Fantasy Cursed Island

"Hey, it almost worked," Jerry shrugged, "If he wasn't so ham-fisted about it, he might have gotten me drunk enough to be willing to try anything." At the time Jerry wouldn't have been caught dead in bed with a man, but alcohol and continued effects of all her curses was changing the rules for Jerry.

"Oh, screw you!", Urodor barked.

"No, you missed your chance."

Corona chuckled. "Well, I understand the, uh....tension, I guess, between him and everyone else."

Niudisa spoke up. "Animosity is the word you're looking for."

Joanne nodded, "What continues to amaze me is that this golem refuses to learn from his mistakes. He is presented with an opportunity to contribute and remove much of that animosity or be Jerry's stabbing cushion, and he chooses stabbing cushion."

"Think he's a masochist?", Adran snickered.

Corona shrugged. "That's my bet so far."

Niudisa grinned. "I'm sure I could run some tests to figure that out for sure."

Jerry chuckled, putting the sheet back over the cage and hoisting it back to the cart. "As fun as that would be," she dropped the cage back into its space, "He'll be bitching for weeks about it."

"is everyone done eating?", Adran asked, looking around the table and seeing a lot of empty plates.

"Alrighty," Adran waved his hands and cleared the table. "I had a demon summoned that provided food, but he was from a dangerous circle." He got up and brushed himself off, "I gotta go find Beri, Shuffle scared him off."

"He doesn't like his fur being messed with, it's not your fault."

Nyah floated over, "Why don't you go see if you can find more shinies?"

Shuffle smiled. "Yeah! This is a great place for shinies." She eagerly turned away and ran off t find shinies, her tail bumping the table from her sudden turn, which in turn threw off Niudisa's balance and knocked her over.

Joanne extended her hand to catch Niudisa and put her back upright, going back to what she was doing before dinner.

"So," Jerry gave a clap, "Raine, get your knives."

Niudisa paused as Joanne put her back on her feet. She brushed off her dress before likewise heading back to her work.

Raine blinked. "Oh, uh, right." She hopped down her seat at the table and headed for the training area, looking for her knife along the way.

Jerry nodded and just popped out some of her own as she walked over to the training area. "Pick a tree, throw your knife at it."

Raine paused and looked around. Picking a tree that was a bit closer than the others, she took a moment before throwing her knife. It wasn't quite like her spear throw, mostly because she couldn't hold it the same.

"Close," Jerry nodded as the knife at least hit the target, but didn't stick. She flicked her own and watched it three thunk into the wood in a nearly vertical line. "When you have more knives than you can hold in each hand, the ability to quickly retrieve and throw some can be the difference between getting stabbed and doing the stabbing."

Raine looked at Jerry's knife, then Jerry, then the knife, then Jerry again. "I actually haven't taken inventory of what weapons I have."

"I did," Jerry nodded, "Excluding whatever you might have had on you when we found you, that quiver contains an unholy armory's worth of crossbow bolts, javelins, spears, and one really big sword. If you need more knives, I can teach you to make a master shiv."

"Right," Jerry handed Raine a dagger, "Now show me your throwing form."

Raine nodded and looked at the dagger. Her spear throwing had been going good, so she at least made an attempt to holding like that, taking a reverse grip before trying to spear-throw it.

"Nope," Jerry grabbed Raine's wrist to keep her from throwing the knife. "Hold it here, back straight, yep." She corrected the from and grip, "Now try."

Raine glanced over at Jerry as she was corrected. She nodded and looked at the tree before throwing.

This time the knife landed correctly. "Good," Jerry walked over and pulled all the knives out. "Keep going. Once you've got this part down, we'll move on."
