Di Angelo

Name: DiAngelo, he does not tend to give his first name

Age: Most would guess him to be about 26

Expendable: Yes

Guild: The Lions of St. Mark

Profession: DiAngelo’s family holdings on the mainland earn him enough to live well within the city. He is the leader of the Lions in a rather full-time state.

Appearance: DiAngelo has never revealed his face to any of those in the Lions’ guild. His description is thus limited to this:

A tall and lithe figure with proudly-squared shoulders and a posture that boasts nobility. His hair is long and raven black, most often tied, falling to his middle back. His jawline is slender and his chin narrow and he speaks with a light and gentle voice that tells of both his youth and an appealing nature.

His appearance for Carnevale varies, for now is it a white, black and gold mask of a jester, accented with an elegant black velvet jacket and trousers set with gold trim.

Weapon of choice: Dueling sword with a black scabbard and a lion-headed hilt

00ff659700d44253f15360d3089804be.jpg

Magic specialty: Healing

Familiar or spirit: To be revealed

Personality: DiAngelo is mysterious and oftentimes quite cryptic, he delights in dodging questions and keeping people guessing. Beyond his enigmatic outer-shell he is charming, polite and ever-eloquent. He often ties this nature in with a mask of light-hearted joviality. Underneath this mask he wears for the great game he is a slightly different person:

DiAngelo tries never to reveal just how much he cares for the city of Venice and its inhabitants. He sees himself as a protector and is driven by a passion to do what is right. It is very hard to get close to the real DiAngelo. He has a firm grasp of just what his actions in leading the Lions have cost him. This is a man prepared to die for his cause. DiAngelo’s passion may be the most entrancing thing about him, but this same passion has also driven him to make difficult, oftentimes heartless calls. He regrets these deeply, but he has yet to yield to his gentler nature when the greater good is at stake. As a general rule DiAngelo will temper his character based on the person he is speaking too. A lady will always be given courtesy and a gentleman, respect. If he deems you unworthy of either his tone may be mocking or false but seldom is he outwardly rude.

DiAngelo is a fair man, good-spirited and inspired who is not afraid to do what needs to be done to keep his city safe.

Character flaws: Passion is not always a positive trait. Sometimes DiAngelo’s drive to succeed can jeopardize those closest to him. Despite being good at what he does he is inexperienced in many things and is also an idealist at heart. He is often too willing to put people in harm’s way (this includes himself) to benefit the cause.

Short background: As a boy DiAngelo grew up hearing stories of the order of knights that served Venice and her people. He envisioned a great cohort of men in gleaming armour dealing out justice to brigands and evil-doers. When he was older he enrolled in the academy, and what he saw there was not the glorious picture that had filled his dreams as a child, but a run-down and corrupt band of hired thugs, paid to do whatever work the nobles of the city could pay for. Very few individuals stuck to the old code. The order was divided, and offered no protection to the city.

After turning away from the order DiAngelo begun a small spice trading business which grew quickly. During this time an attempt on his life plunged him into the underside of his city. He saw a cruel game, deceptive and deadly in which few clever, wealthy individuals were slowly working their way to tearing down his beloved Venice.

With the money from spice trading he purchased the apartments used as the headquarters for the Lions. From there, he began to recruit.

The order truly began after DiAngelo found a swords master who taught him fencing. Not the flowery swordplay of the nobles, but the fierce, practical combat of a real fighter. This man also schooled him in the ways of familiar summoning and basic healing. The master’s previous profession you see, was an assassin. One of the best in Venice. DiAngelo begged the man to teach him the art and eventually, after much resistance the old man agreed.

It was on a dark, moonless night that DiAngelo, after founding the Lions of St Mark went to visit his old teacher only to find the man slumped over his desk, a dagger in his heart.

DiAngelo swore he would find his master’s killer and though the Lions are his most important task, he is still searching for the murderer, waiting for his chance at revenge.

Teshionero

Name: Teshionero, his only gives his real name to his closest allies

Age: 24

Guild: The Death’s Hand

Profession: Teshio runs a small apothecary under the false name Alonzo Vitale.

Appearance: Teshio generally only removes his mask in the Death’s Hand base. He is fair-haired and blue-eyed and most would call him elegantly handsome. As a carnevale costume he appears as a plague doctor, the long-nosed bird mask an ominous sign to any of Venice at that time.

8ef5b616552b1b29251d374336ec975e.jpg

Teshio.jpg

Weapon of choice: Miniaturized cross bow that folds on top of one arm. The darts can be tipped with a variety of poisons.

