[Come on, Baby, Light My Fire] The Metaworld

Another one for the wish list:

WAIL OF THE DAMNED (DEATH • • •)

Dice Pool:
Charisma + Occult

Cost: 1 Legend

The greatest of all Odin’s deeds is this: that he made man, and gave him his spirit, which shall endure and not be destroyed, though the fleshly shell crumble to dirt or burn to ashes; and all men shall live on, such as are just and courageous in action, like him in highest heaven. But evil men go to the house of Hel, and further down yet into the cold mists of Niflheim that is the lowest of all worlds.

Nearly every culture believes that an afterlife of bliss awaits those who lived and died in ways the gods approve. But woe to those whose deeds were judged and found wanting! At best, such souls are lost in the cold mists of the Underworld, wandering alone, forever. At worst, they suffer all the miseries they inflicted on others while alive…and that’s just the beginning.

With this Boon, the Scion of a God of Death can warn the living of what fate awaits the unworthy. By spending a point of Legend, she can make an unholy dirge burst forth from the ground, filling those who hear it with horror. The frustrated wails of the weak-willed, the cowardly and the selfish as they drift helplessly through the cold and dark; the agonized screams of the brutal and treacherous as they writhe in flames or venom; all these combine into a terrifying chorus of the damned that sends most listeners into a blind panic.

Those with no Legend automatically flee in fright, desperately trying to forget what they have heard. Opponents with a Legend score must roll (Wits + Integrity + Legend) versus the Scion’s (Charisma + Occult + Legend) to resist panicking. If they succeed, they are immune to the Boon’s effects for the rest of the scene. If the roll fails, the victim will either run away, terrified (Legend less than the Scion’s); stand petrified with fear, unable to act (Legend equal to the Scion’s); or be severely shaken (Legend greater than the Scion’s), losing a die from all rolls for a number of actions equal to the Scion’s Legend is severely shaken, losing dice equal to the Scion’s Legend for a number of turns equaling her successes on the activation roll.

Sorry, the effect on other Scions is too powerful, compare with Chaos 3 and War 2 from Hero. They (and you) should also be able to add Legend to the activation and resistance rolls.

Would that be a suitable nerf, then? I don't mind tweaking the mechanics of the thing; it's the concept I like.

No. Arguably it is not even a nerf since it improves both yours and your opponent's dicepool. I think perhaps using the current Equal effect for the Lessers, and the Greater effect for Greater and Equal would do it, but i'm still worried that it is too powerful against others of lesser Legend. A single attack which can passify any nearby creatures with lesser Legend is big stuff.

*rewrites after nerfing*

I giggled uncontrollably when reading Lorelai's. I mean this in the nicest way humanly possible- the name had me thinking of the Anne Rice books, and then. Yeah. xD

Thanks, I am enjoying the cheesy vampire persona she has. Its barrels of fun. Also I was looking over stats because I am crazy and the Sunday group is ludicrously attractive. 3/4 people favor epic appearance. Lowest appearance out of the group is a 4, and everyone has a dot of epic appearance.

.... Hey, if you manage to pry Luke away from his Sister, the shipping might begin, and get awkward. Cus he's a Straight up Bronzed Greek God Physique Hawtness.

James too! Definitely that tanned olive-toned skin with blond hair and steel gray eyes. You'd best believe he's the son of a god.

While Ashley looks like Snow White...but closer to the Neil Gaiman version than the Disney version.

Oh, hey, I'm not in-group shipping for once (I have a Guide for that). I'm also the homely one in the group with only 4 Appearance. Also did not favor Appearance.

Just a reminder, the first session will commence in just under 16 hours. I hope to catch you all on Skype before that to let you know how your character becomes involved in the plot. If that does not happen, I'll post outlines in a thread here about an hour before gamestart.
