Colaborative Worldbuilding?

I am up for it but one question how much of it is going to be fresh water and salt? Earth has only 1% fresh water and we are just getting by, so make the fresh water 2% then its good >>

About 2.59% of Earth's total water supplies is drinkable water (Searched google) about 90% of that are in the Ice Caps... Also why not just make a majority of the planets water fresh??

The oceans are huge. About 70 percent of the planet is covered in ocean' date=' and the average depth of the ocean is several thousand feet (about 1,000 meters). Ninety-eight percent of the water on the planet is in the oceans, and therefore is unusable for drinking because of the salt. About 2 percent of the planet's water is fresh, but 1.6 percent of the planet's water is locked up in the polar ice caps and glaciers. Another 0.36 percent is found underground in aquifers and wells. Only about 0.036 percent of the planet's total water supply is found in lakes and rivers. That's still thousands of trillions of gallons, but it's a very small amount compared to all the water available.[/quote']
Take it you guys didnt read my post.

Plus with 40% water on the planet and the majority of it, inland lakes and rivers. only ocean=undrinkable. So there should be a ton of fresh water.

Also, the salt water is what makes the thermohaline conveyor go, which most of you prolly know as the Gulf Stream, the warm water that keep England warmer despite being at a higher latitude. I must be tired, that doesn't look like it makes any sense...

im sure rex would let you design our new gulf stream or sorts if you wanted and felt it pertinent to the rp and its environment

Well, when you think about it, and this might end up being a tad off topic to start with but it gets back to the whole water thing. We keep basing this solely on aspects of earth, no? And when you think about it, you have other factors to take in when thinking about amount of water affecting the life and heat levels of the planet. For instance, if the earth was closer to the sun, or the sun larger, we would be burning in heat that water absorbed, yet if farther we would be colder. This planet/place we are creating, the water levels could be completely different from earth depending on placement in its universe, sun size(if it even has one) and other relative things like that.

So, if you read through that, congrats. Anyway, what I was getting at was when looking at this, wouldn't it make a little more sense to add in a little extra detail like things like that, to help determine water levels and how much of it is salt water and fresh water?

I want to announce that this project is not dead, after doing some planning and some researching I've come across a far better and far more fun way of going about this long tiresome process. For those people still interested despite my appearant abandoning of the project go ahead and stay tuned for my full update on what's going on.

And just give a quick response to this post so I can get a basic headcount.
