Elinor was as curious about the situation as Shirley, and her own mind was equally full of unasked questions. Getting out of the mech? Taking off your helmet? Toph, are you going crazy over there? But they remained unasked. Crazy or no, Toph was the pilot on the spot, and Elinor wasn't about to second-guess her without more info.
Which was shortly incoming. Colors shifted and the thing that had been talking to Toph, without moving, suddenly became visible, like a chameleon that wanted you to see it. Elinor's eyes widened and her fingers itched for the firing controls, but she held back, even before Toph's asking her to. If this thing had meant to attack, it could've done so anytime (and after Toph's helmet was off would've been a perfect time). She shifted her weapons to point slightly away from it for appearance's sake (reaiming would take just a thought's worth of time, after all), but kept her attention on the whatever-it-was. It could still change its mind, or there could be more of them waiting in plain sight like it had done. "You say so, Muppet. Don't forget to tell it about our three boys, too."
