Meredith Zul
1cf2db5987879719bac9bcde2fbe7a63.jpg

As Meredith was internally struggling with her thoughts she soon ceased them to eavesdrop on their conversation,
know your enemy mom use to say. . As Meredith eavesdropped on the two she was able to learn the name of one of the kids Fay apparently which sent a shudder through Meredith as they hopped they weren't a fae they also appeared to be a book nerd. Meredith has seen a few of those book smart type people before they were pretty smart and manipulative though. She was also able to learn the cuties name Kaleb apparently and they were a divine user that was the protege of a goddess Yeah no, church boy with a goddess helping him is basically the same as a demon helping them. Their both annoying to deal with and are used basically as a power source to make them stronger. If im ever going to kill someone like him i will have to make sure they don't see it coming. Meredith made several mental notes in her head as she thought about what she heard from them. They sure are interesting at least maybe they are decent enough tools to have. Just then Meredith started noticing how the Fay apparently was now just ranting on without Kaleb saying anything. Yeah, he is defiantly right about him being crazy, wait a secound is that goddess that the cute kid was talking about speaking with him through some sorta telepathy? maybe thats whats going on and what does he mean by ignore that part of me? and he is a arcane magic user? wow. Quite a few questions kept popping in her mind as she looked listened in on them with peaked interest although she was sure to not make it look obvious that she was eavesdropping. But Meredith raised her head when the librarian claim started to appear the power behind his steps were a bit impressive to Meredith. Ive seen better from others with their presence was just plain being terrifying compared to this chump. When the librarian started talking and soon took Fays book things turned very interesting, atleast in Meredith's perspective especially after the librarian said that he wouldn't be allowed to have his book back unless he goes through the school systems process or something like that. Meredith stopped being subtle with her ease dropping and instead just stared at the twos little exchange. Why is she referring to herself like they arn't fay? What is going on? Why did the cafeteria not add popcorn to its menu? I really could use some popcorn right about now. Wait what does he mean he designed it himself is he the author of it? Why does he want his book back so bad? Ugh, book nerds i don't understand them but they sure are useful. Meredith just continued to look at their exchange with a interested smile as they took their social shots at one another. oooo, shes resorting to threats now yip eee. Meredith started to resist the urge to chant Fight! Fight! Fight! although she knew they would likely lose cause Meredith was pretty sure staff being strong was a requirement. But the student also made a good point about them not being able to kill them and they also came to the conclusion that they were probably possessed after they used the term vessel. But Meredith frowned after the librarian started to head over to the staff table only for the kid to en coat them in some sorta black sphere. Ugh their making it a private battle now ive seen things similar to this usually its to have death battles with someone else and its more of a portal version. Meredith was a bit miffed that she wouldn't be able to see the fight they had but she was atleast able to deduce that the kid was atleast decently strong to be able to cast something like that. After a while of glancing at Kaleb and watching the black orb, it finally was put down the librarian was clearly standing tall while the girl looked exhausted. As expected teacher wins. Meredith watched with a board look as the librarian picked him up likely to take him to the nurse or something. Meredith then focused her attention to Kaleb ( Deathkitten Deathkitten ) as they left. Clearly a bit in the mood to talk with him since his best buddy received a complete KO. She all but slid across stopping a foot near him. "Whaaats up, so i didn't know that friend of yours had some sorta demon within them." Meredith said that a bit coyly with a smirk on their face. Maybe they know what just happened they clearly have some sorta life advantage being they were a puppet of some goddess. Wait maybe i should of been cautious about that they could try to fish for secretes to use against me. Ack i should of thought this through.

The blond didn't mind hovering nearby as Kaleb and Fay introduced themselves to each other. Just let them bond naturally. Another student was hanging around nearby but she didn't seem harmful ( Peckinou Peckinou ). If the looks she's giving Kaleb are anything to go by, I'd say she's smitten. Taylor chuckled at the love-struck faces she was making at the young boy. It was adorable. Despite his amusement, the mage gave them some semblance of privacy by whipping his phone out to check his messages while the conversation went over his head. No messages from Sudo... He wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not yet, but he supposed that no news was good news. Taylor's fingers hesitated over the phone's keyboard before he decided to focus on the rest of his day. He'd probably continue being a mysterious asshole instead of actually answering any questions. While the blond liked Sudo so far, there was a limit to how much patience he had. He might be more willing to talk after classes. By the time Taylor had put his phone away and rejoined the conversation, Fay was gone. Blinking in surprise, he scanned the cafeteria before he found the other mage again. It didn't last long as Fay sealed himself and an adult inside of a barrier. Well shit. And Taylor thought that he was dramatic. He was honestly starting to wonder if it was normal for superheroes to have giant outbursts. Remembering his classmate's cold eyes ( OnyxReaper OnyxReaper ), the blond shuddered; he really hoped it wasn't.

After what felt like an hour passed, the mage grew worried. Should someone check on them? Get a teacher? He didn't have to worry for long though, as the barrier fell to reveal the unknown teacher leaving with Fay. Are they ok? Is Fay in trouble? Should I do something? On one hand, if Fay was in trouble he shouldn't go after him. Despite his fondness of the other mage they were still practically strangers; would the other boy even appreciate Taylor following him? However, the boy was pleasant to be around; even if he did just try to attack a teacher. The blond figured either his luck was shitty or that everyone here had issues so he'd rather take his chances with someone he liked. He turned to ask Kaleb for his opinion when the girl finally decided to join them. She slid over and all too gleefully said, "Whaaat's up, so I didn't know that friend of yours had some sorta demon within them."

Demon? Ah fuck, things just had to get complicated. Taylor was grateful, in a twisted sort of way, that most of the people from his past were dead. It made things a lot easier. It also means that I apparently come with less baggage and secrets than everyone else here. This school was starting to feel more like a fancy half-way house than an actual school. Mean Girls did not prepare him for this shit. Ignoring the girl and her obvious enjoyment, the blond asked Kaleb, "Do you wanna follow them? See that everything's ok?" After this, the mage would have to take extra care in watching Fay and Kaleb. He felt his trust waver as doubt filled him. Did he decide too soon on who was his friend and who wasn't? Could he trust any of his peers? Suddenly feeling a weight press down on him, Taylor tiredly tucked a stray strand of hair behind his ear. Guess I won't be sleeping tonight...

