As Darrene began to apologize for making her uncomfortable, she shook her head, forcing herself to speak. “N-no! You didn’t...” She trailed off, taking a moment to realize how utterly awful that phrase sounded before swallowing and trying to and advance the conversation. Should she introduce herself? “My Name is Katrina... I apologize for... getting so close...” Well this was even more awkward. Could this get ANY worse?

Eshne would’ve sighed as the blind man ignored her, however when the fairy approached all excited and talking about her eyes, he gave her a smile. “Thats I guess, although you’re one of Zephyr’s.”

Speaking of the man, the way Veth turned him down caused him to sigh happily. A woman that didn’t just melt into his lap, she was perfect. “Oh darling, you’re wonderful…” He sighed under his breath, sinking into his chair.

Vis would sigh. “I am not to know, it is only best to wait and see.”

Listening to the raven-haired woman awkwardly mumble, trying to explain herself and apologize for her having invaded Darrene's personal space.
And yet the warrior did not see any reason for her even thinking she was obliged to excuse herself.

If something like this had happened just a few days ago, Darrene wouldn't even have allowed Katrina to lay a finger on her, much less reciprocated her embrace.
But Katrina had caught her in a moment of helplessness, drowning and grasping at the first thing that would offer her any comfort.
She had allowed Nox's protege to get closer to her than she had let anyone before, and Darrene did not know why her heart was beating this loudly in her chest.

Each beat of her aching heart sending more blood pooling into her face, painting her cheeks a rich red as the woman couldn't help herself but to direct her hazel gaze towards Katrina.
The dark hair framing her pale face gleaming in the warm glow of the large chamber, giving her an almost halo-like, angelic glimmer.

A sight that made Darrene swiftly turn away with widened eyes, raising the large mug back to her lips as she tried casting away those thoughts with the soothingly cool liquor.
Putting the mug back on the table with a loud thud as Darrene turned her attention back to Katrina, this time her lips allowed themselves the faintest of smiles, yet the most genuine she had ever produced in the past years of vigorously following her faith's calling.

"There's no need to apologize...Katrina." Darrene's tongue weighing every syllable of her name as she felt the pit in her heart fill with an odd sensation.
Like a candle in vast darkness, gentle and warm, yet frail and weak, needing to be tended to.

"If anyone was in need of excusing themselves, it would be me. How rude of me to not introduce myself." The warrior remarked with a deep breath, straightening up as she rose to her full height.
Her gloved hand coming to rest on her chest as she spoke.
"I am Darrene of the city state Arsensias. Commander of the city's guardians and defender of the F...Of the people." The once highly religious warrior spoke, her face darkening for a brief moment as she corrected herself.
Not knowing why she no longer took pride in the strict set of rules that had shaped her up to be such a renowned warrior...

"Thank you once again, Katrina. You did not have to comfort me, yet I do feel unable to deny that it...helped." Darrene mumbled, raising her glass to take yet another sip, trying her hardest to keep herself from staring at the dark-haired woman.
For something started to fester in her heart, something she did not fully comprehend, and something she had feared for years, denied its existence and tried keeping herself from even thinking about it.
And yet, with her faith shattered, with her mind trying to piece everything back together, her heart was allowed free reign...

After everyone had finished eating, introducing themselves, conversing and so on, Vis would’ve stood and gathered everyone’s attention before speaking. “Now that everyone has eaten, please follow me to your room. There you can continue conversations and rest until we rejoin tomorrow.” With that he would stand, moving to the massive door.

Katrina was about to go with Darrene when a look from Delta told her otherwise. “I have to go.... Nice to meet you. “ She would respond softly, unable to keep a smile off of her face as she left the human’s side. “Yes, Aunt Delta?” The woman gestured to the mess of a table. “You are to clean this up.” These words rung in her ears, eyes wide. She couldn’t be serious, it would take hours to clean by hand. Eshne had taken notice of this, wandering towards them as the last of the Wyrmchildren were lead out, she got her own disheartened look. “Are you seriously making her do all this alone?” Delta shrugged. “It is better than letting her be tempted to be friendly with the mortals, like I had already seen her doing.” Kat shied away from the goddess’ gaze. “I will take care of it.” “And I will help.” Eshne chimed in, getting a disapproving gaze from her elder sister which she quickly returned.

Soon after Delta had left herself, leaving the two alone, Katrina faced Eshne. “You don’t have to-” But she was dismissed with a shake of her head. “Before you came along, I was the one being made to do everything as the youngest around here. I know how it feels and it's the least I can do.” With a smile Kat nodded. “Thank you… where are we going to begin?” Examining the mess, Eshne sighed. “Well, the table, utensils and basically anything that isn’t food is enchanted to last, so I could burn it all off and we just need to stack dishes and store them away.” Glancing over towards the younger woman, she realised she wasn’t getting a response due to how pale her skin had become, face twisted into a look of discomfort. “Kat…?” The goddess of war asked before lunging forward as she began to collapse, catching her and easing her to the floor. “Ah shit… glad I stayed…” She mumbled, magical energy pouring off of Katrina in waves.

The woman in question was absolutely consumed with pain, barely registering that she was now lying with a concerned Eshne leaning over her. It was once again centered in her skin, something forcing its way out once more with a new vigor. It felt like an eternity before it finally began to subside, the goddess leaning over her dragging her out of her distortion. “Katrina.” Eshne said once more, getting a grimace in response. Slowly she sat up with a bit of assistance, Kat once again pulling up her sleeves to see that the inside of both forearms were now coated in scales, it now appeared to also be wrapping around her wrists.

Vis had brought the group down a set of stairs through another hall, arriving at a large room. Inside along the back were rows of cots with a corner shrouded by shades with what looked to be the silhouette of a basin behind it. There was also a table with pitchers of various drinks, snacks that couldn’t spoil as readily, and other assorted things. The rest wasn’t all that furnished, aside from the braisers high on the walls that were lighting the area. After wishing them well, the doors shutting behind him, he would’ve returned to the common area to see how Katrina was fairing.

As he stepped inside, he immediately began to walk over when he saw Eshne sitting beside her on the floor. He was about to ask what had happened when he saw the scales that had formed. “Come, let’s get you to your room.” The man sighed, helping her stand and out the door.

Within the large room where the wyrmchildren were supposed to stay, things were relatively normal, as normal as things could be in such a situation, but it wasn’t going to be that way for long.

A few hours had passed by now with everyone settling in. However soon the door would’ve opened with Eshne walking in, moving to each of those descended from her and asking if they would join her. If asked for an explanation she would simply smile. “Its time.”

Ki'Tavi didn't even really flinch as the cold metal pressed against his naval. If anything, he just had a playful smile on his features as she questioned him that didn't falter even as she slowly moved the dagger higher to his ribs. He knew better. If she had any intention of actually attacking him, this would have already turned into a fight.

Though, he did jump just a little when she grabbed his tail, glancing over his shoulder to where her hand maintained a firm grasp on it before turning his gaze back to her as she threatened him. Lopping off his tail? Now that was just mean, if she'd actually do it. He blinked as, in one fluid motion she swept him off her lap. Twisting his body as he fell, he managed to get his feet under him, landing in a crouched position as he looked up at her with the same playful grin.

"Honestly, I wouldn't know what's customary. I haven't exactly spent all that much time around my own kind to find out." He shrugged his shoulders before taking another bite of the turkey leg he still held. Standing upright, he elected to lean on the table instead, since her lap seemed to be off-limits for the time being.

She most certainly was a dangerous woman. That, of course, just made him all the more curious about her, which was made readily evident by the way his tail swished side to side as he watched her.

His ears turned when Vis addressed the group. It seemed that they were being moved to their sleeping quarters for now. Given he was used to sleeping on the ground when he was with the Legion, he wasn't exactly picky about accommodations. Thus, he didn't make any fuss when he found out that, in this massive castle, all they had for themselves were simple cots.

As far as he was concerned, it was still an improvement over sleeping on the floor. Though, he was slightly surprised that the women and men were all lumped in the same room. Not that he was complaining, mind you, just that it seemed a bit strange. Oh well, he could worry about social conventions later.

For the next few hours, he spent his time conversing with the others. He did try to find out more about Veth, but it seemed she wasn't too inclined to open up all that much, so he contented himself with going back to being an observer, ears alert and listening to the conversations around him to see how much he could learn about the others gathered. A habit of his was to always gather information, no matter where he was. He'd have more opportunities to find out more about the mysterious elf-girl later.

