Avatar: Years Of Silence - 1x1

Jun stood there as she clapped, a small smile still on his face. He felt much warmer now, even though his body was still shivering. He nodded to her, as she replied to heading deeper into the woods. What happened next hit a nerve in Jun. She bowed amd stayed there, expressing her sorrow for her uncle's actions and mood.

Jun folded his arms and gave her a cold stare. He didn't reply for a few minutes. But when he did, his voice was stern, hinting with anger.

"Get up. Don't ever do that again."  Jun paused for a moment, the anger his voice fadded as he spoke next, "Our Nations will always be enemies. Regardless of peace or war. That is something that will never change." Jun turned away from Emily and sighed sadly. He looked down at the snow at his feet.

"Look. Emily. Two years ago, my dad kicked me out of the house, burning the place down in the process. All because I failed a bending test, using the technique you just saw. Five days after that, is when I learned that the Fire Nation had first attacked the Air Nomads. About a year later, they did it again.

"I travelled north, as far away as I could get from the Fire Nation. Why do you think I ended up here?" he said looking into the dark forest. He sucked in the cold air and watched his breath as he exhaled. The firebender rubbed the back of his neck.

"Ah, look. Can we talk about this later? When we have time to kill?" he asked, turning to face Emily again.

She was watching him now, her eyes clouded over with what looked like grief. Emily quickly looked away as he turned back tugging her hood closer to her face. "Yeah. Later..." She said seemingly to composing herself, taking a few breaths before looking at him, a thin smile spreading her lips. "Hope you can keep up. We have a bit of ground to cover. Tiny?" Emily looked at the wok who jumped up and darted forward, nose to the ground. She followed after him, her pace brisk despite the added weight of the weapons and pack weighing her down.

They walked through the forest, the trees slowly growing closer together, the mountains on ether side growing smaller. The sun was setting behind the bare trees now and the wind had picked up, bending some of them over in its path and bringing snow along with it. Emily hunched over against the blast, pulling her hood close the wolf walking beside Jun to help keep him on the path Emily was making. She stopped soon and pointed to a few thick trees, a large bolder blocking the path of some of the wind.

"Let's set up here!" She called having to raise her voice in order to be heard of the howling wind. Emily made her way to the spot, quickly taking the pack off her shoulders and pulling out the small tent wrapped up tightly in sinew.

Jun followed as best as he could, trying to keep up with the two ahead of him. But soon though, both the wolf and the girl's pace slowed. As the trees grew closer together, the more the wind whistled and whipped through them. Jun hung his head, breathing small flames when ever Emily paused in her tracks. He would have lost track of Emily's trail if it weren't for the wolf beside him, guiding him and pushing him back onto the trail if he had wandered off.

A large blast of icy wind caught Jun off guard. Instinctively he tried to breath, but the wind was to cold and harsh, he couldn't suck in a breath. He covered his mouth and nose with his hand, in  an attempt to block the wind from his face. It worked well enough for him to breath. But the icy air still hurt his lungs.

He could bearly hear Emily as she spoke about setting up the tent. He nodded to her and followed her. To be honest, he had no idea how to set up a tent. It was a rather foreign concept to him. But he would help where needed.

"Here! I need you to hold this corner! Go to the tree and pull it tightly!" Emily called pushing a corner of the tent at him, "just stand there and keep pulling!" She quickly grabbed up another corner, this one opposite of the one he had and quickly went over to a tree by the boulder. She wrapped the corded sinew around the large trunk, tugging it tight as best she could before grabbing up a spike and stoning it into the ground, grounding that side of the tent. After doing the same to the other three sides she ran back over to where Jun was with taking part of the rope from him, "Keep pulling while passing me some, ok?!" She calls before she starts to climb the tree her progress slowly as she scooted up branch by branch before finally finding a good spot high enough to tie the rope around tightly.

Emily dropped back down, rolling to break her fall. The tent was open on the side tied up to the tree she had just fallen from, it seemed to be the part that held it up, with two corners at each side and one in the back like a triangle. "It will shield is from the wind and if we can dig down to the ground you can probably put a small fire in there." Emily said stepping inside, the tent flapping a bit in the wind that managed to skirt the Rock and sounding forest.

"It's going to be a long night..." She sighed starting to push out clumps of snow exposing a bit of the warmer dirt ground. "I have a few sleeping bags but again they are my size so..." Emily looked over at Jun with a small smile, the wolf between them now digging his nose into snow flicking it out of the tent.