Magic specialty: Shadowed stealth

Familiar or spirit: To be revealed

Personality: Teshio as the chemist Alonzo is shy and reserved, and would never dream of acting beyond his humble station. As head of the Hand however he is confident, cool-tempered and carries all the compassion of a steel blade. Teshio’s outlook on human life is one of efficiency, the removal of life is an ends to a means. For his more disliked personages he may take mild pleasure in causing them pain or misfortune. To Teshio, there is no blood price too high to bring down the Lions. That being said he does not spend his guild-members’ lives or talents wastefully. Teshio has a knack for planning and will always strive to minimize loss to his organization. Alternatively he will often try to manipulate others outside the guild to do his dirty work for him. On a more personal level Teshio enjoys friendly competition and can almost be playful at times. The look in his eyes will always reflect the calculating gaze of a predator, a wolf and no matter how pleasant he is to you, it will always be difficult to ignore that.

Character flaws: Teshio is very difficult to anger, one of the few ways is to bring up the successes of the Lions of St Mark. His hatred for the rival guild is no secret and because of this hatred he may be more easily manipulated at times.

Short background: Teshio’s family immigrated to the city of Venice when he was a boy just stepping into manhood. He was a promising scholar and was studying to go into medicine like his father. The corruption in the lower end of the city where their family kept their small practice was very apparent. Teshio from that age was given example after example of how the nobles abused their power and fed misfortune to all underneath it. Teshio found he hated the unfairness, but more than that he hated his own powerlessness. One silent morning the city guards came for his father. A noble he had treated not a week before had taken offense to something the man had said. Teshio’s father was tried for poisoning a rivalling noble. He was executed three days after. Outraged by the fact that his family had been dragged into an upper-class rivalry Teshio began studying poisons. He grew distant from his mother and younger sister and finally broke away from them altogether, arranging his own practice and a small apartment elsewhere. Not long after that the noble that had accused his father was found dead. Cause unknown. Teshio walked away from that house with confidence. He had had a taste of a new power, and he liked it. From there Teshio took instruction on combat of many styles from the pirates and less-desirable traders that came to the Venetian port. He improved his poison-making skills and struck at rich families when he fancied, sending some of the more powerful households into the ground. He was eventually approached by the leader of an assassin’s guild called the Death’s Head. There he found his true niche and rose through the ranks as a top-ranking assassin. His surgical efficiency and his disregard for innocent life helped him in his success, despite his methods being criticized by some of the more righteous members of the guild. Teshio became aware of the Lions of St Mark shortly after its founding. The head of this guild, one DiAngelo successfully assassinated the leader of the Death’s Head. Teshio wasted no time in taking the opportunity, eradicating the three most senior members of his guild who had grown complacent in the idea that they would inherit leadership. Teshio took power and changed the name to a more fitting one: The Death’s Hand. For a head, cannot do much but talk, it is the hand that drives the dagger home.

PERSONAL

Personality

Emilia is a merciless assassin, who'll use any number of means to kill a target. Be it seduction or sacrifice, Emilia has nearly no limits to what she will do for it, but she draws the line at children. Her ruthlessness has earned her a name among the guild and the streets, the
Queen of Hearts. It's a rather fitting name, considering her favourite way to kill someone by stabbing them through the heart. However, she prides herself in being ladylike and elegant. When she's not hunting, she's dressed in fancy garments of all wealth. Emilia must look pretty at all times, even dressed in black, she still makes sure that her face has been properly powdered, or her hair made up into a high, neat, ponytail. Usually, she has a classy, mildly snobbish but generally humorous attitude. She'll make it obvious she hates you, but not if she likes you.

Character Flaw

Emilia is very superficial, and has virtually no qualms or morals when it comes to killing.

Short Background

Born in Paris, France, Emilia was abandoned on the streets with no food or money at the age of 5. She learnt to steal from the rich nobles that passed by, and lived off stolen coins and food. It was then she learnt to throw daggers. One day, she was caught in the act of trying to pickpocket an Italian merchant. He took pity on her, and took her in as his child. The merchant had no children nor wife, and Emilia soon became the light of his life, and he took her back to Italy with her. Emilia was raised in comfort, though the memory of the harsh streets of Paris was still carved deep in her memory.

Emilia grew up to be a fine young woman, educated and sought after by many. She learnt to sew from some of the maids in the Acerbi estate, and found it to be her passion to design and make dresses. She fell in love with a young man and was set to be married the coming February.

Everything changed when
the Fire Nation attacked her betrothed was assassinated in the middle of the night by a guild who's leader he'd unintentionally wronged. Emilia was heartbroken, and swore vengeance against the guild. Not long after, her father was struck with a disease, and died. With one tragedy after the other, Emilia devoted herself to sewing and revenge, using her father's remaining wealth to start up a shop, whilst practicing her aim at night. When she'd finally gathered enough info, she stormed their base and slaughtered a large portion of them, leaving the survivors to live in constant fear of her. She liked it that way.

Emilia was recruited shortly after by one of the higher-ups in the Death's Hand, who taught her black magic and how to use different weapons. She's been in it ever since.

