  Violin. She started playing it at 4 years old and never stopped. She playes on an 1864 copy of Paganini's Cannone made by Vuillaume.

  Viola. 17 years, on and off. She doesn't enjoy it as much as the violin.
  Piano. She has been playing the piano for 10 years now.
  Cello. She picked this instrument up at the start of her Academy carreer. So she has been playing for 4 yours now.
  Flute. She started playing this about a year ago, and absolutely can not make it work.
  
  What do you wish to achieve in general?
  In general she just wants to have a nice life where she can live comfortable doing what she wants. She likes to travel the world and hopes to be able to do this through her music. Most of all, she hopes to grow old and grey with her best friend and both their partners. Just in harmony.
  
  What do you wish to achieve in music?
  She would love to connect people more with classical music. She likes to show that it is not just for old people. She loves to inspire people to pick up the violin as well.
  Another dream of her is to play have played with at least five different orchestra's all over the world.

  Honestly she doesn't get the whole rivalry. She sees them as talented fellow musicians that just make a different kind of music. However she does feel like there is less skill and talented needed for the modern instruments that for their classical instruments. So, basically she does think the LMA-students are talented, but not as talent as she and her fellow students are. However she does also very much enjoy playing more modern music with her violin, but she would never touch an electric violin. She has no problem with switching to keyboards, though purely for fun, nothing serious.

[/div] Rivals are everywhere. The other school is just a centralized place where many rivals happen to attend. That doesn't mean she takes anyone lightly, but she doesn't have negative feelings toward LMA students. Their talent is different and stems off of the classical teachings she holds dear. That only supports her mindset that they cannot best her since they do not know or embrace their musical roots.

A fine institution itself, certainly be more inclined to join that institute than the RAM if they did operatic music. Nothing wrong with the RAM of course, however music is not about just recogitating the classics. It is about learning many ways and using them to find your own for expression...At least that is what I think.

Keyboard - Despite starting on the keyboard two years before being introduced to the synthesizer, she didn't enjoy this instrument as much. She loved the feeling of creating her sounds from scratch. Drums - She has played drums for seven years yet still has not managed to have mastered it. Vocals - She had tried learning to sing upon entering LMA, but couldn't master the rough style that was beloved by most of the other students.

“Well to start, I’m very driven—very determined. Once I get my mind set on something, I focus on it, and there’s next to nothing that can get my mind off it. I strive for every goal I set until I reach it. For another thing, I’m very clever, very resourceful. I can make something out of almost anything. I made a song with a bucket, a broom, and my dad’s empty whiskey bottle once. I also turned a paper mâché guitar my baby sister made in art class into a semi-functional ukulele. This last one got me in trouble, but I turned the car alarms for the cars on my street into a beat for a rap song when I was going through that God-awful phase. Looking back, however, it was probably really bad. Mostly, however, I’m real. I don’t lie, I don’t make stuff up, I don’t credit for things I didn’t do. “The main instrument I play is drums. I’ve been playing since I was six, when my dad got me one of those Guitar Hero brand electric drum sets. He said he figured I’d love it, which I did, because as a baby I’d always tap my hands against everything, always making a beat. I think drummers get overlooked, you know? Everyone knows the singers and the guitarists in a band, but the drummer is the one who keeps the beat. What would a band do without one?”

What are other instruments you play or enjoy? And for how long?
“I’ve dabbled with the guitar. Acoustic guitar is not really my thing, but I’ve gotten pretty good on a bass guitar. Mostly though, I like to use my voice. I love to sing, but I sort of like that the drummers get a little less attention than the lead vocalists. Should make my life slightly less drama-prone when I get famous, so I’ll stick to back-up vocals and impromptu concerts in private.”

What do you wish to achieve in general?
“I want to be a name people remember. I want to see Hollywood and be in a band. I want to make friendships that last a lifetime, that were built off a mutual love of music. And I want to spread the love of music around the world, so that everyone knows how powerful it can be to the soul.”