When the door opened up, his eyes turned towards the door even as his ears twitched on his head to follow the various conversations. It seemed the woman who had turned into a dragon before was looking for those who were her own descendants. It was odd to think about, given she didn't really look any older than him. She was actually pretty damn attractive, now that he got a better look at her. His eyes followed her as she asked the same question of certain individuals.

His eyebrows raised curiously when she stopped in front of him though. She was asking him to join her too? He tried to ask why, but the only response he got was "It's time."

Time? Time for what? The severe lack of answers was growing increasingly irritating, but it seemed he might at least get one or two if he elected to follow her.

"Lead on then..." He purred. Turning his head, he gave a farewell nod to those he had been conversing with before following the strange dragon girl.

Hopefully now he'd get some damn answers.

The day was winding down it seemed. Having been sent to their room like children, it seemed they were being left to their own devices...Midas didnt like it, not one bit.

So, to recap today, a god, the god that created everything, had called for the decendants of him and his children to meet, and from what he had gathered, none of them had any idea. Well, none but the Girl. He needed to talk to her, To thank her atleast. He would be dead if she hadnt stepped in...

They said something about the blood awakening...what did that mean? If he had any guesses, it would be their "godly heritage" showing itself. How would such things appear? A glance at his palm made him shudder. Who knows...

Rolling his bad knuckles, he sighed, looking about the room, and it pissed him off. Why did nobody care?! Why was he the only one worried? He had heard himself called a fool, an idiot. Someone made a comment on his mouth, but if he was an idiot, what did that make them? They didnt seem to worry. They seemed to feel safe here, to feel welcomed. They were bonding rather quickly. What had that woman said, Veth? Accusing him of posturing? They were being forced to work under the threat of their own lives! If anyone can feel happy about that, then they are delusional!

Midas had seen it. Control through fear, and control through deciet. He knew witch was worse. If you fear, you atleast know your in danger, but being controlled by false security, feeling safe as you stand in the noose...these people were asking to die, and nobody seemed to care!

Why did this piss him off so much?! He didnt know anyone here! And none of them seem to think their in danger... Was he overreacting? Looking over, he saw several getting along. Even the children of that...of Nox were...kind. It seemed like, maybe, he was seeing things in the wrong light.

Looking at his long worn knuckles, Midas sighed, closing his eyes as his hand fell. Right. Even if all that were true, If he was wrong, or they were safe...it wasnt in him to let go. If nobody else believed him, tough. He would be ready for the day Nox is done with them...if they were to die, He was giing to leave Nox with one hell of a present first.

After a short time,a new voice entered tbe room. Rousing his eyes from their rest, Midas let his gaze shift to the woman. The first she came to was the cat, Kit, if he remembered corrrectly, actually asked why. Atleast someone was asking questions. He didnt get much of an answer, but it gave Midas some kind of hope for them.

When she stopped at him, he didnt say a word. He gave the woman a glare, before standing, his hands finding his pockets. He wasnt going to get anymore than the cat had, so no point in angering her. Probably has a bad opinion of him already, anyhow...

Darrene would have slowly rose from her seat as the reptilian-eyed man spoke, directing them towards the chambers they would be spending the next few hours in. The warrior feeling something else slowly start to replace the once burning driving force of her faith, a strange new sensation slowly taking hold in her, a candle lit by Katrina's act of kindness.

A curiosity, a hopeful outlook on what fate had in store for her. She still felt like a fish out of water, the numbing waters of religious faith and vigorously condition being taken away from her, and still she was adjusting to living without such a strict code governing her every step, her every breath, her every beat of her heart.

Being still in the process of losing her religion, Darrene held on to what would save her from drowning.
Her salvation had come in shape of the raven-haired Katrina.
A faint, yet oh so genuine, smile adorning Darrene's lips as she turned to face Nox's protege, expecting her to join her with the other Wyrmchildren.

Only for Katrina to stand there frozen, almost making Darrene inquire of why she would not accompany them, the warrior having to keep herself from butting heads with the man who went by the name of Vis, demanding him to treat Katrina just like the rest of them.
And yet something about Katrina's smile, Darrene's hazel eyes resting on her lips as they moved and thanked her for making her acquaintance, made all of the surging anger inside the warrior's chest subside.
Her eyes wandering up from Katrina's lips and find her own dark orbs as Darrene nodded at her.

"Likewise. It was a pleasure." She remarked, with her thin lips forming a bright smile, slowly fading as Darrene turned to follow the other Wyrmchildren, gazing over her broad shoulders to see Katrina one last time.
A drawn-out sigh escaping her lips as her chest rose and fell heavily, trotting behind the Wyrmchildren as she joined them in the vast chambers.

Her muscles sore from the long journey made the prospect of some rest godsend, Darrene raising a scarred eyebrow as she headed for the bed the farthest away from the others, not having the nerves to stomach more conversation.

With a sigh, Darrene put her helmet on the ground, the sound of metal scraping against cold stone ringing in her ears as she sat on the edge of the bed.
Flexing her shoulders and rubbing the nape of her tense neck, Darrene slid her gloves off as she started to undress.

Her fingers came to fidget with the clasps of her breastplate, finally removing the heavy piece of armor and allowing her to breath easier.
Dismounting her arched pauldrons and removing her sabatons, Darrene put the metal plating next to her helmet as she leaned forwards.

Her elbows resting on her thighs as she propped up her head, fingers brushing through dark hair as another deep sigh escaped her lips.
Closing her eyes, Darrene felt a thousand thoughts invade her mind.
Some of doubt, some of hope, a hundred new questions and the desire to know more...

Her fingers slipped into her scale-mail coat, past her collar, as they delved deeper into her blouse.
Fingertips brushing over warm skin as they came to wrap around what hung from her neck.
Retrieving the necklace as she gazed at it resting in her open palm.

A golden cross adorned by one of the many martyrs of her faith.
Her hazel eyes wandering over the finely crafted ornament, fingertips tracing the cross' edges.
Could she ever allow herself to forget what years of service to the church had taught her?
Could she be free to follow her heart and not the draconian set of ideals and rules her faith had carved out for her?

She did not know, yet as she slipped out of her armored coat and draped it over the rest of her equipment, Darrene would come to lie down on her bed.
Grasping the symbol of her faith tightly as the image of raven-hair and pale skin slowly crept into her mind...
The faintest of smiles accenting her lips as she closed her eyes....

What restless dreams had haunted Darrene's all too brief sleep would be banished, as the woman that was supposed to be a long-forgotten ancestor of hers woke her up.
Darrene getting to her feet as she watched a few other Wyrmchildren be rounded up.
She had questions, but she knew not to ask them in this moment.
Instead she rose to her full height as she felt the cool metal of her necklace rest against the warm flesh of her chest, oh so very close to her beating heart.
Nodding towards Eshne and the other Wyrmchildren.
"What are we waiting for?"

Ishnai had been contentedly gnawing upon a large cut of steak as she looked into Vis' eyes, patiently waiting for his answer. His expression worried her, and his answer caused her to cease the stuffing of her stomach, her uncertainty that the beauty of nature would survive the impending war between divine beings, further solidified by even Vis himself not knowing, caused her to lose her appetite. "I see... I have faith that you will do all you can to protect your nature, great Vis... and I certainly will as well, no matter what the future holds. I feel... blessed to be here, to be of your blood, as if it is my family's reward for our reverence of nature." It felt surreal to be so close to Vis, conversing with him as if he was an equal. Not to mention, his looks were rather distracting. He seemed to embody the beauty and ruggedness of nature both, just as she imagined he would.

The cat blushed (albeit invisibly under her fer) as Vis soon called for everyone's attention, bringing the feast to a close as well as startling Ishnai out of the thoughts she now felt guilty for. A thought suddenly came to mind, though... Vis would've had to have... mated with one of her female ancestors, wouldn't he have? Did this mean he had interest in creatures such as she? After all, a joke in Ishnai's family had always been that 'Khorus females have always been the same.' By that logic, it wouldn't be far-fetched that the same qualities her lord may have enjoyed about the female he had mated with all those centuries ago may be replicated in Ishnai herself... but what in Vis' name was she thinking!?

