Fantasy Cursed Island

Jerry frowned, "No! I... I don't know how I feel." She looked down at the ground, "Asta, I spent a long time trying to lead you along so you wouldn't get angry, and you'd stay useful." She couldn't even make eye contact with Asta, "The longer it went on, we just..." She waved her hand. "Things got really complicated really quickly."

Asta nodded and closed his eyes, staying quite a little longer. “I know this is because of the potion...but even so, I still love you. I am hurt to learn this, but I know why you did it. You believed you had to, and you didn’t know how it would be in the end.” He sighed. “Whether you love me or not, I will stay by your side.”

Jerry sighed, "Asta, I've been trying to make you develop a personality outside of me because I don't want you to just love me." She shook her head, "I want you to be a person, and you are. You've become one for a while now. I don't like the idea of enslaving someone like that, I thought maybe if you could develop your own identity that you'd just become an ally." She looked up at Asta, "Things got complicated. I don't know what I feel when I'm with you, this is alien to me, I don't have a plan for this, and I don't think I can plan for it."

Asta gave a nod. “I think I understand. I can’t help how I feel about you, but I will make an effort to be more...just an ally, if you would prefer it.” He paused for a moment. “And perhaps this isn’t something one makes plans for.”

Jerry gave a sigh and a nod, looking down at the ground again. "That's fair." She looked over at where the dragon turtle egg was sitting, "Can we give it a shot, though? Please?"

Asta nodded again as he looked at her. “Of course. We won’t know for sure if we don’t try.” He followed her gaze to the egg.

"Thank you," Jerry smiled and wrapped her arms around Asta in a hug. The dragon turtle egg, almost imperceptibly, wobbled. It was definitely close to hatching.

"Hmm," Jerry sighed as she leaned into Asta. They separated briefly so Jerry could go make sure the tent flap was closed, she could have sworn she felt eyes on her.

"I swear, it feels like we're being watched," Jerry shook her head as she opened the door a crack to find half the party had been leaning in to spy, and fell in. "Really?"

Jerry blinked, then reached for her sword on the desk and turned the blade out. "Get out."

"Message received!", Adran had been on the bottom of the pile but somehow he'd gotten his way out from under there to get out of stabbing range.

"Eep!" Shuffle kicked it in reverse and scrambled back as well. She had a story to go watch anyway. Fia went after her so she wouldn't miss the beginning.

"The rest of you, two," Jerry applied foot and tail to move the rest of the party out of the doorway and bolt it shut. When she turned back to Asta, she was a bit flustered. "I don't think that's normal," she shook her head.

"Do you see why spying is bad?", Nyah asked the two little ones when they came to sit down in front of her. "Fia, fix your strap."

Asta tilted his head. "Are we really that interesting to them?"

Fia looked at her strap, trying for a moment to move it with her wing before finding she could grab and move it well enough with her mouth.

Shuffle nodded. "But we saw stuff. I didn't understand, but everyone seemed interested."

Jerry shrugged as she closed her sword and tossed it onto the desk. "I don't know, I've just been going to Erina and Veo for advice." She'd thought they'd agreed not to tell anyone, but apparently not. She'd deal with that in the morning.

"Yes, that is because most of this group is very nosy," Nyah nodded and started working an illusion to tell the story.

"I see. I think you've discouraged them from prying any further, at least."

Raine came over as the story was starting. She was rather bored, so she'd figure this was a good way to pass the time until time to sleep.

"That's good," Jerry nodded and sat back down next to Asta. "Do you have any ideas for how we can pass time?"

Nyah's story this go around was a part of a series Nyah had started, about a little girl that found a magical sword one day and went on adventures. Tonight's episode had the little girl fending off a demon bull that was terrorizing a village.

"Mm, not really. My go-to's for passing time are mainly hunting or napping."

Raine was surprised to find herself getting interested as the story went on, though she was a little bit lost. She'd have to ask Shuffle and Fia to fill her in later.

"Hmm," Jerry nodded and leaned into Asta's shoulder, puttin an arm around him. "Last night was pretty fun."

"Adran, how fares Veo?", Joanne asked once the clump untangled itself.

"Oh, she's pissed, but she's more worried about Emil than that she's tied up," Adran shook his head.

Asta nodded and glanced at her. "How much of it do you remember? Part of it are hazy for me, probably thanks to whatever Adran gave me to drink."

Erina glanced over at them. "I hope you didn't bind her too tightly. She does still need circulation."

"I don't know," Jerry shook her head, "I know you didn't seem to get tired at all, and I woke up kinda sore," she glanced around the room, "We broke the bed, and I woke up on the floor." The tent had been a mess when they woke up that morning.

"Of course not," Adran crossed his arms, "What kind of a jerk do you take me for? I used magic to restrain her, it'll only choke her out if that's what it takes to keep her from getting free."

Asta glanced away. "I'll admit to feeling a bit pent up before... I apologize for that."

Erina raised an eyebrow. "So, if she struggles too much, we're going to go in there and find her unconscious on the floor?"

"Hey," Jerry booped Asta's nose, "It's not your fault." She sat up straight and smiled, "But Adran did us both a favor."

"No," Adran shook his head, "If she starts getting free and breaking the cords, we'll find her unconscious on the floor. She's not that strong, so at best we'll just go in there and find her suspended upside down from the ceiling."