Qwen

Name: Qwen

Age:24

Expandable: yes

Guild: The lions of saint Mark

Profession: English teacher (yes an English teacher. Prepare for references and such)

Appearance: She has slightly tanned skin, with a slightly round face. Her dirty blonde hair is always straightened, and sometimes pulled back into a ponytail. As a teacher she wears tight pencil skirts and button up shirts and under all of that is what would you would call a healthy body, with dark gray eyes that have seen the worst. Her carnevale mask is a simple white and silver harlequin mask

View attachment 195164

Weapon of choice: two rusty pistols that are decorated with bones

View attachment 195171

Magic specialty: alchemy

Familiar or spirit:

View attachment 195177

Personality: Her desire to teach and learn comes from being a teacher. She's very easy going and enjoys having a good time. She's a bit quirky and has a habit putting her feelings aside for that sake of others. She's a bit nerdy and likes to discover new things;you could call her one of the crazy geniuses that sometimes hunger for knowledge, but that doesn't waver her from her goals. When killing her enemies she likes to sometimes say cheesy catchphrases; she claims it comes with being an English teacher. Her morals and values are pretty high and she always wants to do good.

Character flaws: Her habit of putting her feelings aside makes her vulnerable most of the time. At the most inconvenient moments she could break down. This makes her a little sensitive. Due to her high morals and values she is quick to judge situations and sometimes others.

Short background: She was born in Austria, but moved to the U.S a few years later. At that time they lived in a small home just the two of them. One night a robber decided that her mother's expensive China could get him some cash. Her mother died protecting her and the house. She was able to escape and continued her education with out anyone knowing she was an orphan. Living on the streets taught her to mask her feelings and be suspicious of everything. She eventually made into college, but her mother's killers were still in the back of her head. After completing college (her education is important to her) she vowed that upon finding her mother's killers, she'll show no mercy. She is a teacher by day and a killer by night.

Violet D'Gnaara

Name: Violet D'Gnaara

Age: 23

Expendable: Yes

Guild: The Lions of St. Mark

Profession: Violet works as a tailor who makes exquisite costumes and took up gardening as a hobby.

Appearance:

172d4e014aa1d415d7d671f23198e849.jpg

Weapon of choice: Violet likes to use her daggers when she is at work but her favorite weapons are her small, deadly poison tipped needles which she can throw almost undetected, piercing the skin of her victims easily, making the paralytic poison on their tip do the dirty work

Magic specialty: Illusion and Mysticism

Familiar or spirit: To be revealed

Personality: Violet is a steady plodder, she always plans her assassinations and works flawlessly, perfecting every strategy she can to fulfill her missions. Cold logic and precise strikes aid the determined girl to escape and win in every situation and thanks to her fast thinking she is one of the few assassins who were never seen in the same costume twice - like a chameleon she blends into different groups of people whenever she can.

Character flaws: Though patient Violet can hardly handle failure, especially if her plans go awry. Losing self control she can panic and make everything she achieved so far to go to waste.

Short background: Grown up in a rather poor family Violet had discovered her unparalleled skill with knives and throwing weapons, allowing her to play as a cutpurse, stealing money for her family to survive. Unlike her wayward sister she was always loyal to her mother and her father despite how ruthless and brutal they were when it came to teaching the art of shadows. She had endured her training and soon enough she had become one of the youngest assassins out there.

It was then when she was directed by her parents to join a tailoring emporium to learn an another profession other than the art of killing. Her surgical accuracy had proven to be invaluable here and she quickly became the most famous tailor in the city. Soon enough everyone were going to her shop to purchase clothes - and she used this to her advantage. Most assassins could have been recognized by their clothes, their distinct masks and the way they moved - she however decided to move the art of deception one step further. She crafted hundreds of various costumes for herself and in some she looked like a male thief, in some as a noble lady - no one could recognize her. But her blissful world was soon to be changed.

As one day she returned home she had found the house turned upside down, everything destroyed, shattered on the ground. Running to the main room she had found the horrifying sight of the mutilated corpses of her parents laying on the floor, shock on their faces. Next to their bodies laid several petals of black rose - the infamous and unmistakable signature of one she had not seen in ages, one she had thought to be her blood.

Her sister.

Consumed in rage at first she panicked and did not know what to do. Confusion, anger and fear filled her as she knew not what was her next step... but then it dawned upon her. If she was to track down her nefarious blood and avenge her parents she needed to offer her services to one of the famous assassin guilds. In the end she decided to join the The Lions of St. Mark in order to dispense justice one day - and fill her pockets in the meantime.

Rather petite but definitely not harmless, commenting on her height might land you in the infirmary for a few days if she's in a good mood.

Magic Specialty

Familiar

Arctic Fox
PERSONAL

Personality

Aura is ultimately kind and sweet, though she can change moods in the split of a second. She's stubborn and hates admitting that she's wrong, even when she knows she is. Though with her charisma, she's usually able to make the other side see her point. However, she might be quite naïve when it comes to certain things.

Character Flaw

Undying loyalty and very straight morals, Aura can be a very tough and annoying person to deal with on certain cases she feels very strongly about, and will put the safety of the people over everything else. She's also rather reckless and hotheaded at times, and has also lived quite a sheltered life without much experience.