Ishnai occupied herself to keep her mind away from these thoughts she judged immediately as impure and blasphemous by taking in her surroundings and the vast amounts of people walking by her as the lot of them headed into another rather large chamber, albeit a fittingly cozy-looking one as this was where they'd all been staying. it reminded her of the arrangement of a typical campsite of her people: everyone gathering 'round, no walls between them, and sleeping close together for warmth from the cold night air. This was a bit different than that, everyone clearly expected to sleep upon the cots clearly displayed at the back of the room. There were no sexual connotations nor awkwardness to such sleeping arrangements where Ishnai came from. Sleeping like many cultures do, in a small room by herself or with a mate, would've felt very foreign to her.

When Vis wished them well and turned to leave, Ishnai bowed to him one more. "You as well, my lord. Should you need anything, I am here." Standing back up, the cat then surveyed the room, deciding what to do to pass the time. She caught sight of the human woman from earlier, who had introduced herself as a 'monk', whatever that was. She clearly shared her sense of duty to the Gods, and Ishnai found herself very curious of her people and their ways, what made the woman the way she was when the other humans here seemed to be struggling to accept they roles as Wyrmchildren.

With this in mind, Ishnai made sure she was standing up straight and slinked confidently across the room towards the woman. The first thought that came to her mind as she looked upon the woman was that she was rather beautiful, in an exotic way, to Ishnai's green eyes. Her hair was black much like Ishnai's own head-mane, as it was called among her people, yet longer by a large amount and braided elegantly. her skin was of a shade Ishnai had not seen before, either, and paired with the shape of her body and the features of her face, made her look rather stunning. Among Ishnai's people, relations between the same sex were very much frowned upon, yet appreciation of another's beauty was another thing altogether and was a thing of mutual respect among Felines rather than carrying connotations of sexual desire.

Pushing these thoughts aside for now so that she could focus on greeting the woman, Ishnai stepped up to the woman and smiled, introducing herself. "Apoligies if i am bothering you, Jimena, I simply wish to speak with you. I feel as if we would have much in common; I can tell by your form alone that you are a warrior, as am I, and your devotion to the Gods is mirrored in myself. We also both happen to be children of Vis, apparently... though I am still wrapping my head around that. I am curious of your people, these... monks. Can you tell me of them? I have never heard of them before, apologies for this humble cat's ignorance.

Eldynn RoseAge: 24
Gender: Female
Race: Faerie
Ancestor: Zephyr

Eldynn was about to speak more before Mr. Green-eye made an announcement to follow him. The girl stared at the food for a moment before deciding it wouldn't hurt to lose a bit of fat. The green eyed man lead everyone to a large room, which Eldynn assumed was the room they'd be staying in. He then left. How ominous. Eldynn looked around her. The room was, surprise surprise, big. Very big, and sort of empty aside from cots and what seemed to be basins. There was some food nearby that Eldynn would definitely eat later. Soon, Dragon-lady came in and said something like "It's time." Time for what?

Please, for fuck's sake, stop being so vague!

Eldynn pondered the possibilities of what "It's time" could mean. Maybe the thing about them being dragons was a lie. Maybe the truth was that they'd become food for the dragons. Or sacrifices. Well, Eldynn would wake herself up if that was to actually happen. All iz vell. People were starting to talk to one another. There was another cat person in the group. How did she not notice him earlier? He was fluffy... awe... that's cute... There was that bronze eyed man from earlier. There was the scary human (that Eldynn floated further away from), and there was the other cat person. Her fur wasn't as fluffy, but she still looked pretty. Eldynn stayed where she as for a moment. Then she plopped down on the floor. The faerie had spent a bit too much energy flying around a few minutes before. She'd rest before flying around again.

For once Hazel was speechless, utterly in awe of the events around her. From all that's she seen in this world nothing would ever compare to these last few hours. Every legend she's read, every tale told around a campfire, every rare instance of the tales and here they were. Dragons! Gods! Dragon Gods! And she! Was related to them!! This. This surely could not be real, it was all too good to be true. But her heart would deny denying all this.

She looked at the others, those apparently descendants of Eshne like her. One man looked full of doubt, another man , a feline, seemed determined to find information, the other woman, the one in loss of her faith right? Or was she thinking of another? Anyways that one was asleep. Hazel herself could not sleep. She felt pure excitement and was glad she answered the letter. No amount of blacksmithing and travel could ever be worth today.

Eshne entered. Hazel asked what’s was happening. It was time. Time for what? What shall they be doing? The dancer followed the woman, eager to see what will be happening next. All of this, all of this made more sense to her than anything else. Hazel had no religious ties to be broken, nor any other types of beliefs or strict moral codes of organizations to cloud her mind to the legends before her. Nothing kept her from believing all of this, she would shed all other beliefs anyways. This. These dragons gods, even the strangers around her, it was all the good kinds of new and yet familiar.

When Eshne lead them to where ever they were going Hazel would put on the biggest smile to her face, and grab the two males who seemed less inclined to just accept the events at hand by their arms "Come on boys! Shed your irritations and just see where the great legend take us? It's not everyday your reality breaks." She would chuckle after this and continue, "It only happens once a fortnight hahah, for me anyways." Hazel would continue to chuckle and keep them going forward. Then the gal would look behind her to the woman. "That’s the spirit miss! What indeed are we waiting for!" A brighter and more kind smile would be flashed towards her.

Veth Denrilith

full

21 | Elf | Zephyr
Veth gave Kit a rather bland stare, so he called her bluff on killing him, since all he did was smile in reaction to her threats. Honestly the way he behaved someone would end up actually doing so. He was quick enough to not topple over when she got him out of her lap. She casually picked up the stein of mead as though the interaction of her shoving him off had never even happened.

"You need to learn some manners then it seems. Kit, was it?" She remarked as he basically stated he had no idea what was and was not permissible regarding interacting with a new person, let alone a proper introduction. "Your first lesson, do not sit on a stranger's lap."

Her eyes slid over to Midas, who was clearly perturbed. If he wanted to cling to his anger, that was his choice. However, should his obsession with this anger lead to problems or harm towards others, she might have to consider the possibility of literally knocking sense into him, but that was a problem for another day. There was a hope that Midas would eventually calm down and look at things without the clouded judgement.

Eventually the man who had greeted them - Vis - announced to them all that they should follow after him.The way he phrased 'your room' made her slightly uneasy, sounding as though they were to all be sharing sleeping quarters. She quickly finished anything she wanted to eat, wiping her hands and face with a napkin and followed the small group, still opting to linger behind them.

When they finally made it to the said room, it was as Veth feared; uncomfortable cots, one basin to be shared between then, and pretty much no privacy. This place felt more like a medical waiting room for the sick rather than a group such as theirs. As much as this bothered Veth, she was in no position to currently protest. Would it have been better or worse to be separated from the group? She didn't have an answer.

She selected a cot, using it to sit rather than lay down, her back against the cold stone wall. She laid her sheathes sword across her lap, her hands draped over it. Kit had approached her here once again, assaulting her with questions. Some of them she was quite used to, things about her race and such, other questions were on a more personal level, which she just ignored entirely. She wasn't trying to be unfriendly, but he hadn't left the greatest first impression upon her when he used her lap as a seat.

Time pass, perhaps a few hours (Veth hadn't been keeping track of time) and Eshne, the red dragon woman entered the room. She sought out only specific people from the group, and whenever one inquired about what was going on, she cryptically answered them. This was a new development that Veth focused on intensely, what was it time for?

Veth remembered there was a small fairy around here somewhere. She got up, grabbing her sword and search for the little sprite. She found her on the floor, seemingly a bit tired. Veth crouched down, and silently regarded the little fairy. So adorable was one of the many thoughts that crossed her mind. "Do you need some assistance? I don't think resting on the floor is safe for someone of your stature." There was on insulting tone, just a calmness there in the offer.

Eshne wouldn’t respond to any of the wyrmchildren but instead continue leading them down the hall that they hadn’t noticed before. It didn’t take long for them to arrive at another massive set of doors, an immense heat filling the hall as she did. Slipping past it, assuming the others would follow, would put what looked to be a hellscape before them. They stood on a cliff with a lake of lava below, the goddess gesturing towards it with an anxious smile, but a smile nonetheless. “To trigger your blood, it's going to require something rather intense. And because we don’t want to wait for you two get into some life threatening situation, this-” she gestured down into the lake of molten rock- “Will have to do. It won’t kill you, but it's going to suck ass.”

After falling silent of a few minutes, she would take a seat on a large, hellish looking rock. “Take your time, but don’t make me push you in.”