En Valkyrie II --Aftermath, A much needed break?--

The first half today ended with the loud tolling of a bell, the dark-haired boy following behind his classmates. It was time for lunch, and while on his way En felt his stomach as it communicated its needs through few rumbles. The walk from class to the Cafeteria wasn't as draining as it should've been, the younger merely surfing through his thoughts. It seemed like what happened this morning... It seemed it might've affected him somehow. En suddenly recalled home, specifically his mother; she being the one responsible for his presence here in the first place.

Hmm... En mumbled in his mind.

Homesick? Asked the old man.

En looked at 1st, a mental image of them sitting beside each other formulating in his mind. He inhaled, his physical body moments away from-- "Ow..!" Now rubbing his forehead, En looked through the entry way to the large dining facility; literally standing in the center of the road, other students overtaking him.

Child? Almost as if ignoring the voice of his ancestor, En lifelessly walked forward, a blue-haired boy roughly making his way through. He headed straight for the green lady; her instructions clear as day. "I'd like seven slices of Cheese Stuffed Crust Pizza, Kobe Beef Burger with Truffle Cheese and Truffle Fries, and five Soda Fountain Beverages." A few moments came to past after the large order was made, the mentally occupied boy standing next to a rather unique-looking individual. She seemed almost fairy-tale-like with her height and general appearance, En being a clean 6 inches taller than her.

You know, 1st... It's been a few days since we've been here right? ...And, despite that time... I, never got around to fulfilling my mother's requests. You see, the little squabble in class reminded me of home somehow, and... Silencing himself, En found his eyes focused on the girl he was once beside; His highly feminine form directly in front of her. Taking a step back he looked her in the eyes, his creepiness shrouding whatever future the two could've had. Then it came to him. "Hello there, I'm En. ...Sorry if I freaked you out with my staring just now..." Resisting the urge to run his fingers through the luscious locks of hair on his head, he waited for her response.

You did this didn't you...? The younger asked mentally, his voice echoing through the halls of their shared conscience.

~Kaleb~
It was upsetting that all of... whatever that was... just went on, and Kaleb couldn't do a thing about it. He didn't even bother trying. He was smart enough to know when something going on was far out of his league. Instead, he just stared at the bubble in worry. This Fay person seemed really smart and really nice... and the other man, he was clearly supposed to be here, he was going to the staff table before he turned around, but... he had something wrong with him.

Luckily, it didn't take long before the bubble dispersed, but that wasn't much better. Now Fay looked exhausted... though not physically hurt... and the man looked untouched. Did he seem a little concerned? Apologetic? Not sure what, but it wasn't a bad face.

Speaking of not having a bad face though... the two of them... oh that'd probably start some rumors. Chutes was attractive and almost looked like a student, and Fay was really feminine and attractive too. Fun. He felt sorry for what would surely be people teasing him about it in the weeks to come.

He was jolted out of his quiet thoughts by someone sliding right up next to him. A girl, by the looks of it? Tomboys are hard to tell sometimes. All the same, he blushed a little as nervous blood ran into his cheeks, "I... uh... what?"

Kaleb shook his head, "N-no... it's not a demon. At least... I really doubt its a demon. From what went on, as crazy as it sounds... I would guess it's Celes. They even booted my goddess out of their head. That's nothing to shrug off. Celes is a really powerful wizard that was alive at the same time as... like... Ancient Egypt? But... I don't really know much else about him."

Taylor piped up though, and Kaleb looked incredibly relieved. They had saved him from having to talk more. He gave an apologetic smile to the tomboy before standing up, "Y-yeah... I probably should. I don't really know him at all, but... I still feel so concerned for him. He's probably just tired. I'll go check and come back."

He jogged off eagerly, intent on finding the nurses' office and way too shy for that sudden conversation. He'd much rather meep.

As soon as the words had left Taylor's mouth, Kaleb responded with, "Y-yeah... I probably should. I don't really know him at all, but... I still feel so concerned for him. He's probably just tired. I'll go check and come back," before jogging away and leaving the blond behind with the nameless girl. The boy probably didn't mean it, but it annoyed the mage nonetheless; he was worried about Fay too. Not bothering to see what the other girl was doing, Taylor bolted after Kaleb. Doubt whispered in his mind, telling him not to trust them. Not everything is as it seems. Not everyone is as innocent as they appear. He knew that, he knew that but still....how could he leave someone so small alone? Kaleb was hardly someone people would call defenseless with that 'goddess' that supposedly gave him his powers, but it still felt wrong to abandon him and Fay.

Catching up with the boy, holy shit was the kid fast, Taylor fell in stride beside him. Offering an easy smile, the blond said, "I'll come with you." He wanted to say, I'm worried too, but his throat closed up and his mouth couldn't seem to form the words needed, so he just closed it. It doesn't matter anyways. What mattered was making sure Fay was OK.

"Mm...," the dragon mused, looking over at the unfolding situation, "It's too bad their teacher isn't in the room to see all of this. That'll be hard to explain to her later. Lyara has him, right?"

He sighed and idly tapped the table, the situation with Tsunami just before was bizarre as well. So... he might not be the real Tempest? That'd be one for the papers... and Lu-Dao didn't make the point of it, but... if this Tempest wasn't the real one, then that meant some potentially horrible things. He could be tortured, dead, trapped... who knew, really?

The look of care and concern that had donned Lu-Dao's face was clear, however. He knew. He knew that there was little chance that this individual would be brought in alive. That was in the past now, however. He sighed long and low, "Well, we'll make sure to really interview him and see what we can do about it. If there's enough to suggest that this could be a possible possession or kidnapping, then we can alert the Supers in the area to bring him in alive no matter what. We can talk about that later though."

