Realistic or Modern Chosen Souls

Abe sat up startled, heart hammering in her chest as she looked at the room around her. It was the same run down motel she had paid for the night before. A soft melody played in her ears before she lowered her headphones down onto her neck with a sigh. She turned off her ipod before getting off the bed and moving to the bathroom with a cringe. The room looked a lot worse for wear than she had thought last night, granted she was exhausted from having to outrun a group of men after her. Her reflection in the dirty mirror was doing a lot better though. Her pink hair was a little messy but besides that she was her normal self... Under-Eye bags and split ends included. "I should get ready to leave..."

An hour later she got dressed in some new clothes and grabbed her bag before leaving the room with everything packed in her bag. The moment she was out the door a smile was on her face and she started walking in the direction of lots of people. They never tried anything when the public was around. Her hood was up and she looked like every other girl within the crowd, she was part of the crowd. Despite the many people around her, she still felt very alone. Pulling on her hood to cover her eyes, she felt her eyes water and could tell that the sniffling was not far off. "Don't cry, don't cry.." Abe quietly mumbles to herself with a sniffle.

((I'm sorry it's not that great, but I couldn't think of anything. T^T))

''The E.B.E.P are such fucking assholes'' he said to himself, quietly in the room he was stuck in. He had decided to sleep in the motel, god knows where the rest of his ''friends'' were at. He didn't feel comfortable being alone, that feeling of always being watched isn't something any teenager should have to pass troughout these days. School was just a place that didn't exist for them anymore, with the danger they passed each day it was nonexistent. Jonathan slowly got up from the motel bed, reaching for the table and grabbing his gun. He quickly cocked it and put it in his jeans, putting on the safety. Better safe than sorry, these fuckers don't have a bit of mercy, they see me, they'll shoot me in an instant, and I don't plan on dying today.

Mad world we live in, where people get kileld by being different, and it was something they didn't even choose. He took out his cellphone, turning it on and entering the Message area. Abe, was a contact there. maybe he didn't remember her because of insomia, but he was sure he did know her. ''Hey, I don't really remember you but I think I know you. Meet me at the Cafe in the 12 Av, it's about 2 streets from the mall, I'll pay for your coffee, I want to talk,'' Send.

Ugh.

Clove's eyes snapped open and the first thing she noticed was the low aching pain in her back. "This motel bed is shit." She muttered to herself, closing her eyes again. She did not want to get out of bed. Not today, or any day for that matter. What was the point anyway? Clove knew that it would just be another day of watching her back, just waiting for some stupid agent to strike. Still, she forced herself out of bed and to the barely functional closet in the room. Last night, Clove had shoplifted an outfit from the local mall and she began to slip on the crop top and shorts. Clove would rather throw on a pair of leggings and a hoodie, but she had to blend in with the normal kids her age, who apparently thought that showing off half their bodies was a genius idea. She pulled her long red hair up into a high ponytail with her bangs hanging out loosely.

Giving her self a quick check in the mirror, Clove was ready. Well, as ready as a teenager with crazy powers on the run could be. She slipped her phone in her back pocket after turning it too vibrate and exited the room. The motel hallway smelled like a mix of straight vodka and wet dog, so Clove quickly made her way down the hall. Damn, I really need a new place to crash. And maybe some breakfast... Clove sighed. Another day in the life.

Abe sniffled as she pulled out her phone after it vibrated in her pocket. After seeing who had messaged her, she smiled while wiping her eyes and replying to it. 'Jeez Jon, I know we aren't that close, but I remember your name. xD But I'll meet you there okay~' Pressing the send button, she then put her phone back into her jacket pocket. "I wonder what we'll talk about? " She questioned to herself while skipping forward, her mood elevated from the promise of being with a friend, well someone she thought of as a friend. Granted she didn't many people to choose from thanks to the E.B.E.P. "I wonder if the cafe will have food. What about cookies? Or crepes. Or cake!" The prospect of having cake with a friend appealed to her empty stomach, that grumbled at the thought of food.

