Realistic or Modern Creek {Closed.}

Sybil looked up from under her hood.  The trees towered over her.  She could see them swaying slightly at the tops high above her.  When she was young, she always went to the woods to find solace.  She was here now for it once more.  She shivered though she wasn't cold, bringing her arms closer to her body.  She walked on, soon finding a trail.  Her dark eyes peered far ahead.  She tried to focus on clearing her head.  Sybil wanted to feel safe there with the trees surrounding her.  She found herself quickening her pace.

I paddled on my bike as fast as I can. Only a few km to reach the next road, I turned and pressed the handbrake to make a safe turn around the corner. I returned and kept paddling on the paddle gear. I ducked down to accelerate through the wind. The rest of the cyclist group seemed to be far behind, I paddled at my full heart's content and accelerated much further on the road. I looked back behind for three seconds and turned my head back to position. But all of a sudden.... My bike tripped on something.... I sprung out off my bike and fell to the ground as I tumbled over on the grass. As I stopped rolling over, my body stopped by the tree. Luckily I can still move my body after my fall. My leg was bruised however my bike seemed to be okay. But my tracks were all ruined, a small ripped hole was displaying my bruised knee. I tried to stand up and staggered to reach my bike but my knee is still bleeding over my leg so I declined and headed to the creek, looking for a nearby water source to cleanse off my injury. I began at this particular trial, hoping to lead to the right direction.

The trail was getting close to the end. It started to narrow, and more obstacles blocked the way. I don't want to break the camera, but I want a picture of the creek godamnit! I'll just stop for a water break...

Amy's focus on the trail was decimated as her partner (Jessica) called out for her, trying to catch up with her. Jessica hobbled up to her, her high heels making it hard for her to walk fast. Amy didn't know how long she could keep this up.

"Amy, what have I done wrong? You've been ignoring me ever since we drove here".

Either confess or make up an excuse, Amy. What'll it be?

"You've done nothing wrong, Jessica, really. It's... it's..."

"Amy, you can tell me anything. If something is bothering you then get if off your chest. Are you sure it's not me? Or..."

"I cheated on you"!

Oh my god, why did I say that? That isn't even true.

Jessica struggled to accept this, looking ready to break down.

"Y... you cheated on me"?

Amy could barely look at Jessica, seeing a tear go down her face. She tried to give her a hug but Jessica shook her head.

"Let's keep walking..."? Amy whispered, Jessica not even looking at her as they walked together. She felt Jessica hold her hand though. Tightly.

As she proceeded further down the path, Shinoa did stop every so often to do some sight seeing. While taking a few pictures with her phone, she felt her baby kicking. Looking down at her belly, she smiled. "Ohh, I know sweetie, I wish you could see it too." She mused, patting her belly. Taking a deep breath, she continued down the path, where she did overhear a faint argument between two girls. After a couple of minutes, she made it down to the creek. It was a nice view and she ended up taking a few pictures, even taking a selfie with it behind her and showing off her belly, smiling. Afterwards, she would upload it on Instagram before slipping her phone back into her purse. Finally, she just listened to the water running down the creek. It was absolutely beautiful and...peaceful to her. Gently, she just rubbed her belly to keep her little one calm as she was getting agitated at the excessive kicking.

The creek was beautiful, It flowed through the forest like silk. Everything was so calm.

I take a swig of water.

I can see a couple people down the creek. Some woman taking a selfie. Some guy sitting at the edge. Two women just coming in...

It was just a nice day. I took a photo of the creek, I waited for the camera to register, and the snap sound occurs.

I lift it up to my eyes.

That's strange. Something with my color must be off. The creek is a maroon color in the photo. It's never happened before, but it must be something to do with the camera's display.

The sound of unfamiliar voices reached Sybil before the familiar sound of the water moving down the creek.  Assessing her surroundings, she noticed the people one by one.  She didn't take long to really look at each one.  She wanted to move on ahead.  Before she could do much of anything, an eerie feeling descended through her.  The hairs on the back of her neck stood up and she stopped in her tracks.  She jumped slightly, shooting a quick look behind her.  She shook her head slightly, closing her eyes.  Reminding herself of where she was, she took a deep breath.  She knew she was letting her nerves get the best of her.  This was somewhere where she didn't have to be afraid.  She opened her eyes, centered once more, yet the unsettling feeling stayed in the back of her mind.

