Before the Worst

"But they're not - oh whatever,"

Darren gave up on arguing as he watched Evan avoid the attack. "Ok. That...that's pretty sweet," he said in awe as he watched the other boy manipulate the fire and defeat his second opponent. "Two down, one to go," he called out, stretching as he did so to prepare for their little match at the end of the session.

The momentum that Evan had fighting his other opponents didn't falter. He took no time in imoblizing his opponents arms and legs before he had a chance to use his generated powers. He then flung the aim out of sight. "Okay, big guy. Let's make a wager. I'm good....like really good. So, if you lose, you have to admit you like me." Evan said, cocking one eyebrow. The wicked gleam in his eye was fueled by his compulsion to hear Darren say it. Even if once. He had to feel the burning on his skin again--feel Darren want him again. It was too addicting. The urge cried out for him, and Evan was willing to oblige on this one.

"It's not an admission if it's not true...fine," he agreed, shaking his head. Evan may have been confident, but Darren had eons more experience.

"Bring it, ginger," he said, letting the power flow through his veins. There was no way he was saying what Evan wanted him to say. At least, not out loud. He snapped a kick toward Ev's abdomen, not using his full force in order to stay balanced.

"Oomphf!" The kick was hard enough to knock Evan into a back flip. He frowned, knowing that he was going to have to beat the truth out of his friend. He threw a punch at Darren's midsection, accompanied by a laugh. "You're gona pay for.calling me a ginger." He yelled.

"Heh."

Darren snorted, catching Evan's hand by the wrist, zapping him as he did so before using the other boy's momentum to swing him to the other side. "Looks like the only thing I'll be paying for are hospital bills," he shot back, looking at him pointedly. "Don't put all your weight into one blow, If you miss, you leave yourself wide open. Come on Ev, hit me with some of that telekinesis," he added, waiting for him.

Evan grimaced at the Feral. He was obviously not gonna make this easy for him, so there was no reason to hold back. He picked up a run, focusing hard on lifting himself off the ground. It happened in mid step-- everything clicked into place. His powers, hus concentration. In mid-step, he kicked up into the air. Wobbling for only a second, he straightened out and bee-lined for Darren. Ev's fist extended and he felt the power reach around the extremity--like an exposed muscle of brute power. Upon impact with his friend, a boom shattered the glass in the room.

Darren flew backwards and into the wall, the back of his head actually making a dent. "Ahh. Ow." He rubbed the spot, blinking in surprise as the wound healed and he got to his feet. "That. That was...amazing," he admitted, brushing himself off and grinning. "But I'm not giving up yet," he added, waiting for Evan to come at him again, and this time he was ready.

Evan ran at Darren with full force, then kicked off again. This time he used a barrage of kicks to break the man's defense and try to open him up. With every kick, a small flash of fire kicked up only to be countered by a spark of electricity.

Darren, taking advantage of fighting Evan in the air, managed to slide under him and thrust his hands into the other boy's chest, administering a strong shock through the skin of his hands as he did so. He moved out of the way quickly, knowing it wouldn't stall him for long, and used the time to charge his powers in his palms, ready to shoot at Evan.

Evan flew back, only slightly affected by the electric current. He smiled as he flicked his hand out at Darren, lifting the mutant with all of his strength. "I can hear you, loserface." He laughed.

"Well that's just f*****g peachy," Darren growled. He realized that he only enjoyed flying when he was in a certified form of aircraft...

Shooting his energy at the ground to propel him upwards and out of Evan's mental grip, he wavered for a few seconds before landing on the ground gracefully. Realizing that thinking rationally made him completely predictable, he tapped into the wolf's mind, going on a bit more of the animal's instinct than his own tatical reasoning. He decided to forgo his original plan, deciding it would be easier to fight Ev from a distance.

Darting to the left, he lashed out with both his hands, the energy acting like two crackling blue whips that soared toward Evan's hovering form.