Short Background

Beautiful, golden hair was what gave Aurelia her name, meaning "gold". She was adored by all. The youngest of 3, and the only girl, she was always her father's favourite, and that got her virtually anything she wanted. She refuses to say what her background is like, but it's evident she comes from a rich family. Aura was homeschooled from young and barely let out of the family property, leaving her to always wonder what was going on outside. Constantly subject to her mother's drilling of how to properly act, the mannerisms of a true lady, behaviour fitting of a- Oops, she almost said too much. Because of this, Aura was brought up with a little of the mentality of an elitist of sorts. She's tried hard to break it, but old habits die hard.

While she was holed up in the property, she was taught to use guns and crossbows, due to her instructor not believing in her ability to sustain the weight of a sword. Her mother never approved of this, but out of the 3 siblings, she brags that she's the best shot. She also proved her instructor wrong when she learnt to fight with the rapier.

When she turned 19, her father finally gave consent for her to go outside, but only under the cautious eye of a bodyguard. After time, she's learnt to give him the slip, and sneak out at night.

Others

Name: Catalina Paniccia

Age: 18

Expendable: Yes

Guild: None (Lamb)

Profession: Being pampered and adored

(Rich merchant's daughter)

Appearance:

venetian-carnival-moon-masks.jpg

086f73fb9f33f574d5218106d5798997.jpg

Weapon of choice: Flirtation and flattery

Magic specialty: None, unless being beautiful counts

Familiar or spirit: None

Personality:

Youth and beauty, Catalina's greatest attributes, leave little room for much else. She loves to be playful and flirty, but her father and brother usually keep a very close eye on her. That is why large celebrations, especially this one, are her very favorite. She can slip on a mask, duck into the crowd, and be free to flaunt for as long as that party lasts. Do not be mistaken- she isn't vain. But she does know that she is to be desired. Her joy in the attention is the power it gives her. With a bat of her eyes, most men would gladly escort her home, maybe buy her a gift or two..

Games of manipulation do require a clever mind, and hers is rather sharp. She has the cold, calculating mind of someone slightly older, but she lacks maturity and common sense. And her experience at manipulating people is limited to young men looking to win her favor; put up against anyone immune to her physical beauty and she drops the act as soon as it is clear she cannot win. For now, she is content to rule the hearts of many young men yet belong to none, but Catalina often forgets her games have consequences, and Daddy and Brother might not always be there to save her..

Character flaws:

Loves to push people to their limits, but has no way of defending herself if she goes to far

Quite frankly, a spoiled brat who loves to be given things and attention, feeling special and above others is her greatest joy

She has never been rejected, and probably has no idea how to deal with it

Short background:

Catalina was born to a filthy rich merchant and has one older brother. Her mother died giving birth to her, but she is a spitting image of the woman her father loved so much. It is no wonder, then, that he dotes on her the way he does. Always she has the finest clothes, most expensive perfumes, most beautiful horses, anything she wants, he finds a way to get. Her beauty, inherited from her mother, puts most young men in a similar state of mind. She loves to prey on the weakness, to her father's great displeasure.

As a young girl, she grew up the way a proper young woman should. She learned all the proper ways to behave, but now that she is older, she likes to push those boundaries. She and her brother, Marcello, are very close, and he has always protected her as her father does. But she knows both he and her father disapprove of her attitude, which makes it even more fun.

She and her brother both received letters inviting them to the grand party, and it was only with her brother that she was allowed to go. But the words of the letters entice her, and she doesn't think she will stay by her escort's side for long.

Before she went out to join the festivities, her father (provoked by her flippancy) declared that she would soon be married off to a respectable man, much to her displeasure.

But she might as well have fun while she still can..

Name: Marcello Paniccia

Age: 21

Expendable: Yes

Guild: None

Profession: Up and coming merchant

Appearance:

s-l1000.jpg

Marcello stands rather tall, with broad, strong shoulders. His frame speaks of greater strength than he actually possesses; a life of luxury means he does not have the hardened body of a laborer. His hair is a deeper brown than his sister's, but they share the same dark chocolate eyes. It is obvious from his hands that he has never seen labor, but his tanned skin would make one think he spends a lot of time in the sun.

Weapon of choice: None

Magic specialty: None

Familiar or spirit: None

Personality:

Marcello is the only balance there is to his sister Catalina. Where she is wild, full of emotion, unpredictable, and foolish, he is steady, dependable, and level-headed. It is no wonder that their father leaves him to deal with the young girl so often. Aside from controlling his sister, Marcello is a very solid, but slightly cold gentleman. It takes a lot to incite an emotional reaction from him. He is loyal to a fault to his sister, but has a hard time feeling the same way about other people. He has the same calculating mind as his sister, but chooses to apply it to his father's business. While people fascinate his sister, they don't hold much interest for him. The only people he seems to feel for are his beloved Catalina and his father. But secretly, he longs to be brought out of his lonely world by someone special. He hopes that going out with Catalina for this magical party will turn his luck around.