Since she hadn't had food since yesterday evening, it was a wonder why she hadn't said anything about how hungry she was. Though as she turned the corner onto 12 Av, taking a moment to look over her shoulder behind her at the growing crowd as more people came out to meet their friends and getting errands done. No teens though, maybe because they have to go to school. That was one good thing, she didn't have to go to school.
"I did enjoy talking to girls my own age. And the uniforms. Plus some of the classes were really cool. Like art class. Watercolors are soooo pretty." She says happily while walking into the cafe before it dawned on her. "I should have probably slowed down. He isn't even here yet." With that she chuckled to herself then went to the counter and got a bought a large snickerdoodle cookie and hot chocolate."Thank you~" Abe chimed before sitting at a free table with her things. She swung her legs back and forth childishly while taking little bites of her cookie to savor it.

Rin woke up to the loud noise of her alarm clock. She groaned slamming it before sitting up and getting out her bed. She walked to her small bathroom in her apartment then turned on the water to the shower. While she was waiting for the water she tinkled then brushed her teeth. Once the water was warm enough she took off her pjs then hopped in the shower and started cleaning her body. She was still tired but she needed to get out her apartment. She got out the shower a few minutes later before drying off and heading to her closet to pick out something to wear. She found something throwing it on before putting her shoes on and grabs her keys, phone wallet and skateboard before leaving her apartment. She let the cool breeze hit her face and inhaled before sighing and walked down the stairs hopping on her board then rides off down the street to the cafe'shop.

Keko was still getting over the fact she had some sort of powers. One moment she was getting mugged, the next minute she has thrown the man against the wall without moving anything but her hand. That wasn't even the worse part. Walking home that day she started getting chased by this organization called E.B.E.P. Keko was still so confused.

Keko woke up at the crack of dawn. She managed to convince a cafe owner she was just a little girl who was lost and asked to stay the night. Th owner was skeptic at first but allowed her to stay in the room above the cafe. Keko was quick to take a shower and get dressed. She was no cleaning the cafe as the owner sat in her office. The baristas in the shop were kind of distant from Keko. The owner was allowing her to sleep there for as long as she needed as long as she pulled her weight around the cafe. It wasn't an official job. She wasn't getting paid and she could leave at any time.

Keko Fixed her apron and her pig tails before walking over to the table, wiping them with her cloth. She walked over to a table with another female with pink hair. She had a vibe to her.

"Excuse me." The tiny girl squeaked, pulling out a napkin from her apron pocket. She wiped the crumbs off the table before laying down the napkin to pick up the fallen crumbs. "You were making a mess." She pursed her lips looking away blushing. Once again the interaction caused her to get flustered. She turned on her heels, heading back over to another table to wipe. The pink haired girl's presence still bothered her slightly.

"Excuse me," A voice squeaked next to her, so Abe shifted her gaze over to the girl who had spoke up with the cookie still held in her hands. Thus she resembled a squirrel caught mid-meal with how her seafoam eyes stared at the tinier girl speak to her like a lost puppy. Though she slowly placed her cookie down on the napkin with her eyes still trained on adorable girl who was flustered. The moment Keko turned around, the poor girl, had two arms wrap around her in a bone crushing hug. "You're so cuuuuuttttteeee~" Abe sang while hugging the smaller girl to her. "How can someone be so cute and adorable? I just want to hug you and never let go. But you have to work, it isn't fair. " The pink haired attacker/hugger says while letting go of Keko with a sigh.

"I'm sorry for keeping you from your work, but you are too cute. I wish I could look as cute as you. "
Her hands laced together on her lap as her tone became more bashful. While she didn't regret hugging the adorable waitress, she still knew that was not common behavior. Tucking some of her long pink strands behind her ear, she smiled down at the cookie sitting on top of the napkin the girl had put down. "Thank you for the napkin, I'll try not to be messy again. This cookie is really good though, I guess I got carried away. I wonder if the cakes are as good. I should try them later.. Do you have any preference of cake that you like? Or are you a cookie girl? Oh, could you be a cookie cake girl. That's really the best of both worlds, because it's a cookie and a cake. Though if people don't like sweets they may not like them very much, but maybe that's the only sweet food they can eat. Unless they are allergic to flour, butter, or eggs. That would really suck because then they can't eat a lot of things. Breakfast must be really be horrible for them because those three ingredients make up most breakfast foods." And there Abe goes, rambling on changing topics just to talk. Well she was also really curious about it too, but it was more because she has no filter.