“I want to be known, like everyone does. I want to make my own song one day. A couple times, just to see how it feels, I want to lead the vocals in a song. Mostly though, I just want to make music. “I think it’s a great school. Classical music is just as powerful as modern music is, sometimes more. However, I think the place is too structured. strengths & weaknesses: Gabriel is highly artistic, not just in the sense that he is imaginative but also that he is good at relaying emotions and evoking understanding of messages even despite restrictions placed on him in terms of theme or medium. Despite this, he has trouble connecting emotionally with others outside of above mentioned means, which leads people to feel that he is insensitive and even apathetic. He is extremely single-mindedly determined about things he takes interest in and can become passionate to the point of being obsessive. However, he also loses that passion and becomes bored almost too easily and can be rather fickle, especially when it comes to relationships. Gabriel expects a lot out of himself and is perfectionistic as well as independent, loathing the feeling of being at someone else's mercy. - Guitar: He has been playing the acoustic guitar, mostly fingerstyle, for over 10 years. The electric guitar came up much later when he was about 16 and he’s been playing that for almost 5 years now.

secondary instruments:
- Piano: The first ever instrument he took up, when he was only 6 years old, and the one which he excels at the most out of all — enough to have been praised as a prodigy. However, he relates it with his emotional breakdown a few years back and didn’t even want to look at a piano for more than a year before he reconnected with the instrument while composing.

- Keyboard + Synthesizer: Began learning when he first started to try his hand in composing, which was about 6 or 7 years ago.

- Guzheng: Learnt it because it seemed interesting about 5 years ago, though he only plays it occasionally and is an amateur at it.

- Violin: He started learning it while bored and has been playing for 4 years. He thinks he’s passable at it but wouldn’t consider himself anywhere near as good as a classical violinist.

- Drums: Was taught how to play by an ex-boyfriend and it grew on him. He’s only been playing this for 2 years.

1. His maternal side of the family has been around in the classical music circles since who-knows-how-many generations ago, his mother being a famous concert pianist herself. However, out of her four children, the three eldest all inherited their father’s suave business-minded demeanor, leaving only Gabriel chock full of the Artist genes — sometimes, perhaps a little too full.

2. Gabriel was lauded as a piano prodigy and attended RAM for a couple of years when he was 15 years old, even earning some fame as one of the youngest students ever of the famous school. However, the pressure got to him and induced depression way too early on in his life, to the point that he didn’t even want to touch a piano anymore.

To this day, he is constantly told by others that if he had just persevered a little more and not been so rebellious, he would have already made a career for himself in classical music. Those words undeniably sting and Gabriel still wonders if he should just go back to the piano at times. One reason he applied for this programme in the first place was to prove to himself that he made the right choice dropping out of classical music.

opinion of RAM:He has no fond memories of the place but understands that it was him being too young and soft-hearted back then, instead of any major problem with the school itself. That said, he still much prefers LMA’s way of doing things and wouldn’t go back there if he could help it.

+ The saxophone. I've been playing it since... well I can't actually remember but my dad said I breathed into the saxophone one day and just laughed at the sound that it made when I was five-ish.

+ Well, I do vocals from time to time, mostly from doing cover songs and lyrical writing. I also have been playing the guitar for five years now, piano for seven; the trombone for ten years, and lastly the harmoica for eleven years now. But the Saxophone has always been my longest and favorite.

+I just want to live with music, if that makes any sense. I mean, I want music to be the very core of my life as I grow.

+ I don't really wish to be in the spotlight. But I do want to be a part of an Orchestra or maybe write music, I'm not sure yet.

RAM-student: What do you think of the LMA?
+ Hmmm... I don't have much to say, I usually steer clear of any RAM students since I have met this one person on occasional times and it was not good. I don't think all of them thinks highly of the rivalry as the one I met but, just to be safe. I really do not like any sort of confrontation and I originally wanted to go to LMA since I want to experience a different type of music making but my family blew up after just a simple question about it.

Misc.
+My whole family, even way back has always been playing music, mainly classic or orchestral. For the most part, the Di Maggios play woodwind and brass instruments but there are relatives who play percussion and string too. They enrolled me to RAM because that is where they studied and met, hoping I finish in the same school too.

What is the main instrument you play? And for how long have you been playing this instrument. Bass Guitar. He has been in several bands including "Blood Doll" (a goth band) and "Teratoma" (an industrial metal band). He has been playing for around 6 years.
What are other instruments you play or enjoy? And for how long? Guitar, Keyboards. His parents gave him piano lessons as a child - classical of course. They disapproved when he later taught himself the guitar around age 14, and started joining garage bands with other local students. Ren then took up bass guitar because there was always a need for a bass player - everyone wants to be the guitarist. He still uses keyboards to help write music.
What do you wish to achieve in general? To change the world. Everyone is encouraged to conform, to knuckle down, to make money. But art and music have the power to wake people up and shake up society. Deep down, he also wants to prove to his traditionalist family and himself that it is possible to be successful in an unconventional way.
What do you wish to achieve in music? To inspire others to make and write their own music and express themselves. He doesn't want other kids to suffer being straitjacketed in the way he was.
