Fantasy AS WE WANDER- Voyage Of The Tigers Eye

Anwen grinned and stood up, giving xinn a somewhat rough pat on the back. If he took it as a warning...well... "I'll assist the boy with his loot. Make sure it be stayin secure in his possession, aye?"

Sage muttered something incoherent under his breath but reluctantly gave a nod of agreement. If the women wanted to come along so be it. He made his way into the storage room where all the week old bread and rotten fruit were stored. There, in the corner most back was the entrance to the cellar. Sage threw open the worn doors and gestured at the stone steps descending to what seemed to be complete darkness.

"Ladies first" He said with a hint of sarcasm.

Anwen shook her head, but that smile never faltered. "I preciate the gesture lad, but I not be trustin ye not te kick me down."she stepped aside. "I be hatin te have a reason te be cross. Off ye get."

Sage gave her an appraising glance before making his way down the stairs. He wouldn't have trusted himself either. It was pitch black, damp, and the slightest noise always echoed. After living several days in the cave like room, Sage had become fairly accustomed to its crypt like atmosphere.

"Theres a lamp to your left" He stated, already making his way down the corridor of beer barrels.

Anwen reached over to turn the oil filter, and slowly the room was illuminated by its soft glow. she frowned deeply, having seen better living conditions on an over crewed barge. "ye be livin down here? A bilge rat wouldn't live in this squalor." She snarled. "thae tavern wench be the devils own daughter t make ye sleep here."

Jeanne had a soft smile on her face after she heard the words that Anwen had whispered to her. She had seen how those who use to command her lived and figured that it would be nice to be on that side of living, but she was more interested in going out and seeing and doing things rather than sitting back and not having to ever do anything again. Not at the table with Xull and Xinn she wasn't exactly sure what to do, so she flagged down a bar wench and had a round of the finest brought to the table. She tipped the bar wench the boy's share, figuring that he wasn't going to be working here after tonight so he wouldn't be needing it.

Xinn was odd. That's all Xull could really make of him. Yes he had a reputation, he was a somewhat jolly fellow despite the underlying temper. And of all her new company, he seemed to be the only one taking it with a scrutinizing eye. There was something about him that genuinely confused her, and even more so, she had no idea what it was. He was complicated man, and she found that in and of itself an enigma.

Xull was unfamiliar with this...uncertainty. But she loved a good puzzle and shed enjoy peeling away the layers of his personality.

"Its better than nothing" Sage mummered under his breath. He knew all to well what it was like to spend a night, without shelter, in the slums. Compared to that, this was ultimately nothing. Sage rounded the corner and came to a stop in front of a makeshift cot. He reached under the piles of strewn blankets and pulled out a worn leather satchel. He rummaged through its contents and relaxed slightly as he found what he was looking for. He swung it over his shoulders and threw a single golden pence onto one of the hay stuffed pillows before facing Anwen.

The table was silent, no one really wanted to change that. Xull seemed to be interested in something, she gave Xinn a strange expression. He couldn't tell what it was about, but he didn't care enough. Jeanne ordered another drink from a nearby wench, asking for one of their better drinks. Ooo, you've just gained a bit o' respect from meh as well lass. Xinn rubbed his beard slowly again, contemplating his situation. Guess I'm part of a bigger plot now.

Anwen frowned and picked up the coin before heading after sage, shoving it back in his hand, along with two silver prices of eight. "best keep a good hold onto yer wealth, laddie." She said in a somewhat morbid tone. "it can spell the difference between life and death if ye get yeself captured."her gaze was fairly protective. Having lost a child years ago to her fathers attempt to save his own public image, she tended to make up for it in those she interacted with. "these..."she gestured to the silvers. "barter ye passage on te the next life." She explained, gently. "Where we be goin, ye never know..."

Xull pulled out her pocket watch and growled. "Where dey be? Any longa an de captain gonna be bargin troo dem doas like de hellcat she be." It was the final test, and also a genuine warning...specifically for xinn. Not many male pirates approved of female captains.

"Where dey be? Any longa an de captain gonna be bargin troo dem doas like de hellcat she be." Xull growled, she obviously wanted to get a move on. Wait the captain's a woman? Xinn was a bit taken back, he almost dropped his pipe. Almost. He glanced toward Xull, who noticed his disturbance. Those eyes mate, those eyes always disturbed him. He took a few more puffs of his pipe, exhaling for perhaps dramatic effect. "Our captain be a woman eh?" He asked.

"Aye."Xull replied with a knowing smirk."tha she be. A woman who be as fine a captain as I seen in all me yeas o life, an a bloody demon if she be made cross. Ye neva gonna fine a man wit de pu-lele te contradict her, let alone mutiny. De Tiguhs Eye, de old captain re name de ship afta lookin de captain de eye, back when she be de fus mate.

Honestly, Sage didn't believe in an afterlife. In fact he didn't believe in anything but he did believe on easy money. So he nodded his head and pocketed the two silver coins but still kept the golden coin in between his fingers. "Theres one more thing-" But before he could finish there was a a flutter of wings, the sound of glass breaking, and the room was plunged into inky darkness.

