.” He continued on with a bit of a grin, “It might not be as good as your Lightning…but I promise you. It’d give you more than a run for your money.”

He wasn’t sure how Jade would react to the last comment. Social issues no, technological issues yes, stuff she made, definitely would get her attention. Still He came to the promise of safety from potential tech-head banter when he came upon the orientation area. He stared at the New Hastati. He shook his head dreading what was going to happen, Not going to be long. About a third of them are going to be in coffins.

Jade quirked a brow slightly as Dylans response, more so because of the comment about Lightning that the advancements. Though to be fair the adjustments stated were all critical ones. Ones that should have been addressed sooner but better late than never. She thought back a moment remembering the other spec on his suit. Very stable and durable. Could take a beating very well though movement was clunky. Hopefully adjustments have fixed that. Several other issues or weaknesses came to mind but she stopped herself short of voicing them. Only in the labs she reminded herself having gotten into trouble for 'starting fights'. It was not her fault others had flaws in the design. Pointing them out was supposed to be a good thing wasn't? Even her own suit had its short comings but there were ways of overcoming them.

Instead she replied with a polite smile "Very interesting. I can't wait to see the modification made in person. I've made a few modification to Lightning as well most of which pertaining to weaponry and movement. Though I did have to reinforce core protection. However, alternate shielding methods are in progress." She nodded "Should make for an interesting year."

Amalia Calixis

Amongst the many the many bodies of staff members making sure that there were no students outside the main hall, was Amalia. There was about 2 minutes left, and the corridors were getting empty, which made spotting the lost students rather easy. Amalia sighed and leaned against a wall. That should be everyo- She thought, before noticing a white-haired confused looking girl. Her robe fluttered in the air as she hurried down the hallway towards the girl. "What are you still doing out here? You'll get crushed if you stay out here!"

She reached the girl and grabbed her arm. "No, this is no good. Hold your breath, this is going to sting." She stood in front of the girl, and suddenly two of the cybernetic hands on her back turned it's gripping part into a shining plate-like shape. She grabbed the girl, and the cybernetic arms got in between them, facing outwards. A force field grew from them, and after a moment they were surrounded by a bubble of blue pulsating energy.

Then, in the blink of an eye, they were in the main hall. Amalia stepped away from the girl and coughed. "Ouch, I hate having to go through the portus locks of this godamn satellite. At least they keep unauthorized people from teleporting." She looked at the stage that was put in the center of the room. Alaric stood up there, and it looked like they had made it there just in time. "Sorry for forcing you through that, but it's a lot less painful than getting mangled into a billion tiny pieces by moving pieces of super alloys." She straightened her robes, and continued "I'm sorry, I have to attend this now, I hope we can intro-" She stopped and looked at the student in disbelief.

"Alex! You know what happens out there! What the hell? Why didn't you come straight to the main hall?" Amalia seemed to be a little more upset now that she realized she KNEW who was about to get crushed. "God, girl. Do you realize how long it would take to put you back together, if you'd even survive it, geez, I ought to-" She stopped herself. "No, no. I really do have to attend this. I will speak to you later, Alex." And with that she walked up and stood behind the stage.

(GOING TO RISK BEING LATE FOR CLASS TO WRITE THIS SO SORRY IF IT'S TERRIBLE)

In what felt like a complete blur, Alex was teleported to the Main Hall. Yes, she knew what was going to be coming, but super-alloys? Psh! Those were for wimps. Amazonians don't screw around, and they can handle a few hundred tons of pressure turning them into mincemeat. Or, rather, minced-again mincemeat.

"Alex! You know what happens out there! What the hell? Why didn't you come straight to the main hall?" Alex laughed a little bit. "Of course I know what happens. I just got a little sidetracked," she joked. "I lost track of time, so I had to go drop off my stuff. I couldn't lug around my suitcase all day, could I?" She shrugged. "Well, what can you do. I owe you one, by the way - Lemme know if I can make you something or... Something."

"No, no. I really do have to attend this. I will speak to you later, Alex." Alex smiled. "Talk to you later!" She waved her off and looked around the Main Hall.