Character flaws:

Struggles to make emotional connections to other people

Feels listless and purposeless in life

Prone to being manipulated because of his values and loneliness (his sister's favorite victim)

Short background:

Growing up in a household with such a force as Catalina was difficult for quiet, unassuming young Marcello. At first, he hated her. He wished her foolishness would get her hurt or worse. But in time, through several close calls, he grew to understand that his sister needed protecting, from the world and from herself. When he wasn't helping his father with the business, he was watching over Catalina. He was blessed to have his mother's level head and became the rock of the family at a young age.

When they received the letters, the first caught his attention. "A nobler nature"...

The words enticed him, so he agreed to go out with Catalina. If he hadn't, she would have been kept home. But he has to see if this could be his destiny..

Proprio

Personality

Quiet and resourceful, Scipio is a realist who has an odd sense of intelligence about him that might be hard to place. He feels apathetic about his life and wishes for some way to change it, however he's not the overly ambitious type, either, and year after year kept coming up with excuses not to sneak out to the Carnivale until finally the perfect opportunity presented itself. He's a kind person with a good sense of humor who isn't used to the dark side of the world, and so might take things a little too lightheartedly without an impending sense of danger or death. Mostly because he's trained himself his whole life to resist thoughts of danger as a rebellion towards his family, giving him a ridiculously level head. The only true bitterness in his personality stems from the way his family treats him. At times he feels more like one of their precious artworks than a real son. He enjoys learning all sorts of things and practices alongside even the servants to pass the time, making him more friendly with many of them than his brothers, and giving him knowledge about all manner of seemingly useless facts and tasks. Because of his endless free time, he's also quite well-read and considers himself capable and independent. A "go with the flow" type of person, he has a surprising level of resourcefulness in a pinch.

Character Flaws

- Too trusting of others. While he's not so hopeless that he'd immediately invite over a complete stranger, he's the type who'd never suspect a friend or predict a betrayal.

- Feels like he has to prove himself so apt to overdo things (even though he's in a stable condition his stamina is not so great and he might pass out if he really overworks himself...).

- Is so desperate to break the "sheltered noble" trope that he falls right back into it.

Background

The Passerini family has been known in Venice for generations. Though they have noble patrician roots, their real fortune was made through founding a print shop during Italy's "printing golden age," becoming more well-known as cittadini originari (wealthy merchants) than as respected nobles. Throughout the Renaissance they worked to develop a more cultured image of themselves by being great patrons of the arts, eventually winning social recognition and at last climbing their way back up into the more established nobility through marriage.

Nowadays, however, the family has fallen somewhat into decline, with the current patriarch choosing to sponsor and support a number of unpopular campaigns abroad through his work in the Venetian Republic. There are also rumors of his wife's corruption in her charity drives. Public dissent against the Passerinis, added to a heightened awareness of danger with whispered rumors of assassin guilds nesting in Venice, have made the family rather fearful for themselves and something of self-victimizers.

Then Scipio was born. Just one of many brothers (his mother determined to have herself a daughter despite continuously turning out sons), Scipio might have lead an inconspicuous life if it were not for two things: His rumored beauty and ill health. Born with a weak heart and hemophilia (unluckily the only one in his generation to inherit the disease), he was weak and sickly as a child to the point where many suspected he would not live. He pulled through because of his family's constant care, and so they became accustomed to keeping a close eye over him, even after he seemingly outgrew his disease (he still have to be very conscious of getting cuts and bruises). Although the other Passerinis aren't particularly noted for their attractiveness, Scipio stands out and there is much talk in the noble social circles about his good looks. Anyone who set eyes upon him would remark about his superior appearance, though to Scipio these compliments quickly lost their merit, beginning to feel more patronized than appreciated, like a jewel in case meant to be looked at and protected.

Hoping to use his reputation to their political advantage, his parents secured for him an engagement with a much more popular and powerful noble family at a young age. Later, when that family, too, fell into decline, and the daughter began to exhibit exceedingly strange behavior, the engagement was cut off as another family scandal. Scipio didn't particularly object, but he continued to hold a strange fascination for his one-time fiancee.

Tired of being told that it was "too dangerous" to venture outside without the constant accompaniment and fretting servants and brothers, Scipio has planned for some time to sneak out during the Carnivale to get a taste of "real" Venice. This year, one of the newer servants who is a good friend and sympathetic to his plight, helped to make this dream finally pass. Scipio's convinced that with a "hideous" mask to hide his "beautiful" features he will be, for once, left alone to do as he pleases.

Proprio

Personality

Having had little guidance in her life, as well as an overall disdain for Venetian culture, Eurlaria prides herself on being set apart. She feels as if the world has continuously denied her, and so why should she care anything for the world? Though she rarely leaves her family's dilapidated estate save for at night, she has cultivated a swarm of rumors surrounding her uncouth behavior and wild, sadistic, even grotesque, attitude. Even when in public she is apt to do outrageous things without even a hint of shame. If not for her uncle's fandangling, rumors of her insanity, and the fact that he tries to keep her from going out as much as possible, she might have been arrested for her blatant disregard of any of Venice's social rules. Her heart, having been so-long closed off to human contact, has been buried somewhere far away in the depths of her somewhat unhinged mind. Her only comfort is her pet cat Contessa, and it seems that felines are the only creatures she shows any kindness to.

