Happy Necromancer
Arcadia City
Arcadia City is one of the largest and most influential megacities in all of the continent of Kleodon. At its forefront, its a city of hope and endless possibilities. But not too far beneath the surface shows that that very surface is a weak veneer, ready to peel off at any moment to the rotten insides that lurk below.
Detective Hitoshi had seen it all. Deaths of all shapes, sizes and colors. The sorts of strange and unknowable allure of various designer drugs, magical crazes and cult leaders.
Even the shadier sides of the Megacorporations had all kinds of dark and dangerous activities if you didn’t turn away. MOst people turned away, however. They didn’t want to question where their cheap food products or magical herbs or designer parts came from. As long as they came and as long as it was fast, the public didn’t care.
The Detective was woken up from his sound sleep at 3 AM by the ringing of his holo. He had just gotten off of a very intense case involved with smuggling of Dwarven Slaves that were painted Blue. A weirdo wearing tattered black robes claimed that he wanted to eat them to gain their powers.
Whatever that meant. But what it meant for Hitoshi was that he had only been running on about maybe two hours of sleep before he got the call.
The call that there was a major explosion downtown in a supposedly abandoned warehouse. Apparently, the leaders and lieutenants of the top four gangs in the city, Clan Shankz, The Elites, The Skullz and The Wheel Machines were in some sort of big meeting.
Once he groggily get dressed and arrived at the crime scene, he contacted some of his informants via the net. Supposedly, the BIG 4 were going to officially be dividing up the city and crush all competition once and for all.
Clearly, one of the minor gangs found out and planted a bomb. Or heck, maybe even one of the corporations decided it was in their best interests if there wasn’t such a union in the dreg heaps.
Whatever the reason, it was done and now he was going to have to investigate. His partner, a heavyset middle aged Orc named Dumire was already at the scene, perpetuating the typical cop stereotype of happily munching on a donut. Pink crumbs dribbled down onto his black uniform as he wiped his chipped canine tooth with his sleeve.
“About time you got here, Hitoshi.” The orc spoke with a mouth full of donut. If there wasn’t so little let of the crime scene, Hitoshi would have chided him for possibly contaminating the evidence. But so far, everything that they could see from this side of the tape was charred to a darkened crisp.
“For your information, Dumire, I was asleep when I got the call. I had just gotten off a case and thought I could get forty winks at least before I was needed again.”
Dumire Chuckled, letting his gut ripple slightly, jostling the crumbs. “Well, you thought wrong,Hitoshi. Now let’s get in there and look around.”
His orc partner might seem like an overweight moron, but he was far more perceptive than most people gave him credit for. Many think that just because he is an orc and that he is crass, that he is incapable of being a detective. But they couldn’t be more wrong.
Hitoshi led the way past the tape, with Dumire following behind.

A figure lingers in the shadows, a raspy voice speaks aloud, seemingly to no one at all.
“Yes. It is done….done….done.”
The figure begins to pace back and forth as an older light fixture in the ceiling swings back and forth.
“Soon it will rise from the ashes….the ashes….And all will be dust….dust…dust.”
The light bulb exploded in a sea of sparks and all that followed was darkness