"For now, how're you doing? This is your first year teaching, isn't it? How's it feel to have kids look up to you?" he asked, chuckling a bit as he tried to lighten the mood.

As orders were being taken, after a good ten to fifteen minutes, small wooden golems started to trot out of the kitchen. Trays were held above the tiny things heads, as though "hup hup hup" was supposed to be heard in the background. They were fast, they were efficient, and they seemingly knew where to go.

Once reaching a table with a tray, the small golem would hop up onto the table, set down the tray in front of the recipient of the food, and then bow. Smiling at the person who now had food, they'd hop off, and trot back over to the kitchen swiftly.

Those who ordered a soda got an empty cup, meant to be filled by the fairly obvious soda machine of course, and those who ordered other beverages simply got those beverages. Water got water bottles. Tea got fairly large teacups.

The chef was still busy taking more orders as the first ones went out. It was an efficient machine of good food.

No matter how far she stood on her tiptoes Elizar couldn't find Himari ( MirrorBoy MirrorBoy ). Did she get lost? The mute unconsciously brought her hands together. Should I try looking for her? Her fingers fiddled with her marker nervously before stopping all movement as a shadow fell over her. Craning her neck back, she found herself staring at a taller girl ( Astralworks Astralworks ). Piercing golden eyes bore into her as she stood there and stared. It took Elizar a moment to unfreeze herself, and when she did her fingers began fidgeting with her marker once again. Is...is she staring at my horns? Her hands twitched towards her head in an aborted movement before resuming their worrying in front of her chest. The noise of the cafeteria seemed to be drowned out by the silence that surrounded them. The girl's staring was extremely intense, and it was making Elizar anxious. Her classmates didn't seem to care about her appearance, but this girl was obviously interested. Does she think I'm not human? She knew that her faerie-esque looks would confuse people, but she wasn't expecting such blatant staring. Should I tell her that? Elizar was about to uncap her marker and start writing when the other girl finally broke the heavy silence. "Hello there, I'm En. ...Sorry if I freaked you out with my staring just now..." The sudden shift from intense to awkward caused the mute relax a little. She couldn't really blame the other girl for staring, she had done the same when she first saw De'kiral.

Uncapping her marker, she quickly wrote on her whiteboard before turning it so the other girl could read it. "That's alright! My horns and wings can be a bit distracting." She gave the girl a moment to read her message before erasing it and writing a new one. "I'm Elizar Rolonk, I'm in Mr. De'kiral's class. What's your name?" Despite the dark haired girl's somewhat intimidating behavior from before, the mute wanted to give her a chance. Maybe she's bad at making friends? Elizar didn't have a lot of experience with friendships either, so she empathized with her. Besides, she could always use another friend.

Meredith was quite amused by his reaction and listened to Kaleb give his explanation on what had happened taking mental notes on the information given. So this celsus is either really strong or that goddess of his is really weak cause kicking out some deity shouldn't be that easy, i think. When the other guy piped up asking his friend apparently if they should follow them only to see kaleb soon agree and give a explanation on how they actually didn't know them but was just concerned for them. Meredith only found it amusing yet a bit strange Why are they so concerned over them its not like their dying or anything what use would they bring? or are they just trying to act sentimental to him? What reason would they actually be so concerned over some person they don't know that well, but are actully willing to skip out on lunch for them? Pha, humans i will never understand them. Wait? do they work for him or something? Ah ha i should of seen it! Wait a secound did he just say him? that girl was a guy? ugh i should of known from their voice too, atleast he gave some interesting info though. When kaleb left Meredith only smirked at him as he sauntered off and giving the other kid a little smirk that could be seen as a bit sinister as he then started to run after kaleb. Meredith just continued to sit in her seat a bit amused by the group and a bit happy that she has the table to herself. Her thoughts were soon interrupted by her food appearing on the table Seems cafeteria lady was made for this job i guess. Meredith then eyed the food trying to find anything that may look off just in case of poison before she then nibbled at it and after a while of nothing happening to her she then started to indulge in the food. Heh, they left just when they were about to get their food too i guess their going to go a bit hungry for a while, suckers.

Boxxy Woodsman
(Jaun Deaux)

Boxxy's time in the classroom, and outside of it, had been quite an entertaining experience for the creature. After all, the monster hungered for only two things, first and foremost, was legitimate hunger. Whilst the runner-up was his hunger for knowledge, after all, Boxxy realised he was young and worryingly naive about the world, even if he considered himself more intelligent than a human, who's minds were often led astray by factors like emotions and morality, Boxxy didn't understand how human and non-human society operated.

Which is why the mimic made the harrowing, heart-wrenching decision of skipping on a lunch for the day (Not just because the dead fauna-to-flora ratio on the menu was irritatingly low.)

Instead, he first scanned the cafeteria for the person he'd held the longest conversation with, the succubus. Boxxy's chosen human appearance was rather small and lean, and he found it hard to see above the crowds of students that marched around the cafeteria, some with purpose, some without. The mimic had pondered the idea of simply elongating his neck or making himself a little taller to see above the crowd, but he felt it best that he avoid the extra attention he might get. Instead, he settled his eyes on someone he recognised from his class. In a regular street, there waifish appearance and fae-like features might stand out, though surrounded by alien creatures, mages, monsters and all other sort's of fantastical and odd beings, Elizar didn't actually stand out that much, nor did the... man beside her.

Nevertheless, conversational skills were something that Boxxy... Jaun, needed to work on, and talking to more than one person at once would both be more tasking, but also better practice. So the mimic made his way over to the pair, scurrying and pushing his way through the occasional gatherings of food fellow students.

He gave the two a curt wave before speaking up in his well-practiced, meek voice "H-Hello, My name is Jaun... You're Elizar, right? From the nature class?" Boxxy's eyes wandered over, looking up at the taller boy "Apologies, C-Could I catch your name?"