I tried to walk with an injured knee as I staggered across the path of dirt. My black nikes were getting dirty every single step I take. My wound was no big deal at all, but deep inside me, I'm feeling really down about the race. But man, luck was not on my side.....

As soon I arrived, I approached the creek while I see people around the place. I can hear their voices and their footsteps. They are probably tourists in my point of view. I slowly staggered and faced at the creek. And finally I can cleanse off my wound.

Chapter 3:

Waters flowing southwards.

Alexander

I got up after drinking about a quarter of the bottle. Feels nice to have something refreshing. I'd take a couple steps towards the creek's edge. I'd snap another shot, very curious about the color. Once I lift it to my head to look, the camera glitch is gone! Hallelujah. Maybe there was some dirt in the water...who knows!?

The remnants of a trail lead South, the direction the water flowed. I flick my finger back to look at the red water. Something was peculiar. It was only a splotch of red, not the whole creek. I stared at it a little longer, not even realizing I was walking back towards  the parking lot. The red color started to consume the picture, growing brighter, it seemed to head for my face. The whole picture turned crimson. Then the date, and all the GUIs started to fade into the crimson expanse. A small chill fell over my body, like a breeze  blowing by.

I walked right towards the creek unknowingly, the sounds of rushing water grew louder, until a fish jumping startled me, I flung myself back, hitting the ground with a thud. My camera slammed the ground shattering, and rolling along the ground. It was destroyed. It vibrated a little, and the crimson picture faded, but before it did, the crimson color vanished.

A small breeze brushed past my face, and I saw a bit of dust whirl up towards the trail back to the lot. It vanished, and I stared for what felt like an hour, but was probably 5 seconds, and the largest tree collapsed on the path. This is California, and we git some big trees.'

The trail was blocked. The people around turned their heads, the way back was gone, and the trail up ahead didnt reach very far. I just sat on the ground, sprawled on my back.

What had just happened?

Shinoa took a closer look at the water, think that she saw something. She was a little curious, but then she heard the sound of rushing water and it continually got louder and louder. Turning around, she saw another person, who was carrying a camera, fling back and landing on the ground with a heavy thud. The camera...wasn't as lucky. Suddenly, a large tree collapsed, blocking the path out. This left the young mother worried, because what if she went into labor. After the sudden chain of events, Shinoa looked down at her belly, placing her hand on it, feeling the baby kick at her touch.

Amy let Jessica rest on a tree stump, relieved to be away from her since she was scared of what she might be thinking of planning to do. Thinking of just spilling out the truth, Amy took a deep breath and spun around. Jessica had taken off her cardigan and tight shoes, thinking deeply about Amy. She took off her glasses, placed them beside her on the stump, rubbing her eyes gently. Amy approached her girlfriend before a sight beheld her.

"Jess"!

A tree was about to fall on her.

Amy grabbed her and ran, Jessica in her arms.

"What are you..."?!

The tree slammed onto the stump where Jess was previously sat. Both girls jumped, Jess squinting at the tree.

"Y... you saved me".

Sybil's eyes were drawn to a nearby source of activity.  A young man fell to the ground and his camera shattered.  She frowned, her brow bending slightly.  She hoped the camera hadn't been too important to him.  Then, with a sudden gust of wind, a large tree collapsed.  She jumped, a noise of shock leaving her throat.  She immediately began fiddling with the silver ring on her pointer finger.  Sybil stood straight as a board, her dark eyes wide, coming down from her initial shock enough to assess the situation.  The path was blocked.  Her head turned sharply, looking to the path ahead.  With the wheels of her mind spinning too fast for her to be doing any real thinking, she covered her face with her hands for a moment, taking a deep breath.  She noticed the man with the broken camera was still sprawled on the ground.  She came closer, crouching a bit.  "Are you alright?  I'm sorry about your camera."  She spoke quietly, her eyes still darting to the fallen tree every so often.

I washed my knee with the creek's water all over my skin. For a sec, a loud thud was heard down the other direction of the creek. I quickly turned around and faced my head at that direction where the loud thud came from. By the exit of the path, it was blocked by a large tree. Coincidentally, this must be one of the bits of my bad luck but It may be just a coincidence. As no one was seen to be hurt down there, I quickly finishes off cleansing my wound with creek water. After washing my knee off, I rubbed my black Nikes against the rocks to get rid of the dirt and headed to the group.

"Hey! What happened?" I called out, slowly running into the group. Before I approach them, I removed my blue goggles.