Rin finally made it to the cafe and entered taking off her headphones. She got off her board and entered the back break room of the cafe. She came back out a few minutes later with an apron around her waist. She went over to her station and looked at Keko. "Morning Keko...I woulkd advice you to not talk with the customers...or let them touch and hug you..." She tells her a small smirk on her face. She looked at the monitor that had the orders of the customers and started making the first customers drink that had popped up on the monitor. 'A mocha frappe with whipped cream along with chocolate and caramel drizzel...easy'. Rin shrugged and started making the drink.

She finished the first one and started on the second one. She handed the customer their drink along with a blueberry muffin then got started on the drinks that needed to be given to people who were sitting down. She finished the last drink then put it on the tray and looked at Keko.
"Keko...enough talking start working..." She tells her before going back to taking orders and making drinks for the customers. She liked the job and it paid well but she wanted something more...excited in her life. Hopefully it will come soon.

Clove was just about to exit the motel when suddenly a door opened and she ran straight into a dark haired guy. (@Sugar ) After making contact with his back and nearly falling over on top of the fella, Clove grabbed onto the wall and saved herself from a good moment or two of awkwardness. She steadied herself by putting one hand against the wall, but wasn't about to let this guy off the hook. "Damn, you know, you have two eyes for a reason. Maybe you should start using them." Her voice reeked of sass and annoyance. Narrowing her eyes, Clove sighed loudly after doing a quick look at the boy. He didn't look like a secret agent who was out to murder anyone of her kind, so she was safe spending a few extra moments here.

A text arrived at his cellphone, he quickly put it back in his pocket. Gareki ran trough the stairs, pushing everyone outside, suddenly stopping and going slower. Then, a red haired girl bashed in him. "Damn, you know, you have two eyes for a reason. Maybe you should start using them." she said, he stood in confusion, furrowing his eyebrows. Then, he noticed it, the girl had glowing eyes, orange ones. ''You're a parsyte host. I am one too.'' he said, rapidly after he noticed it. ''We have to go, E.B.E.P is coming soon, they're looking for me, I have to meet this guy in this café. Follow me, please, I'm one of you.'' another time he said, he hoped for the girl to leave her ego behind and notice what was happening, if they didn't stick together they might wake up dead by tommorrow, and he didn't like playing russian roulette with the lives of others.

Then, he saw them. The E.B.E.P, they were approaching them directly. Gareki hesistated, he reached for the sunglasses he had, that eliminated most of the glow of the eyes, but, they weren't there.
''What do we do?!'' he shouted-whispered, nervous.

The girl barely had time to throw in another sarcastic comment before this guy had discovered something that she so desperately wanted to keep hidden. "What the hell? How did you...." He obviously wasn't interested in answering her question because he kept on talking, right over her. Clove did a mental facepalm and felt momentarily stupid. Of course, her eyes gave it away. Stupid, stupid. She had totally forgotten to swipe a pair of shades from the store last night.

And then the agents showed up. From the distance they were at, they most likely wouldn't have been to see their eyes, but Clove wasn't about to take any chances. If they got any closer, they would be able to see their eyes clearly. Think, Clove, think. How to look casual and non-suspicious while closing your eyes while making an adult feel uncomfortable. Oh. Got it.

Not allowing the boy to react, Clove grabbed the sides of his cheeks and pulled his face towards hers. She was careful to place her thumbs over his lips and then in one swift moment pressed her head close to his and her lips onto her thumbs while closing her eyes.

From the agent's point of view, they'd just look like a disgusting couple displaying a little too much PDA. Usually that bugged adults enough to get them to leave the two alone, or at least that was the plan anyway.

I see you did a Black Widow and Captain America move xD )

Caleb let out a small yawn as he stretched his arms out in front of them and held the position for a moment. The boy took his time, not really in any rush- it's not like he had anywhere to go. He had spent the night under the stars, more like under some bushes, but he wasn't going to complain. Sleeping outside was free, and was pretty in-tune with nature as of late. All the same, Caleb hoped he wouldn't have to live like this forever. His feet would not follow their normal path to school; those days were over, and he wasn't sure he knew how to find his way back to where he came from anyways.

"Hm, I wonder if there's any place in town to get a bite to eat,"
he said aloud. "There's a cafe not too far from here," a squirrel replied. Caleb jumped, whirling around to face the creature that was calmly preening its tail on the seat of a nearby bench. Caleb let out a breath. He wasn't sure if would ever get used to this communication with animals thing. "Um...thanks," he said to the squirrel. He really didn't think anyone was listening, but it was clear that whatever happened to him had changed a lot. "And kid- clean yourself up, you look like crap." Caleb was taken aback by the squirrel's unabashed statement, but nodded in acknowledgement before brushing the dirt from has pants and pulling a few leaves from his hair. There were no convenient mirrors for him to check his appearance, but he figured that after several minutes of brushing off dirt and leaves from his frame, it probably wasn't going to get any better.