En Valkyrie II --The Menace & The Mute--

A strong gust of innocence blew En's head millimeters away from the little wonder holding a mini whiteboard for him to read, her scripts pointing out her possible inability to speak. This left him silent for a bit as she seemed really nice, and being less than five minutes into their meeting merely made En's opinion questionable. Taking a look to the side for no reason, he started answering her question. "En Valkyrie the Second." Reviewing what she'd written earlier, he figured giving more information wasn't a crime. "I'm in Ms. Anubis's class, I believe its specifically for the Other Mages." Right after his responses another child appeared. This one also asked for a name, and seemed to know Elizar. "En." The new arrival was also shorter than him, the different reasons for the stutter in his speech running through the younger's mind.

Elizar couldn't help but beam at En. A friend! I made another friend! She wasn't sure what the 'Other Mages' did, but it didn't really matter. I can't wait to introduce her to Himari! The mute relished in accomplishment for only a short moment before Jaun suddenly approached them. "H-Hello, My name is Jaun... You're Elizar, right? From the nature class?" The dark haired girl gave him a nod. The timid boy's eyes moved over to En before shyly asking, "Apologies, c-could I catch your name?"

Excitement poured off of her in waves as another smile found its way onto her face. He seems shy, maybe he'd want to be friends too! While the meek demeanor was startlingly different from the confidence he'd shown in class, Elizar took it in stride. He's probably not good with people either. It wasn't unusual for people who excelled in one aspect of life to be nervous and uncertain in another; she'd seen doctors who were completely at ease with patients fumble spectacularly when invited to go out with fellow coworkers. I wonder why. She mused that it was probably some sort of social anxiety, but she couldn't be certain. Besides, it wasn't like she was a prime example of a social butterfly before this.

Clattering could be heard around her, causing the mute to turn her head. I thought the tables didn't have utensils... Elizar watched in fascination as a stream of greenish dolls dutifully poured out of the kitchen to deliver trays of food. They're so cute! A pang of hunger startled her as the smell of food invaded her nose. The dark haired girl put a hand on her stomach, as if to calm it. We should probably find somewhere to sit so we can eat. Clearing her board of her previous sentence, she wrote, Do you guys want to find somewhere to sit? They're bringing out food now! She wasn't sure about Jaun and En, but now that she could smell the food she was starving. That's what happens when you have a busy day, she thought brightly.

Tsunami:

He didn't waste time after he sat down before retrieving a phone, shoving the jack of a pair of earbuds into it, and drowning out the world entirely. The idea that the real Tempest was dead or that the impostor was actually the real Tempest had put him in a far more foul mood. Most would likely be depressed with the idea, but for him, it was just aggression. Tsunami had never been one to deal with situations like most he knew: bad news pissed him off, good news let him relax for a moment rather than celebrate, and overall, if it dealt with Tempest in any kind of negative light, it was more likely to irritate him rather than make him calm in the slightest.

It was one of the two reasons why he elected to walk away from Lu-Dao's question after his threat instead of simply attempting to deck the man, aside from the idea that the guy could simply breathe to kill him if he tried.

Cue shudder, please.

Tsunami's own little world was only shortly visited due to the intrusions of the three who now sat in front of him, as well as the dolls that came forth to deliver his order. They were cute, but he was too irritated to truly care about its existence at the moment. He couldn't help but grimace when the two sat in front of them - he remembered the three very well, to be honest: The male liked to speak up for his sister when decisions were being made instead of letting her use her mouth for what it was intended to, which was, of course, to speak her mind. She seemed fine with him speaking in her place, but there was simply something about it that irritated him about the whole arrangement. Then there was Steven: a classmate of his. He and Azira already seemed to have some kind of beef between them, and the teacher handled it as a teacher would've in a superpowered setting, which was basically "brush it off and I'll handle it."

Of course, the three of them had to mention the happening behind him a ways off that he didn't particularly care to get much information about: Some uppity mage trying to beat up the biggest person in the building, he supposed, and that was all he needed to know. The kid, who he thought he heard the name of, was going to be filed away in his head as someone to potentially look out for. If the kid tried to shove the tiny amount of weight he had around and make someone's day worse, then he'd deal with it.

That of course meant the kid might be losing a tooth if it came to it. As far as he was concerned, the kid was a bully who was trying to show he was bigger and badder than anyone else in the room, and he didn't care to catch the end of it since he was sure the guy who could literally bend reality around him probably dealt with it without a sweat. After all, that's why he was likely taking the kid to the nurse's office as he exited the room. He didn't need headphones out of his ears to get a gist of the situation.

"First day of classes and someone's already being a c u n t," he said as he shook his head. "Good it was dealt with now rather than later. A good ass-kicking solves everything, in my opinion, and that's just one example. Wish I saw what the teacher did to the cheeky little shit while that dome was up."

"Anyway, you two were with us when we checked out the training room Lu-Dao has set up, weren't you? Couple'a 'Delinquents' like me, I'm guessin', since I didn't see either of ya in the EM classroom." After his short recap of their first meeting, Tsunami looked to steve and simply waved. "Crazy is about to be the new normal here, mate. Name's Tsunami, by the way, to the two of ya."

Lu-Dao:

Troublesome was the only word he could put on the situation that unfolded with Fay and Chutes. As far as he could tell, there was a drastic personality shift. The way he talked, moved, and even stood was picture-perfect of someone who knew their exact measure and wasn't going to be told they were less than such. Either the child had multiple personality disorder, or he showed his true nature when the book had been shown to him. If he wasn't a delinquent when he entered Astrella's Boarding School, it was likely he was about to be, as far as Lu-Dao could tell, even if it was handled quickly.

He'd have to ask Lyara if he could read the file on the boy to make sure, though. It wasn't easy to pass a judgement on someone with their first appearance, and he wasn't about to. Lu-Dao nodded at De'Kiral's inquiry as to who had the child, then skipped straight to the question that De'Kiral had to be dying to ask.

Instead of answering immediately, though, Lu-Dao's hands found the cup of tea that had been placed in front of him and sipped at it with both hands, the cup being larger than the ones being served at other tables, before answering.

