Fantasy Business of Death IC

"I just listen to the voices in my head, what's so wrong about that?"

latest

Damien both hated and loved training, as well, it brought up some more than painful memories. And some horrifying and terrifying emotions that he hated to bring up. It was . .. The Memory of when his parents died. Right in front of him. By none other than some crazy Anti-Reaper, as his Grandpa had said.

He stopped training, punching the ground as it broke below him. "Dammit." he muttered under his breath, sweat all over his body. He looked up finally, after his Mentor had stopped speaking, and stood up slowly. "I swear to the Gods . . . When I get stronger, when I finally begin her training or whatever . . . I'm going to go up to Hades, and fuck, his, shit, up."

He wrapped his scarf around his neck, walking forward without a word.

Lily stared distractedly at Damien, watching how he furiously swung his scythe around. Well. He had spunk. She'd give that to him. She wondered what his story was....by the looks of it, the kid had lost a lot. She wasn't going to go on some big regime to figure out what it was, and why, but she wanted to help this kid achieve his goal even more now. She wanted to help both of these kids.

Because, despite her reputation saying differently, Lily cared. She had no apathy for the success of these kids, and damn right they would achieve their goals. She covered herself with her cloak even more.

What had she been doing? She needed to stop selfishly thinking about the man who'd died and move forward. Cheech would want it. It would gain Jasper's attention.

A warm feeling hit the woman's cheeks when she remembered Jasper. The many times they had ditched parties to go do something else, their shared weight on their shoulders, the inside jokes, the puppy love they shared when they were kids....

....Did he remember that?

Clearing her throat awkwardly, Lily flipped through her book, and, finding another group death, she announced;

"Mmkay. There was a shootout in Harlem two hours ago. Twelve are dead, six injured. Let's roll."

Lora looked up from the reaping performed by Genevieve. It was slow, but certainly a kind way to send off the dead. A staff was an unconventional weapon for a reaper; then again, so were Lora's manriki.

Loretta could clearly see Genevieve's lack of training, but she did have potential and a style that showed how much she had watched others perform these rituals. Lora wouldn't have simply told the soul that they were dead. Then again, for the southerner it was all or nothing. She would send a spirit off immediately or talk to them for hours on end, hearing stories and learning the lessons of life.

Lora took a deep breath before pacing over where Damian was walking, "It looks like it's time for us to go. Just from today, I can tell you know what you're doing, so let's make this interesting while it lasts. It will be a pleasure working with you, Mr. Death."

She meant what she said, too. Lora knew the kid was a skilled fighter already, but he had a lot of natural talent as a reaper from what she had seen. It was a shame that that skill was primarily destructive, but if that was the nature of things, that was that. As she thought before, the boy was going to bring a crazy sort of interesting. Loretta could only hope that this didn't interfere with her own training in any way.

Lora nodded to Lily, "Of course, Miss Underworld. Is there anything you want us to do, specifically while we're there?"

The twenty-four year old aptly waited for her mentor's words. Whatever Lily said now would be taken to heart. Lora coiled her scythe around her arm to prepare for travel once again. If Lora was lucky, she may get to see a mass reap come out of this situation.

Jenna nodded a bit at her mentor's criticism... She knew that already. It was just a bit... Difficult, to use her specific death scythe quickly, especially since she hardly had any training at all. "... Alright, noted..." She said simply, trying to ignore her own mental chastising as she simply collapsed her scythe into a much smaller, much easier to manage staff.

Genevieve frankly hated messing up in any way, but... Well, she was just a trainee, so it was alright, right? She... Couldn't be completely perfect right off the bat. That wasn't possible. She shouldn't... Honestly, she was just trying to assure herself it was alright.

But, before those thoughts could get too bad, Lily spoke. Another job to do? That was good, right? Well, it was sort of good... Good for the trainees, anyway, but not so good for the victims. She quickly shook her head to refocus herself.
"Harlem? Alright!"

Dimitri was standing idly by, observing the scene. The hotheaded boy Damien had walked off to blow off some steam, which meant training. Dimitri knew that boy would be trouble. Arrogant, cocky, brash and reckless; those kinds of people never lasted long on the streets. Well, in the streets of Moscow. If you didn't play your cards right, you may end up with no cards at all.

Dimitri's attention refocused to Lily, who had an assignment ready for them. He noticed her slight embarrassment and warmed cheeks, as if she had remembered something pleasant and awkward at the same time. Nevertheless, he approached her, ready and steady as could be.

"Ah, of course. It's completely alright with me if we need to make a small side trip... Especially if it's to avoid a violation. I'd also quite like to see that band," Jasper smiled, nodding. "Jazz is one of my favorite genres, after all. So, shall we go?"

Jasper did, however, take another quick look at his little black book, paranoid about missing jobs... Especially as sitting through a three-hour lecture did not sound appealing, since that would be what would happen if he did get another violation.

"Well let's get going then. I do apologise in advance if it's rather quite while we walk. I'm not really one for conversation." She said as she started to head out the door. Taking a deep breath of the New York air she started to head in the direction of her apartment, humming a song she had heard on the radio not to long ago. Something about shapes of people if she remembered correctly.
