Evan smiled at her as she thanked him. He turned around in his chair and replied to her goodbye "See ya!" He said. When she left he turned back to the table & sat there for a few minutes thinking to himself. Congratulating himself for shifting Skye's self-harm thought away. 'Ya did good today Evan... Ya did good.' He got up from his seat & pushed it in. He completed his compulsion of walking in & out the cafeteria. He walked down the hallway & back to his assigned room.

All of a sudden, it was as if Hazel had short-circuited and reset like a faulty computer. She stared at him in shock for a moment, and then asked "Who, who are you?" Her voice seemed to have shot up an octave, though that may have just been Ernst's anxiety-prone mind exaggerating things. This was strange, even to Ernst, who was quite used to being around other mental patients. He wasn't that used to talking to new people, however, which must have something to do with how awkward he felt, not knowing how to approach this situation.

Looking just as surprised as Hazel did, Ernst took a moment to collect his thoughts before deciding the best course of Acton would be to just start over. "...I'm Ernst, Hazel." He said in a strained sort of whisper. "We'd been talking a bit over breakfast. I've been here for a good five minutes, actually." He didn't really know what had happened to Hazel just yet. He was going off the assumption that she could have had a small seizure and just needed her memory jogged, or perhaps she had short term memory loss.

Kyle shrugged quizzically in response to Dan's question about his attire. "I dunno, really. I just begged my parents to bring me things from home." He gently reached up to tug at the collar of his button-down flannel pajama shirt, but his wrist just jerked away and smacked against the table again. It took him a a few seconds to stop long enough to continue. "...Sorry. Anyway, I'm sure if I could convince mine, then it shouldn't be too hard for-- goddamnit!" He hissed in a mix of pain and frustration as his wrist collided with the edge of the table again, interrupting his train of thought. He glanced back up at Dan, with an apologetic grin. " Anyway, how's your stay been so far? Have you met anyone else yet? There's a few you should probably stay away from, but most of them are staff...funny how most of them probably could've retired thirty years ago. But sometimes the old ones are the best, y'know? The young ones always try to act like they know better than us."

Skye wandered aimlessly for a long time, just taking in everything. The hallway was relatively quiet, so she was able to process everything in her own time without overstimulation. She almost wished she had social anxiety or honestly just a more specific kind. General anxiety wasn't fun. Hard as she tried to know her triggers, she might never know them all. But overstimulation was the biggest issue. If two people were talking to her at once, or she was trying to think in a busy room or somewhere such as a mall.... it was just too much.

Skye's attention was suddenly directed to an open door. She turned, looking into it, cautiously. No one was in there, at the moment. The door had a label on it: 'Art Room'. Skye smiled, and decided to look inside.
It was colourful. Lots of posters and signs, and a cupboard nearby with paper and pencils and paints.... Skye wasn't extremely skilled at any of those things, but she could draw a semi decent manga type cartoon character, and liked sketching.

She also noticed a piano at the end of the room, and immediately went there. She tried the notes. Some were a bit off key, but not so bad. Skye strained to remember what she knew on piano. Most of her piano knowledge was chords and memorized songs; she couldn't read music.
Skye furrowed her brow, trying to remember something. G chord..... B chord..... her eyes lit up. Truce. I remember Truce.

"Now... the night.... is coming to an end...." Her voice was quiet, and somewhat raspy right now. It would get better. She tried to sing a little louder.
"The sun... will rise... and we will try again..." Her voice was stronger when she sang lower, and it was an overall nice sound to listen to. She had sang first alto in hr choir some time ago.
"Stay alive... stay alive... for me.... you will die.... but now your life... is free... take pride in what is sure.... to... die..."

Skye smiled. That song always gave her a peace of sorts. She needed to learn more songs now. She had a purpose. She would learn all her favourite songs. Yeah. Her iPad was in her room, but she hadn't been on it at all since she came here. Ever since she had been here there and everywhere in foster care, her previous friends had all but forgotten about her. Skye tried not to be mad at them for leaving her all alone. They're busy people with real lives... Yeah. But they could at least text every few weeks, couldn't they? Skye was sure they didn't even know she was in a psych ward now.