The boy cautiously made his way toward man-made buildings and left the peaceful park behind him. Once he cleared the trees, he felt a gust of wind and smelled something delicious- cakes, was it? Caleb started to wander toward the scent but stopped outside the cafe to stare in through the window, his gaze locking on a few select people sitting inside. Something about this place suddenly made him uneasy.

((Sorry, my first posts tend to be long- the rest will be shorter.))

(( Guys, this is casual, so, 4 lines each post is fine ^^, love that classic cop trick Shattered xD ))

Jonathan couldn't think of anything. They were only two E.B.E.P so it could be an easy kill. He reached down for his pants, grab his gun, then, the girl did something straight out of an undercover cop movie. Their lips were almost touching, and that made him near blush. Jonathan really didn't have any emotions, so, he couldn't process what was going on. A special feeling, but, she only did it to not die, he couldn't get too excited. He went with the current, and grabbed her hips, bringing her closer, yet doing his best to not slip his mouth pass the tongue. The cops looked at then, then entered the motel, talking in the radio. ''E.B.E.P unit 3 reporting here, no sign of the Wolf, might've runned away. Our signals also showed Mascarade was here, yet no sign. Checking the perimeter for any signal of property destruction or vandalizing by the beings.''

They left, and he was still grabbing her hips, god knows why. He was just waiting for the right moment to pop them, yet, he couldn't right now. He slowly reached for the gun in his pants, decidiing to shoot or not.

Keko was wiping another table when she felt two arms around her. The girl squealed, feeling her body being crush. She squirmed around twisting in the arms as the girl called her cute and adorable. "I'm not purposely letting her touch me Rinnnnn." She looked over at the pink girl's face. "Geez you're strong." She mumbled, finally able to breath when the girl let go. Keko backed away slightly, watching the girls face. She was about to walk away when she realized something. Her eyes. Keko stared at the happy girl as she rambled on. She was only partially listening. Her thought were mainly focused on the fact that this eye was a host. How could she bee so stupid and not realize it sooner. She was surprised really. The only other host she knew was Rin but now she was talking to another one. She was brought back to reality when she heard Rin scolding her again. She turned her head, looking at Rin with an emotionless face

"I'm sorry... Just, uh, Nevermind." She turned again to go wipe off another table that customers just left when she looked back at the pink haired girl. She lifted her hand slightly, looking back and forth to make sure the coast was clear. With that she snapped her hand shut quickly, causing the cookie to crumble in the girls hands. She looked at the girl in the eyes, giving a small smirk. "I'm more of a brownie girl." She laughed little, her soft voice not carrying very far. She then went across the room again, wiping another table. She knew she probably shouldn't have done that. That she could have just given away three host locations if anyone had saw her.

((Sorry. Habit. They'll get shorter as time goes on))

At first, the pink haired girl only stared at the crumbs that was her cookie. After a few seconds she began to sniffle saying, "My cookie.." Not a second later she had tears escaping the sides of her eyes. She continued to softly cry at the loss of her cookie as she folded the napkin that had its crumb remnants like it was a cookie burial. "It was such a good cookie and I didn't get to eat all of you. That's all you wanted in life, to be a tasty cookie to the person who bought you. Bring them joy and happiness to their taste buds and tummy." Abe sniffled while grabbing her hot chocolate and taking of the lid. "I can't eat you now, but I will try to drink you within my hot coco." She says determined, pouring the crumbs into the hot chocolate and using a stirrer to mix it before putting the lid back on. Taking a moment to wipe her eyes, she then took a sip of her mixture drink before smiline. "This tastes pretty good with the cookie crumbs in it." Abe however missed Keko and her statement about being a brownie girl, though she did notice the boy staring into the cafe from outside that looked like he had a rough night.

(( I'll shorten them as we continue, I'm trying to find a good balance between dialogue and actions with Abe right now.))