This wasn’t the only thing going on, as Katrina was laid on her bed within her room, huddled under her sheets. Every so often another bought of pain would consume her skin, more scales forming. However, if it were going to be this painful for her skin to be replaced, she feared what was to come.

As if on queue, it returned but instead of centering in just her skin, it progressed into skull. Squeezing her burning her eyes shut, she thought this was utter torture, but little did she know that the others were going to have a much rougher time.

Hazel had no hesitation. She backed up, removed her shoes and then ran full speed and swan dived off that cliff. She laughed as she dialed through the hair, her ponytail coming slightly undone as she grew closer to the burning lake. Her clothes singed. The heat slapped her face. Hazel smiled and then the lava hit her.

It was hot and a somewhat like water, but thicker. It was so exhilarating here she was!! In lava!!! Surviving!!! Image if she knew about this before. The molten liquid burst around her as she surfaced. Her skin felt tingling, and in her chest she felt pure joy. ”Hey guys!!! The water is warm!!!!” She laughed and went right back into the lava. The current in the lake started to push her down. Maybe this was a mistake. Her arms tried to bring her upwards but she only kept going down. She may not burn but she would still need to breather Funny she always thought if she died it would be by drowning, the lava lake, was a surprise though.

Hazel let out all the air inside her. This was indeed set. Eshne though said this would help them though. The woman had told them they won’t die. The dancer should trust in that. The bubbles of air rose above her, she whatched them float. Her body relaxed. The lava entered her lungs like she was drowning in water but it felt heavier. Just calm down Hazel...just...let what ever will happen happen. Her body kept floating. Her skin felt like it was breaking out, her eyes felt...different. The lava flowed in and out of her like she was breathing it. Maybe she was.

It seemed they just had to follow Eshne wherever they were going. Not that following her was all that bad, given the view was rather nice. Besides, it gave him time to process all the information he'd gathered so far.

His golden eyes glanced at those around him.

First there was Midas the fool. Reading him was easy. Quick to speak his mind, more than a little reckless, and one to let his mouth go running away with his head. Honestly, he was so much like many of the Legion's lower mercenaries that he hardly bothered to keep much tabs on him.

Then there was the girl that had his arm. She had yet to say her name out loud, so he couldn't know it. She seemed to be much of a child, looking at all of this with a sense of unchecked wonder. Frankly, he had her pegged at this point as a naive girl. Potentially useful, given how easily the naive were prone to being manipulated.

And the last of his three companions... Darrene. She was, perhaps, even more outspoken than Midas, but at least she knew when to close her mouth. Judging by the way she had looked at the other non-humans, she was likely one who looked down on the other races. Given her reactions to everything thus far, it seemed that a great portion of her identity had come crumbling down under the stress of current events. It would be interesting to see how she recovered, assuming she did at all.

Then there were the others. The Centaur seemed to be a rowdy one. Not exactly quick on the uptake, but he seemed earnest, albeit blunt. If nothing else, his heart was in the right place. He'd have to find out more about the Centaur's sense of justice, particularly how he felt about mercenaries. Depending on how self-righteous he was, the centaur may be someone for him to actively avoid.

Another one on Ki'Tavi's radar was that little fairy. Obviously, she wasn't much of a threat, but someone of her diminutive size could be quite useful. She was inquisitive, and seemed almost unable to sit still for more than a few moments. If she could retain information on what she saw and heard, she could be a valuable informant.

Then there were the two aquatics. The female, she was one of those religious ones, given how she immediately groveled at the feet of one of the dragons. Frankly, Ki'Tavi found groveling to be rather pathetic regardless of circumstance. It seemed there was more to her than met the eye though, if he was interpreting Delta's earlier questioning of her correctly. As for what, though, he'd have to find out later. It was clear though, that she was hiding something.

The male, on the other hand, seemed to be more of a soldier. Judging by his way of speaking, he hadn't been around others before. That could go one of two ways. Either he'd be sternly set in his ways and against any chance at budging him, or he'd be ignorant enough to believe what he's told. Could make him quite easy to manipulate, if the right cards were played. Perhaps he would best be befriended early, to make him useful.

Strangely enough, there was another Cat-Folk here, too. However, she seemed to fall into the same mold as the female triton. Too zealously religious and inclined to blindly believe the words of these dragons. She was a groveler too, which didn't help her case. He'd have to talk to her later, if only to sate his curiosity about how the rest of his kind lived.

Then there was the broken human. Frankly, Ki'Tavi hardly even bothered to keep tabs on him. He seemed plain enough to not worry about.

Of course, there was also the young girl that was here with the dragons. She had some sway with the old geezer. She also seemed to be kind, given how she comforted Darrene when her spirit broke. No doubt she'd have more information than the others, but it seemed she was being kept isolated from the rest of them. Kit was eager to know why.

Last but not least, there was Veth. Her stoic demeanor had immediately caught his attention because, out of all of them gathered, she was easily the most difficult to read. It seemed like she was wearing a mask, much like he, himself did, refusing to show her true colors. She hadn't been rattled by the revelation of dragons, so, to test her, he'd sat upon her lap to see if there was anything that could break her outward demeanor. As he had expected though, she had deflected him just as calmly and coolly as she had deflected the dragonborn. Normally, he could get a lot of information out of people through questioning, starting with indirect/obvious questions and working his way towards the more personal questions. It seemed as though she was onto him, and simply ignored the personal questions. Without a doubt, she was the wild card of the group simply because she was the only one he couldn't get a good read on.

As they entered a new room, Ki'Tavi's ears laid back at the intense heat. How the hell did they fit a damn lava pool inside of a castle? As Eshne spoke, it soon became obvious what their purpose here was. They were supposed to take a leap of faith right into a lake of molten lava and expect to survive. It was, frankly, fucking crazy. Then again, so was the fact that the attractive woman leading them could, at the drop of a hat, change form into a giant, fire-breathing lizard.

So really, there was no choice in the matter. Either he'd jump in and die, or she could just turn into a dragon and drop him in, and he'd die. Shaking his head with a smirk, he took off his top, dropped his belts and kicked off his boots. Frankly, he didn't want to have to replace them if, by some miracle he did survive. The pants were easy enough, the rest was custom made. As he was preparing, he watched as the naive girl just shot off the cliff to take her leap of faith. Yep, he had her pegged pretty good.

Shaking his head, he looked from the others to Eshne, his tail swishing anxiously behind him. As much as he hid it, as much as he played things off cool and collected. He was, for lack of a better term, scared. Sure, he didn't fear death. He was a Mercenary. Death was an occupational hazard. That still didn't make it any easier to go running into something that logic indicated would most certainly be painful and horrific way to die. "Well, in case you're wrong about surviving this and I do wind up dead..." Ki'Tavi began as he came up next to Eshne. He had to do something to steady his nerves, or he wouldn't be able to take that leap. Something to get his adrenaline going...

SLAP

"I want to be sure I have one hell of a story for the Ferryman when he escorts me to hell!" Ki'Tavi was already running with a grin on his face, even as his palm met Eshne's backside. A few steps further and he leaped into the open air, turning around to face the others with that grin still on his lips. He wasn't about to let his nerves show now. Instead, he held up two fingers in a simple, casual salute as he disappeared from their view.

Ki'Tavi turned his gaze towards the lava below as it drew ever closer. He almost feared his racing heart would give out even before he hit the lava. He could feel the intense heat that burned away at his pants. When he hit the water, his surprise at the warmth caused him to lose his breath, and he began to sink.

He.... Wasn't dead?...

It felt like he was floating, suspended in warmth that encompassed his entire being. It was oddly relaxing. Was this death? His eyes opened and all he could see around him was a murky red abyss. No, he was somehow alive in the water. As he tried to breathe in, he felt the lava fill his lungs. At first, it was uncomfortable, suffocating even. He coughed, feeling as if he were choking before at last the sensation subsided. Somehow, he was breathing in the lava...

If there was any question before, it was put to rest now. He wasn't normal.

Amidst the warmth that encompassed his body, he became faintly aware of a more powerful burning sensation at the base of his neck. Some part of him new it should hurt, but his mind didn't register the pain of it. It spread from the base of his neck to his shoulders, but still, Ki'Tavi didn't feel any pain in it.

Suddenly, he felt his body jolt, a gasp escaping him as he felt.... Something.. poking out from his spine. Reaching a hand back, his eyes widened as he felt... Well, it felt like bone protruding from his spine. Something like that should hurt. He knew it should, but even now he felt, at best, a minor discomfort.