Silas leaned on one of the halls in the great hall, watching student enter the hall critically getting an idea of what he was dealing with. He sighed, each year there was more and more augmented individuals to the point he could barely see any unagmented people left. He found it disappointing seeing others that werent augmented in the past that have become over the course of their break. He figured it was because the wanted to keep in level with other in the academy and that some had disabilities to overcome but this it the wrong way, they should work hard and train to gain their strength the natural way.

He saw one of the instructors bring in one students into the hall through teleportation. Such abilities were unheard of in his world, yet here they seem to become more and more common with various supernatural abilities. It was like the old illustration he used to get back in his father's embassy in the human homeworld. This was troubling to see, showing how far behind his people were becoming making it harder to find away around there technological advantage. Maybe if his people were so technopho....He removed this heretical thought of his mind before he could finish it putting his hands together and began muttering a chant in his native tongue.

Nastya reached the main hall. It was abuzz with people, like everywhere was on the first day. She knew the number would decrease; mostly because of the deaths that occurred here. She cringed at the memory of her friends' deaths and squeezed her hands shut into fists at her sides. There were a few teachers she recognised, and a few students, but most of them were just blurred faces that she vaguely remembered. She took a step further into the hall and bang-Someone appeared directly in front of her. "Watch where you teleport!" She fell back, a little off balance. She regained her posture and dusted her shoulder off, staring at the back of the girl in front of her. She seemed to be ignoring her, facing the other way and talking. Nastya tapped her on the shoulder. "Excuse me," She moaned, "You near enough just knocked me off my feet!" She crossed her arms.

Kane had quickly arrived a minute before the announcement blared through the speakers. "Ah it seems it's starting soon." Kane quickly took notice as a portal opened and one of the teachers with a stu- That's Alex, one of the few others that also have engineering as class.. Now that I think about it, there is quite a lot with combat instead. Kane quickly moved towards Alex.. And another student, Kane searched through his mind. Nastya although she must've upgraded her tech a bit since last year.. Or maybe my illness is mind-affecting now? Kane didn't notice before it was too late that he bumped into somebody leaning on the walls, he hadn't even noticed that he was using the walls to steady himself either.

"Ashiel.. Sorry!" He said a bit startled before seeing who it was he nearly crashed into. Silas, still as tall as Banvas. "Silas, I'm sorry! It seems that I was on a mind trip and forgotton about were I was going." Kane regained his composure.

"It's been a long time, haven't it? How are you doing?"

Kane tried to sway the small accident away and start up small talk. There should still be a few minutes before the orientation starts.. Right?

@ThatGuyWithSouvlaki

Silas was to engrossed int his chanting to notice Kane running into him. Kane winded him slightly thought he recovered quickly enough to help Kane regained his composure. He looked at his roommate, one of the few only other not so human looking species in the academy which made him wonder if it was the reason why they were put together.

"Its fine, barely felt you and i should have seen you coming."He said with a slight smirk." Cant complain, got tired of the lack of danger in my life so i came back for another year. Yourself?"

ORIENTATION SPEECH

Alaric Edwards

COAKCollin.jpg

Alaric stood in the center of the main hall, atop a large stage. He looked at the students patiently as they all poured through the multiple entrances to the room. The room was enormous and square, with a large doorways leading into it. The room was the lowest tech place in the building, only having incredibly thick black adamantium walls and doorways, along with gravity manipulators carrying it. It was a space shuttle in it's own right, but you wouldn't be able to live in it for long, it having no heating and/or oxygen supply. However, it was the only place that didn't warp during the reconstruction phase of the satellite.

He opened his mouth, and the words rang out as if he was speaking into a microphone. "Welcome to Cypress!" He couldn't help but let a smile dance across his face. He was really excited about this. He always was. "My name is Alaric Edwards, I'm the founder and principal of the Collegium, and I also teach certain specialists at times. I hope you will... Well, maybe not enjoy your stay here, but at least feel like it was worth it. Besides, cool things happen around here occasionally." He paused for breath. "I see a lot of new faces here, but there's not a lack of old ones either. As you may know, this is the first year we have returning graduates at the school, which means that this is the first year we can participate in Grand Duels! We've already been challenged to one by our close neighbou-" He was cut of by a loud noise. It sound like the creaking of metal, and then the lights started flickering.