Rin was handing the customer their drink when she saw Keko used her powers to make the cookie crumble in the girls hand. "I'm more of a brownie girl." She heard Keko say then sighed. She "Keko...can I talk to you in the back for a sec please..." She said to her then saw there were no customers and walked to the break room. She sighed pinching the bridge of her nose. She knew Keko was a host and she knew she was not suppose to use her powers in public for fear of getting caught and arrested. She just waited until she entered the break room.

@Halcyon

Keko wiped the table and moved onto another one. Once that one was finished she placed the rag back behind the counter and grabbed the broom. How ever before she could start sweeping Rin called her out. Keko pouted slightly knowing that she was sbout to get scold. "Yes Rin." She replied in a monotone voice. She then placed the broom back, walking into the back room. She hopped onto the counter, sitting and letting her legs swing. She had a habit of sitting on small things to make herself appear taller.

"In my defense Rin. She touched me. And called me adorable. Plus she's a host too." Keko groaned, complaining slightly as she leaned back.

@Stoked911

Caleb made an attempt to flatten some of his stray hair as he noticed his reflection. Ugh, it was useless. That's when he noticed the pink-haired girl looking back at him. Her eyes seemed to glow, he realized. Yet part of him was skeptical, and he reasoned that it could just be a reflection. Caleb shifted uneasily but found himself reaching for the door anyways. He entered the cafe quietly, moving slowly toward the counter. The boy felt his stomach grumble the longer he spent in the cafe. He glanced at the menu, utterly lost in what seemed like a sea of decisions although the task really should not have been so overwhelming. "Do you come here often? I don't really know what I should get..." he asked Abe quietly.

@StoryTellerofTales

Rin crossed her arms looking at Keko. "In my defense Rin. She touched me. And called me adorable. Plus she's a host too." Keko said to her with a groan. Her eyes squinted a little when Keko said that the customer was a host. "So there's another host in here..." She mumbled then sighed "I want you to go out there and bring her in here...we can't let her go blabbering about how she's a host...that will make the E.B.E.P come after us and if that happens we're dead..." She tell Keko. "Now go and bring her here and don't cause a scene please..." Rin told her before taking off her apron and sitting on the break room lounge.

@Halcyon

Abe laughed a little while rubbing the back of her head sheepishly. "Ah, no. It's actually the first time I've been here. Though I did have one of the large cookies and they are really good. Like heaven, but that might just be me. Oh, the hot chocolate is good too. " She answered cheerfully with a large smile when she talked about the cookies and hot chocolate. Nibbling on her lower lip, she thought a little as to what to recommend besides what she already had. The boy before her might not like sweets, so she wanted to give him another option. "Well, so far everything I've had here has been really good, so I don't think it'll matter what you pick if you don't want sweets." With that she finally got a good look at him and noticed that his eyes were glowing a bit which labeled him a host, but she kept that to herself for now.

@MidnightAnew

Keko kept swinging her legs, looking around the backroom. She listened carefully as Rin gave her clear instructions. The girl looked at Rin with wide eyes when she said something about making a scene. She looked away again, blushing and giving a pout. "I dont make scenes." She mumbled jumping off the counter. She smoothed out her apron and headed towards the girls table. There was another person there now and Keko was going through ideas of how to get her away without her companion questioning it. Keko walked over to the table and looked at the girl, flustered.

"Uh. I'm sorry about your cookie. There's anyone one in the back that we made for it if you'd like it." She explained, forcing a small smile on her face. She then looked over at the boy and her face fell.

"This place is a E.B.E.P gold mine." She whispered to herself staring at the boy. She then reached out and grabbed both of their wrist, pulling them towards the back room. She ignored any and all protest and pushed them into the back room closing the door. She then held up her hand, manipulating the air around her and pushing a fridge in front of the door, sealing it.

"There was another one Rin. My job is done. I think i'm going to sleep now." She decided hopping up on the counter. She curled her body up into the fetal position and closed her eyes.

"I'm still listening. I... Im just resting my eyes." She whispered, smacking her lips slightly.

@Stoked911 @MidnightAnew @StoryTellerofTales

Rin opened her eyes then saw another person including the girl that was hugging then eyes widened when there was a male. "What the hell another one?!" She growled then took deep breathes before looking at them. "My name is Rin Takeru and that girl that just pulled you in here her name is Keko...we know that you two are hosts..." She says to them. "Before I start giving out information...what are you two names and don't be scared spit em out..." She said crossing her arms looking at both of them.