"I used to be what they called 'The Sage' on my home planet," he began as he put the cup down, still holding onto it as he looked into the contents. The memory was painful - haunted him every second of every day. Still, he couldn't simply ignore the inquiry of a colleague. It was obvious the man was looking for more than a yes or no answer, and it wouldn't be good to keep secrets. "One of my roles was teaching the youth in Ixia - both the gifted and the troubled. I was friend to emperors and laymen alike, and had protected them for four-hundred long years before..."

Lu-Dao could feel his brows knit. The panic of the People, the urgency in the voices of the Nobles and Emperors. The pained good-byes and the begging for safety. He could hear them clearly now - more so than the first time the events unfolded, and inside, it crushed him to the very core.

"Ixia was destroyed," he continued. "They were working on a reactor that could essentially bring power to the entire planet in the more impoverished areas and, later on, terra-form the planet so that there could be more and better soil for a higher bounty of food. I tried to advise them, saying that the power output could cause a meltdown, but..."

He shook his head.

"I'm sorry, you asked if I was enjoying my time here," Lu-Dao cleared his throat as he looked up from his cup. "I enjoy my work as an instructor, no matter where I am. Giving the younger generation the power to change and to lead is my primary concern, and there is no better way to do so than to teach. There is no occupation more sacred or satisfying than that."

Himari Tachimori

"Finally, the cafeteria..." Himari said under short breaths, while covering her mouth and holding unto the cafeteria door's handles for support, hiding that she actually spent much time getting lost than actually finding her way. As slow as she seems, Himari does not consider herself to have problem with her sense of direction. She once boasted knowing the forest in their village on the back of her hand! As the girl's breath calmed, she looked around. The cafeteria was livelier than it was when she last visited. What did not change, though, was the scent of food that beckons those near it.

She stood on her toes, the soles of her shoes sliding gently across the sparkling floor. Looking for her friend in the crowd was difficult, but in the least she got a brief peek at the menu. Himari figured that she might as well place her order, seeing that the line isn't getting any shorter. Falling in line, she saw the head chef over the counter. The drayadic woman was as hardworking as she is immodestly dressed. Himari quickly looked toward the crowd to look for Elizar once again. She squinted her eyes, and focused in searching for her curved pair of horns, while taking care to go with the steadily moving line. She saw their teacher, whose large figure emanated a strange aura incongruous to those he was dining with. He looks quite deep in conversation. The other students in the adjacent tables are also chatting with each other, but probably with subjects of less importance.

Looking at the group of students, the prospect of enjoying her time in the academy seems more possible especially with newfound friendships. It didn't take long for a quick tap on her back from a student behind her and the lady at the front asking for her order to snap her out. "Eliz--, I mean, the special," Himari stammered. Small mistakes happen, of course, to the best of us. Thinking of this, Himari reassured herself as she walked away from the front to wait for her order. Both her eyes closed and a calm smile showed grace as if she didn't just almost asked for her friend at the counter. Himari understood that she couldn't ask at a cafeteria for a person like one would do if their child was lost in the mall.

The small green golems started trotting on the floor to serve the food. They resembled plush toys more than wooden automatons, so many of the freshmen stopped and basked in their adorableness. One of them trotted in front of Himari, holding a tray in its small arms. Himari promptly picked it up from its arms, "Thank you, that was quick!" The golem looked like it nodded at her, before it returned back into the kitchen. Many golems are still pouring out of the kitchen, and due to their size and gait, it almost looked like trays of food are placing themselves on the tables. While some students are still standing, the golems seem to know which orders belong to whose tables. One of the groups of students who have yet to grab a table are still talking as the golems passed them. "Ah, there she is!" Elizar was right there with two other students.

Himari approached the small group, the tray clattering in her hands. "I was looking for you!" Himari said looking relieved while revealing a bit of a chidish pout. She tried to speak to her though she couldn't actually sign with her carrying the tray. Then she faced the other students. "Oh, um, pardon me," she said, "My name is Himari," she started as formally as possible, "nice to meet you." She looked up and got a good look at the shorter boy "Ah, wait a moment, you're from the same class, correct...?" "Jaun, right? Sorry for troubling you eralier at the introductions," Himari apologized, making sure she she hadn't caused any trouble. The anxiety brought about by class introductions, she understood, is really one of the lows of a first day of school for a shy student.

~Waylin & Nixiia~

Waylin carefully made his way into the cafeteria and took in his new environment. The clatter and chatter of the large room made it obvious that there was a good number of students already there. The mage squinted a bit before giving up on trying to make out anything. It's too bright. Not that he should've expected anything different, but it never stopped him from at least trying to make out the details of the things in his line of sight. Impatience. Hunger. Hurry up! The young mage's amusement at Nixiia's single-mindedness was rewarded with a small smack to his cheek. Waylin could barely make out the splash of red on his shoulder but imagined that the faerie was pouting. Annoyance. Hunger! For something so small, she was very demanding. "Be patient," he said in a oddly rhythmed accent, "Where do we get our food?"

Nixiia, her eagerness readable even without their bond, wasted no time in flitting down to his right hand and tugging on it sharply. "This way!" Waylin followed the faerie's tugs obediently, trusting her not to lead him into anything and to warn him of any hazards in his path. The tugging suddenly stopped and so did Waylin. He could make out darker shapes in front of him. Confusion? Expectance. Immediately the faerie answered, "It's a line. We're waiting for our turn." Ah, that makes sense.

Curious and somewhat wary of Western food, the mage asked, "Can you see what they're serving?" Waylin felt rather than saw Nixiia leave his side for a moment before reappearing.

"There's a menu," she reported, "We're getting the lobster."

Waylin cocked an eyebrow, "Don't I get a say in this?"

Satisfaction. "Nope." This time, Waylin let his lips twitch up into a smile. Sure, this kind of behavior might grate on most people, but the mage thoroughly enjoyed Nixiia's strong personality. It filled him with a kind of confidence he'd never felt before. Another wave of satisfaction, tinted with affection, went through him as the faerie dutifully guided him up the line. They must have eventually made it to the front because Nixiia suddenly chirped out a quick, "Lobster ravioli with seared scallops and chai tea."