His smile grew wider, and he looked like he had a secret that you really wanted to know but he wouldn't share. "Give me a second." He raised his hands, and at the tip of each finger a blue light pulsated briefly, and the lights stabilized in luminosity again. He looked at the crowd with his excited grin, and continued "Well, you returning students know what happens now, but don't spoil the surprise. It's always coolest the first time around." The loud creaking continued for a while, and then stopped, only to be followed by sounds as if they were by an ocean. The walls started creaking, and then they stopped. A sound like winds could be heard, but otherwise everything was quiet.

Alaric's expression fell into a neutral one, but he still looked semi-diabolical and sneaky. "Let's take a look outside, shall we?" He shot out with his arms again, and all the doors to the enormous room opened at once. Outside, vortexes of colour, energy, and metal were everywhere. It was like looking at all the wonders of the universe at the same time, at an extreme speed. Behind it all, were the clouds and desolate wastes of pandora, with the twin-suns illuminating the entire scene. Alaric liked to think he knew how to set up a view.

They slowly descended towards the planet, until they finally stopped at an altitude a bit above cloud level. The swirling vortexes, explosions, and streams of energy and metal outside the hall started settling, creating beams, towers, halls, and rooms all around them. The whole process only took about 7 minutes, and then everything was quiet again, though it was quite obvious that the halls outside the room they were in was not the same as it was last time they were there. Instead of grey, thick walls, there were now white walls that seemed to shine on their own. Everything looked brighter and more advanced.

Alaric smiled again, and turned to the crowd. "Very well, that's that. You are now truly in Cypress Collegium. All the features you returning students might remember should now be available. Like the instant elevators, the rooms should be more spacious and your balcony's and pools should now be accessible, the gyms and the labs should be open. Our satellite is not quite as durable like this, but it's a lot less clunky. Not that I think any of us would be able to damage the building much anyway. Now, let's see the addition for this year.." An enormous swarm of fist sized drones poured in through the doors and flew around in the ceiling.

One of the robots descended, and hover just over Alaric's extended palm. "These little robots are here for your safety. They will react to violent acts, vandalism, and drawn weapons. They are here in case intruders or rogue technology threatens the safety. And don't try attacking them, you'll only get yourselves killed." He let the drone go, and the swarm of tiny murder-robots started spreading out and leaving the room, soon only leaving two or three drones patrolling the ceiling.

He looked after the drones with a dreamy stare for a moment, and then turned his attention back to the students. "Orientation truly is a misleading thing to call it, honestly. Either way, that's that. You're now dismissed. For the coming hour, all the teachers-" and he swept an arm towards the group of instructors standing by the stage. "- Will be available in their classrooms, if you're interested in introducing yourselves, or just popping in to say after a long break from the Collegium. Lunch will be served at 11am until 1pm, and then classes will start as normal by tomorrow."

He was about to walk off stage, but at the last moment he turned around and shouted "Don't forget to get your data-slates(basically smartphones filled with information like maps and schedules) from your dormatories!"

Lamya glances back over her shoulder as sudden movement catches her eye as well as speaking. She recognizes one as a professor, not one she had taken personally since she wasn't in the engineering department but knew her by name from herself being here several years. She always seemed like a kind a person from what she had seen anyways. She turns her attention to the other girl, recognizing her face but couldn't place a name. She had seen her around but as far as she could remember didn't have any classes with her but believed it was her fourth year here too. She looks over at Nastya with a small smirk at her no holding back temperament. She was quite familiar with her, having several classes with the girl and always admired her strong-willed nature. Her gaze briefly fell on the two non-human males, familiar with their faces as well both being here as long as she had. She still didn't know what to make of Silas, she shared several classes with him, catching on to the fact that he didn't seem to like cybernetics, and as for Kane she couldn't remember taking any classes with him but his face was one that was hard to forget.

Her train of thought about the people her around her were interrupted as she heard the orientation speech begin. She was fully listening but lets her gaze travel to some of the first years to evaluate their expression, she remembered the awe and slight fear she experienced the first time she witnessed the grandeur that was Alaric's way of introducing the collegium. She raises an eyebrow curiously when the topic of Grand Duels were brought up, that definitely sounded interesting. She looks up at seeing the drones pour in, giving a slight pout at hearing their purpose. Well that made getting away with things a lot more tricky.