"GAH!!" Anwen shouted in surprise and snarled the moment two clawed feet came to rest on her head. "BRANDO, YE BLASTED HELL BIRD!!!" Anwen waved a hand and the cockatoo took flight again with a squawk.

"...hold on" Sage sighed and a moment later a small ball of light appeared in the darkness. The candle flame could barely illuminate a quarter feet of the cellar floor but it would have to do. It had barely been a second after it had been lit when it was snatched from Sage's grasp. It came to rest on the top of a near-by shelf, revealing a great snowy owl with one wing made out of shining gold. "I have an owl" He continued as if nothing had transpired.

A female captain? The idea seemed strange to Jeanne, but then again she found a lot of things to be not exactly as she expected. She definitely would've though the captain to be a man, seeing as though they were, in her eyes, more fit to play that role, and for such reason she was very intrigued and a little worried about how this captain would be. She picked up her drink and began to sip, remaining quiet and observant, contemplating on how she had gotten there, how all of them seemed to be connected, and a little self-conscious around these two surly individuals, one who was able to see from what background she came from. Scary people indeed.

Anwen had to blink a few times before she was sure what she was seeing. A bloody owl... A gold wing...

"Ha!" She barked out laughing as her own power bird stared at his reflection in the owls wing, flicking his head nearly upside down with curiosity. "yer a bird man!" She grinned widely and offered up the proper fist perch to the owl, hoping its friendly enough to not bite.

"Brando be an ornery curious fella. Many apologies, me wide eyed friend. Musta been a right pest te ye."

Pingo let out a hoot before perching on the women's out stretched arm. It slowly leaned forward until its beak was a hair breath away from touching her nose. "Careful" Sage warned, picking up the abandoned candle "He goes for the eyes". And with that he brushed past them and walked on down towards the stairs.

"naah. He be to smart te be doin suicidal foolishness like that. Aren't ye?" And with that said she Matches the owls eyes with a glance of primal warning. "brando?" Amend bird followed her out of the cellar and perched on her shoulder with a musical chirp of "ye blasted hell bird!! Ye blasted hell bird!!"

Xinn crossed his legs in an attempt to get more comfortable, those two seemed to be takin' there sweet ol' time. He began scratching his head indifferently, as if this didn't seem to bother him much. "A captain tha' can hold 'er own and drink like a mad man is worthy of my servitude. I don't doubt her skills Xull my dear, if you follow under such a woman she is someone I can work under without a second thought." He opened one eye at Xull, smirking slightly. She was frowning, something was a not to her liking. "A'ight, come yerself. I didn' mean any disrespect to ye or yer captain. I do mean in earnest that she must be somethin' special."

Rosey cheeked, Jeanne put her drink down and looked between the two still at the table. She hadn't had much experience outside of the wall of her Master, so she was a bit naive to how things actually worked, but do to her upbringing in the manner she was a fast-leaner. "So...exactly how many pieces of this map are there?" she stared down at her hand, "and do other people know of it's existence?" Xull looked like she was angered by something, but then again she was sure that this one didn't smile that often. Xinn seemed to be a little more laid back, for a man, but then again he was still dangerous. All of them so far seemed to have an air of danger, mystery and awe about them, and she took a long deep draw from her cup wondering how she could contribute to such a bunch. The Captain sounded like a powerful and noteworthy person, one for whom you definitely didn't not want to be on the pointed end of the blade of, and as such that meant she was probably all the more domineering if she had someone like Xull already on her side.

Xulls stare grew more and more enraged by the second, nobody knew, but when that devil of a bird had taken leave above her from the rafters to chase its master, it had also decided to soil the back of her armor. She had noticed only a few moments ago when shred finally smelt it. birds tended to hate her, as a natural opposite to the filling creatures. And she most definitely hated them back. Anwens cockatoo had just signed its death warrant. Nothing. Shits. On. Her. Armor.

Anwen had been cooing affectionately at the two avian pets, one on each hand, when, with a great screech of wood on wood, Xull stood up and gave her the most flinch worthy glare shed ever had the displeasure of receiving.

"I be in an odd predicament, woman." Xull growled with a dangerous lilt to her voice. "if ye wish dat filty ting to live anoda day, ye best come an clean afta it."

Anwen blinked, a tad confused. But as she put two and two together, with her dawning realization came a very amused grin. " well I be honored to, milady!" She managed not to snort as she let the birds fly and walked behind Xull, seeing the fodder, and pulled out a buff rag. Taking it to the armor and weeping it clean, anwen went on jovially "brando be a might bit territorial ye see. When he be seein a female he likes, he likes to mark his territory. Then again, he be o the kind te make relief on them he dont like either." She stepped back from a newly cleaned Xull.

Xull simply ignored her the best she could. "We be nearly late." As if that was all the explanation she needed to give, (and perhaps, from a person like her, it was) she straightened her belt and headed for the door, shoving a few drunks out of her away without mercy, snarling as she worked off her now very nasty mood on the face of a fool who dared to touch her deliberately, and not once did she stop her quick stride until she was out the door.

Anwen watched with cautious amusement before she realized what had just happened. "suppose we should follow her then?"
