To her this was the only thing that mattered. Always looking for that next hit that momentary moment of....pure bliss. It was incredible and it controlled every part of her. It wasn't always this bad you know? At first all she did was smoke a little weed maybe drink a bit, but soon she realized that wasn't enough. She needed more she needed something she need to be numb. To escape the reality that constantly haunted her. Her childhood wasn't the greatest and could probably be the cause for all this toxic inside of her.

When she was real young her parents died in a violent car crash , having no other options she was forced to live with her wicked uncle. He treated her like a slave forcing her to cook and clean. He beat her but worst of all he would rape her almost every week until she was old enough to leave to run away and never look back. And that's exactly what she did. She ran all the way across the country to California.

At first everything really did seem much better, she was starting to get her life in order starting to forget. But she could never really forget could she? It haunted her keeping her awake night after night tormenting her. No, her only escape was that momentary blissful world. Currently she's addicted to coke, and ecstasy, but she uses weed for the come down, though she never really stays down for long.

She was 22 whe she met him, boy how he changed her life. She actually had a reason to want to wake up in the morning and every night she could almost find peace in his arms....almost. He was everything she had ever dreamed from when she was a child, strong, yet gentle, smart, yet fun. He took care of her and always cleaned her up and brought her back when she went to far. He cared, and he married her. Though lately it's been getting worse. Sometimes he just can't find her, somerimes she just can't find herself.

Today seemed to be one of thoose days. Demi sat on the floor in the middle of their living room with a blunt between her fingers. She flicked it into the ash tray before taking another hit. She set the blunt down then leaned forward, in front of her lay a tray full of cocaine, she snorted a big line, before standing up and hiding the tray away. She sat back down and stared at the door anxiously, he should be home any minute now. And he would know, he always knew. She picked the blunt back up and pressed it between her lips inhaling the sweet smoke deeply.

Jack's headache was getting worse with every passing second as he was driving home. Today has been another shitty day at work, his boss's hatred for him was growing up rapidly and she was dumping all the worst jobs at him, and she made it very clear that he'll get nowhere in his career. He really liked being a reported, especially at a good magazine like the one he's currently in. Even though this was what he always wanted to do he was starting to really hate it. And he probably needed to start to look for a better paying job, his salary now wasn't nearly enough to cover up for himself and his wife.

His thoughts then quickly turned towards Demi, the woman he chose and loves with all his heart. He could still remember the day he met here, to him she was the most beautiful woman his eyes ever saw. Her blonde hair and beautiful eyes captivated him. She is amazing and he enjoys every moment with her... Atleast the ones when she's sober enough to realize that he's there talking to her. Ever since they got married he vowed to himself that he'd help her quit. That he'll do everything he can to help her forget her past and look to the future. That he would become her escape, instead of the poison she religiously adores.

But as hard as he tried it was never really enough, he was never a man who would ever give up and he wasn't going to start now. But with each passing day he was starting to feel trapped. Between how he's treated at work and his failure with his wife, he felt like he was sinking into a deep dark hole and there was nothing there to save him. He needed to do something to change his mood, he thought about taking Demi for dinner at a nice restaurant. He smiled at the idea, they both probably need it.

On his way home he stopped and bought some coffee, getting Demi her favorite. A few minutes later he parked his car in their garage and headed for the door. He opened it and shouted. "Honey I'm home." It was easy enough to notice his wife, she was sitting on the floor in the living room. He smiled as he started walking towards her. "I've brought some." Then he stopped as he inhaled the smell of the blunt for a second, then continued. "coffee." When he finally got to her he kissed her then sat down beside her. "So... whatcha doing, how was your day?" Then he sighed. "Before you decided you needed to smoke." He felt a little angry but he never let it show.

Demi bit her lip nervously and quickly out the blunt out. She smiled at her loving husband and kissed him back. Really how could she have gotten so lucky? He adores her and wants nothing but the best for her but all she ever is is a burden. She could tell that even though his face didn't show it he was disappointed in her, and that broke her heart. She really hated that.

