Haul immediately let the gun drop so Tristan would miss, swaying back from the angry swing onto his tail & catching the pistol with one of his dexterous feet. As Tristan's blade slashed the air, Haul countered immediately. Tristan was much too large for the shaft, whereas Haul fit near perfectly. Which meant that the Zumolkan had the advantage, not only in movement but in limbs. Haul utilized that well.
Haul smashed Tristan's wrist into the ventilation shaft with his unoccupied foot, while both hands reached out and clutched Tristan's head. Haul grunted as he slammed Tristan's face into the vent floor, denting the metal. He backed away quickly, returning the pistol to his hands and keeping the aim steady.
"Guess I'll be fixing that," Haul growled, eyeing the dent and new scuff marks on the vent walls. "You want to keep going, 'not a simple Homo sapien?' I'd rather not personally, but your call."
