@Slaughterized omg, they are so similar! Maybe they could have gotten 'scouted' into the school by a supervisor of some kind? Since neither of them have any sort of education to speak of, they could get placed into a refresher class? I'd be more than happy making the scouters CS, if that's required to make this canon.

Backstory: Rebecca had a difficult life. She was constantly failing at school and her mother has terminal lung cancer, so any money coming into the house goes to her treatments. In order to try and sustain herself and her mother, Rebecca began stealing and pick pocketing at 13. Unfortunately, on her last spree, the store alarm went off and security began chasing after her. While she was being handcuffed, she began to have a panic attack, which caused her powers to be triggered. There was an explosion. Two buildings burned down and 50 people were killed. When Rebecca came home crying in shock and with burned clothes, her mother sent her to Brookheart.

Backstory: Gabriel was given up when he was born along with his twin sister to a young couple, Mark and Rachel, who couldn't have kids. As they both grew older, things seemed normal between him and his sibling but his adoptive parents always complained how he made them feel exhausted and became more and more cold towards him. When he was 15, he was fighting with them and Mark punched him. The anger he felt caused a trigger to completely drain the energy from a person and he caused Mark to pass out as soon as he placed his hand on Mark's chest. That night he was kicked out and began living with some of his friends. He made sure to keep his distance in case he couldn't control it. Ever since then he has needed to pull some energy from someone to live.

She grabbed the arm of her friend and felt the energy leaving her. It helped her friend's injury heal slightly which caused her to survive. She is able to help her brother because she has the extra energy she can give off when he does not have enough, but when she uses a lot it leaves her drained.
