Luna thinks about Leonard/Wolfs comments, and smiles to herself. I like that name. I'll have to remember it. "I am content. All of my questions have been answered."
You realize that Luna knew Wolf's real name before? He introduced himself properly when it became obvious they would be adventuring together. I stated this once somewhere.

@Dann - I always check all of my RPs manually and have never opted in to Alerts. If I'm not posting it means I am deliberately slacking *rawrrr*

And Wolf's not done yet, yo! *howl*

Re: Alerts. O.K. *nods*

Re: "Wolf's not done yet, yo!" If Wolf has more to say, then do it to it, my man! =)

here[/URL]. In Dannigan's game, one then has to find a character who already has the prestige class to train them (just like any other class). Prerequisites vary; some are pretty easy to meet, some take a lot of planning.

As a not-so-random example, Kaerri the Rogue wanted to be a Shadowdancer, but first she had to put two skill ranks into Dance and five into Stealth (that was the easy part, for a Rogue), plus acquire the feats Combat Reflexes, Dodge, and Mobility, and then track down and convince a Shadowdancer to teach her, in itself a fun roleplaying experience.

Well said, Kaerri. =) I must add the following: If there is a class (any class, prestige or starting) that you want which is not yet in the game, and I allow it, it may very well be that your character becomes the first ever for that class. This is very much the case for Bria (there were no healers in my game prior to her; I created that NPC healer she mentioned solely for her storyline, which was played out years ago).

This does not mean that I am on the lookout for game-changers (New player: "Oh boy! Here comes my steampunk, clockwork-crafting, technomancer!" Storyteller: "Uh, no thanks. Try Palladium Rifts RPG?"). However, if the class fits, and it keeps within our game's delicate balance, I am very willing to consider it. =)

On another note, let's talk parlance for adventurers.

Cap'n sez,

"Though I have to ask, what are your greater plans? What do you hope to achieve in the future? Is there any careers that interest you?"
In Sharseya, adventurers (like gamers) have their own parlance. Why not, right? They have their own lifestyles, they do work no other occupation does, etc. So it is perfectly allowable to use a few of the same terms we use as gamers in such conversations. Terms like "class," "prestige class," and even "feats" are some examples. Others, however, are completely unknown to characters. These include things like "hit points," "saving throws," and "action points." It makes sense to me to simply call this "Player jargon."

There is a fine line here, but one that makes sense. While characters might talk about raising their "skills to the next level," they have no idea what level they are (or even that there are character levels, just like in Real Life). When in doubt, use terms that make sense in Real Life (I mean, what else do you call a prestige class?). Or you may use words to these effects if you so choose (as Cap'n has) - I just want to add another option while making you (my players) aware of these things. Your characters are adventurers after all and these things come up. =)

And lastly (and this one cannot go "unpunished"),

Wolf sez,

"I don't understand this prestigious question by Cap'n. Get it? Ha! :D *woof*"
*Powerpaw hands Wolf his (large-sized) backpack and says, "Hey Wolf-face! Guess what iz in da bottom of my bag?" As Wolf sticks his head in to look, Powerpaw grins, "A beatin'! Let's get 'ims!"

Every NPC in or on the Adventurers' Wagon, from fairy to fuzzy, healer to hobbit, break out Fluffy Pillows and "beat" Wolf for such a terrible pun! That was horrible, Wolf! Ha ha! =) *

I see. Thank you both for your clarifications.

I assume there are more prestige classes to browse somewhere else? Of all the ones on paizo's site there is but one for rangers and it requires you to be a wizard as well lol.

p.s. and yes, it is a truly disgusting pun *woof*

I use the language I use, because in my mind, despite his level Otiorin is still mostly clueless about the world of Adventurers. I see his 'native' class as Sorcerer (because of his Draconic lineage) and he picked up the Rogue class after watching a cat burglar at work. Thus he doesn't think of things in terms of 'class' and 'feat', he sees them as careers and, I dunno, talents?

Captain Hesperus

Both viewpoints are absolutely fine regardless of experience; in the end, it's a matter of preference. I just didn't want anyone to be thrown off if, in-character, someone asked your character, "Hey, what feat would go best with this prestige class?" =)

@Wolf Rawrrr Here is an allowed Prestige class Leonard might be interested in - the deadly Deepwood Sniper. =)

@Sherwood The other night, I went into greater detail into Wolf's history. I realize that I have enough in my head to do similarly for Luna (and likely Otiorin when his turn comes up). Bren, on the other hand, was fully fleshed-out years ago. So... Sherwood? Allow me to do the same for Luna below. =)

I'll start with Dad. For the past couple of weeks (maybe three), I've been creating Rogosh in my head. The character I'm getting is aristocratic, upper-class, and largely no-nonsense when it comes to important matters. Rogosh is definitely the head of his household and he acts the part. I'm not certain what level he is, but I get the impression it's around 11th. He has adventured quite a lot in his younger days (which ended about 25 years ago). His illusions are definitely top-notch, but what impresses me more is what he does with them. Even Luna sometimes cannot tell if it is her father or an illusion of him that is addressing her (and that is just the way he likes it).