She decided to play one more song before she left the art room. One of her own. One she had written to her best friend, unsure whether she should stay or go.
"I wrote a song for you my friend... it seems you're always on my mind... I know a selfless angel, and it's you.... You make me feel like I'll be fine...." Soon, she was at the chorus.
"I don't want to... let go of you... but would it be best if I laid silly dreams to rest... I'd crawl a thousand miles... to see your smile.... I don't know what I'm gonna do... I don't know what I'd do without you....."

Skye stopped playing. Her hands trembled. Without you. It's real now, isn't it. You said you'd stay in touch... never leave me... but you haven't texted me in weeks. The pre chorus to the next verse raged on.
"You promise that you'll call me when you find a quiet moment, but if I just disappeared than maybe you could finally hold it, you're the one thing holding me together, but I'm scared I'll make you crazy someday."

Skye couldn't continue. She switched songs. A Million Dreams.

"I close my eyes, and I can see, a world that's waiting up for me... that I call my own...."

Evan was taken out of his reading by the sound of music, It was so bizarre to him. He had never heard or seen a musical instrument in the ward before. He got up from his chair, grabbed his glasses & tracked down the source of the music. He stopped when he found that it was coming from the Art Room. The door was opened slightly. He pushed it open, slowly revealing the identity of the person that was playing that wonderful music. It was none other than Skye. He watched silently from the doorway as he mentally embraced the music she played. When she finished, He made his presence known by clapping in applause & praising her performance "Hey, That was amazing. Do you know any more songs?" He asked eagerly.

Skye whipped around, eyes wide. Then she blushed, smiling. "You scared me!" Then she responded to his question. "I know some stuff. Mostly Twenty One Pilots, but I'm finding myself to be more a fan of a song than a fan of a band. I've got all sorts of stuff in here, if I can remember it." She tapped her head, giving Evan a half smile. "I've written some stuff too. Not much, though."

"Sorry for scaring you." Evan quickly apologized. He scanned the room for a guitar, He found a Beginner Fender DG-8S acoustic guitar. He grabbed the guitar & pulled up a chair, And sat down & started to tune it. as he did that he asked Skye if she wanted to hear some songs "Wanna hear a few songs I wrote?"

Evan finished tuning the guitar. He strummed a few chords & began to play one of his songs. this one, He wrote after his girlfriend died. He started off in a low, soft tone 'In the face... of change, That's when she turned to me and said "I'm Not sure anymore." And there...Amidst the waves and the cloudless skies that blanket the year before, I watch my life wash ashore.' Evan starts striking the strings quietly and rapidly as he continues 'Have you ever been a part of something that you thought would never end...And then, of course, it did.' Evan's voice goes from soft to loud with a raspy tone'Have you ever felt the weight inside you, Pulling away inside your skin. Then something had to give...' Evan strums the guitar into a sort of upbeat rhythm, as he heads into the chorus 'And now the lines are drawn, Is this feeling gone? The best parts of this have come and gone. And now that is all this is. And with the reasons clear, We'll spend another year. Without Direction; Full of fear, But now things will be different.' Evan switches back to soft for the 2nd verse 'There's nothing simple when comes to You & I. Always something in this everchanging life, And there probably always will... Evan shifts back to loud 'Now the time is getting harder to come by, Same arguments are always on our minds. Killed this slowly fading light.' Evan strums the rapid upbeat rhythm again, indicating the chorus 'And now the lines are drawn, Is this feeling gone? The best parts of this have come and gone. And now that is all this is. And with the reasons clear, We'll spend another year. Without Direction; Full of fear, But now things will be different.' Evan softly strums the guitar as he creates a somber rhythm. He gets to the 3rd verse of the song. 'And now something...Has kept me here too long and you can't leave me If i'm already gone.' He begins to strike the guitar strings harder as he continues to repeat the 3rd verse loudly 'And now something...Has kept me here too long and you can't leave me If i'm already gone.' 'And now something...Has kept me here too long and you can't leave me If i'm already gone. He then trails off and adds some new things to the chorus We make the same mistakes, We're always hanging on. Break the promises we're always leaning on. All this time, Spent waking up. Now keep this line open to get this call from you, Speak the words that keep me coming back to you. And now this time, it's all different.' Evan ends the song by softly repeating and slightly revising the last part of the 3rd verse 'And now something...Has kept me here too long & now i'm gone.' He finishes the song with a final strum of the guitar.

The back of Skye's eyes stung as Evan finished his song... it was so beautiful... and she could relate... her best friend..... Skye turned back to the piano and began to play one of her own songs. The one she hadn't been able to play, earlier. (I wrote this actually, irl) She started softly. Kind of quiet, the piano was twinkly.

