She is a Fyrdian Noblewoman who is married to Philippe Oriflamme after her father insulted Philippe during the marriage negotiations by asking for an insanely high bride price, and pitiful dowry. Then when Philippe graciously accepted the terrible terms out of a desire to wed the woman he wanted most Lord Mallick suddenly broke off negotiations and then offered Dierdre's hand to someone else for a far more reasonable deal than Philippe was ever offered.