One issue concerning Rogosh is his lack of time in the world of nature. I get the feeling he sees druids and rangers as uncivilized people (he clumps them in with the barbarians, which has some truth in it. Most of my human barbarians come from the Frozen Reaches way north of Highwind; they worship Norse gods). Rogosh, being a city-dwelling aristocrat, has dealt with the rigors of city life (which he knows well, especially politically). Luna's family (in my head) have lived in Summerset their whole lives through, traveling mostly to other human-won cities.

What does this mean for Luna and Wolf? It means good ol' Wolf is complete outsider (and Luna will know this). That he is human is a good start, but that he speaks with animals (animals!) is something beyond Luna's father's realm of interest and comprehension. Someday, when Rogosh comes to check on his little princess (something he has definitely done in the past, usually with little difficulty), Luna will have some explaining to do. It is then up to how things turn out in the roleplaying of this event. I certainly hope Leonard Wolf is ready to be scrutinized by a very capable master wizard. Personally, I hope Rogosh and Leonard get along. Time will tell. =)

Tim, the oldest son, may have no magical talent. That's fine. I don't, however, have any "magic nulls" in the game whatsoever. My definition of a magic null (which may be different than yours) is someone who magic simply has less (or in some cases no) effect on. The Tim in my mind is one hell of an aristocrat (with his mother's charm and his father's brilliant mind). Unless something happens to Tim, Luna never need worry about having to run home and take over the household. =)

Alec's story is not yet finished. Sure, he's dead (by magical accident). I get the feeling his talent with magic was definitely on par with Luna's own until his own aggressiveness (or hot-headedness, if you will) caused his death. However... Mom and Dad still talk to his spirit. Alec's spirit still roams the Callen manor and its grounds freely and without restraint. Luna would definitely know about this (Dad does not keep such secrets from his dear ones). What is keeping Alec here? Luna does not know. However, Alec is still looking out for the family (apparently with Boccob's own blessing). Alec still loves his family a great deal (though the shock of his death has transformed him from an assertive, power-hungry would-be wizard to a humble and thoughtful young man). There is no chance to resurrect or reincarnate him (as Alec does not wish it to be - these spells automatically fail upon spirits who do not wish to return to life. However, sinister souls can still attempt to Trap the Soul to bind spirits like Alec's to their will. Not that Alec is in any danger of this; the Callen family manor is well-guarded against such magical intrusions). One last thought - Alec was into necromancy (not the evil kind; the "willing" kind). He got in over his head and fell to a spell he had no right to try to cast. Hence the tragic mishap.

Luna does not know the exact circumstances upon Sparkle joining your family. She is definitely the only psuedo-dragon in the current Callen line. She and Rogosh share a deep respect for one another (having impressed each other on multiple occasions). I get the feeling Sparkle became Luna's familiar at Rogosh's request and Luna and Sparkle's mutual love for one another. Sparkle's wisdom outclasses any mischievous pranks she may pull, and she has pulled some very nasty pranks upon Luna's enemies (whom she has no mercy toward). Still, she is loathe to use her potent sting-tail (as it means possibly killing an opponent). Luna would be very aware of the 25% chance of automatic death for anyone stung by Sparkle's tail. Sparkle is, in her soul, a gentle-hearted creature who wishes death upon very few.

And with that, Real Life doth beckon!

What do you think of these thoughts, Sherwood? Do they work for you?

I like it a lot. It helps to give a better picture in my mind on family that is ok'd with our illustrious ST.

Aw, I'm just a guy doing what he loves. Nothing more; nothing less. =)

Good thing Wolf's not a schoolgirl or he'd be blushing right about now, courtesy of Luna-senpai *woof*

She is 1 year older than Wolf so I actually can call her senpai, lol

Y'know, I didn't even see that until now... =)

Heya folks! I have added a Classes tab on Shop Talk. Therein are allowed starting classes (if anyone wanted to multi-class as Otiorin has done) along with allowed and disallowed Prestige classes. Enjoy! =)

Aw man. I'm really not sure about any of those. I guess I could pick the Deepwood Sniper if I ever get around to choosing a prestige class at all. And what's this about multi-class? Never mind, I should be worried about the second signature skill... *woof*

p.s. by the way you should consider banning this as well: 3spook5me

Not everyone wants a prestige class, and that's just fine. ( :) )

There is a prestige class that is called (I think) Mystic Theruge that is a caster of both arcane and and divine spells. The problem with it is I'd have to shift over to cleric for the next three levels before I could qualify for the prestige class. But I am seriously considering it for Luna once I hit 8th level.

Mystic Theurge is on the GM's list of approved prestige classes. :D Does Luna have a deity in mind for her cleric-ness?

Boccob has been the god of Luna since the beginning, but I may just continue on focusing on the Arcane. I see that the way the Mystic Theurge is supposed to work is not the way that my last ST ran it, and it does have some drawbacks.

Well, I knew this was going to happen some day. Everyone I have to put my RPing on the sidelines, at this point it's indefinitely. I've been hit with a series of a lot of health problems, ranging from the simple, just needing antibiotics, to the complex, needing a CT scan, MRI, blood work, and surgery. I'm not going to be able to post for a while I need to concentrate on issues that may be life altering. Danni have Bronze do the S-NPC thing (Smart Non-Player Character). Wish me luck everyone. Looks like this is going to be a long year.

Best of luck to you, bud. I'll say a few prayers for you for a speedy recovery.

Yikes! Take care, you, and stay Fluffy! Keep in touch if you can, please?