"I wrote a song for you my friend, it seems you're always on my mind, I know a selfless angel and it's you, you make me feel like I'll be fine... I want to tell you how I feel, about the world and life and stuff... but I've already told you many times, although it never seems enough..." Skye continued onto the pre chorus, getting faster and louder.
"You promise that you'll call me when you find a quiet moment, but if I just disappeared than maybe you could finally hold it, you're the one thing holding me together but I'm scared I'll drive you crazy someday...." The chorus was slow, and passionate.

"I don't want to let go of you, but would be be best if I put silly dreams to rest, I'd crawl a thousand miles to see you smile, I dont know what I'm gonan do, I don't know what I'd do without you...."

The rest of the song was similar to that. Skye finished, and looked into Evan's eyes, searching.
"She's not here for me anymore, either...... except she didn't die.... she's just..." her eyes were far away, now. "...Busy, y'know... cant blame her..."

Evan applauded Skye again for her performance, Evan's expression changed to sadness as he read between the lines of Skye's statement about her friend "oh...I'm sorry about your friend. But atleast you have new friends, Me & everyone else around here." Evan said and smiled warmly. He was often blown off by people at school when he tried messaging he assumed were his friends but always replied back saying that they were busy. which Evan knew was a thinly-veiled excuse to not talk to him.

Evan held the same sentiment as Skye did as he looked down at the guitar. He stated with a sense of bliss and a joyous smile "I think so too..." Every time Evan had a guitar in his hands, It was as if all his disorders suddenly halted. Music was his 'Happy place'

Evan took in the question with deep thought before replying "Hmm...Well, there's the folk & delta blues artists i heard, thanks to the Army officer who taught me how to play. The classic rock bands my mom would play like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, etc. My uncle turned me onto Punk bands like The Ramones, The Clash, Black Flag, Bad Religion, etc And after doing some searching on my own & with my Scene's & Girlfriend's help. I discovered Genres like Shoegaze, Post-Rock, Indie Rock, And I learned about Dark Ambient music from playing video games like Silent Hill. pretty much I'll listen to anything. Usually because of my OCD. I can't play horror video games. but on good days i can. What about You?"

Dan raised an eyebrow at the sudden movement of Kyle's wrist colliding with the table, then seeing the watercolour-like bruise on his wrist. He would think it was a self-harm thing, but Kyle didn't seem to have much control over what he was doing to himself. Dan on the other hand was pretty sure that what Kyle was doing wasn't intentional, in fact, if it were intentional he was sure he'd have to wear some sorta- safety thing on his wrists to prevent him from hurting himself. Which didn't seem to be the case as the bruise that was just peaking out of his sleeve was even making Dan's wrist hurt, as if he were bruised like that.

Dan shook his head softly, scratching at the part of his wrist where the joints would connect before focusing back on the conversation. "My stay has been... If I'm being honest," he leaned in "...It's a lot more boring than I expected." He says, hoping that nobody but Kyle would hear him, so others wouldn't get offended for thinking this unit was some mad house. "And like, it doesn't help that you're basically the only person I've talked to, other than one of the psychiatrists and some nurses." He shrugs, sitting back.

"You're definitely right about some of the young employees here though, like it's almost obvious that they're only here to get their paycheck- which is fine, but, it'd be better if they could at least act like they came into this job wanting to work in these conditions." He spoke, referencing the young nurses that strolled through the corridors, and stood on watch at the cafeteria. Some of them were pretty nice, but the majority just looked fed up. Dan couldn't blame them, as he would rather be doing something else right now also. That being said, it was nice to talk to someone his age.

Kyle was honestly shocked that Dan was willing to talk to him this much, though he tried his hardest not to show it. He supposed it might just be because Dan was new, but some foreign and superstitious part of Kyle's mind wanted to believe that Dan wasn't just humoring him... though it would be a first.
He responded eagerly to Dan's comment about the staff: "Frankly? I think they're just like us. They didn't know what to -ow! sorry...- w-what to expect from this place. I guess they thought they'd just be coloring pictures and doing yoga with some sad kids, who just need a pat on the shoulder every now and again..." Kyle paused for a second, shifting uncomfortably in his chair before continuing. "I don't think they knew we'd be... you know... annoying." He wasn't entirely sure what he meant by any of that, actually. He kind of hoped it made sense, because going back over it in his head it kind of didn't. He was just impulsively rambling, maybe... was that what he was doing all along? Probably. That was an uncomfortable thought which Kyle didn't want to perseverate on, so he forced himself to continue, despite his eye twitching and his wrist still erratically impacting the side of the table. "But.. I mean, back to your original point... or, well, my original point, I don't think anyone really wants to be working here. I think they're just not trained enough to be neurosurgeon, or maybe there wasn't enough work at the regular hospital or the adult psych ward or something. The only people who want to work with kids are the ones who are NEVER around kids... else they're just sadistic."