Character flaws

-She posses almost no knowledge of normal (let alone 'proper') social interactions

-Something of a social paraiah

-Very little in the way of formal education...or any education, for that matter

-Her mind can be a bit one-track...if it manages to stay on track at all...

Short background

The Tornincasa family arrived in Venice one day with very little warning. Showering the city in great wealth and outstanding social engagements, no one seemed to be willing to question where they came from or how their endless money had been made. Though they claimed that they were of noble blood from a distant state, the story would alter every time someone new were to inquire. Still, the Tornincasa patriarch and matriarch were such beloved, charismatic, and good-natured people that no one wished to say an ill-word against them. The family's pride and joy was their baby daughter, Eularia.

However, it was not to last. Somehow rumors got out that the Tornincases were connected to a prominent smuggling ring, and Eularia's father was accused of piracy. He was a wanted man, and Eularia was sitting on a treasure trove of dirty money. Not wanting to disgrace their family or deprive their daughter of the good life they enjoyed in Venice, one night Eularia's parents just slipped away. Luckily the girl's "uncle" (though a true blood-relation is unlikely) was set up to take over the girl's funds, women being unable to inherit. A government official of some power, he was able to separate the innocent child from her family's bad name, and much of her wealth remained intact, even if in her uncle's care.

Despite being a fair patron, Eularia's uncle was a busy man who had appearances to keep. He allowed Eularia to remain in her family's estate, raised by a series of tutors and nannies. However, they were barely effective. Eularia was so young when her parents disappeared that she couldn't understand what had occurred. Her childlike mind remained attached to the bright lights and colorful parties, and she sought to recreate them. She became increasingly bitter over the government that had not only chased her parents away, but wouldn't even let her have control over her own estate. She began to trick and tease those sent to take care of her, her "tricks" becoming increasingly dangerous and terrifying. The girl was unmanageable, and, as time passed, her uncle stopped caring.

The only things she really felt attached to were her pet cat and her childhood playmate, Scipio Passerini. She didn't realize that soon she began to scare the boy and his family, and, again, scarcely could understand it when one day her uncle informed her that the engagement had been broken off. Eularia didn't know how to feel, other than another great injustice had been set against her. Conflicted by her feelings of childhood attachment and bitter revenge, she has caught rumor that Scipio plans to sneak out alone during the Carnivale, and she is determined to catch him.

Expendable

Yes, but she won't be easy to kill :33

Guild

The Death's Hand

Profession

Tailor

PERSONAL

Her carnevale mask is a simple white and silver harlequin mask

Personality:
Her desire to teach and learn comes from being a teacher.

She is a teacher by day and a killer by night.<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_11/1120_1.jpg.1016c3ef603f57f9b1b45dca2896c016.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="86842" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_11/1120_1.jpg.1016c3ef603f57f9b1b45dca2896c016.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

Appearance

Sweet-looking features of bright, blue eyes and golden hair, Aura was charming hearts from the moment she was born. Her hair is let down most of the time, only when she's hunting will she pull it into a messy braid. Rather petite but definitely not harmless, commenting on her height might land you in the infirmary for a few days if she's in a good mood.

Magic Specialty

Arctic Fox

PERSONAL

Constantly subject to her mother's drilling of how to properly act, the mannerisms of a true lady, behaviour fitting of a-
Oops, she almost said too much.

Expendable: Yes

Guild: None (Lamb)

Profession: Being pampered and adored

(Rich merchant's daughter)

Appearance:
venetian-carnival-moon-masks.jpg
086f73fb9f33f574d5218106d5798997.jpg

Weapon of choice:
Flirtation and flattery

Perhaps being a wolf will place her destiny into her own hands..

Appearance

Ruddy, flat faces resting on strong builds of dark olive skin seems to run in the Passerini family. However, for some reason, Scipio is different. Purportedly he takes after his great-grandmother in this regard, who was also considered exceptionally beautiful, and suffered from the same medical conditions which eventually led to her death. Scipio has a soft build, not being able to train himself or exercise for more than a few minutes at a time, and is considerably tall. His hair is soft and medium brown, and his eyes are a bright aqua-green that seem to give him a more intelligent air that he's worth. As a noble he always dresses with the upmost care in the best styles of the day, usually in rich fabrics of white, blue, silver, and gold, but nothing as flashy as the ladies prefer. He is also careful to cover up as much skin as possible (even wearing gloves) to help protect himself. His skin, while olive, is slightly lighter than the rest of his family due to lack of sun exposure. Overall he is very attractive and easily picked out in a crowd.

Proprio

Background

The Tornincasa family arrived in Venice one day with very little warning.

