Crime Pays

"Cinemaplex 20, up on 3rd." he said, waiving the waitress over to get a refill on his coffee. He sipped at it and sighed a bit. "On any given weekend they're pulling at least a hundred grand. A month from now they're going to have a couple huge releases all at once, and that's when we'll hit it." he said, thinking. "All you need to do is get a job there, get me a copy of the employee schedule, and note where the entrances and exits, the security cameras, and the motion detectors are. Pretty easy."

Senna tilted her head to the side trying to place the cinema, it wasn't one she really went to because it was fairly far from her apartment. She gnawed on her bottom lip lightly in thought. "There is still the issue of getting the job." She glanced over to him studying him closely. If she had just met him on the street he would have seemed like any average guy not some criminal mastermind.

He shrugged a bit, his eyes meeting hers. They had a sharpness to them that was uncanny. The eyes of someone who was observant, almost to a fault. "That's not that much of an issue. I've got a little bit of pull with the manager there. I'll have him get in touch with you."

Senna blinked a few times "Wait you know the manage? and you want to steel from him?" She questioned slightly confused. Either he was heartless or just a really good negotiator.

"Well... I don't know the manager all that well. I do know that he's cheating on his wife with three other women, none of whom know he's cheating on them. All I have to do is place an anonymous phone call and threaten him if he doesn't hire you. I've been manipulating the poor bastard for six months now." he said, chuckling to himself. "You'll get hired without an interview, and even after the job he'll be too stupid or scared to try and link you to it."

Senna stared at him a moment wondered who the hell she was dealing with. "O...kay...." she muttered softly. There was no telling if this guy was telling the truth but there was no telling if he was lying either. She was most likely going to take him up on the offer if only for the job.

He chuckled a bit, leaning his head on a hand while he watched her. "You're apprehensive. I can understand why, it's not every day that a girl stumbles onto money-making opportunities that don't include selling your body on the street corner. Here." he said, jotting his number on a napkin. "Take a couple of days to think it over. When you're ready, give me a call, we can discuss it more in depth."

Senna frowned deeply at the mention of selling her self, that definitely something she wanted no part of. She took the napking noting only the letter A again and looked back to him. "I'll think about it... but perhaps a name to go with the number might be nice." she suggested "Something more than just a letter?"

"Aaron. We'll hold off on the last name for a while, at least until I get to know you better." he said with a small smirk, extending a hand to her. He figured telling her his first name wouldn't hurt, he had enough aliases that he wouldn't have to worry about it coming back to bite him. Hell, his legitimate business was under a false name that most people knew him by.

Senna nodded slightly "Well then nice to meet you Aaron." She shook his hand with a slight smile.

--- Few Days later ---

Senna gnawed on her bottom lip as she stared at her phone. She had applied to several jobs but had doubts shed get a call from any of the. the money she had gotten turned out to be really helpful in paying all of the bills off that she had backed up. Though it had eaten away at most of the money. She took a deep breath before dialing the number given to her on the napkin and waited for the other end to pick up. By the third ring she was tempted to hang up and pretend she never called in the first place.

Aaron was sitting in his apartment, working out the plans for another job he had lined up when his phone started ringing. He looked over and saw Senna's name pop up, a small smirk appearing on his lips. He picked up the phone, clearing his throat a bit.

"Hey there. I was beginning to think I wasn't going to hear from you." he said, chuckling a bit.

Senna was about to hang up when a voice replied over the speaker. "Yeah, was sorting stuff out on my end...." she replied a voice in the back of her head telling her shes insane. "But yeah is the offer still open?"

He smirked a bit, leaning back on his sofa. "Absolutely. You start tomorrow at 12. Just walk in and tell the manager that Fox told you to show up. For the next couple weeks, just work as normal, and get copies of the schedules for each week." he said, glancing up at the ceiling. He thought for a moment, wondering what else he needed to cover. "Any questions for me?"

Senna blinked a few times wondering if he had been expecting her to call that day or not. She sighed softly and shook her head. "uh... what does this guy look like? Also how am I supposed to get you the security information?"

"He's the manager, his name's Eric. He'll be in at 11:30 tomorrow. You and I will meet up occasionally to get me the schedules." he explained, chuckling a bit. "Don't be nervous, it'll be fine. All I need is employee schedules. You don't have to get anything that could cost you the job."

Senna gnawed on her bottom lip lightly as he explained. She really insane for going along with this plan but nothing else in her life was really sane to begin with. "Alright..." she muttered softly. "Sounds simple enough..."

"It is. All I'm basically doing is giving you a job because I made you lose your last one." he said, chuckling a bit. "You sound nervous. You don't have to be, relax. It's not like you're committing a felony."

Senna frowned slightly and shook her head, this guy was way too confident. He either had been doing things for a long time or had a huge ego. Either way it didn't comfort her too much. "True enough..." she replied not wanting to give him the impression that she was a push over or easily intimidated. She wasn't normally but something about this Arron guy just didn't sit well with her. Even if he was a great guy who could be giving all his extra money to orphans there was something just... off. "I'll stop by the theater at noon then and text you on how things go."

"Sounds good to me. Don't worry yourself about not doing a perfect job, I'm not a strict employer." he teased, chuckling a bit. "If you'd like, we could meet up after your shift." he added, an oddly casual sound to his voice. "I prefer talking face to face, honestly. Phones are too easy to trace." He liked this girl, and was even considering having her as a permanent partner. Of course, she didn't seem to comfortable about the kind of work he did, so only time would tell if she'd be up for it.

Senna nodded slightly "Which ever works best." She replied softly. questions bugging her in the back of her head. "Well... if you don't mind me asking how long have you been doing this? you seem to know a lot."

Aaron was a bit surprised at the question, chuckling a bit. "Well, I can't tell you the whole story just yet, but I will say I've been doing this a very long time." he said, smiling a bit to himself. She was inquisitive, that was good. "I've found that sitting at a desk for eight hours a day, forty hours a week for a little over a grand just won't cut it. I'd rather work two or three hours and make a hell of a lot more." he said, leaning back in his chair. "I guess you could call me lazy, in a sense. Why do you ask?"

Senna thought on it and really couldn't blame him for his reasons for turning to crime. She shrugged slightly "You just seam to either be extremely confident or like you have a lot of experienced in this line of work." She commented. She was slowly starting to feel more comfortable around the guy but was still unsure of what to make of him.

"A little of both, if I'm honest. With my kind of work, if you doubt yourself, that's when you make mistakes. So, I have to be a little overconfident at times." he said with a small laugh. "Why, did I come off as cocky?" he asked, leaning his head back on his chair while he looked up at the ceiling, the decrepit little ceiling fan whirring along slowly. "Sorry if it was off-putting."

"Just a tad bit." She smirked slightly. "Makes sense though.... some would say overconfidence leads to folly as well." She chuckled glancing though the window beside her. "Regardless. how long would I have to work at the theater?"

He chuckled a bit. "I had to learn that lesson the hard way, a long time ago. That's a story for another time, though." he said, closing his eyes. "How long? Well, however long you want. Even after my job's done, that doesn't mean that you'll have to quit yours. I felt bad for getting you fired from the museum, so I figured I'd do something to help you out. It was my fault, after all."