Skye smiled. She didn't really recognize those bands. She shrugged.
"I'm more of a twenty one pilots and MCR type... although at this point I'm more of a fan of a song than a fan of a band." Skye's left hand waved all around as she talked. She had always 'talked' with her left hand, which was funny, considering she was right handed and not ambidextrous in the least.

Location: Cafeteria
Interaction: OPEN

Daisy crossed her arms across the table top, resting her chin between her arms. Plump lips parting to let out an exasperated sigh, she leaned back on her chair. Being on an empty table really was demoralising, and though she felt lonely, she’d rather force herself to sit elsewhere and be comfortable. Anxiety would prevent her from communicating with anyone herself, but she wished she had the ability to.

Combing a hand through her wavy, dark hair, she leaned backwards, head lolling over the back of the seat. The food in front of her was of the utmost disgusting nature. Brown mush with dry, over boiled vegetables. Picking up a fork, she began messing with the food, pushing and compressing it into a pile of ‘nutritious’ mess. With two abnormally sliced carrots, she pressed it into the mush, creating eyes. With a string bean, she created a smiley face, her own lips tugging into a similar shape, before grabbing the fork and jamming it into the pile, making the table splatter with brown mush. “Happiness is impermanent. You’ll learn that. Sadness is the only true permanence,” smile fading from sadistic to neutral, she found herself chewing her cheek, mind trying to work out what she had meant and where she stood at it. It was true- all of her ups were short lived and were always dominated by her bad swings. They always came back.

Gentle hands pushed her food tray forwards, onto the furthest side of the table, yet the dirty mashed potatoes still littered the wooden bench like broken warriors. Deciding the only way to entertain herself as to sing, Daisy began to mutter an almost inaudible tune under her breath.

Skye looked up at Evan, searching his gaze. She hadn't lied to him yet. She had trusted him completely, so far. She was gonna tell him.... then she changed her mind. She looked down at the keys, rubbing one back and forth with her left pointer finger.
"Ah, them. Nice folks, y'know. They just don't know what to do with a freak like me. Rich, nice, but they just don't get it.... hey... do you like Ed Sheeran? I can play two of his songs too...."

Evan had a sense that what she told him about her family was a lie, But he chalked it up to it being too painful to talk about. So he replied to her question & didn't pursue his suspicion any further "Eh...He's not really my type of music really. But sure, I'm interested in hearing you play again." Evan told her truthfully. He didn't much care for Modern Pop, atleast not the Number #1 on Billboard Pop Bands & Artists. Even though he enjoyed Pop music for the most part.

Skye began to play 'Supermarket Flowers', figuring out too late that is was a bad idea. A song about your mom dying? Fun. Yeah... Skye played through it, but by the end her hands were shaking. She smiled bravely, shoving back the rage of emotions that was threatening to take over. "Your turn!"

Evan tried to think of a song to play as he strummed the strings randomly. He figured out a song to play "True" off of the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack, but he wanted to play it on the piano. The way it was intended, He asked Skye if he could play the piano for a few minutes. "My grandma taught me Piano. Do you mind if i play something?"

"Thanks." Evan said as he sat down on the Piano's bench. He hit a few keys to remember the notes. He finally got it & started the song, after a few minutes The Atmosphere of the room changed when the first few notes connected creating a hauntingly beautiful melody. To Evan, "True" was the song that he believed summed up what Depression felt like. His long fingers slid across the keys with precise accuracy & speed. Just like the Eight-legged animal his finger nicknamed after. He finished the song with the last chords of the song. He turned to Skye to see her reaction to his playing.

(OOC: Sorry for the late reply, I was playing Crash Bandicoot 2 on the PS4 collection called Crash Bandicoot: The N. Sane Trilogy. I'm almost near the end of it.)