His body jolted again, arching his back forward as it seemed like his shoulders and spine tried to burst forth from his back. He felt his shoulder blades split in two. He tried to look back, but his body began convulsing, contorting itself add odd angles as his back began to feel like it was bubbling.

It should have been painful, it should have been agonizing, but he felt nothing until a sudden pop caused him to cry out as his back suddenly felt like it was burning. Had the lava actually started to eat away at him? He hesitantly turned his head to see great leathery wings protruding from his back, tipped with golden spines.

So Eshne was telling the truth... He was becoming a dragon.

This was real.

During the banquet Jimean remained mostly quiet. When Vis offered her a seat she gladly took it, sitting down quietly as she ate a small bowl of rice along with a few vegetables. To others it would have been nothing but a mere snack, but to her it was a meal. When the other descendant of Vis introduced herself she calmly replied back giving her name. During the banquet that consisted of as much as she spoke, only listening to Ishnai and Vis converse.

After the banquet Vis had led them all to their room, which was only a big room filled with many beds for them all to sleep on. Jimean thought little of it, she was one of the very few girls in her temple and she was used to being around the opposite gender, not to mention the fact that they also all slept together in a room similar to this. A few hours past of others conversing and getting used to the living arrangements, while Jimean simply sat crisscrossed on her bed, eyes closed.

She was interrupted from her meditation when the woman from earlier, Ishnai, approached her. Opening her eyes, she silently listened to her as she spoke, a calm look on her face. She smiled kindly at Ishnai at her questions. "No worries my friend, it isn't uncommon for
those of different race and religions to not know of us, not to mention different regions, to know little of us monks. We monks live up in the mountains of Ult. Ult is the man who we know as the God of mankind. He was the most active with humans, showing them the way and telling the stories of the old."

Her face held admiration as she spoke of those she worshiped, "The stories most commonly known are that of the great light that created life, created the universe. Of course you know familiar stories to the light. After all, the light is the man we met earlier, Nox. Rather the name light does not mean that he shone like the sun, but rather that he was like a sun to us. Protecting us from the shadows of the dark. We worship that of Nox, or the light, and the other Gods. But for us the Gods of mercy and mankind are not beings of extraordinary powers, but rather beings that were rewarded for their loyalty and devotion to the Gods, sacrificing everything for them. They give blessings to us of lower stature so that we can one day live along side them as angels."

"We monks follow with the way of the smaller Gods, protected the people and giving them blessings from the Gods themselves. We train and sacrifice a normal life as an exchange for saying that we are even close to Gods. That is why I am a warrior like yourself. We monks give to the people because Gods made the world for us to share."

Jimean took in a breath, her body needing air after talking for so long. She then turned to Ishnai and spoke, "Now, I have said some stories of my people, what about yours?"

Midas followed without a word, his eyea glancing among the group. So these were his..."siblings"...a cat, a religious woman, and a woman whose far to optemistic for his own liking...But he shouldnt be cruel. He had to admit, he was being rather negative about everything...

His eyes shifted to eshne. He had seen her trying to comfort some of the others. She had beeb the first to show them her true form, and even then she was gentle with the woman...He could almost relate. He knew the looks. The disgust. People were afraid of him too, back in the city...

Rubbing the back of his neck with a bad hand, he looked back to the woman who was clearly trying to make them ease up. She was right...to a point. It wasnt every day the gods came calling. He ended up give a small smile to her, letting her be.

As the hall began to heat up and the fire goddess came to a door, he got a feeling this was the Her chambers. As the door slowly opened, midas breath caught. What kind of world were they looking into? As she lead them inside, and explained, Midas couldnt help but groan inwardly. She wants him to dive, into a pit of lava? For fucks sake, are they mad?!

He was quickly coming back to the thought that they were just going to kill him, but his thoughts were broken by the two who decided jumping was a good idea. He rushed over, hoping he could catch atleast one,but he was far to late. He stared down into the pool of lava, and pinched the bridge of his nose. So much for having hope. And after what that cat did, he couldnt help but wonder why they called him an idiot.

Looking bsck to eshne, and then to the lava, midas sighed, casting his gaze skyward. The hell was he thinking...
"...tell me I can trust you. Tell me We arent just cannon fodder. Just...tell me you actually care what happens to us...please?"

Following the red-haired woman who supposedly was one of her distant ancestors, Darrene could feel the stone halls grow warmer with every step. Resting her palm against the carved walls to feel them radiate heat, the callous skin of her hand, the result of a life of conflict spent with weapon in hand, tingling warmly as she caught back up with the others.
Her long, muscular legs, making it easy to find herself trotting along behind the group of wyrmchildren.
Up to that point Darrene hadn't really bothered getting to know them, yet her hazel eyes wandered over their turned backs, knowing that whatever fate awaited them, they would share it all the same.

Her eyes widening as Eshne opened the large gate that had blocked their way, the heavy iron-reinforced door budging as a wave of nearly unbearable heat rolled over them, the burning glow of flame and brimstone filling her sight.
The intense heat made Darrene flinch, gritting her teeth and raising a hand to her face in an attempt to shield her eyes from the radiant wave of hellish air that blew past her and filled the hallway.
Yet as her heart beat faster and her chest felt tighter due to the overpowering heat, Darrene clenched her fists as she pressed on into the burning landscape that lay beyond the iron gate.

"This must be hell..." Darrene gasped, the reflection of the fiery pit of lava glimmering in her widened eyes as she could feel the humidity of her hazel orbs dissipate, making her shut her eyes tightly and forcing her to avert her gaze.
Instead glancing over to Eshne who just casually sat on top of a rocky formation of obsidian, giving her the appearance of some otherworldy demon.
Vivid images of the underworld her faith had drilled into her skull filled her mind.

Blurred images of a realm of fire, where those who had sinned, those who did not have any faith, those who had wronged the gods, would be sentenced to burn for all eternity.
Their souls kindling the inferno that burned away at their very essence.

It felt oddly ironic to her.
She had set out to serve her faith, only to have her question the very thing that had shaped her into the woman she was...
And now, with her faith in ruin, she found herself at the edge of a fiery inferno, just like the tales of those who had abandoned their faith and were sentenced to repent.
Through fire and flames, to place their trust into the purity of their souls and redeem themselves in the eyes of the creators...

Her eyes wandered over the other Wyrmchildren as one of them leaped into the fiery pit below, Darrene's hazel eyes widening in shock as she darted towards the cliffside, watching Hazel fall down into the inferno...
And remained unscathed...

It was almost like the stories of old.
Divine power keeping those whose convictions were true from harm as they walked through fire, as they were submerged in icy water...
The heart in her chest beat faster as her fingers slid past her white blouse, grasping her cross tightly.
The fiery winds blowing around her left her chest rise and fall with labored breaths as she closed her eyes.

"Those whose path is true shall not fear evil, for their belief protects them." Darrene prayed, feeling her knuckles turn white and the golden ornament bite into her skin, drawing blood.
Taking a step closer to the edge, Darrene felt the current of heat surge around her tall frame, the fiery wind brushing through the dark hair of her head and made the white blouse that clung to her athletic body dance in the turbulent current.

Then, exhaling deeply, Darrene took a step forward....

Time seemed to slow as she felt herself fall, the heat growing unbearable as she readied herself for the impact, her grasp around the symbol of her faith tightening as, after what seemed like an eternity in limbo, her body collided with the infernal lake of flames...

She felt the overwhelming heat around her as cloth was set ablaze, feeling the fiery inferno reduce her to simply her own being.
Her clothing being consumed in what seemed like an instant as her scarred frame was subjected to the intense heat of the hellish pit.

But then metal began to melt, making Darrene's eyes shoot open as she felt the cross inside her palm grow bright with heat.
Her head breached the surface of the fiery lake as the warrior took in breaths of sulphur, almost causing her to retch as the vile air filled her lungs.
Watery eyes coming to watch the symbol of her faith glow intensely as the metal melted...
A river of pure gold running down her palm and disappearing inside the ocean of lava as Darrene felt her heart grow numb...

An intense pain replacing the emptiness in her chest as Darrene's bare form scrunched up, feeling every fiber of her being scream in torment as she felt the heat of the pit seep into her bones.
Opening her mouth to scream as Darrene felt herself sink deeper into the molten inferno, raising a hand skywards as if expecting a divine intervention to rescue her from this fate...

But the gods did not answer.
She had betrayed her own kin, and her faith, and now she faced eternal damnation...