"Please," Waylin added with a slight note of admonishment. He could practically feel the faerie roll her eyes at him as she gently tugged on his hand again. Confusion? Wasn't he supposed to grab their tray? Nixiia gave a sharp tug, Hurry!, which finally caused the mage to blindly follow her. He knew that her excitement sometimes caused her to forget that Waylin usually didn't know what was going on without some sort of explanation, but he trusted Nixiia to take their food seriously. Lobster is more complicated than a sandwich. It'll probably take some time before it's ready. The faerie was probably moving them to prevent Waylin from creating a mob of students waiting for their food. His musings instantly halted when Nixiia once again stopped tugging on his hand.

"There's a table with a bench here," she described, "There's several of them in the cafeteria but this one has an empty spot. There's not a lot of students at this one either so we can have some privacy." Expectance.

Waylin gave her a smile. "Thank you Nix, this'll do nicely." Satisfaction radiated off of the faerie in waves as she carefully guided him onto the seat. He didn't really need help sitting down, but the gesture was touching so he remained silent. More noises were breaking through the din of conversation. Footsteps? They sounded off, like as if they were wearing wooden clogs, but Waylin could definitely make out the sound of footsteps. Excitement. Hunger! Ah, so that's what it was. It was probably the lunch staff passing out food orders to students. He was a little relieved that he wouldn't have to run the risk of spilling his tray. Nixiia's excitement mounted as the sounds of clattering silverware and the tantalizing scent of food drew closer. The mage felt his own excitement bubble up to match the faerie. What could he say? It had been a long day and a nice, hot meal was just what they needed.

~De'kiral~
So much for lightening the mood. He didn't exactly expect the home planet dying shpeal... superhero sad backstory... thing... from a question about whether or not he enjoyed kids looking up to him. De'kiral squirmed a tiny bit, wings resting down onto the ground slightly. Sage, huh? And Ixia? Maybe he should read more about his colleagues... That was always such a pain in the butt to do though, and then there are things like this. This... he definitely would have liked to know beforehand. Pushing unknown buttons wasn't fun.

"Um... well," he began clearing his throat as he curled his beverage into his fingers, appreciative of the appearance of the food, "I'm happy you're enjoying teaching here... at the least. I don't know how to really respond to all that explanation. I hardly expected it. All the same, I appreciate that you're comfortable enough to talk about it."

"Well! At least food is here now. It looks fantastic, as always," he said with a surprisingly sweet smile, given his general appearance, "Shall we chow down? I think that we might make the chef think there's an issue with her food if we wait too long."

He chuckled, trying again (though this time not with a question that could go so awry) to lighten the mood. Giving him a moment or so to respond, he started with his large amount of food. Perhaps that'd be something that they could be friends about. Food. Both of them clearly had ridiculous appetites. It felt like a third of the table was taken up just by their food alone.

~Saruki and Vurudial~
Saruki smiled at the grumpy boy and shook her head a bit, waving at the other arrival for half a second before speaking up, "Well... I don't really think he's meaning to cause so much trouble, truth be told. He's a bit of a typical scholar for that. He's not a delinquent. Something weird probably happened. All the same, whatever it was, I agree that it's probably better that it's dealt with sooner rather than later."

She grinned a little, "I also would love to know what happened while that bubble was up. It was probably way more interesting than anything else going on. But, yeah, we're delinquent students, though truth be told we're rather proud of that. Against the grain and all that jazz. However you'd like to put it."

"I'm Saruki and he's Vurudial, like I mentioned. It's nice to formally meet you. I had almost forgotten that I recognized you from before. It's probably best that delinquents stick together to a degree. After all, I can't imagine hoity toity hero types really appreciate that people like us are even allowed on campus."

vurudial-jpg.467336
Food interrupted her thoughts, however, and she clapped happily at its arrival, "Sweet! If the food lives up to the menu, then this is probably gonna be the best food I've ever had! I mean seriously, what type of school has food like this for lunch? They must have money overflowing or something."

As Saruki dug in, Vurudial was watching the little golem trot off with curiosity. He hadn't seen something like that before. It was unfortunate that he wasn't in a position right now to grab it and try to take it apart, to see how it worked. Was it only magic? Were there inner-workings? Was it somewhat biological? Hopefully, he'd get the chance to trap one at some point and find out.

For now, however, food was the priority. He silently turned back to the tray sitting in front of him and started on the food eagerly. It was, indeed, amazing. It held up to the hype the menu set.

Lunch lunch lunch lunch lunch~

Whee~

She didn't wait in line for the cafeteria's food, instead, she brought her own to this lunch! She was extremely happy that there wasn't much more class today. As much as she enjoyed it, of course, it was nervewracking! It was also very awkward on the first day. People didn't know what to think of you, you didn't know what to think of people, and most people didn't get enough sleep.

Lyara plopped down at the staff table next to Lu-Dao and smiled at the both of them. She chuckled a little at their own mounds of food, "Well then! It seems like I'm a little late to the party." She opened her own pink lunch bag that had dark magenta leopard spots and took out a simple sandwich and drink. She didn't need to eat very much... clearly unlike the other two. Really, she didn't need to eat at all, strictly speaking, but she enjoyed food quite a bit.

Her eyes scanned the cafeteria as she took a sip of her beverage, "Hey have you guys seen Fay? He's a kid about 5'2", looks like a girl if I'm being honest? He's an amazing scholar... proven that much already. I had expected him to come to ask me for another book or, something like that anyways, at lunch. Maybe he didn't want to have lunch with everyone else? Hm..."

"Well regardless! How are you two hungry beasts?" she teased, sticking out her tongue at them playfully before taking a bite of her own sandwich.

~Aribella Kris Astrias/Nyx~
It was frustrating that she had missed more than half of her first day of school. It couldn't really be helped, but it was still incredibly frustrating. All the same, she walked into the cafeteria after being guided there by some kind of aid or the like. It wouldn't have been hard to find herself, given how many people were heading there and the bustle that was coming from the building, but the help was appreciated all the same. What really mattered was that she was here. She was finally at a school for superheroes... and one of the best in the world at that.

