Nation Building BeckonCall's Fantasy Nation-building RPG thread

I think we can amicably resolve the Theater district dilemma with some diplomacy. The Highborn should be arriving there and we can IC smooth out any misunderstandings that might arise and find a way to divide it up. Assuming the Attolians IC accept this, we can find a suitable place for the Nylor to settle. The Attolians, Highborn, VIctorians and Nylor can begin to rehab the area and make the ruins both safe and livable. We can have a satellite learning center there to help each other learn each others languages since the ones the Tyren founded is far away. Is that reasonable to you Heyitsjiwon Heyitsjiwon Zaltusinel Zaltusinel ?

lmao and hitting myself at the same time Heyitsjiwon Heyitsjiwon Prince Vaethorion Prince Vaethorion

Accidentally closed my discord browser and none of the 3 invite links ive clicked to get back in work! On my communist school laptop so joining the server is painful, have to do it in weird ways. Sorry for dissapearing! Thats why x3

Everyone Everyone

Letting the people in the OOC thread know that once I get to the bottom of order process, I am going to ask everyone to re-commit their labor pools to standing tasks and guilds.

This is for a few reasons:

1) for recent guilds like glassmakers, archeologists, and performers guilds to have an opportunity to get participation to strengthen/establish them

2) Commitment to guilds may change control (dominant faction) of certain guilds which may give newer players an option to assert influence, or older players to hold onto it!

3) Making sure everybody's math is tight given all that is going on. More than one player has been tagged (silently) for over-reaching on labor -- if you commit more workers then you have output will increase in the short term, but you will start to exhaust your labor pool.

UNRELATEd

If the Reinen do not return shortly, they will join the labor pool. Members of the labor pool can be motivated to tasks with wealth and influence. (wealth going to NPCs typically winds up in the market, so people with leverage at market might find this doubly interesting) In addition to this I will (like a guild) keep track of the labor pool and there might be interesting events with the acculturation and assimilation of playerless factions.

Hey everybody! had a lot of entertaining to do this weekend so I've done more reading than posting. Expect at earliest opportunity (soon) for all orders pending to be processed soon -- albeit possibly with a little less elegance than regular perhaps after which there will be some book-keeping.

I am grateful to all my players!

It seems Our Night elf player has opted to leave the game -- It was not discussed with me prior but they off-ramped themselves tidily enough.

Out of nowhere taking your ball and going home unless you're "asked to come back" is not the way I roll at the playground. I invest a great deal of love and care in all the people I play with, and I cannot afford to make bad investments. With two factions inactive on top of the Aymarans it can only mean speedier process and more attention for everyone else, and who knows, maybe other players once we get a grip on the new pace.

This game exists for love of Drama, but not for love of "drama" -- that is all I'll say about that, and all I'd like to see about it going forward. Making more drama will only hurt the game, and nobody wants that.

Most respectfully,

-Beck <3

Zaltusinel Zaltusinel give it a rest for now. Let him have a cooling off period, -as myself and other players have suggested. Now you Are coming across like jilted lover turned stalker. I mean no offense by that, but that is how it seems to me.

I don't have your original post to look a because it's seemingly gone, but it seemed in clear prose that several of the Nylor killed themselves and the rest went to the spire and vanished to another dimension. It read like an unmistakable goodbye, adios, ciao, oh, but if you really want me Just let me know and maybe I will come back.

I don't recall reading it as a threat either, but as an action. A simple OOC explanation would have avoided this misunderstanding.

It annoyed me too frankly.

I agree, spamming beck and the rp certainly won't help you.

It's hard balance between taking RPGs seriously, in stride while not taking things too personally. Our characters, our factions, and to Beck's his world are extensions of our selves and egos. Often, I sit on a post, sleep on it and reread it if I think I am being too hasty or overreacting to other players or events. My initial last post was far more strongly worded, presumptuous and potentially offensive. I toned it down and yet I still likely came across as abrasive. That is justifiably in character for High Elves, but I try (not always successfully) to take Beck's and other players reaction in consideration. If not I risk pissing other people off both IC and OOC.
If I insult a faction or a character , I risk insulting an extension of a person. Same goes with my reactions towards the game. Beck is very very fair and passionate person. He puts a lot of love, passion, time and energy into this RPG, so when you flipped over the card table (so to speak) you deeply offended him. He is not unreasonable, but clearly needs time to be less upset.

He might be done with you, or he might give you another chance? Time will tell, but time is the operative word. Give him some time and allow this "drama" to subside.

Wow I just write crap and plan out orders. I shall certainly be taking after your method now. Well said.

:) Improvement, always nice to see. Though keep going though, because even in my age of scatterbrains and occasional idiotic tendencies, you will always have room to improve!

There will certainly have to be null drama for anything further to be addressed. IC drama with the explicit result being OOC drama (as evinced by this talk in the OOC thread hijacking talk about the game and rather talking about... well, drama -- is NOT what ANY game needs. EVER.

I give far too much to beg for my players to come back to me, not trying to be a dick -- that's just a fact. Sometimes you get lucky and you lose a Deth Glitch and get them back -- but the reward for playing my game, is the game we all make for each other. I have no friggin' idea what I witnessed, and I really would rather not steal any more spotlight giving it a center of emphasis.

We can all address this again in a couple of weeks, if a number of people still actually care. Thanks for understanding.

Now that the darkness has past over, let us wallow in the sunshine.

IF I GOT SOMETHING LIKE THIS FROM EVERYONE I'D BE THE HAPPIEST GM IN THE WORLD

So we can have the same person in multiple guilds? Cus I've just been assuming we couldn't. This changes... some things maybe for me... I dunno.

YOU CAN, but it mutes the bonuses...

Mechanically I will give you this -- for a straightforward task (modifiers can change if task is difficult) You'd get a +5 on a d20 if an expert was attached to ONE guild. you'd get +3 if they were attached to 2 guilds, and only +1 if they were attached to three or more. I just felt that experts could have their hands in more than one basket, within reason.

Hey Beck, I wanted to follow up on the Colonial College, is that considered to be a Colonial Project as well and needs a significant amount of time to complete?