"Oh well my day it was lovely, up until my aunt called. We had an argument and that kindve turned things upside down. I tried to take a nap but I kept having some bad dreams." The last part she mumbled softer she hated that she was always such a hasle. Always depressed and needy, she couldn't understand for the life of her why she stayed. You know she still remeber how she felt when he proposed. Shocked surprised excited she could barely contain her emotions.

"How was your day hinny?" She asked gently caress his face. She moved closer so that she was sitting between his legs her back pressed against his firm hard chest, his strong arms wrapped tightly around her. She missed this while he worked so much.

As she sat infront of him he kissed the back of her head as he wrapped his arms around her. "I'm sorry about your aunt, I swear that woman's job is to ruin a good day." He had a sad expression on his face as she asked him about his day and he was glad she couldn't see it. He wanted to tell her about what was going at work, and how he's being over-worked, he needed to tell her. But this will probably just add another weight on her and that's the last thing she really needed. "Good. My... My day was good."

As he held her in his arms he couldn't help but feel happy and safe, even though he was a little angry that she still depends on drugs instead of leaning on him, she was the best thing in his life. "Honey talk to me, what's going on. We were fine for a while, sometimes a few months passed before you used drugs. But now you're getting deep in again. I'm... I'm sorry I know I haven't been at my best the past few days, I'm not there for you enough." He finished with a sigh. Ofcourse he knew what was troubling her and knew what she was always trying to escape from. He could never ever begin to imagine how horrible it was.

Demi looked down and bit her lip, he was right. She didn't want him blaming himself though it wasn't his fault. Though she did miss him while he was away she knew he had to go, it wasn't like she worked, she could never keep a job.

"I don't know why you stay with me, " she began sadly. "All I ever am is a burden to you a problem to fix and take care of." She said her voice soft barely above a whisper. A tear came to her eyes followed by another and soon there was a steady silent stream flowing.

She hated that she couldn't just be happy with him, he was the greatest guy in the world. He made her feel safe and wanted and loved. She was so loved by him she couldn't comprehend it. "You should just leave me while you still can, I'm poison." she added pulling away from him and resting her head on her knees.

He slowly wiped the tears from her face with the back of his hand as he started saying. "Why do I stay? You know how these damn poisons you keep taking are your escape... Well you are my escape. You should realize by now that you're the most important thing in the world to me. And I love you very much." He then took her hand and kissed it. "And I will never give up on us." He then smiled. "Besides, I'm addicted to your poison now."

"Speaking of poison, I'm starving. How about we go out for dinner tonight? go to a fancy restaurant and waste half my salary there so we could eat some high-class shitty food and have some fun?" He then kissed her hand again. "But if you're not feeling like it it's totally fine, I'll go buy some take-away food." He then whispered in her ears as he laughed. "Or you can get off your ass and make us some of your famous burnt burgers."

  1. She giggled at him with bright eyes and a smile on her face. "I love you too" she said before gently kissing his hand."Going out sounds great, no where too fancy thou, you work so hard for me already my love." She said to him before crawling around behind him and beginning to rub his tense shoulders.

"But first let me help you relax a little, and my burgers are not that burnt!" She laughed squeezing a little tight before going back to deeply rubbing his tight shoulders. She could feel all the knots and knew he needed this before anything. He was such a good husband never complaining, how did she get so blessed. She leaned down and kissed his cheek softly and lovingly. He was her best friend.

"Nah I wanna go real fancy tonight. There the restaurant that I've always wanted to try out and this seems like the prefect chance." Then he relaxed as she started rubbing his shoulders. "Oh my God, yes. They've been sore all day, thank you baby." then he yelped as she squeezed his shoulders for his burger comment. "Ouch, alright, lets call them a little too well-done then." He said giggling.

He then reached for the coffee he brought and grabbed his. "Your coffee is getting cold, I've brought your favorite." His headache has started to slowly calm down. He started to forget all the shitty things that happened at work and feeling calm and happy again. Even his anger about her using again began to subside. "You gave the best massage in the world did I ever tell you that." He said as he took a big sip from his coffee.