Feeling the lava pour into her mouth as she drowned, Darrene's fingers slowly submerged, disappearing beneath the fiery waves...

Falling...Drowning...
Surrounded by flame and filled with pain, Darrene pulled her knees closer to her chest, accepting her fate as she felt her heartbeat slow...

Just for her eyes to shoot wide open at the wave of heat...
That originated from deep within her chest.
As if attempting to challenge the fiery inferno around her, the strong muscle of her heart beat heavy and powerful, sending molten flame through her veins as Darrene opened her mouth, screaming as the infernal sea poured into her lungs.

Another beat of her heart.

Another overwhelming surge of power that made every fiber of her being radiate heat as Darrene felt as if she was becoming one with the fiery pit she had cast herself into, believing she would emerge unscathed and unchanged...
But change was occurring...

Change that would tear her very being asunder as the warrior felt bones melt in the intense heat.
Like a blacksmith shaping metal, Darrene felt her skeleton radiate intense heat...
As bones grew and rearranged themselves, feeling her body contort into shapes she did not deem possible.

Thud...
Another wave of infernal energy made Darrene's skin crawl as her fingertips brushed over the flesh of her arms, feeling it grow harder than any armour from mortal craftsmen...
Crimson scales coming to push through her skin as they started spreading over her nude form, covering every inch of scarred flesh in a shell of the same colour like the inferno that surrounded her.

The pain was overwhelming as Darrene would find herself sink deeper into the fiery heart of the pit, the heat growing even more intense as her body thirsted for it, taking in the power of the planet's molten core and making it its own.

Her body ached as Darrene's head spun, no thoughts to be wasted on what was happening, no mortal words to describe the sensation of becoming one with fire and flame.
Hazel eyes shot wide open as their colour changed, radiating with the same intense orange as her pupils narrowed into reptilian slits.

Her lips trembling as her jaws unhinged, trying to scream as bone erupted from her skull, growing into a twisted crown of horns as Darrene felt her molten bones take on a shape she had been familiar with when she was just a child...

Her entire body seemed to grow as the inferno poured into her very being, her heart's powerful beats accelerating the metamorphosis as Darrene's arched her back, feeling her spine emerge from her lower back as a serpentine tail grew from her mortal frame.
Her fingers that rested over the horned visage that used to be a woman's face becoming longer and twisted as she felt the skin between them connect bones and form wings...

Fingers and toes curling into wicked claws as with one last beat of her heart Darrene's entire being siphoned the power of flame, feeling her body greedily accept the offering of fire as it made it its own.
Liquid lava pouring into her heart as it grew stronger, more powerful, the empty pit her faith had left filled with something far more tangible:
FIRE!

The woman was gone, the dragon remained, as the mighty wyvern floated through the fiery inferno.
Her eyes shooting open as reptilian pupils narrowed, the powerful crimson frame of the descendant of Eshne herself stirring as Darrene's wings catapulted her draconic frame through the fires and flames of the molten womb that had birthed her anew.

Her fanged snout breaching the surface, Darrene raised her horned visage out of the fiery inferno, eyes wide as a deafening roar escaped her.
Fueled by the fiery heart that resided deep inside her draconic form, her scream of confusion turned into one of triumph, feeling the heat surge through her body as a pillar of flame erupted from her sharpened beak.

She had been reborn.
Mortal had become Dragon
Shattered faith had been reforged in the fiery pits.
It had been reshaped and had become newfound purpose as her heart beat with powerful passion.

Raising her massive wingspan from the fiery lake, Darrene tilted the elongated skull residing on strong serpentine neck backwards as another roar escaped her.
Reptilian eyes wandering over reforged flesh, taking in the sight of crimson scales and a powerful new form that would allow her to serve the people of this world even more vigorously.

Her gaze came to rest on Eshne, her ancestor and the source of her draconic heritage, making pride beat deep inside her chest as her powerful frame dashed through the fiery inferno.
Her body emerging from the lake filled with the fiery blood of the planet as talons carved stone as the dragon scaled the cliffside.
Shedding the lava clinging to her draconic frame like remnants of her old self as Darrene soon arrived at the top, raising her head high as her amber eyes came to rest on Eshne.

A voice echoing through the fiery inferno that had reforged her into a being of pure flame, the dragon lowered its head, pulling a winged claw to her chest as she bowed before Mistress Eshne.
"I have been a fool to have ever doubted..." Darrene spoke, feeling every fiber of her being surge with newfound power.

Eldynn relaxed on the floor, not really thinking of much. Sometimes it was nice to be silent and just listen to the world. And then it sunk into her that the room that the group was going to live in
sucked. Eldynn frowned, but didn't let it get to her. This was just a dream after all. Her back was sort of aching. Perhaps it was about time to sleep. Loud footsteps came close. Eldynn turned to see the elf from earlier. The elf looked much bigger from the floor than from up in the air. It wasn't something to awe over (everyone's tall when you're on the floor), it was just the first thing Eldynn thought upon seeing the elf. The elf was holding a sword, and for a moment Eldynn was afraid that she had mistaken her for a poisonous butterfly (or whatever weird things they had in elf areas) or something. The elf, however, crouched down to ask if she needed help. Help with what?

"I don't think I need help, but thanks!" Eldynn managed to sound energetic.

She briefly looked over the elf. Slender, pale skin, blue eyes... white hair... Eldynn narrowed her eyes for a second. There was something that had to do with elves and white hair...

"Oh!" Eldynn exclaimed. "You must be Lethian! Lethian? Lecethian! You have very pretty hair."

She'd heard only rumors of Lecethian Elves. Merciless, emotionless, cold... Indeed, this elf seemed pretty emotionless... though she was oddly kind for the rumors about her type. Eldynn decided not to mention that. It would be very rude.

Eldynn was silent for a moment.

"SHIT!" she blurted out. "MYNAMESELDYNNWHATABOUTYOU?"

Veth's head tilted to the side as the little fairy announced that she didn't need help. Perhaps she had been mistaken in thinking the fairy seemed tired. Thankfully the little one didn't get offended by her offer of assistance. That said quite a bit about the diminutive girl, that Veth thought she didn't have the stubborn pride of some.

She remained silent as the name of her people was mispronounced a few times. Eventually the fairy got the name correct eventually. A feat many others had failed to do so in some previous interactions. This was followed by a compliment regarding her hair. "Hmm, a genuine compliment. Thank you." Veth moved from a crouch to sitting down cross-legged, a more sustainable position if they were to remain at this location.

""Eldynn? Apologies, you spoke a bit too fast even for me to not decipher your words without difficulty. My name is Veth," she introduced herself calmly. " I must say, you have lovely wings. And yes, I am a Lecethian. Seems we're more notorious than I thought. I am curious how one such as yourself have heard about us, though it is not really important. A simple curiosity as it seems the further I've traveled the stranger the tales."

Katrina
28 || Female || Wyrmspawn || Nox
Once people began to dive in, the goddess nodded in approval. But Kit’s little stunt caused her smile to fade. With a rather hostile glare she would’ve stood, making her way to the edge of the cliff, not even paying mind to Midas as she gave him a shove. Once he was already sent over the edge, the woman wasted no time in transforming herself, her massive form taking flight with a powerful flap of her wings before diving steeply downward towards the lake of lava.

Reaching in with her forepaws, she managed to grab hold of the cat’s changing form. The molten rock was assisting in making the transformation painless, without it, he was going to have a hell of a time. Carrying him over to a small island in the middle of the lake, she tossed his form onto it with a snarl set on her muzzle, watching him writhe in agony before returning back to the cliff she had came from.

She changed back after landing, just in time for Darrene to arrive, bowing low and apologizing. WIth a broad smile she dismissed her. “No need. It was a rather bullshit explanation. I told Nox we needed to do something a bit bigger and flashier but he didn't’ listen.” Taking a few steps towards the dragon’s form, she gave it a once over with an approving nod. “I see where you got your beautiful looks from. Anyway, once the rest of them are done bathing down there we can head back.”

As for the rest of the wyrmchildren, if one were paying attention they would hear an awful pain-laiden scream ring out through the halls, unable to truly tell who it had originated from aside that it was feminine in nature. Unbeknownst to them, it had came from Katrina who was currently curled up on her bed, her entire form feeling as if it were being torn to pieces. Unlike the other elements, there was nothing truly to ease the transformation. Nothing natural, at least.

