I'm currently taking notes from various role plays I participate in.

"Closed sign up works' mean that you can't participate in the RP anymore. Only the author/creator can close the RP whenever they feel like there's enough characters in the story. If you already signed up for the RP before they closed it, you have nothing to worry about. You still RP with others that signed up beforehand.