Name: Marcello Paniccia

Clara has a rounded, baby face, that will always be covered in white powder whenever she adorns a mask during Carnevale. Surprisingly, she has exotic brown eyes that makes others mesmerized whenever they look into them. Clara's eyes are perfect circles, much inviting, that's full of life and warmth. Her chocolate brown orbs intrigues everyone in. However, don't be fooled by her eyes, even if they do not seem cold and calculating, and are full of mystery and wonder. Wherever there is light, darkness is just around the corner. Her long, brown, curly, hair goes all the way down to her waist. She isn't exactly porcelain skinned and flawless like the nobles or rich merchants she is surrounded by. In fact, she has many different scars down her back from the abuse she had gone through and given requested missions. Not only were there scars, but on her top right shoulder, she was branded with a mark that symbolized that she was an object, or rather a tool to be owned. If one was found with such a marking, they were considered as less than a human and were used for nobles or merchant's biddings. Despite wielding weapons and working all her life, her hands are surprisingly soft and hardly rough with blisters. Her appearance can confuse others quite well, not knowing is she is of lower class or higher class. Her heart-shaped lips would either be bare or have some sort of dark shade of color lipstick. Clara's body is considered to have an athletic fit and thin figure. Despite her petite figure in stature, she's able to have enough strength to wield a compound bow and run if need be. Clara's aura radiates strength and courage, and a will that could never be broken, even if others tried to break her.

Personality:

Clara is a complex individual, always masking her true feelings. One moment, one may believe to have known who she is, but in the next moment, she could flip a switch. She is two sides of a coin. Would you meet the sides of heads? Or the sides of tails? Clara actually doesn't know who she is, what's real or what's fake. She died the same night her parents died, and now she's just a walking corpse. Where her heart used to be, now it's an empty hole. Clara is the best actress there is in the world, considering she was forced to act a certain way given in a situation. If she needed to be, she can cheerful and excited, naive and innocent. Or the total opposite, she can be angry, full of malice and deception. Or, she can fall into a role easily such as being a bar maid. Talking amicably with her customers, teasing them, being polite, and just smiling and laughing most of the night away. However, her facade can change within seconds. Clara is the type to think on her feet. Never letting anything surprise her. She's observant of her surroundings and pretty clever when making deals. Whenever she makes deals or request, she makes sure there isn't any loopholes found.

Clara is a paranoid individual, never able to let her guard down, and is always on full alert. This helps her carefully plan her plots and decisions. She's intelligent as she is brave and courageous. Clara isn't afraid to do what she wants, even if it means bending or breaking the rules. She can be a bit of a troublemaker, causing and wrecking havoc against corrupted nobles and merchants. If one had to describe Clara it would be mysterious and full of wander. Who she is, how she presents herself, and how she appears contradicts each other incredibly. She's hard to get close to as she rarely opens up to anyone. Clara doesn't understand the word "trust" and would rarely trust anyone. However, she can make others believe that she trust them, at the same time, she can pull one over them in a quick second. She can be sassy, snarky, bitter, and indifferent to others, always having a motive behind confronting someone. Clara is very observant, being able to catch on quick to her surroundings. But, Clara does have a soft spot for woman and children that are of lower class like her. She can empathize with them but is rather prejudice against the nobles and merchants. In fact, she hates them dearly, but of course, has to bite back her tongue in their presence. But, if Clara had to truly reveal herself, she would never admit, but she has a soft-heart but tough exterior. However, but that's deep, way deep down, if she were to truly think on who she is. But, because of that, she found it as a weakness and decided to throw away her sense of care and emotions, and just focused on hiding away anything left of the young girl that was Clara Faye. And all that is left of Clara Faye is a young woman that acts like a robot and obeys her request as if it was her own personal master.

Character flaws:

Clara can be on auto-pilot when it comes to missions she receives. She acts the way she needs to, to get to her goal. Clara is the epitome of a mask. Never revealing her true colors and never revealing who she really is. On her missions, she does what she needs to do, even if it's immoral and unjust.

Clara doesn't have a sense of what's right or what's wrong. She does what she needs to do and finishes it as quickly as possible. She doesn't think of the consequences. Clara is goal-oriented and will never back down from a challenge. She only picks request that would benefit her the most: which can vary between getting jewels or money, depending on what they're paying her.

She isn't a fighter of peace and she isn't a fighter to wreck peace. Clara is neutral, even fully knowing that an on-going war between two guilds is happening during the festival of Carnevale. However, if either side needed her, or if both side needed her, she wouldn't have any qualms about becoming a double gent between the two. Playing both of them like a fool, even fully knowing she may get killed. Clara is a daredevil.

Clara can be unstable, at times. Depending if something were to set or rub her off the wrong way. She has various flashbacks to her past life which causes her to have panic attacks.

