"It was." Ozzy said before he started to cry. "I-I don't know why he would just throw 'us' away like that. He-he told me that he cared about me. But apparently he's like every other man I've had in my life. A complete liar!" Ozzy wiped the tears from his cheeks and looked back at Val. "Jack was one of my only friends when I first moved to San Francisco where I grew up. He was one of the only kids that didn't tease me because I was gay. I-it got to a point where I almost killed myself because of it. I-I overdosed on sleeping pills and was on the floor when my dad found me in the bathroom. While I was in the hospital, Jack visited me everyday, telling me about school and helping me with my homework. A few years later, freshman year of high school, he came out and told me that he loved me." Oscar gave a faint smile as he remembered how good things were. "He gave me my first kiss that day too. I finally started to feel happy. Sophomore year he gave me the promise ring, and he took my virginity that night. I-I really loved him, Val. We were planning on living together when we graduated. But then, one day after I got accepted to Harvard, I came home to see him fucking some girl I never even knew. Apparently he had been screwing her since day fucking one and I was too fucking stupid to see it. So I went home took my gun and almost just shot myself in the head. Luckily I decided against it, packed up my things, bought the first plane ticket to anywhere, and here I am."