Kane nodded "I'm good, I was lucky enough to go by. Traveling around, visiting some of the planets in the Empire's control. All things considering I couldn't really return since my.." Kane went silent for a moment before continuing. "Well, a giant spaceship so to speak." Kane was about ot continue when suddenly Alaric spoke up. Kane turned and listened to the Omnissiah or Headmaster. Many titles for his position. Still he is a great man. As Alaric finished his speech,

Kane turned back to face Silas. "He certainly know how to make a first impression. Still, I guess it's needed with the spider-bots." Kane shrugged. "Do you think we got anyone else to share room with? Oh and before I forget, what's your thoughts on these grand-duels? Can't say I'm sure about it.. I've never been one to truly go out and fight. I am more of a crafter than a fighter."

While true, but in the end one can't survive on staying on one side, one must balance between their strengths and weaknesses and be able to both think, create and be diplomatic while also able to fight, survive and.. Kill. As one of the humans bright minds once said, survival for the fittest. Not that far from how Cypress and Pandoria works. Atleast in my opinion. Everyone got a strategy to live.

Kane stepped out of his trail of thoughts and looked around for a short while before turning his attention back to Silas. "Still, seems this year is going to be highly eventful."

@ThatGuyWithSouvlaki

Nastya drew her eyes from the girl and stared at the centre of the stage. As he had been when she had first arrived here, he was standing, looking proud, speaking to the new students, mostly. She zoned out for most of the speech, having listened to it all before. She was mostly just staring at Alaric. Nastya had always admired him, for many things. She knew he founded the Collegium, at aged just 27 and had raced through the ranks at his previous academy. She hadn't spoken to him directly, and she doubted he even knew her name, but there was something strange that drew her to him, maybe it was his incredibly young face or his attitude to work, either way, she was determined to converse with him this year, although she had no idea about what yet.

Nastya shifted her eyes to the outside, watching the swirls of colour and awesome whirlpools that she associated with Pandora. It was a beautiful place, but like every beautiful thing she had ever known, it was full of horrible and dangerous things that should never be crossed. She was thankful for a soft landing, for the first time she had entered the planet, the whole room had shaken and had made her feel quite sickly.

She watched as a new set of drones entered the room and watched Alaric as he spoke of what the drones did. She knew they would be dangerous; everything here was, and she had no intention whatsoever of going near them. She sighed as Alaric dismissed everyone, and an uproar of chatting began. She looked at her hands. She knew exactly where she was going to go; to the Labs. She enjoyed it there, looking at the science behind the complicated cybernetics and powers some people held. She liked to study herself, too. How amazing her body, that it could co-exist with metal and not reject it, but continue to work with its help. Nastya frowned at the girl who had teleported in front of her. She hoped newbies weren't going to try and push her around.

She exited the hall before too many of the others had done, and followed the signs to the Labs, not quite confident in her memory of the way there.

She half jogged-half walked to the Labs, not wanting to be caught up in the hustle and bustle of the new kids wanting to introduce themselves to the teachers, wanting to suck up to them.

Feitro was the only teacher she had ever gotten along with. She thought perhaps this was because she understood her need to push away others, to simply be rude to everyone. Even him being rude to her didn't upset or bother her, she liked it; admired it. She knew that he kept it real and would never lie. Besides, he was a hell of a good teacher and the ways he taught stuck in her mind.

Nastya brought her wrist close to her mouth and whispered, "Dictatrix, charge." She had started charging the electricity in her arms and could feel the pink fluid running down the pipes in her arms. She closed her eyes, and relished the feeling, as if it was a sort of drug.

Nastya entered the Labs and smiled nonchalantly at her teacher. "Fei," She had always called him, and all of her other teachers for that matter, by their first name. "Your favourite student is back, and better than ever." She stretched out her arm and sort of introduced it as if it was a brand new piece of technology, and in a way it was, but no one here was a stranger to cybernetics.

@Prizzy Kriyze

"A tad bit to showy for my liking, leaves very little mystery for people to worry about. I am beginning to wonder if its for our sake or to stroke his ego."He said his expression and stoic calm not changing throught the mans speech, evidently unimpressed by the preceding."I didnt see anyone else assigned to our room and we would have noticed by now."Grand duels should be interesting, i guess. I always liked meeting new people and then having to pummel them to a pulp though i guess i will be left back as medical support this time." He chuckling even he finding the humor in man his size being a medical expert rather than walking talk warrior or something." I dont think you should worry: "a strong and creative mind is just as important as strength in body or more so if used right" 2nd Great Truth of Throari religion." He turned to face Kane to reply at the eventful comment."I am sure your right....What is next? I forgot my data device thing in our room."

