Evan asked Skye why she was here. Her forehead still hurt, but she was beginning to calm down.
"Depression, anxiety, y'know." She shrugged like it wasn't a big deal. That's mostly what she told everyone. It was true, and while she longed to share the things that plagued her, the nightmares she had, she had been hurt too many times to trust anyone. You know, homeschool moms and sheltered friends and stuff. The worst source of unwanted judgement you could ever ask for. People who think that you can just try hard enough to get out of it. Skye tried her hardest. And she broke. That's why she was here now.
Evan sat down at a table and Skye went up to see what was to be eaten. She didn't feel confident enough to make anything much, so she grabbed some frosted flakes and was satisfied with that. She didn't have much of an appetite anyway.
Should she sit by herself? It looked like Evan was waiting for her. It would be rude to sit somewhere else. So she sat down across from him, and decided to get him talking to avoid being asked any questions, herself. He seemed nice, though. Not TOO scary.
"So," She began, stirring her cereal, "What about you? Why are you here?" She asked it, casually, like it was no big deal. It seemed the best way to do things, often.