She giggled at him and smiled knowingly she did know. She reached down with one hand and grabbed her coffee before taking a sip. Mmmm that was perfect, he knew her so well. She continued to rub his shoulders working out the chunky knots hiding underneath his shoulder blades. She continued on like this rubbing his shoulders and drinking her coffee another 30 minutes before rubbing his arms.

"Ok we can go where ever my love wants, I'm going to get ready I have the perfect dress I've yet to wear." She said smiling at him before getting up she took her coffee and disappeared down the hall and into their bedroom. She paused for a moment looking at herself in the mirror, she definitely needed a pick me up. She peeked down the hallway before disappearing deeper into the bathroom and quickly grabbed her precut up stash and taking a generous sniff. She then tucked it away and checked her nose in the mirror before beginning to wash her face.

She walked over to there closet and grabbed a red pin up style dress that still had the tag on. She tore the tags off before sliding off her current pjs and sliding on the red dress. She put lotion on her legs and arms then went back to the bathroom. She pulled out her makeup and just did it simply with eyeliner and mascara and a little gold shadow. She then twisted her blonde waves into a messy bun held in place by chopsticks. She finished her face off with a red gloss, before exiting the bathroom and returning to the closet for some black kitten heels. She slid them on her feet then grabbed her purse checking herself one last time in the mirror.

He smiled when she said she had a perfect dress for the occasion. Her smile filled him with happiness, and he was glad he could change her mood. "Sounds good, can't wait to see it." He called out after her as she left. He then took a few sips of the coffee as he lost himself in thought for a little while. He was looking at the floor when suddenly his eyes focused on traces of something white on the floor near him. He put down his coffee and leaned closer to get a better look. They were very tiny traces of a while powder. He scratched his finger over it then raised it. It wasn't very hard to guess what this white powder was. "God damn it Demi." He said as he brushed his finger against his thumb to get rid of the white powder.

He started walking to the bedroom while taking deep calming breaths. He wasn't going to allow anything to ruin the nice night he was about to have with her. He peaked his head from the door and looked at her. She looked magical, with the amazing red dress that fit her perfectly, and her beautiful blonde hair that was in a bun. He walked into the room and said. "Who the hell are you? What have you done to my wife?" He said jokingly as he approached her and kissed her. "You look amazing." He then headed to the bathroom and started washing his face and hand. "You now have me at a disadvantage, none of my dresses can match yours." He called out from the bathroom teasingly.

She giggled as he complimented her a red blush rushing to her cheeks. It hardly mattered how many times he complimented her or even looked at her it always felt as good as it did the first time. "Oh I'm sure any dress on you would be absolutely perfect." She teased him with a grin on her face. She energetically came up behind him and gave him a trail of kisses along his neck. "I miss you." She whispered softly in his ear before gently nibbling on it then leaving it with a kiss.

She smiled to herself then walked out of the bathroom and down the hall to the kitchen, there was her other best friend a small pomsky named Lulu her fluffy fur was brown and white and she yipped happily as she spotted Demi. She bent down and pet the soft dog loving her companion dearly. Lulu was probably the second person and yes Demi considered Lulu to be a person, tha kept Demi sane and alive.

After he was done with the bathroom Jack went to the bedroom and put on a suit that Demi bought for him not too long ago. He checked himself in the mirror making sure he looked good. This is another reason why he was glad Demi was around, he never had any fashion sense what so ever and she was his savior in that department. After he was done with everything he went down and headed for where Demi was standing with Lulu.

"Oh here is my competition." He said as he grabbed Lulu and patted her back gently. "How are you doing you little monster." He then looked at Demi. "Are you ready to go baby?" He asked as he put Lulu down and went to the living room to grab his keys. "I'll be waiting in the car." He exited the house and headed for the car. Opened the driver seat and sat down, started the car then sat. Waiting. His mind went back to the traces of cocaine he found. He thought that she had quit that a good while ago but she probably have been using behind his back. He leaned his head against the back of the chair and closed his eyes, waiting for her.