"From memory, we're dismissed. So we can unpack what we got with us and get the data-slates in our dorms, or possibly go and meet- remeet the teachers." Kane paced a bit around, not one for standing still without anything to do with his hands for too long. "And at 11 AM lunch will be served. So in the end, it's pretty much like the last years, just meet and greet, maybe we'll bump into some of the others? Survivors tend to stick together."

Kane looked around and quickly noticed how many of the new years already were walking towards their specific locations. "Personally I don't have need of the data-slate as for now, unless that is Alaric had Cypress Collegium completetly renovated... Which I highly doubt, but there is always the possibilities." Kane smiled and looked around. "Perhaps we should wait and see if there is anybody else that is staying behind, old friends to greet or a new student to help." Or both, I'm sure some of the other "seniors" already made friends with some grani'sulins, either for friendship or the much darker path of having them as meatshields.

Kane had already gotten lost in thoughts again.

"We should try and make sure the statistics are lower this year."

He suddenly said in a monotone voice.

@ThatGuyWithSouvlaki

Lamya watches as everyone started off in the respective directions and turns her attention back to Kane and Silas. There were a lot less people that came back, for various reasons, either because their studies were finished in their opinion or they didn't survive it to continue a fourth year. She figured if there was going to be Grand Duels this year she should get to know her possible allies or opponents, whichever way it would work out since she didn't quite know the exact details of what the Grand Duel would entail. "I see you two survived another year" She says with a joking tone even though it was full of truth and was a bit of a bittersweet statement. "I'm Lamya if you didn't already know" She gives a friendly smile before continuing on. "So what do you think of the Grand Duels? Sounds like it could be fun though I know I have some particular areas I want to work on before I get too carried away with deciding to enter"

Oh god, oh god, oh god, I'm so late! Her feet slammed down onto the floor rapidly as her breath came in sharp puffs, face becoming flushed as she panicked. She'd taken extra long in Registration, making bullshit conversation with the people at the desks. It really freaked her out that any sort of consequence that was coming would be lethal and it caused her brain to become scattered. Where was she going? Did she have time? How the hell would she know where the Orientation was being held. The bouncing she made while running caused her snake to curl slightly tighter around her neck, attempting to prevent itself from falling down. She thought it would be nice if it new the directions around this place, definitely nice. Then her life wouldn't be threatened trying to find this damn meeting. Looping a finger under the snakes jaw, she made sure it was tracking her progress as her desperate attempts were seemingly futile. While she wasn't looking, she brutally collided with door... Or maybe a wall? "Is that... God damn it!" she snarled, jabbing the button several times over before it opened itself to reveal an elevator console. Her feet stepped unsteadily into the compartment and she headed up to her floor and sprinted to her room. It appeared that everybody else had already been here, from the things lay on the other beds, and she simply tossed her items inside before slamming the door once again, heading back to the elevators. Inside her head, thoughts buzzed around. What kind of school uses lethal force on late students? She questioned herself, leaping out of the elevator and using her best intuition to rush herself to the center of the satellite. She heard a loud voice sound in the room and caught the most of it as she tripped in, one hand braced on her knee as she puffed and the other combing though, attempting to catch her breath. So focused on doing so, she was, and the pounding of her heart resonating through her skull, that she completely missed all of the noise and such around her and when she looked up, she was completely caught off guard. "What the hell?!" she gasped, looking around for anybody that might be able to give her an explanation as to what just happened.

"Looks like we got nothing better to do then meet and greet, so sure why not."He said looking around for a good candidate to meet thought it seemed to find him in form Lamya. He remembered but just barely as the shared a few classes but havent really talked much beyond some small talk and friendly trash talk in sparring between them." Silas Khan for your reminder as well, though i never forget you tripping me with your psynics. No surprises you made it through, though sad other didnt" He said giving the moment of silent such line required." I am sure there will be time to train for them thought there is no news on what exactly they will entail."