Short background:

The Faye family was once a well-known noble family in France, that is, before that one fateful night. Flames and smoke arising on the property of the Faye family. Screams and horror throughout the mansion, no exit and nowhere to run. The workers such as the butlers and the maids died from that night, leaving no traces behind but ashes. The family of the Faye had fallen, from an arsonist attack, however not many knew about the assassination Lady and Lord of the House, believing they died because of the arson. Her family became the next target of one of the guilds that plagued and reigned from Venice. What was the reason for their assassination? No one knows since the person responsible left in the dark of the night. An investigation was called to figure out the source of the fire but the case was considered a dead end, since the whole house was dilapidated and burnt to crisp, and no witnesses. However, little did anyone know little Clara was the only one left alive as she escaped through the servant's quarter. She was the only witness that had seen at firsthand the murder of her parents. Little Clara had heard of these guilds during her times she and her parents had ventured into Italy during the Carnevale. Her father always warned her of the secrets lurking in Italy. And soon, all because of that one fateful night, she was once of nobility and has now-turned into a street rat at the age of 11.

She was scarred due to that night, witnessing the murder of her parents. Crimson red blood splattered on the grounds as her face was covered in her parents blood. The look of horror in her face was behind measureable as her cries were resonating through the walls of the burning room. She never knew why she was kept alive and left alone. Tears spilled down her cheeks as a blank stare adorned her face when one of the servants found her, crawled up against her dead parents bodies. The servant led her to the servants quarter, letting on her escape her fate of dying that night. Little Clara was covered in dried blood and dirt that she was behind recognizable. However, she was found in a dark alley by some rogues that called themselves bandits and pirates. They took her in their custody and sold her off as a slave, getting profit from the young girl. However, not before they branded her as a mere object and took, forever leaving a mark on her olive-skinned shoulder, as a reminder that she doesn't have free reigns of her life anymore. Finally, she was solved off to one of the corrupted Italian merchant: Lorenzo, who lived in Venice, Italy. He made sure to break her strong will, just like he did with the rest of those he enslaved and bought. However, Clara was a strong girl, never forgiving the person who caused the destruction of her home and family. She had cried out all the tears she could that night of the fire and that whole month when she was stranded, trying to survive in the world she didn't know. Her noble upbringing brought her trouble when she was in custody of the Italian merchants, since not only did she specifically belong to Lorenzo, she also had to abide by the other merchant's will. Whenever she refused to speak and obey their commands, they'd whip her, or cause any punishments to harm her into conceding. Clara went through the worst horror anyone could imagine: through torture, excruciating pain that she was on the edge of her death, and thorough punishments that should have rendered her disabled. The only thing she hung into was her anger of the world, anger at the assassins who killed her parents, and anger for the shame in her family's name.

Eventually, Clara became accustomed to life with the Italian merchants as he found favor in her the most. Lorenzo found a spark in her eyes that would allow her to become the mere tool he had been waiting for for a long time. He taught her how to ride a horse, how to speak to other nobles, merchants, and make concrete deals with them without any loopholes. Not only did he teach her mannerisms and how to ride a horse, but he taught her how to weild weapons such as a compound bow, swords, and daggers. She became an asset to him, being one of the best assassins he ever trained. Clara went with Maestro, as he told her to call him rather than Lorenzo, whenever he went on an outing to make deals such as shipping items into the city or illegally selling items. But, there were times when he was requested to assassinate someone, be it of higher , middle, or lower class. Her connections grew each time she was sent on his missions in his steed. She built a foundation within those quest. As she finished her job, Clara made sure to always leave her signature Mark: the Mark of the Butterfly.

As time passed, Mastro wasn't expecting her to rebel back after all of those years she has endured pain. In the end, Clara killed him in cold blood one night, at the age of 16. Finally free from the chains that bound her, she stepped out on her own to seek revenge on those she hated: nobles, merchants, bandits, and pirates alike. No one was safe from her vendetta. She took back the freedom she once had, so many years ago. Clara started working as a bar maid, making her way up to become the best of the best. Through her connections she made from doing the Italian merchants' biddings, she would be the one to officially receive a request on who to take down or rather pay a visit to. However, the catch was that she worked alone and followed her own rules. If she found it favorable for her she would accept, if not, she would decline it. No ands, ifs, or buts. Clara vowed a life of revenge on those who caused her downfall and to bring back her family's name.

However, on the night of Carnevale Eve, she recieved a package and a note from the two notorious guilds: The Lion of St. Mark's and Death Hand. Will she choose to join forces with one of them? Or would she choose to aid both of them, playing both of them like a violin? Clara Faye does only follow her own rules, would she get caught or would she continue her ways?

Quirks:

Clara tends to have a perfection condition: which means things would have to be organized and it neat condition for her to work in. If she sees anything out of place, it drives her up the wall. It can be an object, or it can be a person that may have had their clothes not neatly tucked in or a hat being lopsided. Either way, she freaks out when things are out of shape.

If she's ever seen nervous or frightened, she tends to fidget with the brand on her right shoulder. Although others may see it as a symbol of ownership, she sees it as a symbol that brought about her hatred and metamorphosis.