Demi bit her lip as he exited it was almost as if he wanted her to do more while he waited, she rushed back into the bathroom grabbing the addicting powder and snorting two lines up each side she then checked her self in the mirror making sure there was no trace left on her face. As she exited the bathroom she grabbed his favorite perfume and sprayed it on her to rid herself of the marijuana smell. She then walked hurriedly out to the car slowly down once she got to the door. She grabbed a black coat then walked out and got into the passenger side.

She smiled at him ,"Ok I'm ready, you go into tell me where we are going?" She asked him happily. It wasn't often that they went out but when they did it was always wonderful assuming she didn't mess everything up by getting to fucked up. She sighed sadly and looked out the window, she did that far too much.

"Well I was gonna keep it a surprise. We're gonna be eating some fancy seafood at that big-ass restaurant by the lake. It has a very romantic view and from what I hear, some pretty good food." He said as he started the car. He then started driving away at a moderate speed. "You do like seafood right?". As he stopped on a streetlight he looked at her. "I'm thinking about maybe taking tomorrow off. You know, get a chance to have the whole day together. Been a long time since we had that."

As the light turned green he went on. It took the about 15 minutes to finally arrive and ha parked the car in the restaurant's parking and stepped out of the car. He went to the other side and opened her door with a bow. "You're highness." He said with a smile. He then turned around and looked at the place. It was a very fancy restaurant with top-notch decorations. "This place is gonna kick my wallet's ass." He remarked as he put his arm around her and walked with her towards the restaurant.

She smiled at him and shook her head, her heels making a click clack on the pavement. "You know I love seafood silly, and I told you it didn't have to be this fancy!" She said nudging him a little but glad he picked this place. Truth was she had heard rest things about it and had been dying to try it but didn't want to ask him on account of the price. She inhaled deeply as they walked inside, the pleasant scent of lobsters and salmons greating her nostrils. This place looked incredible and smelled even better. She couldn't wait to taste the food.

A hostess came over and asked how many in their party. "Two" she replied happily with her arm looped around her husbands waist. The girl nodded and grabbed two menus leading them over to a table by the window with a fantastic view and a lovely little candle and single rose. She smiled as her husband pulled out her chair, always the gentlemen. A few moments later their server came up and introduced herself. "Hi I'm Katie I'll be your server tonight can I get you two started off with so,e wine?" She asked smiling. Demi immediately nodded, " I'll take a glass of your house white." She said before looking at her husband. At least one good thing about her was that she could mostly hold her liquor, unless it was tequila tequila made her mean.

"I'll take some strong red wine please, Katie" He said as he flashed her a wide smile. He then looked at the amazing view infront of the restaurant. The river looked amazing. "Man, this is some awesome view. Very romantic." He then turned his attention to Demi. "Have you told you how pretty you're looking tonight yet?" He said as he got lost in her eyes for the thousandth time. "So about me taking the day off tomorrow, what do you think?" he said as he grabbed the menu and scanned it. "I think I'll go for some shrimps and sushi. What would you like?"

Demi smiled at him and nodded before looking over the menu. "I think that's a fantastic idea." She said. Her eyes traced over all the dinner entres before deciding on what she wanted. "I think I'll have the New York steak with the grilled shrimp." She smiled up at him and gazed out the window. Wow it sure was breath taking. The lights shine across the water, which had a water show playing along with the soft music playing in the background, it sounded almost, French?

This was incredible perfect. She looked back at her husband and studied his face. He was so handsome with a. Strong jaw and chiseled face, he was perfect. She gazed at him loving completely unaware that Katie had returned with their drinks. She looked up at her then watched as she placed the glasses down and began to turn away. "Um, Katie I think we are ready to order." She spoke a. little louder so that she could be heard. Katie immediately turned around with a smile, " Of corse what are you having?" She asked the couple smiling while pulling out her notepad and pen. "I will have the steak and shrimp with the steak medium please." She said smiling before taking a sip of her wine.