Vis had finally entered her room to check on her, arriving near her bedside to see that it was going much slower than expected. “Katrina?” He asked softly, the woman giving a whimper in response. “Right…” he muttered, soon scooping her into his arms and quickly leaving the room.

The man would enter the group’s room with the woman in his arms, setting her down on one of the cots with a sigh. “I need someone to watch her and keep me informed if her condition worsens. But, for now, I need to see my descendents.” He would gesture towards those he is related to, beckoning them forward.

Hazel Rock

Hazel.jpg
Interacting: StoneWolf18 StoneWolf18 | Eshne
Located: In lava, not drowning

The lava felt warm on her skin, it soothed her scars up and down her body. Something else though, was irritating it. It felt like she was breaking out into a rash. The lava was almost impossible to see through. Insured she felt it. Her hand felt up her aother arm....it was like snake scales...Her skin was turning into scales. No doubt what ever was going on with her eyes was also apart of this transformation.

It went from irritation of the skin to a burning sensation in her bones.
Her entire body felt like is was breaking down and yet growing out at the same time. Like peice by peice her entire being was being replaced by something new. Painfully new. For these moments it felt like Hazel wasn’t Hazel anymore. Her muscles felt like they were ripping apart as they grew. Her persceptions of the world became warped. Her mouth just felt awful as her teeth became longer and sharper along with her entire jaws elongating to a snout.

It was like a fire was lit inside her and consumed her soul as her changing body float up. Limbs...new limbs. She could feel them. As awful as it felt to have two...wings! Wow wings! Wow...it hurt. The pain was terrible but the whole process brought on an incredible adrenaline rush. This was so much better than cliff diving, or that time she stole some rather awesome Scimitars from a museum that was still in her possession. This was...this was like becoming a whole different being. Like..like ..rebirth! Yes. Just like that.

Before she knew it the pain subsided and her entire self was completely different. Wings, tail, her teeth snapped at the lava, Hazel was now entirely a dragon. This was sooo cool. Her scaly head slowly emerged from the lava. A toothy smile, Well the best smile she could do in this form at Eshne. Her new form swan to the sides of the lake, her new claws pulled her up from the lava. The higher she went the more lava she shook off herself. Hazel gave her wings a few good flaps to shed the molten earth off her before it hardened. Eventually she reached the top and climbed out the basin of lava. She shook herself once more and sat down, looking pleased with all that’s happened.

The way the exotic human woman had been sitting, eyes closed and expression blissful, was very odd to Ishnai, she didn't know how to make of it. No one could possibly sleep that way, though, so she decided that disturbing her now, whilst she had to chance to speak to her, was worth the risk. Thankfully, she did indeed seem to be amicable to the prospect of conversing with her right now; more than amicable in fact. The woman, once her eyes were open, was visibly very content, and perhaps even a happy to speak to the feline.

Ishnai respectfully took a seat in front of the woman, her own legs also deftly crossing as she listened intently to her kind words, setting the feline at ease, and subsequently enjoying the woman's speech. As she mentioned her religion revolving around a human god at first, Ishnai was confused that, unlike another human woman within the group of Wyrmchildren, she was more than willing to submit to the gods as Ishnai believed should happen out of respect. However, as Jimean began to explain how the pantheon functioned in full, she began to understand; just as her kind had always worshipped Vis, it seemed that Jimean had had an epiphany that her gods were the same ones that had t ruly created all things, though they were draconic and somewhere down the line, that little detail seemed to have been lost to the Monks. Either way, what she beleived the gods had done were similar to what hers believed Vis did for thier people.

Ishnai found her eyes lighting up as the explanation for who the monks truly were then followed. It was fascinating... a group of people who truly devoted thier lives to carring on the ways of the gods. The thought of ascension as an end goal seemed a bit wrong to Ishnai the wa she had been raised, yet here she was with Vis himself treating her as more or less an equal to him, so in a way... she'd ascended herself, and so had Jimean.

Ishnai smiled when Jimean bid her to tell of her own people. 'Thank you, I very much enjoyed learning of your kind and I will be pleased to return the favor." She cleared her thraot and strainted her posture to reflect teh importance this topic had in her heart and mind both. "Our people's religion revolves around one god: a dragon of nature that, somehow, we had kept the true name and form of other the Milennia: Vis himself. We believe that it was he who created all of nature, and all creatures akin to us Feline, those of animal descent but gifted with greater intelligence and upright bodies. We also believe that he controls the weather, and the actions and populations of all wild beasts. We prayed to him if things were not going in our favor, and sacrificed our food and other commodities at altars to him erected from the bones of felled beasts."

"As for our people themselves, we are a nomadic tribe that makes camp in different areas of the world as the seasons change, following the bounties of nature and the favor of the weather as best we can, whilst avoidig other races for the most part, particularly the large human settlements. Among most humans, though I've a feeling none of your Monks think this way, we are regarded as untrustworthy thieves who need be strung up, enslaved or simply hunted like bison. Thus, we stay clear from them. They number far above us. We live our lives to honor Vis and our tribe, as well as simply coexist with all life." With her explanation finished, she smiled. "So... what do you think?" She was ready to hear this woman's honest opinion, and was quite enjoying the atmosphere surrounding this conversation: for once, she did not feel afraid to speak of her people's customs with a human.

Before the woman could respond, however, a scream issued forth nearby by froze the cat-woman in place, making her fur stand on end all over. she found herself standing, her heart beating as she addressed her new friend with a dire look on her eyes. "Vis' rains... do you think we should investigate, Jimean? Ah , unless that door is locked.... I hope the poor lass is doing well." Clearly, she was worried, but thankfully, her god had everything handled more or less, unbeknowst to her.

Only a few short moments later, Vis himself appeared in the door, an unconcious woman in her arms. The mysterous other daughter of Nox, seemingly different from the others, and seeming to inherit his features more than his others. What had happened to her? Visdid not give Ishnai time to worry, however, as he called for her and Jimean after addressing the matter of the girl in her arms.

Ushnai too ka deep breath and turned towards vis, bowing respectfully. "Yes, great vis. Come, Jimean... it seems to be out time." She looked over her shoulder and motioned for Jimean to follow her as she aprroached her god. "I wish her a full and speedy recovery," she said, looking to the unconscious woman in question and then the Dragon holding her. "Regardless, I am ready to become what I am destined to be, my god."

Ki'Tavi felt himself flinch. Looking down at his arms, he watched in awe as his fur burned away, scales claiming the vacated space as his body continued to bubble and pop at odd angles. He knew it should be painful. He should be in absolute agony, but all he felt was numb. It was like the magma around him drew away the pain so he could feel none of it. Instead, all he could feel was power.

Every time his lungs took in new magma, he felt a surge of heat, of warmth that extended out to his whole being, filling him with a sensation of strength and power he had never imagined possible even in his wildest of dreams. It was more intoxicating than anything he had ever experienced before. He smiled, as if content as his body twisted, grew, and changed. He watched, as if in a dream, as his claws grew longer, sharper, and more dangerous. His back arched, and he felt the same sensation as before when sharp spines punched free from his back.

Then he felt a new feeling. Claws wrapping around his body and ripping him from the gentle embrace of the magma. Looking up, he felt like his daze was starting to fade as he looked up to see Eshne's dragon form towering over him as he was dropped onto the ground. As the magma stuck to his form stated to slip off his form, he became more and more alert, and less numb to the pain. He managed a weak smile as the dull pain started to increase over his body. He fully expected her to kill him right then and there.

"Trusting people at their word was never my strong suit.... Nothing personal..." He coughed out as the Magma flew from his lungs. When he inhaled, it felt like knives suddenly were stabbing into his chest. As the last of the magma slipped from his form, he opened his mouth to scream but found that no sound could escape. He had to watch as she flew away, leaving him there. No, she wasn't going to kill him, she wanted him to suffer..

So this was the price he paid for touching the Goddess of War. Well, if he was honest with himself, he figured he was gonna die one way or another. Even as he had leaped off the cliff, he fully expected to die. He hadn't believed Eshne when she said they'd survive. Up until he hit the magma, he had thought it was all just some sick game and that they'd die once they hit the magma.

That's why he'd been scared to take that leap. As for why he thought smacking her ass was the best solution? It was the only way he could get himself to jump without letting his fear show. Damn his fucking pride...