Feitro Absolanz

Feitro was sitting and experimenting on a broken off piece of a full ArchTech splinter knife. It had very interesting properties, besides spewing out splinters of meta particles on whatever it stabbed, it also seemed completely impervious to meta-field dampeners, very interesting... He was surprised when someone spoke to him. First of all, no returning students would ever approach him. Second of all, no new students ever came around, they always had to explore the satellite, unless they were ambitious, and then they were adviced to stay away from Fei by other ambitious students anyway. Who the hell..?

He sent a glance over his shoulder and noticed the cyborg. He only rested his eyes on her for a moment, before kicking off from the floor and sliding over to another table with his chair. "Prof. Absolanz, and this you know. Claiming to be my personal favourite student for the irrational reason of trying to impress me with a gutsy attitude is a ridiculous idea which in itself deserves a failing grade." He paused in his work for a moment, and seemed to contemplate something.

Cryx was there too, sliding through the shadows, constantly at the corner of your field of view. Lots of students regarded him as 'creepy', which they were right to do. Cryx was definitely in the top 5 of the most likely things to kill you on board the ship. He hadn't actually killed anyone yet, but calculating how likely it'd be... Well, the kids are just lucky they don't try to touch him.

Fei finally turned around in his chair and grabbed the augmented human's hand. "I suppose you deserve something for taking the chance though, Nastya." He did remember the girl as one of the very few who actually seemed to like him, despite his blunt and cruel demeanour. "Nice hand."

@SpectroVector

Ikreth had been in orientation for the third year now, listening to a speech similar to the first two times. He fidgeted in his chair a bit hating the room they were in, he never liked it and it seemed suspiciously void of anything besides chairs, doors and the stage in the center of the room. When the loud metal noise went off and the fantastic show of clouds it was indeed 'cool' as it was described but it didn't really phase Ikreth as much as it did the first time. When he first entered the Cypress it was as if he jumped years into the future from his home planet. Ikreth's home planet was void of any 'unnecessary' technology, the only techonology they had was located in the space stations or hospitals. Their planet even had those who claimed to use 'magic' to create 'spells' and 'potions' to 'cure' diseases, which most humans apparently called witch doctors. All of this meant that Ikreth's first appearance at Cypress had been shocking to say the least. Not to mention how rare it was for his species to leave their home planet to begin with.

He continued to listen Headmaster Edwards drone on about the killer drones. The first time Ikreth had heard of them he hid from them in sheer terror throughout his entire first year, the second year they bothered him but not as much as the first year, now all they did was creep him out. He still didn't like these 'killer drones' but Ikreth understood why t hey needed to be there, it was impossible to monitor every student so the floating drones seemed to be the next best thing. After seeing some pet drone, thing Ikreth's mind had wandered off not listening to the last of the speech. There was something Ikreth wish he had taken after all, a small little animal that most Vakzi had as a pet, a Chit'tha, they were small kind little creatures that were next to impossible to kill. They had no bones and they could regenerate all their organs as long as 8% was left. Standing at a whopping .3 meters tall they were usually kept as pets, not only for how nice they were to have around but because you could drain them of their blood repeatedly as long as you did not leave them completely dry. Ikreth had one back home and he might have been able to take it for obvious reasons but it was too late now, something to put on his mental checklist for next year, assuming it was fine to bring live pets.

As they were dismissed Ikreth let everyone else get up first, last thing he needed was to bump into someone and have his glove cut someone, that was never a good thing. The glove itself was covered in black was a tube going down each finger finally leading into one and right into his wrist. Sometimes people couldn't help but stare at the glove and Ikreth understood why, it was a tad disturbing, not to mention how awkward it was too sleep with it on given that it was deadly sharp and impossible to remove without careful and intensive surgery. As he had enough room he pulled out the data-slate he was given so he could locate his room and get things settled. There were many things that he did miss with the school living accomodations, most of which were entertainment related such as a thing called 'Holovision'. 'Holovision' was considered unnecessary luxury technology that the Vakzi did not have back home. Ikreth then began walking off in the direction of his living quaters looking forward to watching some of the 'living books' that they were called back home.

Jade focused her attention center stage as Edwards started orientation. It was the same thing every year not a whole lot changing from year to year. The reveal after ship reconstruction was always a grand sight though. One of the few non mechanical things she did appreciate. Her interest peeked at the mention of a grand duel, something that would no doubt be brought up several times over the next few days. She often wondered if the only reason orientation was really held was to make sure everyone was in one area for the reconstruction. Smart since die on the first day was always a shame.