Looking at Katie Jack ordered the sushi and shrimps and thanked her with another smile. He then took a sip from his wine. "Oh Jesus, this is some heavy stuff." He laughed as he sat it down. He was glad when Demi ordered some white wine, because he knew that that was something she could handle, there were times when they would go out or be at somebody's place and she would just lose it. And she's really hard to handle at that point, one time he had to carry her all the way to the car.

He took another sip from his wine. "I'm thinking about looking for a new job with better pay. We get by fine with my current salary but that's all we'll be doing. It's not a dream big salary and I don't think it's gonna be increasing any time soon." He then looked into her eyes. "And I was thinking that maybe you should get a part time job too. Nothing much, maybe 15 or 20 hours a week. It's not because we need money but I'm thinking that maybe it'll be a good change from staying at home all day, maybe take your mind off things. The worst part of my everyday life is when I leave you in the morning, so maybe if you had something to do and entertain yourself you'll be happier. Or you can join a club or play a sport." He finished as their food arrived.

Demi's eyes furrowed as he made his request, he knew that was a horrible idea. She looked down and bit her lip, "You know what has happened in the past it never works out and I'm a,ways embrassed." She explained to him before looking up. She looked up at her wine and took a generous gulp almost finishing the glass. She looked over at Katie locking eyes before pointing at her glass for another, the waitress nodded and went to retrieve it. She then looked back at him, "If you really want me to try I will, I know this dinner was a trick! "She teased before standing up. "I'm going to run to the bathroom." She said before standing up and grabbing her purse.

She turned and walked away before he could respond, she definitely needed another hit after hearing that. Was he crazy?! Her? Work?! Nothing about that sounded like a good idea, nor did it sound as if it would be any good for her. She made her way to the bathroom and locked her self into a stall sitting on the seat before fishing through her purse to find her container. She pulled out her mirror and lined up four lines identical next to each on the mirror, she then pulled out her straw and sniffed two up each side. She wiggled her nose before carefully returning all the items to her purse. She exited the stall and washed her hands before checking her nose and wiping away any evidence. Once satisfied with her appearance she walked back out and made her way over to her husband.

"Honey I'm not trying to force anything on you, I'm merely suggesting that maybe a little chance would make you a little happier." He said sincerely. But as she stood up and said her comment about this dinner being a trap and walked away to the bathroom he sighed deeply. No, this dinner was not a trap, he never even planned on suggesting this but as he was talking about getting himself a new job it occured to him. He looked at at the bathroom door which she entered a grip of sadness caught him in it's clutches. He knew exactly why she went there. The second she hears any suggestion about responsibility or having fun with activity she rushes for her damn drugs.

He took a big sip from his wine glass finishing it then asked Katie to bring another one for him. He then rubbed his forehead and eyes with his fingers, not knowing what to really do. He did a good job of ruining his wife's mood but he just couldn't help hoping that maybe she would listen. A few minutes later Demi exited and started walking towards there table. As she sat down he grabbed her hand and kissed it. "I'm sorry baby, I didn't really mean to ruin this for you. Just forget about what I said and lets enjoy the rest of the dinner." He kissed her hand again then ate a few bites from his dinner. "Man this food does stand up to it's reputation."

She smiled at him and agreed not responding but instead eating. She savor end every bite glad he had made such a suggestion, she really needed the night out and she was sure he did as well. Every bite was like a step through heaven the butter like steak melting on her tounge. The shrimp tasted even better, obviously cooking in some sort of basil garlic wine sauce. This was nice she thought before looking out the window.

She looked up at her husband and studied his face, he was so handsome. And so kind, always taking the best care of her giving her anything she ever wanted or needed. Except maybe drugs, she knew ithurt his heart, but she really just couldn't stop herself, she needed the reality escape, and she needed it often.

She continued eating in silence for a while enjoying her food before taking a sip of wine. She looked up again and smiled brightly. "This was a great idea Hunny thank you, really. " she said before grabbing his hand and kissing his fingers.