A sickening series of snaps hit his ears, and he suddenly felt as if he were being strangled as his neck started to elongate. He wanted to scream, but it felt suffocating. Breathing wasn't in the realm of possibilities for him anymore. He turned his head towards his body, watching as his form contorted in ways that should not ever be physically possible. He wanted to scream, but he couldn't breathe. The pain was so intense that he couldn't take in a breath.

Black flecks started to appear on his vision, multiplying and taking over until he fell into darkness.

A roar was the next thing he remembered. His eyes slowly opened as he watched a head poke out of the water.

... She sure did like to roar, didn't she? He shook his head, watching as the one in question took a direct approach up the front of the cliff to speak to Eshne.

Judging by what he could overhear, it was easy to tell who that dragon was. Not long after, another head poked up, who he could assume to have been the girl who went first. Weakly, he raised his head up to look over his form. Parts of him were still on fire, but it didn't feel painful. Maybe he was just too exhausted to feel pain anymore.

His whole body felt weak. Ki'Tavi tried to push himself up, but his legs still ached with the pain of transformation. So he just lay on that island, tired eyes looking up at the others on the cliff. So that was the kind of punishment he could expect for disobeying these so-called 'Gods'. That was worse than hell. If they thought they could break him so easily though....

He gritted his teeth, pushing himself until he slipped into the lava once again.

Then they had another thing coming to them....

The warmth of the magma seemed to ease the pain in his body. The longer he swam, the better he started to feel. Before long, he was able to climb back up the cliff to the others, though he kept his distance from Eshne. He wasn't foolish enough to think he stood a chance against her wrath. So, he just sat on his haunches, taking the time now to look himself over. Even after his magma bath, parts of his body were still putting off flames. Looking closer, he realized the flames were actually coming from him, not that he had any idea how, or any clue how to turn them off.

He just shook his head with a sigh. So many questions, and odds are, he'd still get no answers even if he asked. For now, he'd go back to observing.

In the time sense the mess hall, Lorella had found herself before too long in a new room. While everyone was mingling amongst themselves, Lorella found herself a large jug of a thing mankind called wine. She was familiar with the substance, having taken it once or twice to dull the senses or to think, particularly when injured. While she wasn’t injured in this case, she needed to think. Sitting against the wall, she began to take sips of the strong beverage, enjoying the tingling sensation as the alcohol entered her bloodstream.

There was much to think about. Here she was, surrounded by creatures she would kill if she was a siren. In a way, she felt unworthy to among them. If they only knew the truth about her, she thought to herself, surely they would kill her in a heartbeat. She had killed their kind, landfolk and triton. She had devoured a man’s flesh. Her life was one of violence. There was no end to it. You either killed the others for food, or they rose up and killed you.

She took another swig from the jar, completely lost in her thoughts. In the past, she had liked to try and delude herself that she wasn’t responsible for the horrors she had committed. It was them: the tritons, the land folk. It was their fault for hunting sirens and trying to kill them. It was easier that way, to blame someone else for her actions. Now though, faced with the changes of life, she realized how heavy was the weight of her horrors.

Perhaps, Lorella realized with another swig, this was her chance at redemption. An opportunity to redefine herself, to do it right this time. A chance for her to become something different, someone different. Someone better than she was. Already she had felt herself falling upon old habits earlier with that woman in the back, plotting her vengeance. How foolish Lorella’s old self was. Now, more than any time, was a chance to not the let the actions of the past drag her down. The gods had offered her one chance to atone: a clean slate. She intended to make the most of it.

It was then that Lorella came out of her thoughts as the doors opened. So entered Vis holding the body of Katarina. It was as if it were a sign from the gods: redeem for your thoughts from earlier. Prove you will become better.

With another swig of her drink, Lorella navigated across the room to the woman, going down to her knees beside her cot, drink still in hand. The woman, whose name Lorella did not know, seemed in a great deal of discomfort and pain. “I’ma hereeeeee to help,” Lorella said with a hiccup. “Thhisssss liqquiddd well halp wiht da pain.” Though her words were slurred, Lorellla hoped the woman understood her.

Gently, Lorella placed her head behind the woman and lifted it slightly as she put the lip of the jug to the woman’s mouth to pour some of the liquid into her. “Theeeere ya go,” Lorella said as she pulled the jug back from the woman’s mouth after a second. “Hopefullllly tha halps with da pain.” Not knowing what other comforts she could offer the woman, Lorella grabbed her hand, giving her something and someone to hold and squeeze to release the build of pain. Just what was happening to this poor woman?

He blinked. That was all the time he had before Midas realized he was falling. One sentance was all he needed. All he wanted. Hell, one word could have done it...but they couldnt even give him that.

Looking down as he plumited head first to the lake of lava. Why. Why did they have to do this? He just wanted to believe he was safe. Its becoming clear he wasnt. And he hadnt seen a damn thing to make him want to risk that.

As he felt himself submerge, he clenched his teeth, body tense. His body felt the heat, but his mind ignored it. He hadnt seen the others, he hadnt seen them survive. So in that moment, he hought this was his death. When the heat sunk into his bones...he couldnt discribe it. Maybe this was dying. It was almost...peaceful, floating in the molten liquid. It was calming, something Midas hadnt felt since he arrived.

He hadnt even noticed the transformation begin, too lost in his thoughts. But the first thin he felt was his teeth. Sharp, jaggad, and hard. They werent human any longer. The two tusks that had sprouted from his lower jaw were the next thing he felt. The were long. Nearly reaching the top of his head. He couldnt describe how peculiar it felt to have them, yet how right.

As he sank deeper, he felt at his skin. It was rough, like stone. He could feel his hide, thickening, becoming harder. As his claws sprouted he couldnt deny this any longer. This wasnt a dream, as much as he wished it to be. He was not dying. He was alive! He was changing! He had hoped he may wake again in his gutters at home, but as his flesh seemed to turn to stone, he knew he would not wake up. This was real. And as he reached the bottom of the lake, he froze. He was becoming one of them. A dragon.

He leapt, colliding with a wall in the first submerged bound. He dug his claws in deep, before working his way up to the surface. Unlike the others, clearly, he waa unable to swim. As he breached the surface, he became painfully aware of his weight, and groaned. He let his eyes gaze about his burning hide, as molten rock clung to his spines and tusks. His claws only seemed to sink into the stone as he clawed his way up, pulling with all his strength as he came to the cliffs peak, digging in as he struggled to overcome the last edge.

He managed, and gazed at his fellow decendants. He wanted to call them siblings, but he wasnt sure if that was accurate. They seemed to have gained a rather slender, almost beutiful form with glistening fresh scales, while his seemed to be of a beast, with hide of freshly born stone fresh from the worlds magma womb. His eyes, sockets of crimson, landed on eshne, Before he stomped past without a word, his large, clawed tail dragging behind him, his breath ragged with each step before he found a place by the door, and positioned himself to wait.He quickly lost hope for Darrene, as she seemed to fall to worship, as the others had.

Once all of her descendants had returned, she nodded, although sent a glare in Kit’s direction but not speaking as she turned, heading out the door. Once all were through it would close behind them, the heat suddenly vanishing and leaving cool stone behind. “Its a portal.” She would explain as they walked. “So there isn’t a hellscape in the stronghold right now.”

Soon they would arrive back at the room, the door opening enough to let the massive dragons through, clearly a sight to see for everyone else. However as Midas would enter, Eshne would open her mouth to apologize, but upon being ignored, would close it, her lips twisting into a slight frown. Shaking her head she would then turn, leaving the room and continuing down the hallway.

With the first group now returned, Vis would give Katrina one last look before gesturing towards his descendants. “You don’t need to keep referring to me as such.” He would say to Ishnai as they continued, the door the previous group had came from coming into view. Upon pushing through, it would reveal an expansive jungle, although a large pit of mud in the middle. “Please, if you would.” He gestured towards it. “Careful, it is deeper than it looks.”

Unlike everyone else, Katrina wasn’t exactly coherent at the moment due to the sheer pain she was in. Even if being in the large room with everyone else wasn’t the best idea, it was better than bringing her to Nox who would simply try to speed up the transformation and kill her in the process.

When Lorella tried pouring the wine in her mouth, she couldn’t swallow, instead turning her head and doing her best to rid it from her mouth before she drowned. The bitter tasted on her tongue wasn’t making this any easier. By now most of her arms had been consumed with scales, it now snaking its way up her neck with her eyes glowing a rather bright gold with reptilian pupils. The woman didn’t even register the siren beside her, but wasn’t too surprising considering her current state.