But... she had already eaten lunch. She didn't know they had food later in the day like this, and now... eh... it'd be fine. No reason to stress out about it. She tucked her cloak into her little fists, tugging it around herself more protectively. People would probably think she was some delinquent or something. She'd never look the part of a hero, and she'd have to accept it. Even simply walking in, she got a few uncertain, nervous looks from various normal looking individuals.

She didn't even bother going through the line, not even hungry enough for a snack, and instead just stood, awkwardly looking for a spot to sit. At this point, she'd be stuck sitting with someone pretty much no matter what... but... with whom?

A slow sigh filled her lungs as she spotted what she assumed was the teacher's table. They looked like adults. Maybe she should go there first? She could introduce herself to her teacher... or maybe it would be better to do so later... Kris bit her lip nervously, still standing in the same spot as she tried to figure out what to do.

Lu-Dao:

It wasn't as if anything could truly be said about the past exchange only a few minutes ago. Lu-Dao had given him an answer he felt was sufficient, and De'Kiral now had more information. It meant that, to him at least, the two of them could work as better colleagues. Secrets didn't work well in a professional setting, and truth be told, if it wasn't in his dossier, it should've been. He did, after all, request a full disclosure. Perhaps Astrella was either respecting more sensitive subjects, or allowing something for colleagues to learn about each other.

Lu-Dao was about to ruminate more on the complexity of potentially redacting information in order to create a more cohesive faculty relationship (Really, he was!!!), but the moment food had come around with the help of the cute little flora-based creatures, he was digging in before De'Kiral was able to comment on the fact that their food had arrived. Mostly, it was due to the fact that he was only able to eat such a paltry amount during class that had him so hungry, but the other part was that, since there was food, their talk was interrupted and the food was more fascinating, and that fascination started with the Kobe beef burger.

Nigh-instantly, the flavor that had erupted from the juicy beef was enough to make it addictive on its own, but with the crisp crunch of fresh vegetables combined with the creamy sauce, which tasted like home-made mayonnaise with a slight kick - the woman knew the quickest way to his heart it seemed, it was all he could think about, and truth be told, the display he put on with savoring the burger with each large bite was actually an act of grace and practice rather than that of vulgarity. As far as the regular person could tell, Lu-Dao was the only one who could have such a talent for the consumption and appreciation of food.

Even with the speed in which it seemed he was eating, mask hanging around his neck as he held his breath to eat and nary a single speck of food upon his lips or cheeks, he was only about halfway through the delicacy before he felt a buzzing in his pocket. Not wanting to taint the screen with the absolutely delicious grease that had begun to permeate through the bun, Lu-Dao instead slipped his phone from his pocket, opened it, and navigated it entirely with his mind. The device floated before him as he lifted his mask to take a casual, relaxed breath before letting it drop again as he read.

“Lu-Dao," it began in the customized Ixian language. "you have two additional students I’d like you to meet. One is already in the cafeteria, and was told to find you when she’s ready. The other has some... difficulties. She’s not spoken yet. I’d like her to meet you as soon as possible. Perhaps over lunch, as it would not interrupt class?”

The text had come from the headmistress Astrella, and he couldn't think the request was anything other than odd. Astrella was quite confident with her interpersonal skills, and yet she couldn't get a student to speak? She thought someone as straight-forward and... Well, to be honest, lacking in the skills that was required for speaking to earthlings, was able to get someone who didn't want to speak to do exactly that?

Brows nearly furrowed as he tilted his head once, then typed back, hit send, and promptly locked and put the device away.

"Send them at their convenience," his text read. "If they're scared, then its better to do this on their terms. Promising food is likely a good way to get them to go along, and this is about the best time to use that bribe."

Lu-Dao wasn't an idiot; He knew Astrella had thought the same thing, hence why he said it anyway. As he figured it, if they were on the same page about something, then communicating that didn't change anything, but if they weren't, then they would be now.

Phone away, mask down, and hands still full with a half-eaten burger, Lu-Dao finished the rest before he wiped his hands clean, took a drink of one of the drinks brought to him, and then began.

"Apparently," he started after putting his mask back on. "Astrella has two students for me to meet, and if you all wouldn't mind, it would be a good time to have the faculty greet them. They were apparently late for reasons that may have been outside of their control, and according to her, one should be approaching soon per her orders."

For only a moment, Lu-Dao went quiet, looked at his plate, and then looked around the room with a speed that nearly rivaled Nanami's before asking a question.

"Would it be strange for one person to offer some of their food to a student as a sign of good-will, or is it one of those things that Earthlings would consider awkward or rude?"

"This'll go wonderfully. Don't you worry," Astrella said, walking the young girl down the hall. She was thin, almost starved in appearance, her clothes hanging down off her frame loosely. She either hadn't eaten at all in a long while or hadn't had enough to eat when she did get food. Astrella grumbled a little under her breath, continuing, "Well... not that I know whether or not you can actually understand me. Likely can't... given Lu-Dao's language barrier..."

The thin girl looked up a little at the teacher's name, equally thin, short-haired and long purple tail wrapping around her waist protectively. Her head moved back down to the floor as Astrella continued speaking. It wasn't like she understood it anyways. It was all a messy jumble of another language. No one seemed to speak her language. She was too freaked out to attempt to speak in turn either. Everything was a mess. Everything was moving far too fast. Everything was scary right now.

Just about the only sound she had made so far was in protest as their medics wished to check her over. She didn't understand at first that this was what they had intended... so the needle was a bit of a shock.

Kara-Aru2.jpgThey slowly made their way to the cafeteria, a place of noise. Many noises, all with voices that were speaking more language that she didn't understand. She sighed silently, watching the floor as Astrella was in front of her, guiding her to some kind of table. A bit of commotion was made at the sight of the woman guiding her, but she didn't react to that either.