With the speech over and everyone dismissed Jade turned to follow the crowd out into the more familiar halls of the academy. Any conversation she might have been holding was forgotten when the option of returning to familiar ground was given. She made her way through the memorized hall weaving through the crowds of students lumping up in the halls once more. Her smile grew as she crossed into the labs, her true home to say the least.

A few other students lingering around getting to know the equipment and surroundings. She hummed softly passing the freshly cleaned and repaired work stations. The ever present professor was at his post as usual. Brilliant man, one of the few who didn't much mind her mannerisms. "Hello Professor Absolanz." She greeted in a cheery tone happy to be back in the labs. She didn't stop to chat though. Tomorrow there would be enough of that she rather take advantage of the time and set up for the year to come. Jade made her way to a workstation in a corner, tucked way so rarely anyone passed by her, great lighting and away from any pesy drafts. She ran her finders along the smooth work table and grinned. "Good to be home." She sighed

"At least someone recognises me." She dropped her hand. "And I do not have a gutsy attitude." She leaned back on the wall, looking over his shoulder. He was inspecting some sort of weapon, she thought. "What's this?" She thought about touching the object, but she knew for sure he would not appreciate her prying. Besides, it seemed dangerous.

She looked around the familiar classroom; it was all chrome and metal with glass containers filled with chemicals and such sitting on the shelves. It was a fairly big room, and she felt comfortable in it, although she knew that touching anything in there could possibly mean life or death. She knew that anything in the whole Collegium was dangerous; she had to know that, for what had happened last year, she could never forget it. She knew that every moment of everyday she spent there, she would be concious of her surroundings.

Kane turned around and a small smile appeared. "Lamya, good to see you're alive and well too. Where's Maurice? You usually don't go far without him don't you?" Kane shook his head and walked over to shake Lamya's hand. "I don't know what to think about them, it's the first time I've heard about these Grand duels. But as Alaric said, it seems to be college versus college. So I guess it's going to be the best in different catagories?" Kane pondered the thought for a bit. "But I do believe it will be quite interesting. Only question remaining is whether it's to the death or just a friendly match, but 'grand duel' doesn't sound like we're doing training matches."

Kane shook his head. "
Still, grand duels are probably not going to happen tomorrow or any other day soon, a lot of new students have to go through the trials." Wonder if Alaric have that changed since us old students are here now. "Anyway, Lamya, do you know who you're going to share room with? Anyone we know or is it totally new ground? Me and Silas are going to share, so atleast there is going to be less awkward questioning about what kind of alien we are. Most new students, especially the humans are quite curious about anything and anyone." Kane shrugged. Everyone's curious about something.

Kane looked to the side. One girl, from guesswork that he didn't know her she is a first year student. "Huh, nearly late, luckily she made it.. Wouldn't have been good for anyone to know that a student had already died by missing the orientation." Kane walked over and stretched a hand to help the girl up. "Hello Miss, I am Kane. You seem to be new around here, do you need help with anything? A tour maybe?" Kane said in a light and friendly tone.

Lamya chuckles a little at Silas' comment and nods. "Well I'm glad you haven't taken our spars personally. And no doubt, I'm sure there's going to need to be a lot more explanation on the matter" She turns to Kane as he mentions Maurice."Orientation is always a bit too crowded for me to feel comfortable having Maurice around, too many crushing things and loud noises. Though there's not much that phases him you can never be too sure" She states with a small smile at Maurice being remembered as well, though it wasn't like he was some rainbow bird or anything. She nods in agreement to his comments about the duals, definitely curious about the exacts of them. "I'm not sure who I'm sharing a room with, I just dropped my bags and Maurice off and came here. Though there was a girl napping, a newbie I believe, non-human from what I saw. I do hope she made it here, I feel a little bad I didn't wake her..." She glances around the crowd for a moment before spotting the girl who seemed to be in near panic-attack mode. Definitely a first year it seemed. "Very lucky she made it, there are plenty of ways to die here being crushed for missing orientation would seem a bit disappointing" She states not meaning it in a mean manner, just that if she was going to die she'd rather it be something more epic than being crushed. "And I'm Lamya" She states with a smile. "It's definitely a bit overwhelming your first year but don't worry you'll get the hang of things soon" She states after Kane's introduction.
