(The opening of my first post will be in 1st person)
It happened 17 years ago, and it happened out of nowhere, scientists told everyone it was going to be harmless for everyone not in very low orbit, that a passing comet would drift by earth, and that ice chunks would fall to earth, resulting in a glittering sky for a full 24 hours, it was to be something to tell the children for generations to come... What we got, was something that would change our world forever.
As they drifted to earth, scientists saw these "Ice shards" changing, taking shapes, even growing into forms that resembled humans, human women to be more precise, changing color, shape, density, everything, they fell to earth by the hundreds of millions all across the globe, every town, every city, even most farms were hit.
I remember it, even though at the time I was only 3, my first memory if you would, not everyone can remember it, but some of us do, I remember my parents and I were watching the spectacle from the train depot since it was almost entirely unused and one of the best open areas in town which was near our house so, not far from my mother's medicine cabinet as she had a multitude of illnesses, I remember one of the sparkles in the sky growing closer, and soon my parents tried to run, but before they could get even 20 meters it struck the ground, kicking up dist and rocks everywhere, it was at this point all I could do was cry my little eyes out and cry "mummy!" my mother tried to comfort me, but her comfort could do nothing for what would follow. As the dust cleared, we looked and beheld a woman, she was dressed in loose fitting, beautiful shining silk-like robes, her pale, fair skin sparkled in the light, her hair reached past her shoulders, her eyes were a deep purple, her hair a light shade of blue. My father tried to come between her and my mother and I, but without effort, the 7 foot woman grabbed him with her left arm, a light shone through her arm and into my father's throat where she held him, and he went limp. My mother screamed, grabbing me and she tried to run, this strange woman, she raised her right arm and a hail of small crystals shot from her arm, puncturing my mother in all areas, she was dead before I hit the ground, which just left me, sitting on my soiled behind, my head facing upwards and crying my little lungs out, crying for help from the big bad woman who hurt mommy and daddy... It was at this moment, that this woman, this murderer, she picked me up, cradled me in her arms, kissed my on my forehead and uttered in a gentle voice "shhh now sweety, mommy's here..."

we skip 17 years later, that little boy Marchus has grown into a fine young man, sitting on a metro train to Melbourne he fiddles with his big, black leather bag, this was his 2nd year at Melbourne University, in reality he had no idea what he wants to do with his life, doing university courses is just something to keep himself occupied while maintaining the illusion he's doing something with his life, across with him, he sees one of the Crystalla, one of these otherworldly females, she looks at him with a gentle smile and Marchus just looks back down at his bag.
Marchus is a "Vision" as they call them, people who the mind-wiping didn't work on, but no-one seems upset that their memories have been altered, everyone knows it but no-one seems bothered by it, well, except for the "Visions". With the train pulling in to Southern Cross station, Marchus exits just as his phone begins ringing, taking it out of his right pocket he answers it "hello?... yeah, hey mom... yeah, look I'm ok, you need to stop calling me every hour... I can take care of myself I'm 20... ok... ok, love you mom, bye" he sighed as he put it back in his pocket, there was another thing about the Crystallis, they looked almost human, they sounded ALMOST human, they behaved almost human, but they never quite got it right, when they speak they sound like 3-8 different but similar voices all speaking at once, they never try to lose the shining skin they had when they first invaded, and everything they do looks and sounds almost robotic.
He moved to another platform, getting on another train he rode it for another 15 minutes, soon getting to near where his apartment was, it was a university owned apartment complex so rent was cheap as dirt but well... it was a shared university dorm so... you know. He entered the building and went to his room, room 337, once in he threw his bags on the floor, and collapsed on the bed, he could hear a pair of Crystallis girls talking next door, they talked well, like everything else they did, ALMOST like humans, it bugged Marchus to no end "Did you see Harry's new sports car?" "Yes, a Jaguar" "Yes, his parents are quite wealthy" ALL DAY WITH THIS! they never sounded "right" and always sounded like foreign kids trying to hard to speak English after 4 lessons.
Marchus had managed to fall into a nice nap after this, but was soon interrupted by a knock at his front door, groaning, he got up, almost hitting his head on the unoccupied top bunk he made his way to the door, opening it to find....
