Also sailor moon crystal is a good watch. If you must compare it to anything compare it to the manga and not the older anime. I personally love it. It glosses over some side stories while expanding others. My favorite is the dark moon arc in season two. Especially Black Lady’s story. They don’t do that weird two voice thing with her.

My favorite part about Crystal is how wild its fandom is. I have a friend who is extremely into this show she was the one who dragged me to the anniversary exhibit lol not that I minded and we were just talking about how strangely cultish it can be at times. 0,0

I've only watched bits and pieces of Crystal so I guess I don't really have an educated opinion. Like you, my sister and I watched the first couple episodes when they came out then proceeded to drop it amidst all the controversy. While I uhm hate the old art/transformations the new is probably the best the show has ever looked (haven't watched any episodes since the update so idk if the animation has also improved One of my all-time idols worked on the OG so I doubt anything will live up to that in my heart xD). There's also some really nice voice work. But from what I've seen and heard it focuses more on Usagi / Mamoru's relationship and Usagi's development especially, but deviates time away from developing the other Senshi (apparently Neptune has suffered greatly from this :s). Kind of the cost-effect of it being more streamlined. I've also heard that villains get less development too. Can say I think my favorite kids the Black Moon Clan got kukd (since I went back and watched all their episodes once it finished airing), but I guess they were closer to their original manga ver in Crystal. And yeah they did try and go deep on making it like the manga, especially with designs and layouts. Though I think they still made changes here and there. So if you live and die by the manga it could be worth it for that alone.
Probably worth a go anyways if you're a fan and want something new to watch? Idk if I'll ever get around to finishing it too many waifus call my name but I am a bit curious.
 
It is true that non usagi characters get less time, but honestly they got less time in the manga as a whole, so it's not that surprising that something closer to the manga would do that as well. I recall one person who preferred the older animes art style disliking the art, though I don't mind it since it reminds me of the manga. I have, as far as I am aware watched all the crystal episodes out so far. It is closer to the manga than the original anime, but still deviates from it. Some parts are changes that make no sense to me and I'm not that fond of, but all and all it's still nice. . . Though honestly I still prefer the original anime and manga. They both make more sense to me.
 
I watched like, to episode 8 of Crystal, and really liked it, but didn't end up sticking with it. I think a part of me wasn't too into the character design? There was something I really liked about the classic's characters, and I like crystal for what it's doing, but so much of my relationship with Sailor Moon is nostalgia, and crystal didn't necessarily tap into that nostalgia for me. It's a weird thing, in that I love what Crystal is doing and what's it got going on, but it's not for me.

I want my fancy font back. And the bg's seem to fail randomly. Centerblock doesn't seem to work either :( I'll have to go through the new BBCodes and see what I can do.

I know they said some things would be a bit before they were back- the sites back up, sure, but I think they're still doing some rewiring and coding in the back.
 
Myeah and some stuff might need a moment to kick in, but all the basic essentials work again. So I'm happy
 
I’m such a huge fan of the old one. I own every episode XD and am currently buying the ne redubbed though I don’t like Luna’s voice. It’s kind of jarring. I’m so use to her old one.

Anyway I actually never read the manga. But I’ll probably end up watching it. But I’m not going to lie I HATE how they transform in this one. It looks weird. It looks plastic and rubbwet.

As far as the conversation here, I love the original series, all 200+ episodes. But I agree that Crystal has to be watched with the understanding that it is something new and that it has to be separated from nostalgia of the original series. I’m liking it though I just started season three so I cant wait to see the outers finally. The way they worked Pluto’s rules into season 2 instead of season 3 both streamlined the character and deepened her relationship with Chibiusa when she broke them to save her from being Black Lady. It was awesome and had me in tears!!
 
Oh that's quite alright Endy, I remember last time Asami went to Ryoko's side too so I wasn't surprised haha
 
Hey fish? I'm a little confused? I would have thought Haruka and Michiru would have been loving parents to both their children (even if one needed more taming) based on how loving they are in canon and towards Hotaru even though she was not a child of theirs by blood. But you just now wrote them more as neglectful parents who rarely even interacted with him? I don't know, it felt a little disjointed? In part because that vibe didn't come from the CS for him
 
I never said neglectful? Only that they spent more time on one kid than the other. He still spent time with them, just normally it was watching them then really interacting with them. Parents can still spent time with their kids without saying anything to them, it's pretty common and it's not really neglectful. Someone can be a good parent without giving their kids tons of hugs, its not a requirement. Also, I have a feeling his moms could tell he's not into hugs. Also, quickest way to make him back away, unless its Shizumu. He would tolerate i for him, but yeah, he's just not the huggy type. Honestly if there was an actual reason behind why outside of just not liking hugs then I wouldn't be surprised be surprised if he got tired of them before his memory processing fully developed, or something similar.
