Realistic or Modern Be My Valentine?

Claire watched as the old teacher walked in wearing a floral ankle skirt and a white blouse. Her white hair was pinned messily in a bun. Claire sat back in her seat and ignored every word she said. The teacher then said to partner up with 2 people. "Avery? Jay? Wanna be partners?" Claire asked

Madoxx leans back in his chair and after one last good kick to Dacia's chair, he pulls his hood over his eyes and goes quiet. He needs a nap, school shouldn't start so early.

Avery smiled and adjusted her glasses as the teacher walked in. "Oh boy, it's about time she came in." She giggled and leaned forward, propping her head on her hands. Usually, Avery would pay attention in class but, with the dance coming up, she wasn't really sure what was going to happen. She's never had a date, let alone a boyfriend, so she figured it would just be okay to go alone or not go at all.

Jay simply raised an eyebrow when he saw the teacher come in. If she came at this hour to the class she sure wasn't gonna be strict. He grabs a post-it note and starts writing on it, Hey! We should hang out some time, y'know, at lunch time, don't worry i don't bite.

;) If you want to, of course..He gets up very quietly and sticks the post-it on Avery's desk, then goes back and sits.

Freyja packed her book away and frowned, two people? She barely knew anyone in this class how could she pair up with two people? She groaned and put her head in her palm looking at their teacher. "Why always two?" She whispered.

Taking notes on almost every word the teacher says allows Dacia to go on autopilot. Writing in small neat writing across her notebook pages. She needs this class to be over, she needs to get away from Madoxx and the feeling of dread curling around her spine. She hopes being quiet will spare her the partner detail.

Claire laughed. "He likes you," Claire said loud enough for Jay to hear. Claire cracked up. "You obviously like Avery, huh?" I whisper to Jay. "Anyways, you guys wanna be partners or something?"

Mathematical skills must deteriorate with age - there were ten students in class; was the old lady intending to leave someone out in this group project?

Ethan groused in silence, all the while pretending that he hadn't heard the instructions for partner-seeking and proceeded to create a relevant topic.

Picking up the note Avery read it, then Claire chimed in. "Uh, I mean, I dunno." She said and shrugged. Avery re-read the not that Jay put on her desk. As she began thinking, out of habit she began chewing on the inside of her cheeks. It wasn't normal for this to happen to her, the girl in Drama that, at least she thought no one knew. She then turned to Jay, looked at the note again, adjusted her glasses and nodded her head, agreeing to hang out during lunch.

She looked around and noticed everyone had a group. Everyone but the boy she talked to earlier and the other guy sleeping in his seat. Would the teacher pair them up together? She could hardly start a conversation with people.

"Ok, just don't invite me. But don't worry! I'll be at the next table snooping in on everything," Claire teased. Claire giggled. She wasn't even sure if anyone was doing their group project.

He contemplated on being alone. Really, solitary sounded like the easy way to go through this week, thinking back to that woman at home, though, made him re-think the options.

He was turning eighteen soon. If he could just .. then he'd at least ..

Abruptly standing up to tower the trio in front of him with his 5'9 figure (lanky as he might be), Ethan took it in strides and made his way to the gothic chick he had talked to.

Did they even really talk?

What if she found him weird? What if he wasn't at par with her- oh don't be serious. What else had you spend time on throughout the entire semester - surely not socialising. Yes, yes, working on your grades. Would she mind his heritag-

His train of thought screeched to a halt as he opened his (big, fat) mouth. "Hello. I'm Yamamoto. Ethan Yamamoto. We made a brief engagement earlier in the morning prior to the beginning of class?"

Someone please kidnap my decorum and toss it into the sea.

He gives up on napping with a groan. Sitting up and pulling his hood from his dark hair. He heard the word partners, and looking around he doesn't see anyone he could work with for five minutes with out bashing them over the head. He has very little patience. Madoxx kicks Dacia's chair again to gain her attention.

"Hey...be my partner."

Jay stood up and approached Avery's desk, while passing and sticking his tongue playfully out to Claire. He stood right in front of Avery and leaned forward. ''Wanna be my partner?'' Still smiling at her.

The light was blocked by a figure in front of Avery, she lifted her head to see Jay. He had asked her to be his partner. "Sure." She said and then smiled at him. If this was how the day was going, it was pretty good, maybe, hopefully. 'Alright, Avery, let's not screw this up and be awkward.' Avery thought to herself, it seemed to have been a habit of her awkwardness messing things up.

Freyja looked up at the guy she had conversed with, "U-um..hi, my names Freyja Gotthard. It was certainly an interesting conversation" She smiled slightly and turned to face him. Did he want to partner up with her? She could use this chance to get to know him, if he wasnt just doing it because he had to.

Dacia turns and looks at the boy behind her. His partner? She wants to say no, hell. Never, never, never. Yet when she meets his gaze she feels her body go haywire. She was stupid. Smart, yet so stupid. Dacia stood silently and moved her desk to face his. The stupidest thing she had ever done was develop a crush on Madoxx. even the threat of him crushing her fingers a week ago didn't make the flutter in her chest die. She was doomed.

So far so good.

Despite wanting to break into a puddle of sweat and adrenaline (and maybe just a dose of dopamine), he kept his perfect composure, many thanks to a lifetime of manners training.

"It was pleasant indeed." He seemed to have no problem standing like an awkward stump in front of her table despite the scrutiny of the old lady behind him in the front of the class. "I propose that we delve into a partnership that will benefit us both."

...

"Please." Because chivalry isn't dead just yet. At least, not what he was raised to believe.

He watches her move her desk, making sure she sits back down before reaching down under his seat and grabbing her book from the ground.

Dusting off the pages her snaps it closed and tosses it on her desk.

"Here. Consider it a thank you." he knows his smile is not a nice one and he snorts at her quiet acceptance.

He felt a sense of happiness and accomplishment when she said yes. His cheeks colored a very strong red and he just looked down. ''You're very cute, Avery, i hope to see you later.'' He smiled and scratched his head, he smirked and winked and her then he left to sit down at his desk again, with his face still painted red.

Freyja motioned to the seat next to her, "Your welcome to sit down if you like Ethan. And it would be nice to be partners..I felt bad not getting your name earlier so im glad I have the chance to know it now" Her cheeks burned with the sudden burst of talk. She didnt want to sound to old fashioned it was just the way she was brought up. She hoped he didnt think her a freak.

If snagging seats was an event in the Olympics, he would sweep home gold medals.

Exhaling in relief, he gripped his knees and stared hard at the tabletop. "Do you have a particular interest in mind for the project?"

(What class is this? I vote for Physics/Chemistry/Biology!)

She could feel her cheeks getting red, Jay's compliment was making her blush, of course. Avery then giggled to herself because of how red his face was, it was kind of cute. She loved it when guys got embarrassed, even more so when it's a genuine embarrassment. She then turned and looked at Claire, "Well, this is a surprise. I've never had a guy say I was cute, unless it was on the script of course." Avery whispered to her and then grinned, maybe it was time to start breaking out of her shell and not be so shy with people.

~~

(Any of those sound good to me. I'm leaning more towards Chemistry, lots of experiments! c:)
