Fantasy Cursed Island

Emil still lay in the bed beside Veo, right he'd lost consciousness rather early. He hadn't yet woken up.

Corona, upon waking waking up, quietly mumbled complaints to herself as she lay where she was.

Raine found herself laying on the puddle that was Poli, apparently having decided that was a good spot for it. Poli must not have been awake yet as they didn't respond.

Niudisa was staring at nothing, possibly willing herself to recover from the alcohol faster.

Shuffle stretched as she started waking as usual, but the sudden headache caught her off guard and she whined as she held her head.

Erina was still splayed gracelessly across the bed, sound asleep.

Fia had kept watch overnight and continued watching as people stirred.

Jerry and Asta were likewise still passed out from the night's activities.

Deciding she wanted to surprise Emil, even though her headache was astounding, Veo started picking fruit for the bat from her vines and left them on the end table for him, in turn getting dressed and leaving to go bathe and do some laundry. "Good morning," she smiled at those she found to be awake as she made her way to the pools.

Lyak was still passed out in Erina's tree, she had gone to sleep pretty late.

Adran when he woke up, to his credit was more than used to waking up with a hangover, but was still under Erina. Rather than wake her, he chose to lay still and enjoy the view.

Joanne offered no sympathy for the ones with hangovers. They'd done this to themselves as far as she was concerned. She'd warned against it, and now they had to clean this mess up. There were empty and broken bottles everywhere.

Shuffle managed to sit up and look around. She was very confused. She couldn't remember what had happened the night before, though she could've sworn it was fun. Whatever happened, her headache was killing her, so she started looking for the flask of healing water, whining all the way.

The flask was in Jerry's tent with the rest of the rogue's equipment. But no one conscious knew where the flask was. When Joanne figured out Shuffle wanted the magic water, she pointed Shuffle to the pool. "Is that not the same thing?"

Shuffle blinked. "Oh yeah." She headed over to the edge of the nearest pool and just flopped down with her head in the water.

Corona managed to get herself upright, without leaning on something, and started looking around. "So, did all that mess with the phoenix actually happen? Or did someone just start a fire?"

"It happened," Beri growled, "I do not like this." It felt like he'd lost five years. He'd been an old cat, sure, but in the rebirth and accelerated aging process he'd been brought into his prime again.

"You don't like it?", Emfa complained, "You appeared out of NOWHERE- Ow, my head..."

Corona raised an eyebrow at Beri. She'd been blinded near the end of the incident, so she'd missed that part of it. "Did you dye your fur?"

"If I had only dyed my coat this would not be so irritating," Beri shook his head, "Somehow I... stole the bird's ability. I do not know how far that goes."

"Mm. Guess you've got some experimenting to do."

Niudisa looked over at the mention of experimenting. She'd recovered by now, so she fluttered off from her table and headed over.

"I should not have to experiment," Beri growled, "I should not even be in this situation!" He shook himself, still somewhat hoping the black in his fur was just soot he could shake off.

Niudisa spoke up as she reached the group. "Oh, quit complaining. That's Jerry's job. Whatever the downsides, you should focus on how you can benefit from this."

"Do you see Jerry around?", Beri growled, "Look at me! My ivory coat is blackened!" As he started shouting, the orange marks in his fur started glowing, little gouts of fire shooting out. That confused him enough that he stopped shouting and looked back at himself in confusion.

Niudisa smiled. "Well, that's neat. Something tells me your temper is even more fiery now. If it's just your looks you're worried about, I'm sure you could actually dye your fur. But you certainly seem stronger."

Beri just grumbled incoherently about that.

"In either case," Joanne spoke up, "We do not know what will happen in the future, but I have been made a liar of, and I do not like that."

"I promised Fia that when we left this cavern, the phoenix would be freed unharmed. And here Beri has managed to properly kill it."

"Had I know I would absorb the damn bird I would not have been on top of it!", Beri snarled.

Fia shook her head and spoke up. "Thank you, Joanne, but it wasn't your fault that happened. And maybe I was just more sympathetic when I was small, but my sympathy for him faded when he tried to attack us again."

Niudisa shrugged. "I'm sure you'll get over it eventually. Maybe make another, easier promise."

"Save your jests, fairy," Joanne crossed her arms, "Broken oaths mean little to you, but to a paladin an oath is everything."

Joanne looked like she was about to drop a thunderbolt on Niudisa's head, but Emfa stepped in. "It is way to fuckin' early and I am way too hungover for you two to start fighting," Emfa growled, "You start fighting and I'll kill you both."

Niudisa waved them both off. "I'm just stating facts. I've no interest in starting a fight here." She turned and headed back to her workspace.

Joanne scowled but in turn went another direction. "Has anyone seen the elf?", Emfa muttered.

"He went to bed with Erina last night, I have not seen him since," Beri shook his head, "Nor Jerry or Asta." The leopard looked around and padded over to Fia, sitting on his haunches in front of her. "Teach me," he said to the phoenix.

Fia tilted her head before settling in front of Beri. "Teach you what? Fire power?"

There was a splash as Shuffle finally pulled her head up from the water. She stood up and shook her head before looking around. "...what happened?"

Emil stepped out of his tent about that time, eating the last of the fruit Veo had left for him.