Truth be told, the smell of food was intoxicating. Her hands flitted up to her long purple hair nervously, a small golem hopping up on the table she still couldn't see yet, bringing a tray of food onto the table for no one in particular. In reality, it was intended for her, as the chef enjoys being on top of everything that goes on in the cafeteria and kitchen, but she didn't know that yet.

Astrella cleared her throat an apologetic smile already on her face as she knew what would be coming next, "Well... I want you to say hello one of your two new students. I'm not sure of her name yet... as, as mentioned in messages, she has yet to speak." With that, the thin girl felt a hand wrap around her shoulders, Astrella standing to the side so she was exposed to the adults in front of her.

She still looked down, staring at nowhere in particular, her tail still wrapped around her waist protectively as she teetered an almost imperceptible amount back and forth. Food smelled good.

After getting... Somewhat of a go-ahead to offer his own food if the child in question that would be meeting them had been too hungry to wait for their order, Lu-Dao had resigned to simply sitting back from his own plate and instead pulling out another piece of dried meat from who-knew-where to chew on. For now, it would have to do. Of course, the simple use of his hidden bag of food had prompted a thought he had before to occur once more, and turning to Lyara, he pulled his mask back down to speak again.

"By the way, Lyara," Lu-Dao began, looking toward her. "Your student Fay had started a physical conflict with the Librarian. Considering my station as the Disciplinary faculty member for Delinquents, I'm recommending he be placed in the program as well. If you want more information, you can refer to the security cameras since I believe the Librarian would be too soft on him and his recollection of the incident may not match the physical evidence that was gathered."

In all honesty, it was Lu-Dao's full intent to continue on, but the fact was that things suddenly felt all too familiar. Like the breeze in a heavily forested area, which he had been to none of those here save the School's, or the warmth of desert sands, which he hadn't been to on this planet either. He could almost replace the sounds of the students talking in the cafeteria with that of his own students only a little more than a year ago, all in his native tongue, all in hushed excitement or melancholy, and suddenly the reason why clicked.

There was another Ixian nearby.

That, however, was absolutely impossible. The entirety of Ixia was destroyed, and all but he himself survived. He had confirmed that with having circled where the planet was over and over in hopes of finding capsules housing the young of his dead race until he had been entirely sure there were not. It was the only reason he had plotted a course for Earth instead of having went to a neighboring, allied planet in the first place. All of Ixia was gone - absolutey all of it.

So why did he feel the presence of another Ixian within ten meters? His answer was obviously given to him when he saw a sickly, infuriating display: That of a young Ixian girl who looked atrophied to the point she should have been on a gurney than walking into a cafeteria, fed through a tube. Problem was that he couldn't just get up and do so right away. Lu-Dao wasn't stupid enough to think she would be okay with a sudden shape blurring towards her and rushing her off to Gods-Knew-Where, and it simply wouldn't do to lose composure in front of not only his coworkers, but his boss as well.

Instead, Lu-Dao stood from his seat, met them halfway, then looked from the girl, to Astrella, then did this once more before speaking.

"You brought me a malnourished, dazed, and frail Ixian girl," he started, his voice noting not only that of a question, but of a statement. "Who should have died on Ixia, and you didn't think to notify me before bringing her here so I could look her over? The 'Ixian' portion isn't what I'm worried about, but the fact that you had her walk here in the condition she's in?

"Astrella..." Lu-Dao broke off, gritting his teeth - an incredibly rare action for him, before holding up his hand to stop the conversation, stooping down, and tilting the girl's chin up with the absolute gentlest touch he could possibly muster.

"Do you recognize me, child?" He said in their native language. "Do you wish to sit and eat?"

The language, likely heard for the first time by someone who wasn't sick or scared, was something that seemed to roll off the tongue with a slow ease, as if it were a dense fog rather than flowing water. Lu-Dao was expecting one of two things: The girl was either going to stare at him with the same blank eyes that she had before, in which he would then take her to the nurse's office before heavily berating Astrella (which he was sure could make him lose his job, but this was about a child, dammit, and he wouldn't stand down for it), or she was going to realize who he was and react.

Out of the two, Lu-Dao was almost needing the second reaction more than the food he was eating earlier.

Astrella smiled apologetically at Lu-Dao, age only apparent at the slight creases the corners of her eyes made as her brow furrowed. Maybe this hadn't been the best way to go about this... She'd have to explain to him later that she had to be quarantined before being brought here. Definitely was Ixian though... with the language they were speaking. She only had learned a few words in the short time Lu-Dao had been on the planet.

Her arm dropped from the frail girl, whose tail was still hugging her midsection. Kara-Aru didn't resist her chin being tilted up, and it took a moment for her to realize what was happening. This was impossible. Unfathomable. Her eyes went as wide as they possibly could, big purple rings staring up at Lu-Dao in utter disbelief.

"Y-you're alive?" she asked in her native tongue, voice shaking as she started to tear up, "S... Sage Lu-Dao... you survived. I-I don't know where I am... I don't know how... how I got here... I haven't had enough to eat b-but... but I don't kn-know how to tell them I n-need more." She was shaking, tears rolling down her cheeks as she was trying not to start hiccup crying. She didn't really care who was seeing her cry, or who was around in general.

Kara-Aru reached out and hugged him, burrowing her face against his shirt, clinging desperately, as though he was going to disappear without warning.

He was completely absorbed in his food when Lu-Dao started to talk about the offering food... thing. He gave a little thumbs up, but it seemed like it wasn't necessary when the little golem came up with a tray full of food. The chef was always on it. He'd have to thank the chef later for that, as it seemed Lu-Dao was suddenly a bit too preoccupied to do so himself.

De'kiral awkwardly sipped from his mug as he watched Lu-Dao walk up to the skinny, tailed girl. He spoke what he guessed was his native language to her, considering how smooth it was. A sigh escaped De'kiral's lips. More drama. Always something interesting going on when you pack a school full of teenage supers.

"Lu-Dao. Do you need any help? There's the tray of food here if she needs it."
