Ok so how are we going to get this to work?
we can establish a relationship in the rp either soon or later on where lian pretty much bosses him around if he's willing to let himself be stepped on and pushed around like that, if that's okay with you? like i imagine, if he's complacent with whatever it is she says (or is just too scared to say something) lian'll just want him around for him to agree with what she says

then... we can let it bubble and we have some nice fights set up for the future, if u know what i mean ;^)

Hmm, I feel like either the times are off or the teacher's going way too easy on them. I mean, every fight in the show only lasted a couple minutes, even fights between equally strong opponents. Yet we've been watching a dragon fight three students for half an hour already :O

That sounds great, and luckily, I thought of how it could start. Maybe Lián's upcoming argument with Riba somehow ends up with her asking someone next to her if she's right with her being on a higher level than everyone else, that person being Duriander, who agrees with her to avoid conflict, and then starts the relationship. That is one way to do it, but I think Lian is too proud to ask others for help.

Time can be tricky sometimes, so that's probably it. Also, the fight has been going on for only 9 minutes so far.
Also, if the teacher simply stomped the students, that wouldn't be much of a show :v

Good rule of thumb is most any post is only go to up the time by 1 minute. If you think of what you do in real life you can do a LOT of stuff in 60 seconds. Just act out any of the posts and you can do most of them within a single minute, especially since a lot of them are simply talking. So realistically it's probably only been like 2-3 minutes so far.

That would be pretty good. I'll try doing that, but since it's not an official rule, it can be quite tricky.

Sure, sounds like a good plan. It may take me a bit to respond though. As I said earlier, my laptop is dead/nearly dead and the charger is at my mom's house. I'll be able to respond on Sunday, at least.

Actually, the majority of the fights took waaaaaay longer than they seem to be. This isn't cannonically stated, but if you take into account:
1. That anime that visual mediums usually only have a couple hours at most to work with, so they have to fit in whole days into the space of a few minutes, AKA accelarating time by narrowing it down to the important parts is common pratice.
2. That you could not reasonably expect students to make it out of arenas of the size we are shown, some of which involved mazes or teachers blocking the gates in less than half an hour, yet we see plenty of fights that end at or near the time limit (off the top of my head, Tusyu's, mineta's and Kaminari's)
3. When a fight does end faster, this is aknowledged, like when Iida threw the tail guy, and it was "a little forced".
So the fights in the show did take longer than what they let on.

Furthermore, unlike those midterm exams, the fights are mandatory here. There is no "escape gate" to cross, and no "hand cuffs". Just a plain fight.
