Fantasy Cursed Island

Talismans distributed, Jerry stood up and went back into her tent to grab Urodor's cage and unfold something from the deck, wrapping it up in something a little more suited to block sound, sticking it somewhere he couldn't bother anyone. "Don't let me forget he's there," she asked the others. "In the mean time, who wants to go make sure these things work?"

"Shuffle, good," Jerry nodded, "Anyone else."

"I'm up for stabbing things," Emfa shrugged.

"Reducing the feeders in the woods is always beneficial," Joanne agreed.

"There's three, go murder feeders," Jerry pointed to the door. "Have fun."

“Yeah!” Shuffle ran off to the door.

Niudisa crossed her arms as she watched her go. “...alright, I gotta admit. That’s probably the cutest killing machine I’ve ever seen.”

Jerry almost laughed as Emfa and Joanne went to join Shuffle in leaving. "Bring back some wood," Adran called. They'd need the wood to build the washing barrel.

"Now," Jerry sat up straight, "Show me what this barrel is supposed to do."

"Well, it's," Adran found the spell in his book and worked the image back, "You unfold the box, the barrel's inside, the sides of the box fold out into a shelf to catch the rejected items. There's a set of sliding legs so you can raise it off the ground for the collection box, the inside of the barrel is-"

"Never mind." Jerry turned to Erina, "Do you need any help with anything?"

Erina thought for a moment before shaking her head. “Mostly I just need to make my dyes and keep working on clothes. I’m also considering figuring out how to work leather. That could be useful.”

"Thoradin's been handling the leather," Jerry jerked her head towards the forge, "I've commissioned some stuff myself, you might be able to convince him to teach you."

“I’m not sure he would, myself. He’s up there working constantly, I don’t know if he’d be willing to stop to teach.”

"Well none of us know how," Jerry shrugged, "If nothing else just ask if you can sit and watch and ask questions."

“I suppose it’s worth trying, at least.” Erina looked towards the forge before walking over to it.

Jerry nodded, and turned back to the others, "Is there anything else anyone else needs?"

-------------------------------------
"What d'ya want?", Thoradin demanded at Erina entering his workspace.

-------------------------------------
Outside Thoradin's Forge, in the grove, those with the talismans were finding them to work very well. If they ran up to a feeder, it would stand and fight, but by and large they avoided the talismans. "It appears that Urodor has not lied," Joanne noted.

Raine spoke up. “Is there anything else you can teach me? Lockpicking is good and all, but I don’t know how much it’ll really help.”

—————

“I was hoping to learn how to work leather from you.” Erina glanced around at the forge as she spoke.

—————

Shuffle nodded. “Yeah! This means it safer out here, right?”

"Yeah, I can teach you stuff," Jerry nodded, "You got a weapon, or- I got a better idea." Jerry went back into her tent to get the bag and some of the stuff they'd taken from Urodor. "Our asshole in the cage was using these," she set Urodor's badge, crossbow, and magic quiver on the table. "Kobolds have dragon blood, so you should be able to use the badge."

-------------------------
"I have nae the patience to teach another me craft," Thoradin shook his head, "I've a construct to build and a cursed door to break down before I'm too old to pilot it."

-------------------------
"So long as you do not seek battle, I believe so," Joanne nodded.

"It probably just scares off the weaker ones," Emfa noted as she watched feeders give them a wide berth. "Urodor probably thought he could handle anything bigger that came through.

"He likely could."

Raine climbed up on a chair to take a look at the stuff on the table. “A badge?”

—————

Erina nodded. “I figured as much. Perhaps I can learn from just watching then?”

—————

“If he can fight it, I can fight it!” Shuffle seemed to be high spirits.

Jerry nodded, "Urodor used these things to just about kill everyone here. The badge does something with draconic blood, I know that much, I haven't tested it on myself yet, but for Urodor it took the human out of him for a while." Then she gestured to the crossbow, "And this is linked to it."

---------------
"Tanning leather is complicated, especially depending on its purpose," Thoradin shook his head, "Leather for armor goes through a diffferent process than leather for a bag."

---------------
Shuffle's enthusiasm was contagious, even Joanne was smiling for once. "We do seem to be growing in strength."

Raine reached over to pick up the badge. “Mm... I don’t have any human in me. I don’t think.”

—————

“Then I will attempt to learn both.” Erina settles down where she could see. “I am patient.”

—————

Shuffle looked over. “Adran said he needed wood, right?”

"If you did, we would be able to see it," Jerry agreed, "So I don't know what it's going to do to you."

--------------------
Thoradin rolled his eyes, getting back to work. "Whatever you want."

--------------------
"Indeed he did," Joanne nodded. Almost on cue, a tree fell.

"I love this axe!"

“That’s not comforting...” Raine looked the badge over, unsure if she wanted to try it. Or how, for that matter.

—————

Shuffle looked over at the fallen tree. “...can I bring down a tree?”

Jerry shrugged, "Pin it to your chest and palm it, and that's how Urodor turned it on, I think."

----------------------
Joanne gestured to the forest. "I have no qualms, if you can pull it with you to bring it back."

Raine hesitated further before trying to pin it to her chest wrap. Once she got it on, she put her hand over it as told.

—————

Shuffle smiled before running off a ways to blast the base of a tree with acid.

When Raine put her hand over the badge, it glowed, the dragon heads on the badge glowing in turn. She could feel something looking around inside her, until the badge settled on the red dragon head. It burned as it settled on that, and Raine began to grow taller, wider, and more muscular as the badge did its best to make her draconic ancestry come to the forefront. She failed to sprout wings, but her horns grew, her tail lengthened to match the proportions of Jerry's, with a line of barbed spines going down her back. Her chest-wrap and skirt wrap didn't make it, not having been enchanted for the purpose and not growing with her increasing dimensions.

Easily shooting up to match Veo in height, her horns now went up to compete with Joanne for the ability to walk through doors. Her body proportions had changed to match her new size, shoulders, hips, the length of her arms and legs, and the thickness of her torso grew along with her height.

"Huh, I didn't know drakes were like-" Veo and Jerry both punched Adran before he could finish that comment, one from below and the other from above, knocking him back into the side of the tent.

"What do you think?", Jerry asked.

-----------------------------
"Be careful," Joanne warned Shuffle. Dissolving the tree wasn't like chopping it down, they couldn't predict which way it would fall.

Raine seemed surprised, to say the least, looking herself over before looking at the others. “......is this what it feels like to be tall?”

—————

Once the base of the trunk was weak enough, Shuffle rammed it with her head before pushing it with her hands to try and make it fall where she wanted. It wasn’t completely effective, but she could at least avoid dropping a tree on herself.

"That's average, actually," Jerry nodded, "You're on the table, remember?" She picked up the crossbow, which was now glowing to match the owner of the badge, "Careful with the quiver, there's bolts, spears, javelins, and for some reason a massive sword," she warned, "I don't know which way they face inside the thing, either, but there's three compartments by size."

-----------------------
Joanne reached out to snatch Shuffle out of the way before she could crush herself trying to take out a tree like that, the trunk just barely missing Shuffle's nose as she was pulled out. "Hey, shortstack, it falls towards where you took it out!", Emfa called.

Raine looked at the weapons. “Uh... I don’t know how to use any of that...”

—————

Shuffle blinked and looked at them. “But I had it.”

"We'll teach you," Jerry promised, "Besides, primarily, you'll just need to learn the crossbow, but you're defnitely large enough to use a sword right now." She glanced around, "You might want to find something new to wear, though, that badge is hanging on by good luck at the moment."

----------------
"You took the tree down, yes," Joanne nodded, "But you created the weak point facing yourself when you severed it."
